Cannot find Equium A210-1C4 support

Hello
I cannot find any information about the Notebook I have it is a EQUIUM A210-1C4 but I cannot find this in the initial drop down for support of the discontinued area.
I need to re-install the operating system but the supplied Product Recovery disk fails each time.
I now have a machine that will not boot and gets to the same stage each time.
Any ideas would be helpful

The Equium A210-1C4 belongs to the PSAFJE series.
You can find this number at the bottom of the unit
So you have to choose the A210 PSAFJE in the driver download form
I think this should be clear enough because instead of model numbers there are no other numbers listed on the driver page

Recently I have been unable to open the ATI Catalyst Control Centre on my Toshiba Equium A210-1C4 notebook. When I click the CCC icon on the start menu the tray icon opens but when I right click it and choose Catalyst Control Centre nothing happens but the tray icon is still there.
I was having a similar problem a while ago but instead of doing nothing the splash screen appeared and then Vista displayed the message 'ATI CCC has stopped working'.
Any ideas?

If Catalyst Control Center wont open it could be something wrong with display driver I would recommend reinstalling the display driver from official Toshiba website:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads > Download Drivers
Just search for your notebook model and download the newest version. Before you install it, remove the old one firstly and restart your notebook. Then install the downloaded version.

Equium A210-1C4 freezes frequently during Windows 7 startup

I have a Toshiba Equium A210-1C4 laptop and upgraded it to Windows 7 a while ago. I have a problem whereby frequently the OS freezes up whilst starting. This occurs frequently and happens after the 'Starting Windows' text appears but before the windows logo appears. When this happens I have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL to reset the system and bring it back to life, Windows 7 starts normally after this.
I have tried reinstalling Windows 7 and it still doesn't work. I am using the 32bit version if that makes any difference. I have installed all the Toshiba drivers using the [Toshiba Software Installer|http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/downloadDetail.jsp?soid=2475695&pf=true] and the problem still continues.

Would recommend checking the HDD firstly.
There is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test which could be downloaded from some 3rd party pages.
The tool is freeware and helps you to run some HDD diagnostic tests.
If the HDD would be ok, then the next step should be the RAM check.
The tools like memtest86+ could be used in order to test the memory.
But even if no errors would be detected, the RAM might be still affected I recommend testing the notebook with new RAMs
By the way: check if BIOS is up to date!

Equium A210-1C4: Winload.exe problem after using product recovery disk

I Could really do with some help here. I have a Toshiba Equium A210-1C4 Laptop. Partitioned drive with Vista home premium service pack 4.0.
Last night I used the product recovery disk supllied with the laptop to try and restore it back to its factory settings.
and the end of the process I'm left with a cmd prompt box with X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the blue top bit stating:
Error: imageX could not apply vista F:\05993xsp.swm Index 2 from ODD to C:\!
Press any key to continue. That box dissappears then another one with Administrator: X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the blue top bit stating:
waiting for ODD to become available...
ODD Drive F: ready.
check for medium in drive F:...
Failed to initialise the raid class.
No RAID - continue normally...
X:\windows\system32>
Now whenever the laptop tries to restart it just comes up with the error message:
WINDOWS FAILED TO START. A RECENT HARDWARE OR SOFTWARE CHANGE MIGHT BE THE
CAUSE
FILE: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WINLOAD.EXE
STATUS: 0XC000000E
INFO: THE SELECTED ENTRY COULD NOT BE LOADED BECAUSE THE APPLICATION
IS MISSING OR CORRUPT
Below I then have the option to esc or continue both with the same outcome of system trying to restart.
The recovery disk has no repair option on it.
please help, I haven't a clue.

It looks like something went wrong during the Recovery procedure.
Did you try to recover the notebook once again?
If not you should definitely try this!
You are right; the recovery disk hasnt a option for repair because the recovery disk is not the same like a MS Vista disk. The Recovery disk contains the image files (its a package) and the files contains the Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.
Therefore if something went wring during the recovery procedure, you will be not able to repair the OS installation but you have to run it again.

Equium A210-1C4 not recognizing optical disk drive

I have a Equium A210-1C4 which will not recognise the odd.
The drive has power and spins disks but does not appear as a drive in MY COMPUTER.
It also is not recognised in the Bios.
I have updated the Bios and tried to install the firmware but get message that the drive is not found.
I have tried is in another computer and it works fine.
Has anyone had similar problems and is there a solution?

You have tested optical disc drive in other computer?
Anyway, if the ODD is not recognized in BIOS Im afraid ODD controller is defective. It is mainboard issue so there is no some kind of easy solution.
I don't think you can do much about that except to exchange the mainboard.

Where can I find guides to replace backlight for Equium A210-1C4?

My Display Screen will not light up. I need to check a number of things, including the backlight, inverter and door switch. May need to replace the entire LED display.
Does anyone know of instructions to do these things with this particular model: Toshiba Equium A-210/1C4

Notebook disassembling is for authorized personal only so Maintenance manuals document is not available for download. It is not a public document.
If you want to do this alone use Google and check if you can find some instructions written by people who have such experiences or check if you can find some short movie on YouTube.

Equium A210-1C4 - Check BIOS Version

There are several BIOS Updates listed on the Toshiba downlaods website for my laptop. However, I cannot remember if I have already installed them. How do I find out the current BIOS version of my PC? Does it matter if I install them again if they are already installed?

If your notebook runs well you must not install anything, especially BIOS update.
Start your notebook and press F2 to enter BIOS settings. There you will see actual BIOS version.

Equium A210-1C4 - Using Recovery DVD after replacing hard drive

My laptops hard drive failed last year and had to be replaced. Vista was installed by the repairer.
However I now want to restore the system back to default.
Will my Toshiba Recovery Disc which I recieved with my PC still word despite the fact the hard drive is different? How can I tell?

This software is not known to me so I cannot say anything about that but why you dont backup just single files which are important for you?
I mean you can copy the pictures, movies, music, data, etc to external HDD and after the installation of OS from recovery disk you could copy all these files back to the internal HDD.

Where is the bios chip located in the Equium A210-1C4?

Have replacement bios chip for this model, but not sure where the bios chip is located on the motherboard?

The BIOS chip is soldered onto the mainboard, you just can't replace it. It also needs to be programmed before usage using a special EPROM machine..

Equium A210-1C4 is not powering up

Not sure if the battery has a charge or not to be honest, but the laptop does nothing when I plug in the original Toshiba mains charger. I have also tried a 3rd-party charger, with the same result (this charger works fine with another laptop).
I did notice that with the 3rd party charger, its little green power light indicator pulses continually when plugged into the Toshiba (not its normal behaviour with the other laptop, where the light stays on constant). Wondering if this might be a clue as to what has gone inside the Toshiba laptop, and maybe something in particular on the motherboard, (if it is that).

I m afraid this might be a serious hardware issue.. the blinking power led means that the power is abnormal and this can be caused by motherboard malfunction
Maybe its power electronic issue on the mobo
This means that the motherboard needs to be replaced :(

Cannot find phones that support sample app

I downloaded the "duece_interface" fla. sample files from
this site, opened it up, tried to test it in the flash lite
emulator, downloaded the latest device updates extension, and still
cannot find any models that support this app. Any clues? thanks.

You may be receiving the problem loading content error
because the SWF you are trying to load is not published as a Flash
Lite file. Also the JPEG may be too large in file size (not the
actual kB of the file) but the actual file size needed to decode
the image and render it in the Flash Lite application.

I cannot find a way to boot Satellite A300 from USB

Hi,
I need some advice please.
I have recently upgraded from an Equium A210-1c4 to a Satellite A300-1BZ.
The equium booted from USB no problem.
How do I set the A300 to boot from USB?

I tried that... it just boots to the HDD.
The DOS option menu from F12 lists only HDD1, CD/DVD and LAN - not USB ??
The BIOS boot options only list the same??
Is there an option to "enable" usb for the boot options?
Is there a bios upgrade from 2.7 that allows the USB to boot?

You can only connect to WLANs where you know the password.
If you see a WLAN, try to connect, enter your password and thats all.
On some WLAN you must know the SSID because its not visible.
But maybe you can explain your problem more exact.

Equium A210 - CMOS battery replacement possible?

My Toshiba Equium A210-1C4 appears to be having a CMOS battery problem in that it does not keep the BIOS settings.
I have bought a replacement main power battery and a/c adapter to rule out a/c power issues but the POST beaps and CMOS keeps coming up a Checksum error and once in the BIOS and save settings it boots successfully but if the laptop restarts or is switched off it does it all over again. I have also updated the BIOS successfully so it is not the BIOS chip. The only thing I can think of is replacing the CMOS battery - can this be done?
I have read that some are soldered on? Would Toshiba service this laptop to replace the CMOS battery / check for faults - if so, how much would it cost, or can someone else do it as the laptop is out of warranty.
Any advice please?

As far as I know some batteries are fixed/soldered on mainboard and cant replace but I think only a notebook technician can give you a detailed answer.
Normally you can charge the CMOS battery if you leave the AC/DC adaptor connected over night or in best case 24 hours. After this the battery should be fully charged.

Equium A210 hangs on Post when any key is pressed

Hi, I have a Equium A210-1C4 that has an odd error, when I boot the machine and don't touch the keyboard it loads into Windows fine and everything works as it should.
If the machine shuts down unexpectdley,on restart it shows the common selection of safe mode and so on with the countdown timer, if I try and select one of the other options with the arrow key the timer stops and the machine hangs (as soon as I press any key) I then have to power it off and allow it to boot without touching anything in order to get it working again.
The same thing occures if I try and press F8 on boot, it just hangs.
I can get into the BIOS settings and also select the boot order settings. The keyboard is functioning well within windows (no stuck keys) and I have reloaded the O/S and flashed the BIOS to try and resolve this.
The Laptop had Vista loaded origianlly but now is Win 7 - both O/S's have had the same issue

Since you traded keyboards and got the same results when booting into Windows, it sounds like a Windows issue. Running the Recovery disks would reimage the hard drive and probably fix the problem. However it would wipe out all of the programs, files and settings that you installed and set since you got the computer. It would fix the problem but could cost you a lot in time and preparation by having to backup all of your files, music and pictures. Plus you may need to let some of your program publishers know that you are doing a reimage so you can get your software reinstalled without having to pay a second time. Depending how much stuff you have to backup, this could be a very time consuming process to fix this one problem.
