"Cannot complete iTunes store request..." error solved
As posted elsewhere here, repeated clicking between "iPhone" and any other header such as "Music" or "Playlists" in the iTunes browser has solved this error message:
"Cannot complete iTunes store request - network connection was reset. Make sure your connection is active and try again."
After about 45 minutes I got the message: "Restoring iPhone from backup"
It is now sloowwly restoring my original iPhone (No usb 2.0 on the old PowerBook G4 400)
Hammered Apple servers = tried patience. Keep trying!
I don't know if this will help you guys, but it worked for me...
I've been having the exact same problem since upgrading to iTunes 9. Installed the recent update to 9.0.1.8 with no change--still no icons when the Store comes up, long vertical layout, 306 error when clicking on anything.
I'm on an older Windows box with XP installed, Safari 4.0.3, iTunes 9.0.1.8. I use Firefox for the web. Though it WAS installed, I had never used Safari on this machine. Went to take a look at Safari and see if there was anything wrong.
I found that Safari was NOT set up properly to get through my Firewall--again, I had never used it before. As soon as I got the internet settings right in Safari and made sure it could get to the web properly, I re-launched iTunes and lo and behold the Store worked properly. This was NOT a problem with iTunes 8. Apparently everything with Safari needs to be kosher before the iTunes 9 Store will work.
Maybe you all have done this already, but it immediately solved the problem for me. Hope this helps someone.

For anyone else wondering, the clue was in what was displayed on the screen after I turned iTunes Match on again: it asked whether I wanted to add this computer. Having copied my iTunes library over from the old machine, I'd completely forgotten that iTunes Match identifies each computer uniquely (not each iTunes Library), so was never going to work with this one until I specifically added it. Sorted! -

I recently upgraded to the Mac above, added Lepoard, and could sync my music successfully. Then added an iPhone to the list in the last week or so, and also could sync. However, started to get error messages for many of the music in the library, which seemed to require me to re-authorize using some of the older account names I purchased under. Any attempt now to re-authorize the music, or re-authorize (or de-authorize) the computer, with any of the accounts, gives me the messsage in the subject line.
"Could not complete iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-4)"
So now I have about 30 gigs of uplayable music. Not happy. Any ideas ?I just synced my iPhone and got some errors stating that a few songs weren't authorized to play (it synced fine yesterday). I decided to deauthorize all computers (since I forgot to deauthorize two older ones a while ago). When I tried to reauthorize, I kept getting the -4 error. I had to try at least 5 times before it finally worked. Apple's servers must be getting hammered.
I'm not sure if this matters... but on the last attempt that worked, I went to the menu-Store-Authorize Computer (instead of clicking on a iTunes purchase to authorize).

Need some help, I was downloading an album when the message "could not complete itunes store request, requested resource not found." "Error in the itunes store please try again later." My account has been deducted for the amount of the album, but I dont have it downloaded on my computer. Please help!!! Thank you!!!

ITunes store request error (5002)
I was trying to access my shopping cart in the iTunes store, and something weird happened while trying to update my info. Now, I keep getting this error: There was an error in the iTunes store (5002). Is it really the store, or is it on my end?
--LFYI - I don't think this is a PC configuration/firewall issue. I went to the local Apple store last night and asked them if I could try connecting to the iTunes Store using my AppleID from one of their systems. I still received the same error:

Since I can connect to the iTunes Store from my PC using other AppleID's, it stands to reason that this particular problem is with the iTunes Store servers and not with the PC configuration.
APPLE TECHS: Any updates/suggestions you might have would sure be helpful.

Perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file. -

i got two iphones. the first one activated just fine.
the second keeps giving me this on a different iTunes account on a different laptop.
i don't even get to the first page of activation. is the iTunes store for iPhone activation down?Sure blame Vista. You clearly have no idea what you're talking about, but instead of going into detail, I'll just say that I rebooted my MacBook Pro into OS X (latest version with all updates) and got the same error. I know this error isn't an overload because I'm not even getting as far as everyone else is. The error also comes back immediately leading me to believe this is the default error message for 500-level server errors. Of course try explaining that to the moron's you get on the phone (granted... they are friendly... just unhelpful, though it's clearly not their faults).
This is insane. I can't believe how terrible this launch went. They KNEW they'd get this many people on. How could they not stress test their system? Plus... everyone you call is no help at all.
I'm just going to go in and trade this for annother and then I'll bet I'll be free of this bug (and be able to at least get to the point where I'll be waiting for my activation email, like the rest of you). -

Your iPhone & iPad are running iOS 7.
You need iTunes 11.1 or later to recognize iOS 7 devices.
What OS are you running on your Mac? iTunes 11.1 requires OS X v10.6.8 or later.

Am I the only person who STILL can't access the activation process in iTunes? It doesn't seem like this is still happening for most people. I have been trying for several hours. I do have the most current version of iTunes.
Weird...What version of the Mac OS or Windows do you have? You must have OSX 10.4 or above, and some versions of Vista (I think the 64 bit versions) have been having problems (as iTunes 7.3 doesn't work properly on that version of Vista).
