  • Cannot view cr2 files in Bridge cs4 & Windows 7

    I can not convert the cr2 files in cs4      nor read them with new Windows 7      Home Edition 64 bit computer
    Upon      downloading from my camera I am unable to view the images.
    After      downloading the file, when clicking on the file in Bridge to bring it into      Photoshop I get the following message” Could not complete your request      because it is not the right kind of document”
    I am      able to view the images on the media card from the camera.
    I have      contacted Canon and they suggest that it’s a software issue and that I      should  go to the Adobe website and      look for Windows 7 64 updater.
    I was      unable to find anything with this reference but I updated to Bridge 5.7.
    After      trying to see the images after the update I was still unable to view the      images so I logged onto the Adobe Support site and was told that they no      longer support cs4.
    Any suggestions ?

    Keep in mind that if your camera is newer than the last released version of Camera Raw (5.7) for Photoshop CS4, Adobe does provide a free solution for compatibility, as Curt has mentioned, through the use of the free DNG Converter application.
    The way that works is this:
    1.  You get your raw images from your new camera into a folder on your computer.
    2.  You run the latest DNG Converter application and choose the folder.
    3.  It converts the entire folder full of images to .DNG files.
    4.  You open a DNG file as you would an older raw file, with your old version of Photoshop.
    While the DNG Converter provides you a way to continue to use your older Photoshop software with a new camera, keep in mind that there are significant improvements in the raw converter in the latest version of Photoshop that may allow you to make better images out of your raw files if you do choose to upgrade Photoshop.

  • Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC, administrator issue?

    Can't preview RAW files in Bridge CC.
    When i try to upate Bridge, it says:
    Bridge is unable to check for updates, cause it can't connect to the internet or user is logged in as a non-administrative user.
    So then i have to log in as a administrative user to the Bridge...and update..
    Can't it be done easier???
    I must also say i have also Bridge CS6 installed on pc and there everything is working fine.
    Thx.

    1/ Adobe Bridge should be possible to open without administrator issue.
    By default it does, something seems wrong with your install
    2/the images DO appear first for 2 or 3 seconds , then it turns to a RAW file icon.
    Again indicating a wrong install, you see the embedded jpeg previews briefly but then the Raw thumbs should be build. When you see the generic Raw icon this means you don't have the correct version of the ACR plug in installed to match your camera or no converter at all.
    Try this page:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
    3/i only succeed in openening Bridge descently , so with ableing to see RAW files , WHEN i go to c:/progamfiles/Adobe/AdobeBridhecc/Bridge.exe
    When, If i copy the exe file for opening Bridge CC and i put it on the Desktop, it DOES NOT Preview the RAW files.
    Here you have lost me. As a Mac user I'm afraid I don't know nor understand anything about .exe, I download the .dmg file for an application which then automatically opens and I just click on the install icon, provide admin password and serial number once and then start using it without bothering about install ever again

  • I can't preview RAW files in Bridge CS5 or open them in Camera Raw

    I've been using Photoshop CS5, Bridge and Camera Raw 6.7 with no problems whatsoever.  I recently upgraded the OS on my MacBook Pro to 10.8.5 and can no longer preview RAW files in Bridge, or open them in Camera Raw.
    I've downloaded the Adobe DNG converter, but would much prefer to using my existing workflow if possible.
    Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance for any help!

    Adobe doesn't support CS5, an when I spoke to Apple, I was told that this is a known issue with OS 10.8.5 and that they're working on a patch.  In the meantime I'm using Adobe's DNG as a workaround.
    Have not heard before of this Known Issue, also find it hard to believe being true. But can't test my self because I only have CS6 and CC installed and always use Photodownloader to convert to DNG upon import. I have just installed the 10.8.5 update and checked in Bridge CC pointing to an attached card reader. no problem in showing the CR2 thumbs, it works as always and as expected.
    To my knowledge Bridge CS5 is already 64 bits and I can't think of any valid reason why an OS update would cause this problem so suddenly (but I'm not a technician I have to confess…)
    However, I would first try a check and repair permissions from Apple Disk Utility and also try Cocktail (good and cheap 3th party maintenance application for Mac) to clear caches and check permissions.
    Also try a new user account just for testing to rule out your current account as the culprit.

  • I can't  preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. Help!

    Hi, I want to know why can't I preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. It's really frustrating as an increasing number of Illustrator files are saved in this format and I need to check through a gazillion of them. Help!

    Thanks for the promt reply Omke!
    That was the reason why the thumbnail icons weren't showing up in Bridge. Saving to include XMP data somehow brings in the previews in Bridge.
    I don't really need SVG files for print jobs (prefer .eps or .ai), however this appears to be the preferred file format at the picture library where I bought the vector images.
    Darn, I was hoping that was not the solution, as in order to view the images in Bridge, I will first have to open and  re-save them.
    Seems painful but thanks all the same. Would there be a way in Bridge to batch open and re-save files in another format, say from .svg to .ai ?

  • Cannot play MP3 files in Dreamweaver CS4

    Hi
    Apogogies if this has been asked before.
    I have an embedded MP3 file on one of my DWCS4 pages but when I try to play it from the Properties Inspector I get the message "Unable to find the plugin that handles this media type".
    The sound file plays OK in Firefox and IE but I would like to be able to test it in DW. I have the currrent version of Apple QuickTime Pro installed.
    I am using both Windows XP and Vista with the same problem.
    Is there a plug I can download for DW only in order to play these files without resorting to converting the MP3 to another format.
    Any help would be much appreicated.
    Thanks
    George

    Yes but I did exactly what I accused you of doing so it was really bad!
    Software troubles can drive you a bit crazy. Sorry again.

    Thank you for the apology, but as we have all (probably), misread and
    therefore wrongly replied to posts, it is not really necessary.

  • Read other posts - still cannot see .htaccess files in DW CS4

    Hi - I don't know if it's me or what, but I've read other posts and still cannot figure out why I cannot see .htaccess files through DW CS4.  It says to go to VIEW but I do not have or see this option.
    Here are some screenshots:
    and of course the folder where you cannot see the .htaccess file

    Mac OS 10.4 and earlier (and *nix systems in general) treat file names with a period in front as telling the file system that that particular file is supposed to be hidden. And thus it won't show up under the normal file system views. But the file is still there. To see it, open up Terminal and type:
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
    Relaunch Finder and now you should be able to see every invisble file on your machine. To return to default, go back to Terminal and type:
    defaults write com.apple.Finder AppleShowAllFiles NO
    and relaunch Finder and everything should be back to normal.
    Or you can use one of the many utility apps out there that allow you to make these kinds of changes. (Cocktail comes to mind - http://www.maintain.se/cocktail).
    Of course you can also build a workflow such as yours as well...  :-)

  • Cannot preview PDF files in MS Word

    After downloading Adobe XI I cannot preview PDF files from MS Word file list

    Word cannot and will not open or preview PDFs because a PDF IS NOT a word document or text document.
    If you try File>Open and choose a PDF you will see a page full of Unicode which makes up the PDF. That I guarantee will be completely useless to you.
    PDFs open in Reader and Acrobat (or Foxit - but that's not an Adobe product)

  • Am useing a PC. Have Photoshop CS5, suddenly cannot move Raw files from bridge (or anywhere else) into photoshop. Jpeg move into photoshop ok, did get error message 1 what do I do to correct this                om bridge (or anywhere else for that matter)

    Useing a PC
    Have Photoshop CS5
    Suddenly cannot move Raw Files from Bridge (or anywhere else) into photoshop.
    I Can move Jpegs into ps the only issue is with Raw files
    I did get error1 message but as do not know what that means its no help
    any suggestions?

    Sorry for the late reply. My email firewall has become a little over zealous & sent a lot of my emails straight to my junk email folder, so I have only just now discovered your reply in my junk mail folder.
    The only "don't open files exceeding xxx megabytes" instruction I can find in my Prefs, is in the Bridge Prefs for Thumbnails, & mine is set at 1000mb. The biggest files I handle are bigger than 200mb so I should be able to open a few, not just one.
    However, this doesn't explain why I can open a psd format file of 180mb, close it, but then can't open a RAW format file of only 26mb immediately after.
    I can open the RAW file only if I restart my computer - very annoying!
    However, thanks for the advice about the video card & memory.
    So, I'm still stuck as to what the issue is.

    ORF
    6.7, 7.1
    That camera was supported for the first time in ACR 6.7 which requires CS5 to run.
    Your options are to upgrade to Photoshop CS6, CC or CC2014, or to look for, download, install, launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG converter 8.6 on each batch of raw ORF files in order to convert them to raw DNGs that you can then open in your CS4 installation.
    Note that you will be leaving a lot of image quality on the table if you go that last route as significant improvements have been made to ACR in the latest versions.
    Just a clarification in general, not necessarily referencing this or any other post:

  • Cannot sort files in bridge cs4

    Hi
    As you know it, since Windows XP xp2, the explorer sorts the files this way :
    1, 002, 03, 000004...
    For getting back the "right" alphabetical way, you can change the registry. So did I.
    Now in the explorer, I get the files sorted like this :
    000004, 002, 03, 1
    Well
    but in adobe bridge CS4, nothing changes. the files are sorted : 1, 002, 03, 000004...
    Is there a way to have the files sorted like in explorer ?
    thanks for your replies
    (Sorry for my bad english)

    Yes it can be done but it's very messy!
    The following script should do the job BUT it does require you select Manual sort and move any document first! This makes sure that a hidden file .BridgeSort is created in the folder. This file is re-created into the correct order then a new window is opened and the old window closed. This is because Bridge only reads this file when it opens.
    Using ExtendScript Toolkit copy and paste the code into a new window, start Bridge - Edit - Preferences - Startup Scripts, click the "Reveal" button. This will open the folder that the script should be placed. Once that has been done close and restart Bridge and accept the new script. You will now have a new menu item "AlphaSort"
    #target bridge
    if( BridgeTalk.appName == "bridge" ) {
    var newMenuSort = new MenuElement( "menu", "Alpha Sort", "after Help", "mySortData" );
    var newSortCommand = new MenuElement( "command", "Alpha Sort", "at the end of mySortData" , "xxxx" );
    newSortCommand.onSelect = function () {
       alphaSort();
    function alphaSort(){
    var file = new File(app.document.presentationPath +"/.BridgeSort");
    if(!file.exists){
        alert("Please select manual sort and move one document before running this script!");
        return;
    file.hidden=false;
    file.open('r');
    var data = file.read();
    file.close();
    data = data.split('\n');
    var Items=[];
    for (var a in data){
        if(data[a].match(/item/g)) Items.push(data[a]);
    app.document.sorts = [{ name:"file-size",type:"dimensions", reverse:false }];
    Items = Items.sort();
    try{
    file.remove();
    file.open("w", "TEXT", "????");
    }catch(e){alert(e+" - "+e.line);}
    $.os.search(/windows/i)  != -1 ? file.lineFeed = 'windows'  : file.lineFeed = 'macintosh';
    file.writeln("<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' standalone='yes' ?>");
    file.writeln("<dirinfo>");
    file.writeln("<files>");
    for(var s in Items){
        file.writeln(Items[s]);
    file.writeln("</files>");
    file.writeln("</dirinfo>");
    file.close();
    file.hidden=true;
    app.document.sorts = [{ name:"user",type:"date", reverse:false }];
    app.document.chooseMenuItem("mondo/command/new");
    app.documents[0].close();

  • Full Screen Preview is Soft in Bridge CS4

    I'm experiencing some notable softening of images when previewing them with full screen toggled on or when viewing images as a slide show. Type of file seems irrelevant (CR2, TIFF, JPEG, etc.) nor does image size make a difference. The strange thing is that when I mouse click on an image after toggling to full screen (which brings it to 100%) the image then appears sharp. Stranger yet, when I open a jpeg previously sized to fit my monitor at 100% I must still click on it to achieve a sharp image. Images otherwise appear fine in all workspaces and no hassles with nVidia 195 drivers. I've tried all options for thumbnail previews, reset preferences, purged cache all to no avail. Is this a bug or does a solution exist? Win XP sp3.

    Curt's statement about known problems with Photoshop and Bridge is the understatement of the decade.  At least as it pertains to my Nvidia GeForce 9800GT running a Gateway FHD2400 and HP w2408 monitor.
    Upgrading from a stable install of CS2 to CS4 was a nightmare that cost me hundreds of hours with Adobe, and alone, with no solution.  Even their "clean" utilities failed to remove the software (CS2 & CS4) from my computer for a clean install of CS4.  I was forced to do a total format and reinstall of everything on my system.  That was a two week nightmare.
    After all that a clean install of CS4 still presented the same problems with PS.  The final solution was to reinstall PS7 and use it in lieu of CS4.  For my digital workflow it works just fine.  Photoshop CS2 and CS4 do not like co-existing on the same system with some unknown software driver from the one interfering with the other.
    The problems with CS4 were two-fold.  The first was an extremely slow scroll rate no matter the video display settings or PS4 settings utilized.  By slow I mean the zoom (Ctrl + 0) and then scroll around the screen using a square marquee would take up to 5 minutes on a, roughly, twenty megabyte file with no layers.  The same process in PS7 took approximately two seconds per image side.  The same image was uploaded to Adobe with similar results.  No resolution to the problem came to light after two weeks of back and forth.
    The other problem is that PS CS4 constantly comes with up the "...includes graphic card acceleration..." popup window.  This, even though it has been disabled and enabled in PS.  Neither option prevents the popup from appearing.  The problem lies somewhere with Adobe's handling of the pasteboard (that area beyond the actual image) and its interaction with the video driver.
    From both of these problems as explained it would seem that Adobe has known of the problem for some time.  This iteration of the software works beautifully on a non-Nvidia system and various different Nvidia drivers have been tried.  Since Bridge CS4, which is used continuously throughout a fifteen hour workday, works, I suppose I should count my blessings.
    The most stable Nvidia GeForce 9800GT driver I have found to be is version 181.20 with video bios version 62.92.52.00.07
    I will seriously consider whether or not to purchase the next version of Creative Suite when it appears.  My experience has been that Adobe's corporate policy is to charge customers via new versions with fixes for problems that existed in earlier software builds.  And then to create new dilemmas!
    And thank you for all that you Curt.

  • Weird Thumbnail Dimensions for EPS Files in Bridge CS4

    Using Preferences> Thumbnails, I have set Bridge CS4 to show "Dimensions" as one of the metadata items. It works correctly for PSD, NEF, and TIF files, but not EPS files. For example, a PSD file may show dimensions of 1006 x 583 pixels. But he same image converted to EPS format shows the dimensions as 207 x 120. Why is this not also showing as 1006 x 583? Is Bridge reading dimensions of the embedded preview image? And, if so, why is it not reading the dimensions of the main image, instead?
    Mike

    they remain connected as long as you do your renaming inside of Bridge
