Cannot get the audio tracks to stay in sort order

Grrr... I importted CD #1 of an audio book and it looks fine in the playlist and fine in the shuffle. But, when I go to play it, it tries to start with the last item. Then, when I go back into Itunes, they are in reverse order. I sort them (did look thru the threads here before posting) and get off and boom, they are in reverse order again. Go back to itunes and they are in reverse order on thte shuffle. How do I get them to stay from 1 to 99 instead of 99 to 1? I have spent ALL evening on this and am not a happy camper.

PS - it worked fine on the first audio book but not the second or third...

This is not an option in itunes. The only way to rectify the problem is to rename each track with a prefix so that the alphabetical order is the actual order. I have been trying to solve this problem for a couple of years, hoping that each itunes update will come with a fix, but nothing. As it turns out, if I had spent less time searching every forum and discussion on the web to solve this problem and just changed the names in the first place, I could have saved myself a ridiculous amount of time. Go to the Map mode in your iDVD project and make sure the blue bin at the left is empty. That's where you drag slideshows to if you want the DVD to open immediately to that slideshow and bypass the menu.

ICloud and iTunes, cannot get the check boxes to stay checked under preferences for iTunes to keep automatic downloads for iCloud, how can I fix this?

When using my iPhone and Macbook with iTunes, I cannot get the checkboxes to stay checked in iTunes to use the automatic downloads for iCloud. It is so frustrating. I check box them and hit ok under store preferences for iTunes, and when I go back in, they are unchecked. I am so excited to use iCloud with my iPhone downloads and it is not working, if I can't get it to work with this, I am never going to get it to work for documents. Please help.

How do I get the audio track to stick with the video track?

Sounds like Linked Selection is switched off. Check the button in the upper right of the timeline window. Shift-L will toggle it off and on.

A music track I purchased only partially downloaded. I am unable to re-download it again as there is no option, so cannot get the full track I have purchased. Any ideas?

I purchased an 8 minute music track on itunes which only downloaded about 22 seconds. It does not give me the option to re-download what I purchased on itunes, only to play it - so it only re-plays the partially downloaded track. I know the full track is available as I managed to download it to my iphone but when i connected my iphone to itunes the one which was only partially downloaded saved in my music directory overwrote the full version I managed to get on my iphone so I'm back to square one again. Any ideas? Thanks

Delete the track from the iTunes library, allowing iTunes to move the track file to the Trash. Then download the track again from the iTunes Store via this procedure:

That fixes the problem for many people. If problems with the track persist, go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

HT1449 I moved my itunes library to the time capsule. Everytime I put the computer to sleep, I have to change the location back to the time capsule. I cannot get the iTunes library to stay located in the time capsule.

My itunes library does not stay in its new location in the time capsule. Every time I put the computer to sleep or leave it alone for awhile, the itunes location goes back to the original location in the macbook. Then I have to change the location back to the time capsule and wait for it to reorganize all the files again. So the question is how to keep my itunes in its new location the time capsule?

We're all users here...not pros...so you'll get few definitive answers on a forum with varying opinions about almost every subject.
My opinion would be this: Apple designed the Time Capsule for Time Machine to automatically backup all the files on your Mac and other Macs in the household on a regular basis and provide a way to retrieve a file that had been deleted recently by mistake. It's a pretty good router as well.
If you check the info about the Time Capsule on Apple's site, the main features mentioned are backup of your Macs and a dual band wireless network capability.
The Time Capsule was never designed to be a media server housing audio, video and other multi-media files and has never been promoted as such. Nevertheless, some users seem to have adopted the stance that this should be one of the benefits of the device, if not a main feature.
There may be a need for media server type device, but the Time Capsule, at least at this time, is not the answer. If you feel otherwise, you might want to speak directly to Apple and let them know via Time Capsule Feedback.

I cannot get the audio to work using my new P221 HP monitor. Can someone please help me?

I wrote once before but I must have mislabeled my message. Haven't been able to even find my question much less any replies. I purchased an HP 221 Monitor with installed speakers, I am a novice at computers and didn't really know what I would need to install the monitor. I find that I can connect the VGA cable with no problem. But th DVI-D cable cannot be installed on my computer due to no connection there. My computer is an HP Model P 6600Z, desktop PC. It is operating on windows 7 and browser is Internet Explorer. I purchased an adapter with a female cable adapter to attach to the monitor cable and then I connected it to my PC using a the USB supplied with the
adapter. It still doesn't work. I guess I can install external speakers but the main reason I bought this monitor was becasue it has internal speakers. Thanks.

I am sorry for the confusion. The reason I asked about the speaker bar is that I can't find any information that shows built-in speakers on your monitor. I have looked everywhere, including in the HP specifications.

The way that I have always connected speakers is to the port labeled # 5 (Audio: Front speaker/Line Out). This port allows sound to be sent to speakers. The VGA port is for video only. There is no audio capability. The only connection that sends Audio and Video is the HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connectors.
This is the type of connector that I would expect to see coming from your speakers:

Please check the monitor carefully to assure that there are actually speakers built-in. I just don't want us to continue fighting a problem that doesn't exist. There may have been some incorrect information in the advertisement that you read.

When editing, I can't get the audio track to play on cue

I like to make highlight videos by first adding music,then going back and adding video and audio clips. Af first, it works smoothly but as I get 4 or 5 minutes into it, I'll want to listen to the music to try to "match up" with lyrics, it lags behind or want come on at all. Sometimes, if I just go back a few clips and then start the playback it will eventually jump in. There is no video with it, either. This really hampers my projects in later stages and drives me crazy. Can somebody help me?

I'm surprised to not get any responses. No one else experiences this or no one knows how to fix it. Please give me some feedback.

I have an Airport Express that works fine but cannot get the audio to connect or play through my Samsung AV-R370 receiver. I

I bought a 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm connecting cable to connect the Express to some outlet on the receiver back but am unsure which one to connect to. They have a combination of coaxial and optical plugs, nothing looks like a 3.5mm jack. I also bought a 3.5mm stereo Y-adapter cable to connect the Express to whatever coaxial jack on the back of the receiver. I tried all but could not get a sound out of the system. I checked with earbuds to see if music was coming out my Iphone 4s through the express and it does so obviously it is a connection or setting issue. Everything works WIFi, but want music to stream through my Samsung system which includes TV,AV receiver and BluRay player.
Any help would be appreciated as I am new to this.

You basically have two choices: 1) Find the best physical placement of the AirPort Express to support multiple locations, or 2) Get another Express to extend the wireless range of the first one.

Print to tape problems-Get the audio but no video

I'm going from a QT file I brought into FCS and rendered, et al to tape. I'm able to get the audio track output but no video!
The QT original of my film was 720x486 NTSC 4:3 H.264 and is a .mov file format. Bringing this into FCS, FCS asks whether I want to automatically convert the thing to fit the specs offered in tape output - which, when I actually look in the dropdown for output settings, don't have a 720x486 but does have the usual 720 x 480. FCS chooses the 720 x 480. Ok, so fine. It converts the clip to 720 x 480 and playing back the rendered clip t 720 x 480 looks fine and saves to a QT file fine but when trying to get onto DV tape, the video won't print. I do know it's possible to get a print to tape of my film since a week or so ago, someone made a digibeta output of my film for me using FCS and it came out just fine (I didn't pay attention to what they were doing exactly and perhaps they did some magic that someone else here might be able to fill me in on...).
Anyway, I'm stuck - canNOT get the video track to output to tape. Any clues appreciated. I've been through the output setting module a million times, tried creating a new QT file original to work from, and have confirmed that the recorder works fine because other QT files we created worked fine - though they were 720x480. But shouldn't the conversion FCS does from 720x486 to 720x480 suffice????

H.264 isn't supported as an editing format in FCP... convert the files to a supported format. If it seems to be OK in playback in the Canvas, I'd suggest you export it as a QuickTime Conversion movie and choose DV as the format... reimport that and print to a DV deck/camera.
H.264 is a delivery format, not an editing format... resizing it probably hurt the picture too BTW... If it's really critical, then you should do the above to the source clips and re-edit, but choose ProRes as the codec, and keep it 720X486... no resize that way. Re edit in a ProRes sequence matching the frame rate and size. FCP will set it up for you when you drag to it just as it did before, but it will not resize in that case.

What format is your problem clip? Are there wave forms visible in the section without sound?
Right click on the clip in the event broswer and choose Reveal in Finder; open the clip in Quick Time to confirm that there is sound throughout at that stage of your workflow.

I had this set up done with two representatives of Neumann, and DBox. Here it is I hope this helps. 32 Channel snake (24 Inputs 8 outputs) Channels 1-8 from snake to my Octopre for Drums. From Octropre output quarter inch lines into the Apollo 2, quarter inch input. This is so that the Apollo 2 is taking the drum tracks. Snake Channel 9-12 into Apollo 1 channels 1-4 xlr. Snake Channel 13-16 into Apollo 2 Channels 1-4 xlr. Snake Channel 17 into the 737, output of 737 into Channel 5 of the Apollo 1 quarter inch.
Ok The Dbox. Sum output L&R into channel input 7&8 of Apollo 1. Apollo 1 output channels 1-8 into summing input channel 1-8 of Dbox. Apollo 1 main L&R going to main analog input L&R of Dbox. Spid out to DAW input of Dbox. I have both ADAT of both Apollos connected by optical wire. Also have port 2 of Apollo 1 into port 1 of Apollo 2 connected by Firewire. Let me know. How to get rid of wind noise on the audio track

I am sure there must be a method to get rid of wind noise on the audio track. Can someone tell me what the best filter is for this purpose as I shoot mostly outdoors and even with a sock covered mike I pick up the wind noise? I have FCS and therefore Soundtrack Pro. Are there filters in the audio filters section of FCP or must I go to STP? Thanks in advance!

I hope you mean you have a Rycote "Softie" or something similar protecting your mic . . ?
If so, you should be able to shoot in quite a high wind without any "wind noise" - but of course, even if your "sock" is correctly fitted and working well, you'll pick up the sound of the wind (different thing altogether).
If you have the right gear and are experiencing the buffeting sound you get with an unprotected mic, then I suspect there are gaps somewhere - so tape them up!
Either way, for removing unwanted sound, I know of no tool like the Linear Phase EQ filter in STP. Like everything new, it takes a little time to learn but it's very well worth it. With practice, you can almost slice out much unwanted sound like a knife.
I'm not sure why you don't want to use STP - it opened up a whole new world to me - and it's easier to learn than FCP IMHO.
