Cannot open iTunes since downloading os5
ever since i downloaded the new os5 to my 2 1 st generation ipads i have been unable to open itunes, the app store as well as other random web sites like msnbc and ebay...ant ideas?
Try closing all apps completely and then do a reset and see if that helps. To close all apps : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
To reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Cannot open itunes since update.
Since update, I cannot open itunes. Message says, "itunes Library Extras.itdb file is locked, on a locked disck, or you do not have write permission on this disc." What to do??
Below where you see the Read and Write permissions on that folder there is a little triangle next to the word Details. Scroll down a bit and you'll see a tab to click to Apply to Enclosed Items. If it says you have read and write on the main folder, click the Apply button to make sure that all folders inside the main folder also have both Read and Write permission.

Cannot open itunes after download
I just bought my nano ipod. i downloaded everything as instructed;however, when i clicked on the itunes icon to open it--the agreement consent form pops up and disappears before i can click anything! also, the quicktime player pops up and then dissappears as well. on windows task manager, when i open either files they register as running and then dissappear as the application does. my firewall is set to allow itunes, and i have redownloaded both programs only for them to dissappear again. what should i do? thank you.
hi krizia!
you've got "the flash". i'm afraid that this one is almost certainly being caused by malware on your PC. see:
b noir, "my iTunes won't start!!!" #8, 05:22pm Nov 8, 2005 CDT
I had a report this morning of someone with Windows XP successfully using Dave's manual removal technique to clear an infection. see:

I downloaded the latest version of iTunes on my PC. Now I cannot open iTunes. I receive the following error message: "The procedure entry point AVCFAssetCreateWithByteStreamAndOptions could not be located in the dynamic link library AVfoundationCF.dll" After pressing the "OK" button I receive a second error message: 'iTunes not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 127)". I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled to no avail. I've also eliminated the temp files (per suggestions on the trouble-shooting page) and no luck. I also tried system restore and that did not fix the problem. Any thougths on a repair?
Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (Although the procedure is for Vista and 7 and you've got XP, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Still unable to download itunes to my pc. Tried with IE, Mozilla and Google Chrome. Keep getting an error message :"Windows cannot open itunes.exe the file is corrupt contact support."previous itunes files were wipped out by "disk cleaner." Any help??
Please!
Thanks! If anyone is reading this still looking for what caused the issue and how to fix it here is what I discovered.
The antivirus program our company uses, Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, was causing some of the PDF files not to open. After troubleshooting the different modules and settings the culprit was..
Scan SSL in Privacy Control Settings. Turning it OFF solved the problem and all the PDF files that previously would not open now open just fine. This issue has been sent to Bitdefender for them to review. If you use a different antivirus program and are having this issue try locating the Scan SSL setting and see if turning it off solves the problem. -

My iTunes operating files were somehow corrupted on my pc. Is there a way to download iTunes again while preserving my playlists?
I cannot open iTunes at all right now.
My playlists are intact on my iPod.
ThanksHi, InsaneCharlie.
Thanks for the question. I see you have uninstalled iTunes and want this program back. Start with completely uninstalling iTunes if present and all of it's components in the order specified in the article below. Once this is done, download and install iTunes. If none of your data was modified in the iTunes media folder, then your data should be present upon installation.

If you receive any errors when uninstalling any components of iTunes, try the steps in the article below for each component that gives you an error.
