Cannot move windows to other Screen, e17

Hi guys,
I am using the ATI Catalyst drivers and I am unable to move windows from one screen to the other. The cursor is blurred when going to the other side, but it is still visible with the original screen with the window I am trying to move. I am using enlightenment and the newest catalyst drivers. Here is my xorg.conf file

I have the same problem. After Mountain Lion was installed, my longstanding display configuration (MacBook Air coupled with large Dell monitor) will no longer allow app windows to be moved from the Air screen to the large display when the large display is configured on top of the Air. Only the side-by-side configuration works. Mouse can move above the Air menu bar, but not any app windows. Mirroring works as usual; this is the only problem. I've tried re-setting the display preferences, and I've also tried pairing with another (non-Apple) monitor. Same problem. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix on the way?

Unfortunately there isn't. A Red X is usually an indicator that the HDD has failed, if you are unable to restore the device using iTunes and also not able to reformat using windows prior to restoring then a hardware repair is needed. If your iPod is out of warranty then the pricing you pay is to have the iPod replaced not repaired. You're looking at 129.00 - 179.00 plus shipping depending on the gen.

Then I remembered the most important PC-rule I learnt from my daughter's boyfriend: if you have some problem, restart! I did so and the sound was there again, probably it disappeared during the safe start procedure. "If anything can go wrong, it will." Ironically, I have been working as professor at a technical university, but in fiber optics, not with computers...
I any case, it is good now, so the problem is solved. Thanks again!

Move Window from One Screen to the Other

With multi-monitor setup, is there a shortcut key to move a window from one screen to another? This is about the only thing I miss from my old days of using a PC.

no, there isn't and I don't believe you can possibly make one. I don't know how this works in windows but os x would need to know where exactly to put a window on the other screen. since screens often have different sizes that would be impossible. besides, with extended desktop there is no actual separation between the screens and a window can be partly on one screen and partly on the other.
I'm afraid you are just going to have to drag.
This is about the only thing I miss from my old days of using a PC.

Just installed OS 8.3, it opened and locked into iTunes connection logo as opening screen. I cannot get to any other screen. Hard close down has not solved it and I cannot get to usual homescreen to access the reset options. Ideas?

Earlier today my iPad which was using OS 8.2) kept shutting down every few minutes. I thought it might be some new incompatibility connected with the recent release of OS 8.3,. So, I updated to OS 8.3. It took many attempts and a very long time - over an hour - because the iPad kept shutting down mid-process. Supposedly 8.3 is now installed, but all I get is the Apple logo followed by a screen showing a connection, cursor arrow pointing up-screen to a box reading "iTunes". I cannot get out of that screen to any other screen and can only close by hard shut down, fully powering off (home button + power button). When I restart the device it shows first the Apple logo for a few seconds, then the iTunes connection logo. Nothing else. This has been going on for about three hours now. I am not an iTunes user so I am not sure what to think or what to expect.. Is it maybe something to do with iTunes being updated in the background? 3 hours seems a long time for an update whatever it is. Is anyone else encountering this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions, bearing in mind that I cannot get to the usual opening home screen, so can't get to settings or anything to do a reset. I hope someone can help me with this problem. If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, read this.

My Apple TV is locked on a screen with iTune icon and USB cable and is not let me move to any other screen

I bought Apple TV 3rd generation a couple days ago. It was no problem in the first day.
I freshly installed iTunes on my computer and tried to learn about Home Share. Next day,it was locked this screen and I cannot move any other screen. The LED light on the front is glitting in fast. I've tried,
1. Holding 'Menu' and 'down' butten for reset.
2. Disconnecting power cable
3. Turning off the router
After that if I reconnect to TV, it shows same.
Please help me...

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

[SOLVED] gnome: how to move window to other monitor with hotkey?

now if I understand right gnome does not support a hotkey or option to move a window to another monitor by default (eg. after having been installed with
pacman -S gnome
so I think the solution is to use an alternate window manager (I think the default is metacity) so my question is which window manager should I use that has this feature (criteria are relatively lightweight, stable and easily set up)? also can anyone point me to instructions on how to install a non-standard window manager with a desktop environment?

I don't use gnome, but if you extend the desktop, don't you just have to move the window out of the view of the one screen to the other?
I'm using i3, a tiling window manager. it's very lightweight and easy to setup. just install the whole group "i3" together with the package "dmenu", edit ~/.xinitrc to run "exec i3" and start it using the startx command
you can use the arander to configure how the screens are aranged.
in i3 you can move a whole "desktop" to another screen, or just move programms to other "desktops", just read the manual on their website

How to move windows from disconnected screen to active desktop?

I have a projector connected over the MiniDisplay-port on my Mac Mini, and a large Samsung screen connected over the Mini-DVI-port.
Whenever I turn off the projector, I can still see from the Display menu that the proejctor is still connected. How can I make OS X recognize that the display is in fact off?
The problem occurs when I open an application that was open on the projection scren (like iTunes’ movie plauyer window, or QuickTime): because it will reopen on the screen that is now turned off.
The only work-around I have found is to enable Spaces, and move the window over using spaces. But this is cumbersome and annoying.
Does anyone have a better solution? Thanks in advance,

I have already tried that, and the screen still appears as connected. I guess that is correct, as the cable still is connected. But that doesn’t really help when the monitor is off.

After updating to the new iOS on my ipad 3 I find that I can no longer move the undocked keyboard across the screen to my desired location as I used to. Does anyone else have the same issue?

Here's the writeup from the iOS 6 Manual for iPad about moving and splitting the keyboard:
Keyboard layouts
On iPad, you can type with a split keyboard that’s at the bottom of the screen, or undocked and in the middle of the screen.
Adjust the keyboard: Touch and hold , then:
Use a split keyboard: Slide your finger to Split, then release.
Move the keyboard to the middle of the screen: Slide your finger to Undock, then release.
Return to a full keyboard: Slide your finger to Dock and Merge, then release.
Return a full keyboard to the bottom of the screen: Slide your finger to Dock, then release. Turn Split Keyboard on or off: Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Split Keyboard.

Cannot move Google Street View screen

Firefox 3.6.24 will not allow me to move around in Google Street View. I cannot pan around from a fixed position as before. It works on my iPad2

Streetview probably works for most people.
Try using Internet Explorer IE does it work ?
If it works in IE but not Firefox it could be a Firefox or FlashPlayer issue.

All it is doing is opening a map in streetview, but at least we all know we are testing the same page.

I can't move iTunes on my screen or search in store

Hi all - I would appreciate some help. For some reason, I cannot move iTunes on my screen. I can change the size. There is also no menu where I can see what is playing unless I am in full screen mode. Also - no red, green, yellow buttons to close, minimize, etc whether I'm in full screen mode or not. The only way to close it is to go the menu bar at the very top of my desktop and click on quit iTunes. Can someone help me or is this they way the new update is? Thanks

I had this problem as well and found that if I minimized the window, the menu would reappear. If you click "Window" in the bar at the top of the screen and then "Minimize" (or press command + M), it will reset the window, so to say.

I cannot move, resize, minimize, or close the browser window despite everything inside the window still working.

I don't know what details are needed so I'll just rattle off anything that I can think of.
I am running an Asus laptop with windows 7. I have never had an issue with firefox in the past (beyond the usual freezing and some obvious issues with pop up ads that are par for the course with firefox since adblocker never does what it says.... not really. Lets be honest.) I am using Avast for my virus protection and it is also up to date.
My issue started about an hour ago when firefox stopped responding. The video I had playing kept going but I could not interact with anything. Assuming the program froze for the billionth time that week I rebooted it. This has always solved freezing issues in the past. Now, however, firefox is doing something new.
I can access the menus and almost everything on the window itself except for the minimize/maximize/close buttons, I cannot move the window at all, and I cannot manually resize it. I have also noticed that although videos will play, I can only click on their buttons if there is another smaller window overtop of firefox. The video controls will only appear that way and when I click them firefox naturally comes to the front and the video responds with the button I used but the buttons are gone again and I cannot resume playing without the smaller window back in front to make the buttons show again.
It's as if half of firefox is frozen while the other half is still running somehow.
I have no themes that could be causing this. Literally none. I only use firefox for the things that can no longer be opened in Opera so I have no need for any theme beyond default. The only addons I installed on purpose were adblockers (lord knows why. they don't DO anything.) though several other random things seem to have been installed over time to aid in one thing or another. Various plugins and players and versions of java, that sort of thing. But I have everything (and i mean EVERYTHING) in the addon menu disabled.
I have tried booting it up in safe mode (the program, not windows) and the problem is still there except now it won't show the menu bar at all unless I press the alt key first and even then it wont let me actually click on anything in the menu bar. When I try the whole bar vanishes. I had to close firefox with the task manager.
Rebooting will fix the issue for about 15 seconds before it all comes back.
Any attempts at updating have failed as it says I am already up to date on everything so I don't know what its issue is.
It's not an urgent issue right now as most of what i need to do can be done on the half screen window I am using, but some of my sites have buttons that literally vanish in anything but full screen and I imagine that this will be a much greater annoyance within a few days.

After following all the instructions given, I poked around safe websites as suggested. I am not sure why this step was needed, as websites functioned rather normally before I came here but I did it anyways and found that the websites still work the same as they did. I can still do everything I used to be able to do. I see no change in the function of the websites.
However, I still cannot resize, close, or move the browser window. I don't know if Netflix is a safe site or not (too many conflicting opinions on that one from the masses) so I don't know if the issue with the vanishing buttons is still there, but all the issues I had with the browser window itself is still there.
Even in safe mode the browsers three window control buttons on the top right refuse to let me use them and the window itself will refuse to be moved around.

Cannot move/drag windows

I don't know what happened but it seems all my windows are locked up. I cannot move any window around by dragging. I can only minimize or maximise the window, nothing else. this is crazy and is driving me nuts. i'm running 10.9.3 on mid 2010 mbp.
