Cannot fill in a fillable form, AR 9.3.3, Mac OS 10.6.2

Using a Mac with 10.6.2, just updated to Reader 9.3.3.
I have downloaded a PDF that is supposed to have filable form fields. The forms properties say the Filling of Form fields is allowed.
I can get my cursor to blink in each field but cannot get text to that field.
I have tried  PDF/A - Never, does not help.
Appreciate some help.
thanks,
Rob

First, ignore that. It just says that IF there are fillable fields, you would be allowed to fill them in but doesn't mean they exist.

What tool do you have selected when you click those fields. You should have the hand tool selected. If you ave that selected and mouse over a field, what happens.
Also, if it were a fillable form, you should have gotten a message to that effect unless you have that message disabled.

I have a fillable form with text and check fileds on it, if a user filles it on a windows pc and saves it all works fine, but if a user does the same thing on a MAC then the text fields don't show.

  • Does the version of Reader matter when users fill out PDF fillable forms?

Created an application form for a client that he put on line. Some (50%) of the completed forms coming back to him via email are blank. The form was created in Acrobat Pro 8 (mac). Could there be a problem with users downloading/filling out the forms in a newer (or older) version of Reader that's not compatible with my form? They were instructed on the form to use Adobe Reader, so hope it's not an issue of them using a non-Adobe PDF reader (though I can't be sure). Thanks in advance for any help.

Adobe Reader should not have a problem working with the form. For Reader versions prior to 11 the document will need to be Reader-enabled in order for it to be saved. Reader 11 is able to save non-enabled forms created with Acrobat.
If the user used the Preview application on a Mac, the text fields will appear to be blank, but when one of the fields has the focus the entry will show up. Preview corrupts PDF form in a number of ways and should be avoided. With Acrobat you can export the form data to a data file (FDF/XFDF), open a blank form, and import the form data into the form. You can tell if this is the problem by looking at the PDF Producer: File > Properties > Description > PDF Producer
It will be different than what was originally there and be something like: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Quartz PDFContent

  • Fillable form on iPad doesn't print from Adobe Reader. Is there a fix yet?

I can fill in a fillable form but when I print it the filled-in text doesn't print. I just get a blank form. I'm using the latest Reader version on an iPad 2.  there a solution available yet?

It should work with the update to Reader 10.4. "Enhaned compatibility with AirPrint means improved printing of completed forms as well as documents with comments."
I don't have AirPrint on my printer to test. Is your printer AirPrint compatible?
I can get it to work with Printer Pro which I'm running on my iPad.

Well, try this (I was able to fix my with these steps):
    Go Utilities > Disk Utility
Select your Startup Disk, e.g. Macintosh HD
Then, under the First Aid Tab, click Verify Disk Permissions.
If there are errors, then click repair Disk Permissions.
After it is done, restart the computer and see if your problem is resolved.
    I hope this help.

  • I cannot fill in fillable forms.

When I click on the field, I get an error message that says window cannot acces path and I might noto have permissions. This has never happened before and I am really stuck. Anyone have any ideas?

  • Any reasons why the content of a fillable form cannot be viewed or printed?

I have created a 2-page form on Adobe Acrobat XPro. I emailed it to specific people and they filled it out, saved it and emailed it back. I am able to view what they typed in my monitor only, when I click on the field, but it will not print the content. Any reasons why the content of a fillable form cannot be viewed or printed?

That's what I asked the people I emailed the form to and someone just emailed me saying: "I'll check my adobe. It keeps asking me to update and I keep ignoring it so maybe it was my fault". So there is the answer I guess. I saved the document as an Extended PDF and selected Enable Additional Features. Is there anything else I should consider?

  • ?? Cannot Fill Form

I received a form from Shell USA for compensation.
The form is fillable: the security setting tells me that it is allowable to fill. The pointer can be directed to fillable fields, but I cannot type anything.I tried many diffeernt methods in vain.
I have Windows XP and Adobe reader 9.
I can copy the form in Word and fill it, but I cannot then return it in PDF.
Since this seems a very common problem there must be a simple solution ( by the way I am not going to sownload 800Mbytes of PDF adobe professional!
    Any help would be welcome,

As I commented in other threads, I researched the idea of deploying a web-fillable form in the most current versions of Adobe Acrobat and Reader ... and found it to be unreliable and intermittent (therefore, utterly useless) in its behavior.  Adobe Reader would randomly say that "the document has been changed, blah blah, contact the author for an updated copy," and refuse to allow the form to be filled.  But if you reload the page two or three times, suddenly it would work.
Obviously, this behavior is intentionally caused by "yet another one of Adobe's strange we-own-the-world license checks," poorly and incorrectly implemented.  We cannot deploy a solution to hundreds of stores that is not as perfectly reliable in Reader as it is on the developer machines that use Acrobat.  Therefore, I quickly recommended that my proposal should be abandoned in favor of ordinary web-based input screens ... a technology which we know to actually be reliable.
I would very frankly recommend that you do the same:  it doesn't actually work.  It had great promise, and technically the implementation is obviously solid, but Adobe's lawyers (and insufficient software quality-assurance) renders it non-viable.  (It is also worth observing that Adobe says absolutely nothing to a software developer about what sort of license-controls they actually have in place.  There's even talk in these forums about a "usage count" that drops-dead after 400 or 500 iterations.)
The "good" news is that this saved our company quite a lot of Adobe Acrobat software-upgrade expense:  we don't need to buy and deploy new product to take advantage of a feature that doesn't actually meet practical business requirements.
This is, by the way, not a "rant."  Business is business, and the only way to win the game is to actually cross that finish-line first.

  • Reader still cannot save fillable forms

I'm using LiveCycle Designer to create a fillable form that I wish to have sent back to me as a pdf or for the user to save the completed form locally. I have "Enabled Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" under the advanced tab. However, when I send the fillable form to my users with reader, sometimes they cannot even fill in the form because it says that the form has been altered since the rights were enabled(which it hasn't) and at other times, they can fill out the form and save it, but the saved file is just a blank form(They're not choosing Save a Copy). I do not wish to use LifeCycle ES Reader Extension because this is a small venture and I don't technically have a server I can access. Can someone give me some clue as to what I might still be doing wrong?

Sorry.. I thought I replied to this message earlier. Apparently not. In any event, Adobe Reader 9 is being used. There is no script that changes the appearance of the form as far as I'm aware. I downloaded a form from the form gallery.. and enabled the usage rights and then emailed it to myself. When I opened it on my laptop, it told me that the document had been altered since it had been saved(which it hadn't) and wouldn't let me fill in the form or save it.

I filled in a fillable pdf form and when i print it, the text in the fillable section gets cut off. What do I need to do to get the entire text to be printed. Any help is appreciated.

What has this to do with Pages? You probably did this in Preview.

  • I have developed a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro. The form has several fields and some of the information is captured in a bar code. What programs must be used to open the form to properly fill the form out?  Adobe Reader, Adobe Xi, Ibook, etc.. I

I have created a fillable form using Adobe Acrobat Pro that contains several data fields with some feeding data to a barcode in the document.  I have a "button" set up to save and send the completed form one it is completed.  Some of the user are having troubles filling out the form as they are using various programs to do such as iBook, Adobe Reader, etc....  Sometimes the information is not transferred to the barcode and sometimes the "submittal button" doesn't function properly.
Please provide a solution or give me a list of the programs that must be used to properly open and fill out the form.
    Greatly appreciated.

Best option is to use Adobe Reader (or Acrobat, of course) on a desktop computer (ie, not on a mobile device). Any other configuration is likely to be problematic.

  • How do I put a fillable form on our website so people can fill it out and send back to me

How do I put a fillable form on our website so people can fill it out and get it back to me.

    Hi;
This is a bit of a broad question, let me try to understand your needs a little better.
Are you looking to use FormsCentral to either create your form or create the form and collect and manage the responses?  Are you looking for a web/HTML form or a PDF?
FormsCentral allows you to create web/html forms that when they are submitted the data is sent to FormsCentral and in a Paid level subscription you can configure Email Notifications to email the results to you, they are also always available in FormsCentral to view and analyze.  For the web/HTML form you can simply add a link to the form on your website, or the web/HTML form can also be "Embedded" into your web site (there is Embed code on the Distribute tab).
FormsCentral can also create a PDF form, the PDF can either send the responses to FormsCentral like the web form with the same options (Notifications etc), and can also be a PDF form without a "Submit" button where you can then add a Submit button of your own that would email the responses to you.  This requires having Adobe Acrobat to edit the form and add your own Submit button.
If you do use PDF see this FAQ on PDF in the web - we do not recommend "embedding" the PDF into your web page, do not have the PDF open in the browser, the users should download the PDF and fill it out using the Free Adobe Reader: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4142
    Thanks,
