Cannot install flashplayer!

aug 27
I cannot install adobe reader or flash player. C disk full. Trying to save to D disk. Error message says C full try saving somewhere else----but computer won't do it/ Also---cannot play DVD's in my laptop. Windows XP  2005 media ctr. Media ctr files seem to have disappeared!

First thing to do: clean up your C: drive, e.g. using CCleaner and/or moving some documents to another drive.
Flash Player installs into the Windows folder, so that cannot be anywhere else than the C: drive.
For Adobe Reader download the full installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ then specify the target installation location on the initial install panel.

I cannot install Flashplayer 10.2.152.32. I get the message that :The Active X for Flashplayer could not be registered.  The problem started when I "stupidly" accepted the upgrade on Feb 18, 2011.  It has not worked since.  I have tried every suggestion including all the older suggestions on this community forum, without success.  I am using ie8 xp2002 sp3.  I am almost going to give up.  Please help.

    Hi Lee,
"You’re probably thinking this sounds like an administrator issue. However, I’m the only user and Windows 7 is registered to me – which should make me the only administrator."
You are correct but to a point.  I thought so too, however, like you, I am "second in command"...under myself.
I was in the same situation and tried others' successful workarounds.  Nope.  Actually, an ongoing frustration for a few months to no avail...until I came across this link, http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/ this-installation-package-could-not-be-opened/40c3cf33-b155-4dc7-b21e-ca5acce105 f3.  It shows you how to access the Administrator login, literally.  It worked for me.
This is from a Microsoft support page (SJ has probably been alerted, so I don't have much time, LOL).  I did not want to hit that "final" option and reinstall Win 7.  The first time was trying enough and I was about to give in.
" I’ve scanned a Microsoft forum for iTunes download/installation problems. Most answers on the forum refer to a system32 error appearing when they attempt to install itunes64bit.exe on Vista or Windows 7."
I was opposite on this one.  What led me to think it wasn't the above was seeing this user " ` " , also known as Accent grave.  The Users first file is labeled " ` " and has a little gold lock on it.  When I scanned Task Manager, under Processes Tab, the User Name column showed " ` " attached to certain processes.  I knew it was me, but did not realize it was the Alpha me
I cannot say if the system automatically did this or I or Alpha (I'm blaming Alpha).  If there is a way to change this I do not know, and if I should.  Either way, I will do some more research and pray another personality isn't isn't lurking about
    Hope this helps you.

Running Firefox 10.0 or Safari 6.0.3 with Mac OS X 10.7.5 on 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM I cannot install the latest version of FlashPlayer 11. Previous version of FlashPlayer has been uninstalled and the computer restarted. About 50% way through installation, get Error: General installation error.
Cookies enabled, pop ups not blocked.
Tried many times on both browsers with same results.
The prolem started because I was offered an upgrade for Flashplayer and I didn't have the latest version of FlashPlayer.

Ditto. I was offered the upgrade for Flash player. Downloaded and tried to install several times. Install Failed.

  • Cannot install Flashplayer 9

For some reason FlashPlayer 9 will not install to Safari for me. I installed and it works fine in my other browsers (FireFox, IE). Please help!
    J

Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.

  • I cannot install FlashPlayer on windows 7 due to permission issues

    Hi,
Really hoping someone an help with this. It has been going on now for 6 months or more. I have a PC - Windows 7 home premium edition and version 34.0.5 of firefox. Everytime I try to install the file it tells me I do not have permission to write a particular file to the drive. I am logged on as the admin and I am the only person who has ever used this computer. • Cannot install Flashplayer 11 in Windows 7 using either Chrome or Firefox

The installer goes all the way through the installation process, says to finish and then enjoy using flashplayer, but then the program is no where to be found.

    See: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
That will show you how to disable ActiveX filtering, which screws up a lot of Flash content accessibility in IE. ActiveX controls are the Number 1 (top dog) reason I don't use IE at all for anything other than testing new webpages for compatibility. They're a "throwback" to 1993 (Windows 3.1) that, for some inconceivable reason, Microsoft REFUSES to let go of. NO other browser uses them anymore, and they haven't since Mozilla broke away from Netscape in 2001, and started using the Gecko Runtime Environment as an engine.

  • Cannot install flashplayer, windows explorer

I am having trouble downloading flashplayer. It won't get past the initialisation stage.
I am trying to download it in Windows Explorer, Version 7, 32 bit. I enabled script as the instructions have said, and again in Trusted Sites, however, it still is not allowing me to download.

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking the following link and selecting "Save target as".
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Save it to yoru downloads folder or the desktop (your choice, but make sure it's somewhere you can find it).
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, open the downloaded installer and run it.
IF it doesn't work, come back here and follow these instructions: Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer
and: ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer

  • Cannot install Flashplayer 10 with Mozilla firefox 3.6.13 using Vista

I can down flash player but when I try to install I receive a message that says "installer will automatically continue when these conflicting applications are closed". It then lists Mozilla firefox. What is going on here. I've tried numerous times but each time it says I must close firefox.
I am using Vista Home 32 bit and Firefox 3.6.13 32 bit.

Hi, I would just use one browser to do this. Go to the site from the link I gave you. You will see this: This is the Installer for IE.
Just click once on "Download EXE Installer" on that site. It will open and you will see "Run", "Save". Just click on SAVE. It will ask you where, choose Desktop so you can easily find it. Then do the same with the Firefox link, below.
    Windows
    Internet Explorer
    All supported languages
    Download EXE Installer
    Windows
    Plugin-based browsers
    All supported languages
    Download EXE Installer
Be sure to use the Administrator Account when Uninstalling & Installing.
Before you Install, you want to be sure that when you ran the Uninstaller, you achieved a clean Uninstall. Go here and as soon as the site opens you will see the version of Flash Player if it wasn't Uninstalled completely. Do this with both browsers and let me know. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/   If any version of Flash Player is shown, let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot get Flashplayer to install! HELP!

Running Windows XP, IE8, and Avast anti-virus. I got a message to install Flashplayer update, (typical) and when doing so got a message saying "User does not have sufficient priveleges to install Flashplayer"  Sorry for reposting this issue, but I left my OS and browser info out of last post.
I have double and triple checked that I am signed into Windows as the administrator..Makes no sense to me. I have been fighting this for two days. I see I had a lot of lookers on the last post, but no takers! LOL! Thanks in advance...

I suggest that you download the offline installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header
If you still experience permission problems, right-click on the downloaded installer and select Run as Administrator.
