Cannot get software RAID-1 going on root (/) on Sun V240's

Hi All,
I for the life of me cannot get software RAID-1 going on the root file-system. I've followed the instructions in Solaris Volume Manager Admin. Guide and I think I'm doing it right. This is in a Sun V240 with two 137GB drives.
I basically do the following:
Disk0 - c1t0d0s0
Disk1 - c1t0d1s0
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c1t0d0s2 | fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s2
prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c1t1d0s2 (Double check that disk 1 looks like disk 2)

You created to many metadatabases..
I'm not kidding, you did. You created 8 which i suspect trigged a bug which currently exists in Solaris 9 / Solaris 10.
This bug occours on the following disks: MAT3073N, MAT3147N, MAT3300N and ST373207LC, if you have any of those disks in your system (can be determined with iostat -En) you must use less than 8 replicas.
Check out bugreport 6244431, if you got a sunsolve login linked to a contract number.
You could try and boot up the system from a cdrom or similar and add "md_devid_destroy=1;" to the /kernel/drv/md.conf file above the 'Begin MDD database info' line.
hopefully your system will come up after this, if it does the best workaround is to remove a few replicas, the above line from md.conf and reboot.

Ok, instead of playing guessing games back and forth, can you upload that iclip stuff to one of the software download sites (e.g., mediafire, rapidshare, etc.) and gvie me the link so I can look at it myself? Of course if you already have a place I could just download it from that's fine too. There's stuff matching the string "iclip" on macupdate but I am not sure any of those matches are the one you are using (unless you say otherwise).

Cannot get Software Files Inventory

Hi All
I am trying to do a software files inventory to then create some local Apps but even though under the inventory configuration I have ticked the option, after doing an inventory scan I do a software files report and it says 0 machines inventoried. the version is 10.1.2.

I've been having problems getting my iphone to synv with my computer. Reinstalled itunes, but cannot get software installed on iphone 4

Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.

Cannot get migration assistant working from PowerBook to MacBook Air - what am I doing wrong?

I am proud possessor of a new MacBook Air with Mac OS X 10.7. Up to now, I used a PowerBook with Mac OX X 10.4.11. Although the two macs - old and new one - are connected via the same WLAN network, I cannot get the migration assistant going. The two cannot find each other, although they are only 5 centimetres apart....what am I doing wrong? Do I need an update for the PowerBook? And if yes, which one? Or should I give up?

Encrypted root on software RAID with 2.6.33

Hi,
I ran an update earlier today on my HTPC, hoping for mantis included in the 2.6.33 kernel to work with my TV-Tuner card, when I recognized that the configuration for software-raids changed.
So I followed the instructions on: Installing with Software RAID or LVM and added the dm_mod module to the MODULES list and replaced raid with mdadm in the HOOKS list resulting in
HOOKS="base udev autodetect sata mdadm usbinput ecrypt filesystems"
After that I successfully rebuilt the kernel and decided it was time for a reboot, but after running the hooks udev, mdadm and encrypt, the screen shows:

root device '/dev/mapper/root' doesn't exist. Attempting to create it.
ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/mapper/roo'.
You are being dropped to a recovery shell.
cat /proc/mdstat shows no configured raid arrays, while assembling them with mdassemble works.
I've tried to boot with and without specifying the raid arrays in grub's kernel line, always with the same result.
Even after booting from a live CD an chrooting in the system to rebuild the kernel - same error message.
Any ideas what I've done wrong?

Did you purchased the Full Perpetual License from Adobe for $149.00?, if so then what has happened is that you probably downloaded the Creative Cloud trial version which has now expired.
The license key for the perpetual version will not be accepted to activate the CC version.
Uninstall the existing Lightroom and then download the one available from the link below. The uninstall process will not affect your Catalog, Preferences or personal files but will just remove the application. Install the new download and you license key will be accepted.

Here are some general tips to keep your Mac's hard drive trim and slim as possible
You should never, EVER let a conputer hard drive get completely full, EVER!
With Macs and OS X, you shouldn't let the hard drive get below 15 GBs or less of free data space.
If it does, it's time for some hard drive housecleaning.
Follow some of my tips for cleaning out, deleting and archiving data from your Mac's internal hard drive.
Have you emptied your Mac's Trash icon in the Dock?
If you use iPhoto, iPhoto has its own trash that needs to be emptied, also.
If you store images in other locations other than iPhoto, then you will have to weed through these to determine what to archive and what to delete.
If you use Apple Mail app, Apple Mail also has its own trash area that needs to be emptied, too!
Delete any old or no longer needed emails and/or archive to disc, flash drives or external hard drive, older emails you want to save.
Look through your other Mailboxes and other Mail categories to see If there is other mail you can archive and/or delete.
STAY AWAY FROM DELETING ANY FILES FROM OS X SYSTEM FOLDER!
Look through your Documents folder and delete any type of old useless type files like "Read Me" type files.
Again, archive to disc, flash drives, ext. hard drives or delete any old documents you no longer use or immediately need.
Look in your Applications folder, if you have applications you haven't used in a long time, if the app doesn't have a dedicated uninstaller, then you can simply drag it into the OS X Trash icon. IF the application has an uninstaller app, then use it to completely delete the app from your Mac.
To find other large files, download an app called Omni Disk Sweeper.
Download an app called OnyX for your version of OS X.
When you install and launch it, let it do its initial automatic tests, then go to the cleaning and maintenance tabs and run the maintenance tabs that let OnyX clean out all web browser cache files, web browser histories, system cache files, delete old error log files.
Typically, iTunes and iPhoto libraries are the biggest users of HD space.
move these files/data off of your internal drive to the external hard drive and deleted off of the internal hard drive.
If you have any other large folders of personal data or projects, these should be archived or moved, also, to the optical discs, flash drives or external hard drive and then either archived to disc and/or deleted off your internal hard drive.

Maybe this can help someone else... I simply had to properly uninstall CS3 and reinstall it again after that. I think that sorted it! I also remember having a similar issue with Macs at work a couple of years back. Not sure whether the same applies to CS5/CS6.
