Cannot open iPhoto after downloading yosemite
After downloading Yosemite, I could not open iPhoto.
OSX Yosemite 10.10
1. Click on iPhoto icon
2. pop-up opens stating "To open your library with this version of iPhoto, it first needs to be prepared". I click "Learn more".
3. Library Upgrader opens and I click on Download.
4. I double click on the box icon in the new window.
5. "This tool prepares libraries from iPhoto 7 or earlier so they can be upgraded with the current version of iPhoto" opens in a new box. I click "continue" and agree with the agreement.
6. Click "install" in a new window and "install" again.
7. "The installation was completed successfully" appears.
8. I click on iPhoto icon and the process starts from the beginning.
I have tried this app. four times.
Locate your iPhoto library and then use the iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library - Apple Support link for instructions and then test.
If you still have troubles reset both the SMC and PRAM 2-3 times back to back. You can find instructions for this by clicking iMac SMC and PRAM reset
Post back with the results after rebuilding your library and doing the resets if you need to.

Can't open iPhoto after downloading yosemite app
I have an IMac, and have recently downloaded the Yosemite app. Was not able to open iPhoto so I downloaded the iPhoto app. Now the slash on the iPhoto icon on the dock is gone, but when I try to open iPhoto I am directed to download the iPhoto app again, in an endless loop. Is anyone out there experiencing the same phenomena? How do get to my photos?
What version of iPhoto do you have?

I cannot open iPhoto after latest apple upgrade. Getting message latest iPhoto version is not available in the US.Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -

Cannot open iPhoto after creating 2 libraries, one in iCloud drive
I am running into errors and cannot open iPhoto anymore. The first message is "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it. iPhoto can try to repair the permissions." I choose repair, and then this second message occurs, "The iPhoto Library is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have permission to make changes to it."
This began after I exported the library on my Mac Book Pro to iCloud Drive, and currently have 2 libraries that I cannot access. I attempted to repair disk from Disk Utilities, but it has not fixed the issue. What can I do next?Try the following on the one on your hard drive:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database. -
Cannot open iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite
Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am unable to open iPhoto. When I click on it a message appears saying 'this version of iPhoto is incompatible with Yosemite', and directs me to the App store to upgrade. I then get message saying that 'the product you are looking for is not available in the UK app store'. I live in Singapore but prefer to use the UK App store. Is it as simple as needing to change to a different country, if so which one? Or is there maybe a simpler way round this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try Terence's instructions here Is Iphoto gone ? i want it back!

Cannot open iPhoto after upgrading to SSD.
1. I have verified disk permission.
2. I have deleted and reinstalled iPhoto.
3. I can see the library which copied over doing a disk migration, all 53 GB of it.
4. I downloaded iPhoto Library Manager which can see all the images and albums but cannot rebuild library.
5. When I try to open iPhoto or the library I get this message:

PLEASE HELP I REALLY LIKED IPHOTO... ALSO I AM NOT SURE HOW TO GRAB ALL MY PHOTOS OUT OF THE LIBRARY NOW...It looks like you were having a problem with your Recovery Partition.
Recovery comes in two modes: Internet recovery and regular recovery mode. Both are behaving differently:
Internet recovery will reinstall the system that came with your Mac and regular recovery the current system you last installed: OS X: About OS X Recovery
Which version of OS X is installed by OS X Recovery?
If you use the Recovery System stored on your startup drive to reinstall OS X, it installs the most recent version of OS X previously installed on this computer.
If you use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X, it installs the version of OS X that originally came with your computer. After installation is finished, use the Mac App Store to install related updates or later versions of OS X that you have previously purchased.
Your recovery system is trying to reinstall Lion.
You could try two things: Try, if Software Update will fix this. You have not installed the latest Yosemite update; your error log is showing "Mac OS X 10.10.1 (14B25)". Perhaps recovery will work better, if you start from the current, last release.
if you are still having the problem after the system update, ask in the Yosemite forum how to fix the Recovery Partition, or use a quick-and-dirty shortcut for the problem at hand and patch the system using the Terminal, if you are comfortable with the Terminal and Try the fix posted by

Re: iPhoto doesn't work
This article on Stack Exchange worked for me. In the Terminal app:
sudo ln -s /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/NyxAudioAnalysis.framework/ /Library/Frameworks/
And you should be back in business. I think Apple screwed up with their latest iPhoto update.
The Terminal command above will work, if the missing library is installed but not linked correctly. It pits a symbolic like to the missing NyxAudioAnalysis.framework into the Library Frameworks folder.
But be very careful when typing anything into the Terminal. Check any command you type carefully, because errors can be dangerous. -
Could not open iPhoto after installing Yosemite.
Could not open iPhoto from dock or launch pad after installing Yosemite. Went into the iPhoto application in applications and clicked on MAC OS and then clicked on iPhoto. iPhoto then opened but when I closed the exec window iPhoto closed.
Could not open iPhoto as a guest user.
Was able to open iPhoto in my account when I went to the application list, right clicked on the iPhoto application then chose Show Package Contents, then clicked on Contents and then clicked on MAC OS which then opened iPhoto.
This is the only way I have been able to open it.
