Cannot edit calendar events on iphone

Cannot edit calendar events on iphone with most of the calendars, one personal calendar has the Edit button available but only on a few events--not all. We hosting the calendars through an ical server, running OSX 10.5.8.
The software is up to date on the computer and on the iphone. Any ideas how to get the edit feature to appear?

The edit feature was working correctly with the calendars and stopped. Performed a sync through iTunes removing syncing preferences first. Did not resolve the issue. I am considering restoring the iphone.

  • After restoring my backup to a replacement iPhone, I cannot edit calendar events. Am using iOS5

My iPhone4 died and I had to replace it.  Apple told me first to download iOS5 to the new phone then to do a restore.  Everything got restored, but I cannot no longer edit any of the events in my calendar regardless of where I created I them.  I can still edit them on the MacBook Pro, to which I back up events.  I appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try Settings>iCloud>Calendars>On.

  • After iOS5 upgrade, iPod touch 2nd gen won't let me edit calendar events

I have an iPod touch 2nd gen with the old processor, so I'm stuck using iOS 4.2.1 on the touch.
Meanwhile, I have a MacBook and new iPad running Lion/iOS 5.
Before I upgraded to iOS 5, I could edit calendar events from either my macbook or from my Touch.  Now, I can't edit calendar events on the Touch, and when I add new ones from the Touch, the options are restricted (e.g., I can't designate which calendar the item belongs to).
Please help!  This functionality is very important to me because I take the Touch to work, but not my other mac devices, so I need to be able to edit on the go.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot Edit Calendar on iPhone after saving - iPhone 2.0

I was very happy to have all my calendars on my iPhone. However, I found a bug (I hope it is a bug/oversight and not by design). When you enter an event in the iPhone calendar app, choose the specific calendar and save it everything is fine. It's when you try to go back and edit it. If you need to change the specific calendar, you can't. There is no option in the edit screen.
If I'm missing something, someone let me know. I cannot find where I can change an event's calendar on the iPhone 2.0 once it's been saved. I sent this to Apple Feedback but wanted others to realize this. It looks like the only workaround is to delete the event and re-enter with the revised calendar. Hopefully this will be fixed.

I found the fix from another post. Fix was posted by cmaglinger.
You have to match the capitalization or the exact format of your email address from active directory.
On my iPhone, I first had exchange configured with all lowercase characters for my email, but my email in AD had some capitals. So, I just changed my iPhone to match AD.
That fixed 2 things for me:
    1) Quit getting invitations from everything that I created even if just me attending.
    2) I am now able to edit all appointments wether created on pc or iPhone.
    Hope this helps you too.

  • Cannot add calendar events to my iPhone 5

I have never been able to add calendar events to my phone. There is one event listed from Facebook and I cannot delete it. The + to add an event is grayed out. When I ask Siri to add a calendar event it asks what day and I can say today, then it asks what time the event is, then I pick a random time and it says "okay shall I schedule this event?"  and I say yes and then it says "sorry I'm afraid I can't do that". I have no idea why I am unable to add events, but I really depend on my virtual calendars.

    Hello Amcha75,
It sounds like you are unable to add a new event to your calendar either manually, or with Siri and you have an event from Facebook that no matter what you do you cannot delete. I was thinking that the Default Calendar may be set to a calendar that you do not have permission to edit. You can check this in the Settings:
Several settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars affect Calendar and your calendar accounts. These include:
Syncing of past events (future events are always synced)
Alert tone played for new meeting invitations
    Default calendar for new events
    Default time for alerts
Calendar time zone support, to show dates and times using a different time zone
    Which day starts the week

  • Cannot sync Calendar to new iPhone: OutlookSyncClient.exe error

Hello. I just got my 4GB iPhone yesterday and started experiencing Calendar synchronization problems immediately. Everything else syncs fine, just not the calendar. The error I get is:
"OutlookSyncClient.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
I have researched and have already uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, and Apple related software, ran a registry cleaner, made sure all iTunes folders (except playlist and music folder) were gone and reinstalled. No luck there.
I have also uninstalled Office 2007 and all Apple related software, reinstalled, no luck either.
    My PC is as follows:
    HP Pavilion m7650n
Windows XP Media Center Edition with SP2
    Intel Core Duo 2
    1.86Ghz
    2GB memory
    360GB hard drive
My iPhone has the latest update of 1.0.1 and I am running iTunes version 7.3.2.6, which I downloaded off of the Apple website this morning.
My calendar is a critical part of my life, I work full-time, constantly scheduling appointments with customers, and I do work on the side, so I really need this to work.
I am a PC technician so I am comfortable editing and manipulating my PC, so any and all suggestions are welcome!

I would suggest doing a PST swap to see if that helps. These are the instructions I typed up, but I use Outlooks 2003. Since you are tech savvy, you can figure them out for 2007.
    Troubleshooting Outlook Sync Problems
Many iPhone users have reported problems syncing with Outlook 2003 and XP (and other versions), and the reinstall of applications is not helping. Based on what I have read and my own experience, I have a theory.
My theory is that old recurring events, possibly created in an older version of Outlook and that you've had for a while, are causing the problem. It could also be new recurring events with weird recurrences (like the 4th weekday of every month). In any case, my money is on recurring events and some sort of corruption in the PST file that iTunes is simply not handling gracefully.
Here is a simple test you can try.
Find the Outlook PST file that contains all your data.
In Outlook 2003, click on File / Data File Management. That will display where your Post Office (PST) file is. Click on "Open Folder" to open a Windows Explorer window showing the file. Then, close Outlook.
Rename the file. This will make Outlook not be able to find it. Then restart Outlook.
Outlook will complain it cannot find the file, and open a browse window asking you to find it. Don't. Just create a new one by typing a name (like temp) in the Create/Open Personal Files windows, and hit enter. This will prompt you to create a new file. At this point, simply hit OK. Outlook may quit, so restart it again.
This will start Outlook with a brand new PST file. Now create a couple of sample contacts and calendar events, and sync.
    Does it work?
My guess is that it will. This could prove the sync process works, and that iTunes just doesn't like your PST file.
Next step is to go back to File / Data File Management and open the folder where your PST files are. Close Outlook and delete your temp file. Make a COPY of the original file. This is important, because working with a copy will ensure you have a backup you can go back to in case something gets messed up. Then restart Outlook.
Since you deleted the temp PST file, Outlook will again complain it can't find the file, and ask for you to create or open one. This time, rather than create a new one, open the COPY of the PST file you made.
Now, change the calendar view by clicking on View / Arrange By / Current View / Recurring Appointments. Select all the recurring appointments and delete them. Try to sync again.
Does it work? My guess is that it will. This will prove that a recurring appointment was causing the problem. You can try deleting just the yearly recurring appointments first, which I suspect are the culprit, but you can test different combinations if you like.
If none of this works, you can always delete all temp and copies of PST files and reopen your original one. You will be no worse off than when you started, but this at least gives you a chance to troubleshoot the problem. Good luck!

  • Cannot edit calendar category

Not sure why this hasn't been corrected yet, but on both the iPhone and the iPad, once you create a calendar event, you cannot edit the category. You can only do this via the Mac app or MobileMe. Why???

    To clarify...
When I create a calendar item on my iPhone or iPad, I choose which calendar (category/group/type, whatever). I said category to imply I had set up different calendars. So for instance, most of the time I will select the "Work (green)" calendar which happens to be the default.. The problem is that if I accidentally save the item in the wrong calendar, I cannot change it on the iPhone or iPad.
Here's a scenario to make sure everyone is crystal clear on this...
I create a new event, input the time, place, alarm, notes and then I save it. Oops, I meant to save it as a "Personal (blue)" calendar event, but it was saved as a "Work (green)" event. Now, I have to go to MobileMe and change it because I cannot do so on the iPhone or iPad.
Okay now, hope that clears it up.

  • Since installing OS5 and iCloud, I can no longer edit calendar entries on iPhone 4.

Yesterday I installed OS5 and iCloud on my iPad, MacBook Pro and iPhone 4. I am able to edit calendar entries (old or new) on both the iPad and MacBook Pro. PROBLEM: there is no longer the option to edit calendar entires on my iPhone 4. I have checked under list, day and month viewing options.
Event details can be viewed but the button to edit is not appearing.
Most (if not all) of my calendar entires were created on my iPhone 4.
If I create a new calendar entry on the phone, I can edit it... but I think once there's a sync the edit option will again disappear. Waiting to confirm that.
I saw a posting about a year ago indicating this had happened before and was due to some mismatched account information, but I've checked each of my products and they all seem to have the same iCloud email and password information.
Is this a glitch or am I missing something? What do I need to change or adjust to be able to again edit calendar entries on my phone?
    Please help. It's my lifeline.

If it happens again then try some basic steps like these:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SYNC GOOGLE MAPS INTO MY CALENDAR EVENTS on IPhone

I often find myself with spurts of time where I can look up the location of my events, but when I am on the move I don't have a lot time. It would be very helpful to be able to attach locations into my events so that when it's time to go to that event I'm not scrambling trying to find out where it is. I think this would also be helpful for people, like myself, who maintain an executive's calendar and can streamline their day as well. If there is already a way to do this please help...otherwise someone with the means to do this (ie apple/mac) should include this into the next update.
Thank you for reading this and if you can offer any help it is much appreciated.

    This works for me...
    1. From the Maps app, drop a pin and position it where your event is
    2. share that pin location via an email or MMS to yourself
    3. copy that location from the email/MMS
    4. paste it into the Notes section of your calendar event
    5. you'll then have a link to Google maps in your event for your event location
    ...all from your iPhone.

  • How to edit Calendar events?

If i am invited to an event i get an email with the .ics attachment. I add it to my calender and then accept the invite.
If the times are then changed i get another email with the new times on the email and a new .ics attachment.
The new .ics attachment on the email update still has the old times on it (and if the times were new i still cannot do anything with the attachment - there are no options to put it in my calendar).
I cannot edit the original calendar event to the new times.
I cannot delete the old event without declining it first.
Even if i could delete the old event with the old times i then have to make my own calendar event  (which then doesn't link in with the organisers event and doesn't show my attendance).
Why does my calender event not update automatically once the revised times have been emailed to me?
I have "shared calendar alerts" enabled but all it does is send me an email about modifications, i cannot edit the actual event anywhere.
Am i doing something wrong? have i missed something?
    Thanks

You don't say what it is you want to change, but if you simply want to consolidate:
Select a calendar in the list, choose file>export.
Select file>import, choose the file, and select the destination calendar. (The destination calendar can be one which you sync with Google Calendar.)
When you're happy all is where you want it, delete the original calendars.
As always, take a backup before you start - just in case!

  • IOS 7: Unable to push calendar events to iPhone/ No iPhone Calendars Available

Hi, so I have an iPhone that is not properly merging with iCloud calendar events. As in: the events in iCloud are not pushed down to the iPhone Calendars app.
I can see the events via www.icloud.com
    I've turned calendars off/on.
Deleted the iCloud account and re-added and merged with iCloud.
I've deleted the iCloud accout, deleted the data from the iPhone, then reset all settings and tried to sign in and merge again.
All email calendars are turned off.
I'm using the same Apple ID that has the calendar events.
When I open the Calendar app, it won't allow me to add a new calendar event either.
Then when I press Calendars in the Calendar app it only has the Birthday calendars.
There's nothing that says: iPhone calendars.
When I press 'edit' it doesn't allow me add a new calendar (iPhone/Work/Birthdays).
Is there any Setting/troubleshooting that I can change/do so that the iPhone Calendars option re-appears?

I had all sorts of headaches trying to get this to work. But yes, you can do a 1-way sync from Outlook to Google Calendars to make sure Google has ALL your events. You then turn on sync on the iPhone, so the three are in sync.
What I did (do not try this at home ) is I deleted my Google Calendar and turned off sync on the iPhone (deleting the calendar data from my iPhone). I started with ONE source of appoinments. I then removed/reinstalled the Google sync app on my PC and initiated a 1-way sync from Outlook to Google. Now Google had a brand new calendar with all my appointments. I then turned on 2-way sync between my PC and Google. Next step, turn on calendar sync on the iPhone. That way all the appointments from Google (which are all the appointments from Outlook) downloaded onto my iPhone. Voila!

  • Cannot script Calendar Event 301

We were looking at writing a script which would default the Reference URL in an event to itself if no Reference URL had been supplied. Users can add an event, but then they cannot go and edit it after it has been added.
However, Calendar Event (301) is not in the list of classes to choose from when creating an event.
Any thoughts on how to write a script in reference a calendar event?

  • Cannot edit imported events

I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but wondering if others are having this issue.
When I import an event (for example from evite.com) it gets entered into my calendar. However, I am unable to edit the event. I can't change the location, time, or any other category. I'm guessing this is because it sees the event as not belonging to me.
I should be able to edit an event regardless of ownership. It's on my calendar. If iCal warned me that I shouldn't edit it, that's one thing. But not allowing me to edit it is another.
I was able to make the necessary changes through MobileMe, but I shouldn't have to do this.
    Is this a bug?

I have the same issue. Specifically, I cannot edit events imported from facebook using the "Export" link. I wouldn't call it a bug as much as an ease of use issue/poor design. I just performed a work-around that was kludgey, but worked. I don't know if all the steps are necessary, but here's what I did. I copied the event and pasted it into another calendar. I then double-cliecked the event to view it. Facebook auto-populates the attendees field, so when I pasted it into the new calendar, it let me add or delete new attendees and click send. Even though I deleted the attendee, it still sent an email to them saying the event was cancelled (?!), but then, after it was sent, I double-clicked the event and the send button changed to an update button and all the fields were editable. So I changed everything and clicked update. This time it did not send an email and changed the event info, including putting it back in the original calendar. After that, every time I double-click the event, it's editable (no edit button) with a done button. Weird. Every other event has an edit button to make changes. I definitely think this is just poor design.
