  • Cannot import audio into Captivate 3.0

We created WAV files using Adobe Audition. When we try to use
the Import > Audio feature we get the following error:
Unable to decode and import the selected WAV/MP3 File.
I am able to listen to the file through Windows media player
and Windows sound recorder without any issue, I just cannot get it
to import into my Captivate project.
any ideas on what we can do?

    Welcome to our community, danibo83
If you are seeing this when attempting to use a gallery sound
that ships with Captivate 4, then I would certainly call it a bug.
I would also strongly encourage you to report it to Adobe as same.

  • Cannot import audio into FCE.

I'm trying to put my svhs video tapes on my harddrive. I am using the Pinnacle Movie Box DV from the VCR then Firewire from Movie Box to Macbook Pro. I get the video but no sound. This also happens in Imovie, but in Quicktime pro I get both the video signal and Audio signal. I have also tried connecting the line in and the same problem occurs, but again its ok in quicktime. It doesn't seem to be the moviebox problem, its just that Final cut express/Imovie is just not getting the audio portion. This the first time I'm using FCE or Imovie. There must be something I'm not getting. I need to get this video onto my hard drive before I lose all these memories. Please help. I've tried asking this on many forums, alot of peeps, but no answers.
One more thing... What would be the best format/file type to record to. For now, all I need is to save them to the harddrive to edit at a later time. I was thinking H.264.

Ok that worked. I clicked on Easy setup
Formats: (all formats) Rate: (all rates)
Use: DV-NTSC DV Converter (Whats difference between that and DV-NTSC BASIC) ???
    Then Clicked on File
Scrolled down to New Project and then capture. WORKED thank You.
Now I'll have to figure out the program but I'm sure I can do that. One more question... What format should I save it in? H.264, AVchd etc? At the time I just want to get all the video tapes onto the harddrive, then in the future, edit them and maybe get them to dvd/and leave them as files for future formats.

  • Echo when I import movie into iDVD

The move is in Quicktime Export-Quicktime movie - Make Movie Self Contained deselected and then I import it into iDVD. The movie starts with a Voice Over and for the first ten seconds there is a decided echo - actually a parallel thread of speech, "My my name name is is..."
I can't figure out what caused this. Worse, I can't figure out a do over.
I play the Timeline and it is fine.
I continue to play the movie in iDVD and after the ten second glitch, that, too, sounds fine.
I'm desperate. Help will be appreciated.

No, the echo is there in Quicktime.
Well, I THINK I rendered everything out.... I hit Sequence -render all-needs render.
Mixed down the audio? How do I do that?
Thanks for the response, Sasha. I know how a guy in the Atlantic feels when he sees a rope snaking down to him. Thanks.

  • Cannot import CDs into iTunes, disc is corrupted and unreadable error.

Cannot import CDs into iTunes, keep getting disc is corrupted and unreadable error. Advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
I downloaded the program and ran it, got to the point where it says I have errors that need to be fixed... but it appears I have to pay for the rest of the program to actually repair these errors. Is this incorrect?
If I do have to pay, then I'd like to look for an alternative... the program is $40; of course, that's cheaper than buying a new iPod, but I want to avoid that too.

  • Trying to import dvd into iDVD,it says Unsupported File Type:Unknown format

    Hi there,
I just had a home movie transferred from vhs to dvd. Now I am trying to import it into iDVD and when i try to the message appears : Unsupported File Type :Unknown format
    Logical Volume Identifier/VIDEO_TS.
I wanted to put the home movie to music (it allowed me to import the song, not the video).
It says the kind of file is UNIX Executable File.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

to do this you would first need to convert the DVD (mpeg 2) to QT so you can import to iDvd which btw involves a quality hit. There are apps out there that can do this at a marginal level ... for example:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.products.htm

  • Cannot import clips into iMovie 08

I have a few clips that were spliced together with QTPro and now I cannot import them into iMovie08. I have checked the movies themselves and I do not see any specific info that would cause a problem.
I cannot drag and drop the clips into iMovie nor can I use the import function, as the .mov files are greyed out.
This didn't happen before I upgraded to QT Pro.

    AAC, MPEG-4
For the moment will assume you mean QT MPEG-4 here and not something like Microsoft's non-standard variation. (If not QT then please advise.) In the case that it is QT MPEG-4, did any of the source files contain extraneous tracks like an iPhoto slideshow with its "Tween" track. Such extraneous tracks are not understood by iMovie '08 and it will reject their import. If so, then use QT Pro to delete the extraneous track(s)

  • Importing Images into IDVD for Slidshow

I am at a loss as to what is the best image size, resolution size, etc. when it comes to importing images into IDVD. I usually size my prints
4 x 6 @ 300 dpi.. This looks fine in the slideshow preview. After I burn the dvd and view it, the images lose quality, etc..
    Any help would be appreciated

What you're creating in iPhoto is a movie file that will get cut off in iDVD because of the TV over scan issue. Only stills imported and assembled into a slideshow in iDVD can be scaled to avoid the over scan.
So to get what you want you'll have to import the stills into iDVD from iPhoto and create the slideshow there.
If you have Quicktime Pro you can mask the QT movie with a black mask and cause the iPhoto QT movie to be scaled to the TV safe area. The steps are below. You'll have to experiment with the final sizes to get it exact:
Masking Movies to the TV Safe Area for iDVD
The mask should be 640 x 480 pixels and the movie at approx. 580 x 386 (I arrived at this figure by making a snapshot of the TV save area of an iDVD project with Snapz). You can set this size after you’ve joined it with the mask movie with Quicktime Player Pro.
Import the black mask jpg file into iMovie and and export it as a .mov file at the same length as your movie (there may be a way to not have to create a specific length mask for each movie but I haven't found it. If the times do not match the movie file will be synced to the length of the mask movie).
Open the mask movie in QT Player Pro and then open your regular movie and make it the front window of the two. Now you'll need to run a QT Player AppleScript titled "Merge Movie 1 into Movie 2". You can get it from this Apple site: Quicktime Player Scripts.
Then run the script. You can then run the merged movie to check it out. Your movie will be located in the upper lefthand corner of the window when played.
When you open the Movie Properties window from the Window menu for the combined file you’ll see the following:
Video Track 1: the black mask
Video Track 2 : you movie file
Tween track: Have no idea what this is.
    Sound track: self explanaotry
    Black mask.
To set the size of your movie to the correct size select it in the Properties window and click on Visual Settings pane. Then enter 580 in the first field and hit enter. With the Preserve Aspect Ration box checked the other size will automatically be set.
To center the video track in the center of the mask select the Video Track 2 item and plug in a offset of about: 70 & 45. You'll probably have to play with that to fine tune the centering. Doing the math and subtracting the movie dimensions from the mask dimensions and dividing by two just didn't get it perfectly centered bit with a little eyeballing and trial and error it got there.
Now save as a new self contained movie after checking the High Quality box at the bottom right.
You can now import it into iDVD for preview and burning. One drawback is that you can't invoke the TV save area for a movie in iDVD to check it out. But you can mark it on the monitor screen while viewing a menu or slideshow and then play the movie to see how close you came. I found that the size was still a little under the TV safe area when burned and played on my TV. It may be the difference in normal CRT screens and flat screens, etc.

    Does someone knows a solution?

There is no such thing as a "parser plug-in".
That's not entirely accurate. In CS4 we use "EPS Parser.8BY" to assist in parsing of illustrator files. This plugin is normally located at:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\Plug-ins\Format\EPS Parser.8BY"
Is this missing for some reason?

  • Importing WMV into iDVD - burning these files

Hi, got a number of .wmv files back from my Windows days and would love to import these into iDVD/ burn them on DVD. Any ides how to do this? Is there a tool to convert these files into a Mac version?

Is there a tool to convert these files into a Mac version?
You need to purchase flip4mac, which allows wmv files to be played in Quicktime. Here is the link:
    http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm
Works great for playing these files in Quicktime. Once you have flip4mac installed, right-click on any wmv file, choose 'get info', and go to the 'open with' section and select WMV player instead of windows media player, and click change all so that all of your wmv files will now play with Quicktime by default.

  • Can we import audio into GarageBand?

I'd like to import an MP3 (or any supported format) into a Garageband track.
    Can it be done?

I know this thread was last posted some time ago, but since this still comes up on the google results when asking this question, I thought I'd post the solution here as well:
You CAN import audio into GarageBand on the iPad, though you need a computer to do it. Open iTunes on your Mac or Windows machine, connect the iPad. Open the iPad up, at the top of the screen should be a tab for "Apps". Go there, then scroll down. You should see a list of apps that can share information with a computer (on mine I only have three, GarageBand, Kindle, and Clean Writer). Click on GarageBand and you'll have a chance to add files to the list. Once you've selected the files from your hard drive (i've only tried mp3 files so far), click apply.
When you go into garageband on the iPad, you can create a new track in the multi-track view, tap on the "loops" icon, tap "Audio Files" and you should see all the files you copied over from your PC or Mac. You can then drag them into the timeline. Now you can play along with your own audio.
Here's a video someone else made of the process:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0X80kB4f8O4
I just wish the iPad version of garageband had some more effects. I like to practice with my iPad and my electric bass, and on the PC I can use EQ to "remove" the bass from the original song and playback with my recordings. No EQ on the iPad makes this a bit more difficult. Still a gret product, though.

  • I have upgraded to Mavericks and I now cannot import DV into FCP through the capture presets.

Since upgrading to Mavericks, I cannot import DV vision through my Sony FX-1E. I have tried various connections - DV to Firewire 400 + 800 with no success. I now have to get the vision ingested at another facility and exported to a hard drive in order to edit.
Is there a way I can get vision into FCP?

FCP (not FCPX) is legacy software, now EOL and not designed or guaranteed to work with Mavericks, some people report no problems others do, it depends on your setup. I'd suggest using iMovie to capture your footage then transfer to FCP to save using (or paying) another facility. An alternative (and my own solution) is a second boot drive with 10.8.5 and FCP 7 which still works OK.

  • Slideshow doesn't import correctly into iDVD

Hi all. I posted this in an iDVD forum and got no responses. I thought I'd post it here too, just in case anyone has an idea. I have created some excellent slideshows in iPhoto. They are put to music from iTunes. The slideshows contain multiple adjustments to timing so the photos flow along in time with the music. I get them to where the transitions are perfect in iPhoto then export the slideshow to iDVD. When I watch them in iDVD, the timing has changed so the transitions and timing between pictures doesn't correspond to the music anymore. Sometimes a photo transition is off just a second, sometimes more. But the errors accumulate through the whole slideshow, so by the end it's not right at all.
Is there any way that I get get the slideshows into iDVD without losing the perfect timing that I worked so hard to get just right in iPhoto? Thanks to anyone who has any ideas, and happy holidays!

    Stephen:
The issue is with Quicktime and its encoding of the transitions. They always don't end up the same length in time. If you need that precise timing I suggest you create the slideshow in iMovie HD (6) where you can add multiple tracks, trim them to length, etc. with great precision. Export the resulting movie to iDVD from iMovie.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
