Cannot download reader - missing plugin

HI! I can no longer seem to download adobe reader http://get.adobe.com/reader/
when I click on the link "Download Now" I get "install missing plugin" at the top of my page. if I click on the install missing plugin button the search finder cannot find a sutible plugin.
I use firefox and I the plugin used to work fine (last I used it was about a month ago). I checked the firefox plugin folder and its there. so I tried disableing it and then close firefox end then reopening it but no cigar.
The version of FF I have is 3.6.13 and the adobe reader is 9.4.1 and the plugin version is 9.4.0.195 ( I notice in the pluin window that is says "Loaded: NO"
I also tried to update it via firefox by clicking on the find updates and when is opens up the link at https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ is adobe plugin says "Adobe PDF Plug-In For Firefox and Netscape "9.4.1" OUT of date version."
I also get the same error for Adobe Shockwave for Director Netscape plug-in, version 11.5.8.612 Outdated Version.
can someone shed some light on the this?
Paul D

Try downloading the executable installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
As for Shockwave Player, download the executable installers from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/#sp

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
What do you mean by having no access to those apps? Can you start up your Mac and work with it, and only some OS X apps do not work?
Anyway, what you can try is to reinstall OS X. To do this, hold Command and R keys while your Mac is starting up and reinstall OS X. You will not lose any file.

  • Cannot download Reader: "Adobe wants to make changes?

I cannot download/install Reader on my iMac. Response is "Adobe wants to make changes." Asks for a password which I do not have or cannot remember. What should I do.?
    Don K.

If you don’t remember your administrator password, you can reset it using the Mac OS X installation disc.
Important:Because a user with the Mac OS X installation disc can gain unrestricted access to your computer, you should keep the disc in a safe place.
To reset the administrator password using the Mac OS X installation disc:
Insert the Mac OS X installation disc into your computer’s optical drive (or an optical drive connected to your computer), and then double-click the Install Mac OS X icon.
Note: If you’re using another computer’s optical drive, make sure your computer is set up for remote installation, and then go to step 3. For more information about remote installation, see:
Using Remote Install Mac OS X
In the Installer, click Utilities, and then click Restart.
When the Language Chooser appears, select your language, and then click the Continue button (looks like an arrow).
In the Installer, choose Utilities > Reset Password.
Follow the onscreen instructions to change the password.
Be sure to change the password for your login keychain to match your new account password so your keychain is unlocked when you log in.

  • Cannot Download Reader 9 - IE 7 Shuts Down

Running Vista (ugh). Everytime I try and download Reader 9 - IE7 shuts down - no message other than IE is closing down. Tried downloading from cnet and the official adobe site. Tried turning off firewall, antivirus, etc. No difference. Don't have any problems downloading any other software from different sites. Is there any place to download an earlier version of adobe reader that will work? Thanks...Michelle

A simple file download should not shut down your browser; if it does, I would suspect some malware infection. Sorry, this forum is not the right place to give you advice on how to handle this.
Try downloading the installer from http://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/9.x/9.0/enu/AdbeRdr90_en_US.exe

  • Can't download Acrobat Reader: Missing plugins

I got an error message AcrRd32.exe when trying to open a pdf file. I deleted the acrobat reader 9.3 so I could download Acrobat 9.4 but it won't download. It says I need an add-on but that isn't going so well either. Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Alan

I used a different browser to do the download  (IE) and it worked. Now I can read the pdf files.

Adobe Reader for Android supports all operating systesm 2.3 and newer, so if your device is showing as not supported, that is unexpected.

  • Anybody can help me.cannot download reader

  • Cannot download reader

After a few seconds a box comes up and :
    "Note: Application is already installed"
Reader is not on my computer.  How to install?

Could be the download manager it's referring to.
Go to ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.0/ and download/install  AdbeRdr1010_en_US.exe to see if that works. This will skip the download manager.

  • Cannot download Reader 9.

Error message states:  The instruction at "0x06290068" referenced memory at "0x06290068".  The memory could not be "written".
Don't know how to address this issue.

Thanks for your response.  I acquired the install utility but none of the Adobe elements showed up on the list for removal.  I was able to use it to remove some other unwanted items.  I did finally download Adobe Reader 9 by bypassing the automatic download feature.  Using this forum for the first time was educational.  It's great to know people are out there to help.

  • Sky Player - I am trying to register for the service but it says I have missing plugins but Firefox can't find any

I am trying to sign-up to Sky Player however I cannot do so because when I press the 'sign-up' button on the web page it refuses to take me to next page and the Firefox has a banner saying 'missing plugins'. When I click on that Firefox cannot find the missing plugins! I manually download some but it makes no difference.
Had similar problems in the past with other sites and end up have to use IE instead!

    Install Silverlight.

  • Unable to Download Reader - Web Site Problem

I cannot download Reader due to a serious Adobe Web Site problem.
    When I go to -
    http://www.adobe.com/uk/
and select "download reader" - I get sent to
    http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
I then click on "install now" - and I get sent to
    http://www.adobe.com/uk/
AND SO IT GOES ON AND ON IN CIRCLES.
I require the circle breaking so I can download a copy of the Reader software.

I have run Regedit and found two instances of z:rc204D Content\iPad Media\Pictures in keys My Pictures
    These were in
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\Shell Folders
    and
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Redirecting these to the default MY PICTURES on the c: drive has allowed the installer to run and almost complete the process to the point of installing the files and putting an icon on the desktop.
It now whinges with Error 1923. Service Acrobat Update Service (AdobeARMService) could not be installed. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.
I am the only user of the computer and DO have full privileges. I get the same response when I run the installer program as An Administrator.
What else does it require to allow it to install properly?

  • I am trying to download Adobe reader latest version and when I hit download a bar appears at the top of the screen telling me to install missing plugins but firefox states plugins up to date what can I do?

I am unable to download Adobe reader to update my system as I only have version 7 on my computer. Normally I would be able to download direct from Adobe and my system would update but when I try to download a message bar appears which states on the left hand side "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page" and on the right hand side there is a button which states "install missing plugins". When I click on the button a dialog box appears which states "no suitable plugins where found with a message next to a manual install button "unknown plugin(application/getplusplusadobe16299)

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Cannot install Flash Player - says I need to download missing plugin

    Firefox 3.6.10
Windows XP, SP 3, 32 bit
I always have to uninstall my current flash player before installing a new version.  So I uninstalled, but when I try to install the new version, I get a message at the top that I need to install a missing plugin.  All I get when I go there is GP.XPI downloaded which does nothing at all.  What do I need to do?  Thanks for any help!!

GP (GetPlus) is the Adobe download manager.  Download the Flash Player installer directly from http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe (for Firefox) and you will not need any DLM.
