Cannot enable HDD vibration protection

I disabled the vibration protection and cannot enable it again. I have accessed utilities and the screen to turn it on is greyed out.
I called Toshiba support and they told me to restore to a previous date. No matter what date I choose, I receive an error every time I try to restore.
Any suggestions?

Hi
Which error you receive exactly if you try to restore to an earlier point?
As far as I know HDD proection utility creates also a new service. That means you should also check if the service can be started properly in start > run > services.msc
And as Paolo30 worte you should try reinstalling the application. I dont know which notebook you have but normally you can find everything here:

  • I cannot enable find my mac

    As the title says, I cannot enable find my mac, i am running 10.8.2, and cant see any updates in the app store,
    I've looked up some things and I think that my recovery hd isn't up to date, there is a patch for updating you recovery hd, but only for 10.7,
    Any ideas on fixing this? I read that rerunning the mountain lion install would recreate the recovery hd (question: would i lose my data?), but when i try to run it it says:
    this disk isn't using guid partitionlabeling, change it with diskutility, but in diskutility i cant find a way to change this..
    thanks for the help

    You have a very strange partition table because of three reasons:
    It's MBR, and you need a GUID partition table.
    You have the Boot Camp volume above your OS X volume.
    You have three partitions on your hard disk, and Boot Camp only allows two partitions on the hard disk.
    You need to erase the whole hard disk, so you have to make backups. For OS X, you can use Time Machine to back up your hard disk or you can use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a clone on an external disk. For Windows, use WinClone. You will need an external disk, so if you haven't got one, you should buy it.
    Then, to install Mountain Lion, as you haven't got the Recovery HD for Mountain Lion, you can use Lion Diskmaker to copy the Mountain Lion installer onto a DVD or USB drive.
    After doing all those steps, follow these ones to install Mountain Lion again on a GUID partition table.
    Open Boot Camp Assistant and delete the Boot Camp partition. If it doesn't allow you, skip this step.
    Insert the USB drive or DVD with Mountain Lion, press Option key while your Mac is starting and choose the DVD or USB drive with Mountain Lion.
    OS X Utilities window will appear, so open Disk Utility. Here's when the fun starts.
    Select your hard disk at the top of the sidebar and go to Partition tab.
    On the window, choose "Options" and select GUID Partition Table. Then, press OK.
    You will return to the Partition. Select each partition one by one on the bar and press - button until all disappear.
    Then, press + button, choose "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" in Format and press Apply.
    When it has finished, close Disk Utility and install OS X. It can take from 15 minutes to 30, depending of the disk you are using to install Mountain Lion and if you are installing it onto a HDD or SSD.
    When the installation finishes, restore the backups so you will leave your Mac as it was before erasing the disk

  • Enabling Global Script Protection is not working while adding "&"

    Hi All,
    To prevent crosssite scripting attacks I ticked the the check box "Enable Global Script Protection" in CF admin. But it is not working , I mean not able to prevent the scripting attacks.
    Steps I followed
    1] I executed the below URL.
         https://xyz.abc.com/index.cfm?cardholder_number=&<script>alert(1)</script>
    2] In the fornt end I got a javascript alert message as injected in the URL.
    But this alert message should not come as I have enabled script protection in CF admin. Right????
    Now I removed "&" (https://xyz.abc.com/index.cfm?cardholder_number=<script>alert(1)</script>) from the above URL  then I was not getting the javascript alert message. Does this mean that script protection will not work if we are adding "&" to the URL????.
    I searched the neo-security.xml and its looks like below.
    <var name='CrossSiteScriptPatterns'><struct type='coldfusion.server.ConfigMap'><var name='&lt;\s*(object|embed|script|applet|meta)'><string>&lt;InvalidTag</string></var></st ruct></var>
    Can any one help me out to fix this.

    Abdul L Koyappayil wrote:
    But still one doubt remains why alert message is coming only when there is "&" in the URL??
    This happens with "&" because it is a special Javascript symbol whose purpose is to delimit - that is, separate - the key-value value pairs in the URL's query-string. For example, in the URL www.myDomain.com/index.cfm?a=1&b=2, the "&" delimits the query-string into the 2 key-value pairs
    a=1
    b=2
    Let us then consider the case where the URL is www.myDomain.com/index.cfm?cardholder_number=&<script>alert(1)</script>. The & will delimit the query-string into
    cardholder_number=
    <script>alert(1)</script>
    The presence of '&' implies there are 2 variables. However, there is only one '=' sign, which means there is just one key-value pair. In addition, cardholder_number is a legal name for a URL variable, whereas <script>alert(1)</script> is not. The browser therefore sends the following query-string to your application
    cardholder_number=EMPTY_STRING&<script>alert(1)</script>
    However, Coldfusion's scriptprotect feature will intervene and neutralize this to
    cardholder_number=EMPTY_STRING&<invalidtag>alert(1)</script>
    which is harmless. These will enter into Coldfusion as the URL variables
    cardholder_number=EMPTY_STRING
    EMPTY_STRING=EMPTY_STRING
    The special nature of '&' as delimiter is what prompts the browser to run the script. In fact, by default, browsers will run any Javascript that you place in the query-string. Run this, for example
    http://www.myDomain.com/index.cfm?<script>alert(1)</script>
    But what reason will I say if they are asking me why javascript alert is coming then.
    As you have just seen, the <script> tag cannot come in. The alert occurs at the browser - that is, at the client - but Coldfusion runs at the server. Communication between client and server is by means of the URL variables that the client sends to the server. For the attack to be effective, it has to be sent in the form
    sneakyVar=<script>alert(1)</script>
    That is not the case here.

  • "User" Library in the FontBook is "Off" and I cannot enable it. Help!

    Few weeks ago I decided to speed up my new Mac little bit by turning all fonts in the "User" Library "Off". Yesterday I needed some fonts which are in the User library, so I opened FontBook and tried to enable "User" library, but I could not. I cannot enable it anymore. I can click on "Enable "User"", but nothing changes. It remains with the "Off" label, and shows no fonts in it, while in reality there are 50 fonts there (~/Library/Fonts). Any ideas how to enable it again? Please help. Thanks in advance!

    Guntis Bukalders:
    Unless you have a good reason for having FileVault turned on, I suggest you turn it off. I can cause a lot of grief i get a bit too much on our HDD. It utilizes your HDD space for a sparse image approximately the size of your Users Folder.
    Is there a reason why you wanted it turned Font Book off?
    I enabling User in the Edit menu doesn't do it try this. Shut down your computer completely. Then try starting up in Safe Mode, log in, empty Trash, retart computer and log in normally. Open Font Book and try enabling user again.
    Good luck.

  • CANNOT Enable TURBO MEMORY For T400

    Hi there,
    I am a user of Thinkpad T400. The machine came with 2G turbo memory, but I cannot enable it in the 'Intel Turbo Memory Console', any advice?
    Thanks in advance.

    The screenshot shows the option to enable the TurboMem is blanked off. Have you tried starting the application as administrator. You then might have the option available.
    Could also check what is driver version of the application.
    You can check that by clicking "Help" tab followed by "About" in the Turbo Memory Console. Intel has released new driver ver 1.7. Driver ver (1.7.0.1029). I upgraded it from the Intel site, a few days ago, and it seems to work better than the previous driver.
    The drivers available with Lenovo are old.

  • Cannot play Adobe Access Protected Content in Chrome (version 30 and higher); Error 3321/3322?

    Symptom:
    An end-user cannot play Adobe Access protected content.  The client application returns a persistent 3321 (Individualization Error) or 3322 (Device Binding Failure) error code.
    Root Cause in Chrome Browser:
    Adobe Access DRM must create a unique machine identifier (I.e. "token") to identify the the device.  This token is provided to the Adobe Access license server during a license request to view DRM protected content.  If Chrome Browser disables the ability for Adobe Access DRM to create a unique machine identifier, playback of Protected Content will fail with a 3321 or 3322 error code.  By default, this setting is enabled and available to toggle in Chrome Browser version 30 and higher.  Unchecking this option will prevent Adobe Access DRM from properly functioning. A 3321 or 3322 error that persists after a call to resetDRMVouchers is an indicator that this setting may need to be changed.
    Resolution:
    In your Chrome settings:
    •             Click on "Show advanced settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Privacy" section, click on "Content settings…"
    •             In the subsequent "Protected Content" section, make sure that the following box is checked "Allow identifiers for protected content (computer restart may be required)".
      We are working with Google to allow better detection of this condition, so that the client will return a 3368 (User cancelled or user settings disallow operation) error code when the box is unchecked.

  • Ios 8.0.2 cannot turn off vibrate

    I have an iPhone 6 Plus, on 8.0.2.  I cannot turn off vibrate, nor can I change battery view to percentage.  It will allow me to flip the switch, but nothing really happens / registers with the phone.
    Vibration still on.  Battery percentage still doesn't show.
    Is there any fix?  The vibrate is annoying.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Next step would be setting it up as new device without using the backup:
    iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
    If it works after that, use the backup to restore from. If the problem comes back, your backup contained damaged files, causing this issue.
    If still no luck, visit an Authorized Apple Service Provider to get it checked.
    Any restrictions enabled in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again to change the settings.

    I am able to unmonitor and monitor the resources manually. What is the cause of these WARNING messages? This from Oracle and we have yet to complete the installation of HA-Oracle. Oracle is not installed and tnsnames.ora and listener.ora is not configured. Is this the reason? If so, could someone explain why you cannot online the resource group until after the application has been installed.
    Thanks in advance,

    As the manual says for clrs create:
    By default, resources are created in the  enabled  state with  monitoring enabled. so when you issue the clrg online -emM it is just simply warning you that these other resources weren't disable. Note they wouldn't have been started because the RG would have been offline.
    Does that explain it? If not, ask more questions.

  • Cannot enable acrobat 8.1.3 addin in Word 2007

    Hi,
    I cannot enable acrobat 8.1.3 addin in Word 2007.  In Word 2007 I go to the top left circle, word options, Add-Ins, Disabled Application Add-ins,  Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin, and then "Go".
    I then see Acrobat PDFMaker Office COM Addin is unchecked.  When I check it, it notes that "This add-in is installed for all users on this computer, and can only be connected or disconnected by an administrator".  See attached jpg for details.  Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Joe

    As the instructions indicate, log in as the administrator and activate the option. If you do not have access to the administrator account, then ask your IT folks to do it for you.

  • Pooladm: cannot enable pools: No such file or directory

    I'm having a problem enabling pools in Solaris 10. I used a core installation and manually installed the SUNWpool, SUNWpoolr, SUNWzoner, and SUNWzoneu packages.
    When I try to execute "pooladm -e" to enable pools I get the following error:
    pooladm: cannot enable pools: No such file or directory
    Also, when I enable the svc:/system/pools:default service it errors into maintenance state with the same error in the log file.
    I believe the problem is related to the non-existance of /dev/pool, but I'm not sure why it is not there.

  • Cannot enable aero after turning on (and then off) battery stretch

    I have a T520 running Win7 x64. I turned on battery stretch in the power manager the other day, and after turning it off I cannot enable aero again.
    I've selected an aero theme, but windows does not turn on aero.
    A screenshot of my desktop settings is here - as shown I have a aero theme selected but both appearance and  properties tell me aero is disabled.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/440/aerok.png/
    I'm seeing a lot of advice on how to disable it but unsure which to follow. As this problem seems to have ben caused by the power manager I was wondering if any others had experienced this and could advise on how to fix it.

    I just tried to enable and disable it and it appears it is not reproducible.
    I suspect it somehow got confounded by the fact I have a few monitor configurations I use:
    1. Work - displayport to U3011 WQXGA and d-sub to a samsung UXGA
    2. Home - displayport to adapter to WFP3007 and laptop lcd as secondary screen
    3. Road - laptop lcd
    I quite often change the order in which I power/suspend/resume and plug/unplug the various monitors and windows (somewhat understandably) throws a hissy fit from time to time. So I guess this was just another case of that

  • HT5594 After updating to iOS7 on my iPhone4 I cannot enable location services. How do I enable location services? I have tried turning off restrictions but that did not work.

    After updating to iOS7 on my iPhone 4 I cannot enable location services. How do I enable location services? I have tried turning off restrictions but that did not work.

    I finally just resolved this after not being able to enable location services since upagrading to iOS 7. Posting the solution here 'cause I couldn't find it anywhere else.
    I enabled Restrictions under Settings > General > Restrictions and created a passcode (I'm not sure if this was part of the solution, but it wasn't enabled for me by default.)
    In Restrictions, under Privacy, Location Services was set to "Allow Changes" (This still didn't solve the issue of the greyed-out Location Services switch though - I still couldn't turn it on.)
    Also in Restrictions, I also switched "Find My Friends" to "Allow Changes"
    Once I did step 3, the switch under Settings > Privacy > Location Services was no longer greyed out and could be switched on.
    Hope this helps!

  • Oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException:Cannot enable auto commit within JTS transaction

    Hi All,
    OracleXMLSave class in the Oracle XDK is being used to load XML data into an 8170 database. The Java code is running in IBM WebSphere with container-managed transactions. When JTA is enabled with the Merant JDBC driver for Oracle, we get the following error when the XML is loaded:
    oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException: Cannot enable auto commit within JTS
    transaction
         at java.lang.Throwable.fillInStackTrace(Native Method)
         at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.saveXML(OracleXMLSave.java:2213)
         at oracle.xml.sql.dml.OracleXMLSave.insertXML(Compiled Code)
    This suggests the OracleXMLSave class is not aware of the fact that it is now operating in a JTS transaction where control is managed elsewhere. i.e. should also not attempt to commit or rollback, as this is the responsibility of the container.
    Is there a property which needs to set to prevent the above or does the XDK not work with J2EE (JTS) transactions?.
    If you have any useful comments, let me know. Testing the above presents me with a number of problems so if this is easily explained , let me know.
    Thanks,
    Malcolm

    Clearly , there does seem to be something a bit odd with the above stack.
    <Bug:1917808> mentions OracleXMLSave in context of plsql equivalent : dbms_xmlsave . i.e dbms_xmlsave is a wrapper around OracleXMLSave class.
    disabling autocommit on connection as follows should help:
    conn = DriverManager.getConnection("connect string","scott","tiger");
    conn.setAutoCommit(false);
    to disble auto commit and see if this has an effect.
    This issue might be <Bug:1497506>. If disabling autocommit does not work then it appears that it could be this issue .
