Cannot Configure Network Settings During ol6u1 HVM Install

dom0: vm server v2.2.2
vm manager: v2.2.0
Oracle Enterprise Linux 6 update 1
When creating a domu server using ol6u1, the network configuration button on the page where you enter the host name is grayed out. I would like to enter the settings during the initial install.
What can I do to make the button usable. When I do an install in Vmware Workstation, the button functions as expected.
How can I enable that functionality in Oracle Vm environment?

Thank you for your answers, they were helpful.
i've done the settings, but network restart seems not to work I have such file in the rc.d directory and tried to change permissions to 777, but it still doest'n work. i'm logged in as root. i get the error:
[root@arch rc.d]# network restart
-bash: network: command not found
I've editer the etc/hosts file:
127.0.0.1     localhost.localdomain    arch
I've restarted the machine but i stll have no internet connectivity.
ifconfig says:
eth0
...addr 192.168.0.68 bcast: 192.168.0.255 mask: 255.255.255.0 ...
(which seems correct)

  • How to configure network settings in solaris 10

    hi
i have downloaded solaris 10 and installed on dell dimension desktop,as i have gone through the instalation guide,i see i dont get netwotk configuration (DNS,DHCP.....)settings during installation,it havent asked me about those settings,It just asked the host name ..after installation i see no network connection even i have my cable connected.ethernet cable connected Its INTEL
can anyone help me how to resolve this issue

You could try the Dell site, but I doublt if they will have a driver for Solaris, Linux maybe but not Solaris. Otherwise try the DriverGuide web site. http://www.driverguide.com/
You could also try installing OpenSolaris if you don't specifically need Solaris 10. Better chance that OpenSolaris will support the NIC.

  • Configure Network Settings. DHCP is used unless otherwise specified

    Hello
I have created a task sequence that is used in multiple domains.
In one domain DHCP is not configured and we need to use the "Bootable media that uses the Configmr infrastructure".
This bootable media is running fine when DHCP is enabled.
However, when I configure the network settings Manual in WINPE the client
can connect to the SCCM server.
After SCCM applies the OS image and reboots the network settings are gone and the Task Sequence crashes.
Is there a simple way to transfer the network settings from WINPE to the OS?

I usually use ZTINICConfig.wsf of MDT
to capture those network settings. That means that I add the following two steps to my task sequence:
    A Use Toolkit Package step, to copy the MDT package;
    A
Run Command Line step, with the command %Scriptroot%\ZTINICConfig.wsf /ForceCapture, to capture the network settings.

  • Configuring regional settings during OSD

What is the best way to configure regional settings (keyboard layout and locale) during OSD? Do I just need to create customized unattend.xml file that has these settings configured?

Then your best best is to either us an HTA to set it or use the xml file to set it.

  • Locked down computer (means I cannot see network settings) allows IE6 but Firefox always times out.

The tech guys have locked down the computer and I cannot see the network settings and have no access to the registry. Firefox always times out so I am forced to use IE6. How to set up Firefox to get round this?

Presumably, you're talking about your company's administrator. It probably wouldn't be wise to try and circumvent their network policy. It might get you fired even.
A better idea would be to show them how insecure IE6 is - ''it's no longer supported by Microsoft for example and exposes their network to all kinds of attacks'' - and that it's in their own interests to use a secure browser like Firefox 4.0
    Maybe they'll even promote you!

  • Configure network settings on clients

Well I've finally tracked down a very annoying problem with using aiport and network logins. I'm looking to find a way to create a new network location and its settings for aiport for all the clients with a shell script. I haven't been able to find any plist or unix utility that would let me create a location, or edit the current location such that:
aiport is the only enabled port
    choose to join preferred network
choose to auto join and open network
I'm really hoping not to have to do these steps 60 times in the UI.

  • Cannot connect to wifi, cannot change network settings [SOLVED]

    Asus EeePC.
    lspci -k shows
Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 adapter is the hardware, and appears to be working. Kernel driver in use is bcma-pci-bridge
In Gnome, Wi-Fi status shows "not connected"
"Select Network" shows a list of available APs, I click on ours which is set up as WPA2 PSK. Click Connect. Nothing happens. At all, no dialog for password, no attempt to connect seems to be processed by the computer. This happens with open networks as well (coffee shop or whatever). Click connect but nothing further happens.
From the applet I can't even seem to be able to "Turn off" the WiFi at all.
From within Wi-Fi settings in the applet, I can see a list of available access points but clicking on them does nothing. There is no available way for any user input, although I can click the toggle to turn off Wi-Fi from within there.
I can't forget networks in my history here either: click "History" and I can see a long list of previous networks. I can check box for them all and say "forget" but then they're back when I open the history again.
So it seems like my NetworkManager is just simply not working. Can't change the current state of "not connected" to anything at all.
When I attempt to connect using Wifi-menu I get:
    Successfully initialized wpa_supplicant
    >WPA Authentication/Association Failed {FAIL}
When I attempt to connect to any network. It never asks for password.
    Gnome-Keyring is installed.
    Netctl is NOT installed.
NetworkManager is installed and running according to systemctl
I've been running this Arch install on this machine for two years. This is not a new install problem. No hardware can be changed on this machine, so it's not hardware related (unless the wireless device itself crapped out).
Possibly related, I cannot shutdown the machine from within Gnome. I have to "sudo shutdown -h now" from a terminal. Seems to hibernate/sleep properly when the lid is closed though.
All of the results of searching on this indicate usually the problem is multiple network config softwares installed at the same time, like netctl and networkmanager together. Or not having a keyring manager installed That is not the case here unless it is one of those that is broken, but they don't seem to be.
I have no access to any wired connection at the moment at all, so I can't download anything to this computer at the moment. There's gotta be a way to get wifi working again, as it was just working last week. Haven't even done a pacman upgrade between when it last worked and when it stopped working.

I did mention the hardware is a Broadcom BCM4313
It may have been an issue with the Broadcom not working with iw. Not sure, as I haven't really changed things on this machine much (it's my wife's and I regularly update it but don't fuss with it much beyond "get it to work"). Like I said, the install is 2 years old, so compatibility may have even changed since I initially set it up.
I'm currently at work and without direct access to the computer in question. So I'll get those results later tonight.

  • HP Office Jet 6000 E609n Printer, Cannot reset network settings.

    Hello,
I was setting up a static IP address for the HP Office Jet 6000, upon attempting to set it up. I forgot to set the default gateway to match the IP address. Now that it is set that way I cannot access the GUI for the printer. I have tried doing the reset by holding down the wireless button and pressing resume three times. I have literally unplugged it from the back and from the wall and that did not resolve the issue. Also, unplugged it and waited 30 more seconds plugged it back in and did the button reset a swell. Noone of these resolved anything I am stuck and cannot even access the controls to change the router. Help will be very much appreciated.

You may try and do the network defaults and the factory defaults on the printer and that should reset the ip address for you. I'll try and see if i can get the combination for you for this printer. Let me know if this works or if you are still not able to get into your settings.
If I helped you at all it would be great if you clicked the blue kudos star!

  • Cannot access networking settings in browser

Well, it is now December 8th, and no one has been able to tell me why I cannot access my printer's Networking information from its web page (in my case, the URL is http://192.168.2.123).  I receive the following message:
The server 192.168.2.123:80 at HP Printer Networking@ requires a username and password.
Below that are two fields, one for a username, the other for a password.
I have tried the usual variety of username/password combinations with no success.  What's going on here?  Why am I being asked for a username and password when I never set them up to begin with?  Why is HP silent about this?  I asked about this way back in April.  I really need an answer.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
    Username        admin
    Password         just leave this blank
    Username        root
    Password         just leave this blank
If this doesn't work try Admin for the username and again just leave the password blank.
    Hope this helps.
    Best wishes,

  • WAE-674 not retaining network settings when configured using recovery CD

    WAE-674 Issues
Here is the story so far:
Disks crashed. Installed new disks. Inserted the recovery CD. wiped disks and installed .bin image. tried to configure network settings. No error message but interface settings did not stick. I am 100% positive that the network settings were correct. cannot connect to the device via telnet. Can see the device with CDP but no IP address configured.

Could I be having these issues because I am using a monitor and keyboard not a console cable?
Old style console cable not available. equipment is difficult to procure because I'm in the middle of nowhere.
Could the issues be because of the 64bit architecture of WAE-674 i.e could I be using the wrong recovery disk?
Attached are images of the device booting when recovery CD is not inside the device.

    Hi Kristof,
The problem is that as soon as the serial port becomes active, the device stops displaying the output to the screen/keyboard so you'll really need an "old style" console cable to see what is really happening with your device.
    More info: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/wae/installation/7341-7371/guide/7341gd/7300intr.html#wp1040804
You can connect a keyboard to any USB port and connect a monitor to the video connector to troubleshoot the BIOS boot process. However, video output is for troubleshooting only during the BIOS boot process. The video output stops displaying when the serial port becomes active. To monitor the boot process in normal operation, use the serial console port.
The Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) connector is not supported.
The systems-management Ethernet connector is not supported.

  • Smf / sometimes does not configure network interfaces in single-user mode?

    From http://groups.yahoo.com/group/solarisx86/message/14785
When booting into single user mode, I often get a message
    on the console
t_optmgmt: System error: Cannot assign requested addressand only the loopback interface is configured (lo0 inet, and lo0 inet6).
The system's dnet0 interface is not plumbed any more. Configuration
for the dnet0 network interface is via a static ip address; hostname
in /etc/hostname.dnet0, and and ip v4 address for that hostname in
/etc/hosts. This was a Solaris 10 x86 system, but the same problem
has also been observed on Solaris 10 sparc, and the hme0
    interface.
svcs -x in single-user mode reports no problems.
Changing to multi-user mode by typing Ctrl-D still does not
    configure the real network interface.
One thing that I've noticed is that smf's log file
    /etc/svc/volatile/network-physical:default.log
is missing, when the nic interface was not configured.
It seems that the problem with unconfigured network interfaces
does not happen when I boot directly into multi-user mode.
Why isn't the physical interface plumbed and configured when
booting into single user mode on S10 b69?

If i will be connecting my laptop to various IP whereever i go, so do i need to configure network setting again and again ? isn't there any auto network configuration so that i can connect internet where ever i go and let the system auto configure network settings like in windows XP auto IP configuration detect.
    7. etc/nsswitch.conf
in this i can't see "hosts: files" but i could see rest of the details. so I inserted "hosts: files dns" in the third line and saved.
I ran the following command in the terminal to find the details:
    #ypmatch host-name hosts
ypmatch: the domainname hasn't been set on this machine

    #nismatch nameserver-name hosts.org-dir
    hosts.org-dir: Error in accessing NIS+ cold file.......is NIS+ installed?
actually during installation i selected DNS type for network giving a wrong nameserver and domain got skipped later
    #getent ipnodes dns (no response)
so all these things i did and found by seeing the forum guidelines. I can see the network connection has receivinh and sent packets seems to be working but can't browse internet, also can't ping a website.

  • I have recently unlocked my iPhone 4. I got the comforation saying it was unlocked. For some reason I cannot access my network settings? Any suggestions. I am trying to use the phone on Net 10 network.

I recently unlocked my iphone 4. I am trying to use it on Net 10's network. However, i cannot access the network settings. I have the Net10 Sim already in it. A few notes listed below of what i have tried:
1.) I downloaded the iphone configuation utility. But  cannot get the right settings to apply. (so if you have the correct ones i could use those)
2.) i have watched 1000 youtube videos and been on practically every page online and tried 1000 different versions of APN settings through the configuration
3.) I do not have another SIM card from another carrier to try.
Open to suggestions on how i can get the APN settings to change. Not worried about picture messaging or anything, but would like my internet to work. Calls and text work fine.

i have seen this option..problem being...i dont have access to WIFI i live in the middle of ten buck too! We cant even get internet out here i have to go a friend house to get internet. I was going to try that once i did get to town but was looking for other options here at home frist.

the iphone update will download all 774 mb but each time the download finishes i recieve the same error message.

i have tried using 3 different internet networks and the connection have been fine.

I've been getting timed out for 2 days now, what finally worked for me was not plugging the phone into the computer and just doing the update through my wifi, worked perfectly, took less than 15 minutes

  • I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

Hello. First time using this. Still trying to figure out how to post my questions. I seem to have lost some of my settings and now I cannot configure my airport connection. How do I get my settings back?

If you are using cable and a Nethear router sounds like from the information you provide before your Airport setting are setup improperly. PPoE is not something a cable service would need to work. Fallow the steps I will provide bellow, I will add some screen shots also to assist if necessary.
1 - Open System Preferences from  (Menu)
    2 - Click "Network"
3 - From the Network window you are going to wanna make sure Location is : Automatic and Show is : Airport
4 - Once the Show: Airport is select you should see a window like this, my window is selected for Ethernet simply because I am no longer running Tiger but the window will look the same.
5 - You will want to click on the PPPoE tab and you should see this
6 - You're gonna wanna make sure " connection using PPPoE " is not select, if it is make sure to uncheck this option
7 - Once this is uncheck make sure to click "Apply Now"
8 - You will want to click back on to the "TCP/IP" tab and make sure IPv4 is set to " Using DHCP "
9 - If the option to " Apply Now" is available again please click this
10 - Once this is done go to your Aiport Menu and see if your network is listed and select your network and eneter the password if necessary.
11 - If after these steps you still have issues I would recommend Power Cylcing your Router and Modem for about 5 minutes
12 - Make sure all lights are off when unplugging the Router and the Modem
13 - Some Modems have backup batterys so you may have to push in a tiny button on the back with a pin
