Cannot play downloaded music!!!

Hi all,
Have recently purchased new music for a new Ipod, when I double click the song in Itunes to play it is asking me to authorise the IPod. Having entered my username and password it states that it has been correctly authorised however i then get a message saying 'could not complete music store request.An unknown error occures (-208).Error in Music Store. Please try again later.'
Is this due to the high volume of users because its Xmas Day?

Seems like the music never completly downloaded. Try redownloading on computer and sync.

I have safari, I cannot play online music on it, from www.smashitsusa.com and many other music sites. I do have real player, WMP, Quicktime installed. Same is the problem with Firefox too. What plugin do I need to download or what do I need to do. Thanks in advance.

How to view/hear pretty much everything:
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

Why when playing downloaded music on apple tv through my distributed audio, it sometimes skips like a scratched record or just stops (in pause mode and won't play again) and yet i have full bars on the wireless in home service from the mac to the appletv?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

5310 xpress wont play downloaded music

just bought a new 5310 and downloaded music from Nokia Musicstore. These songs sound ok in PC and transfer to 5310 (via USB)seemd to be ok. I can now see songs in 5310, but cannot play them in it. Looking closely to the song name in phone, I can see small red cross below each song symbol. songs are in wma in PC. Have now downloaded them again twice - nom help. My OS is Vista (in brand new Amilo). Older songs from PC can be played and are ok. Does anyone know what could help?

If the 5310 could play a wma, then its most provably the DRM is not transfered to the phone since it is a paid music. Check out how to transfer DRM of a song from Vista to another device like phone.

Cant play downloaded music on my mini

Help !!!!
I downloaded 3 songs on my mini, I also loaded some songs from a cd via my computer. When I try to play downloaded songs I select song and hit play. Then my ipod switches to a song from the cd music and plays that instead of requested song.

buzz, you will now need to move this new information to the "importing & burning" forum of the iTunes for Windows forum, (I assume you're using Windows since you didn't post an OS), including the complete error message & number, with a specific explanation of what has been happening. I'll admit these types of problems are not my "thing" either, but b noir frequents that forum & seems to be one of our experts on these issues. When you post your new topic, I would post it as a 1406 error & bring it to b's attention, stating that I sent you. Wish I could have been of more help!

Cannot play downloaded iTunes HD movies

Hello,
I initially had an issue downloading movies on my PC from iTunes in HD. I seemed to have taken care of that bug, now I cannot play any of my downloaded HD movies and wanted to know how to fix this. I never had a problem before but this seems to be an intermittent issue. Sometimes it works but most of the time it does not.
I do get a pop up window saying that my machine cannot play HD movies and that I should download in SD instead....this does not make any sense seeing that I was able to do this prior to a couple of the last iTunes software updates.
Can anyone help?

I restored my nVidia 8800GT graphics card and was able to watch the HD content purchased from iTunes, again. So, it should be able to do the same.
If your plan is to install both video cards on your system, there might be a problem. If iTunes senses that there is a video card that implements the HD encryption standard, it will restrict HD output to that video card.

Cannot log into itunes store cannot play purch. music. new computer

If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I haven't found a solution on this disscussion board.
I get the "iTunes cannot connect to the iTunes store the host is down. Make sure your network connection is active and try again". It is active. My comuter is a few weeks old. It worked before I upgraded to iTunes 7.1.1. Now I cannot even authorize my new computer to play the music I bought that is on my external hard drive. Any ideas? I already tried the troubleshooting apple suggests. I also tried to install a very old version of itunes but it wouldn't run.

if the ts steps from the itunes support was no help write back and tell them what you have done so far to solve the problem. give them as much infos as possible. they will help

Error Message (-208) -- Cannot play purchased music

After upgrading to itunes 6.0 I can no longer play my purchased music. The itunes store is telling me I am not authorized to play the song files, so I log into my account and it says authorization successful. After I click ok I receive the error message:
"We could not complete you Music Store request. An unknown error occurred (-208)."
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, and have even tried downgrading to itunes 5.0. Itunes 5.0 wouldn't play the songs because it said I needed itunes 6.0 in order to play my music, and that I would have to upgrade.
I have also tried deauthorizing my computer and then playing the song again but I still receive the same error message.

After having checked my other computer for what files had been altered or created this last day (during thich i had successfully authorized it for playback in preview and for purchased music) i found the file "SC Info.sidb" under "X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info". This appears to hold your authorization keys or some other magic stuff. By deleting this files parent folder, iTunes was forced into asking me to authorize this computer again for playback, with the difference this time that there were some other options on the authorization dialog, just like there should be when for the first time authorizing a computer to play protected iTunes content. When I then entered my information as always and was expecting to see the same -208 error, i was instead greeted with sweet opera that I had been longing to listen to.
A minute or so later, I found this article on the net:

It describes the same problem, but for users of macs, but the same principle applies to windows machines. The only thing fifferent is the paths to the key database. "I:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info"
Try the same procedure and hopefully your iTunes copy should work again. Just remember to make sure all iTunes related processes are shut down first before trying this. It might not matter, but that is what I did.

Cannot play/transfer music on iPhone through iTunes (computer is authorized

I recently has to reformat my hard drive on my MacBook and wasn't able to back up my phone (3GS - 3.1.3) before then.
I initially installed Tiger (10.4.11) and my phone wouldn't even register on iTunes. I just upgraded to Snow (10.6.2) and now my iPhone is read, but I cannot access my music nor can I manually transfer songs onto it. When I hit sync, nothing will get updated. I tried the automatic sync option and that didn't work as well. I tried to authorize my laptop and it said "This laptop is already authorized." I already updated everything and restarted - still nothing.
I included a screen shot of my non-accessible iphone folder below in case that helps.

That's normal (that the music is grayed out). Click the EYEfone icon, then the Summary tab (along the top) - if you want to manually manage music, check the box. Else, click the Music tab (along the top, not in the list on the left), then select the box to sync music, and select playlists or All music, then click Sync.

Check your location is set correctly, try de/re authorising your computer.

My ITunes Library is on an external drive. I later installed the newest version of ITunes 12.1.0.5 and now I cannot play the music on my external dive. What to do?

Help!!! error -45054 when trying to play/download music in iTunes

Help! I've recently bought my macbook pro. I can see my the music i have previously bought on my iPhone in iTunes but cloud symbol next to most music. When I try to play any of these or download new songs I get error message -45054. I have checked and have shared folder in Users which I understand is important for iTunes. I am running OSX 10.9.4. Driving me nuts, could be persuaded to take the whole **** thing back if I can't get this sorted - expected better given the outlay cost!!

This is one of the rare occasions when you should run Repair Permissions (not Repair Disk) in Disk Utility. Ignore the many false warnings that it produces. If there's no change, follow the instructions in this support article.

Cannot play any music bought from iTunes

I can no longer play any of the music I bought from iTunes, although anything else is fine. I get this message --
The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.
I have changed the permissions on every single music file permissions to everybody read and write, so what is the problem?
