Cannot Save Form Information pop-up in Reader, Extend Features enabled in Acrobat

I am using Acrobat Pro 9 to created fillable forms. Once they are created, I save with the "Extend Features to Adobe Reader" before uploading to my intranet for use. Despite that, my users accessing the form via Adobe Reader are told upon opening with a pop-up that they "Cannot Save Form Information, etc". I have googled this issue and searched the forums, and cannot figure out why my Extend Features isn't working and my users can't save their form data.

    Dear Chintan.
    Thanks for your reply.
The form is Online form only. THe error occuring in the following scenario.
    Process & forms:
    1. The form will be initiated by HR and fill the information and send for the confirmation to some CDT user.
Heere HR can able to Fill all the data/comments. Workflow will trigger and form will be available in the worklist of the CDT    user.
    2. CDT opens the form from the Worklist and can enter some comments in the Form and sends the form which will update the info in the backend.
first scenario is Working fine. In case of second scenario iam not able to add comments but getting error window as mentioned earlier.
Please suggest Where could i check this Adobe Credentials are installed on server ?

  • Reader Extended Features not available in downloaded PDF

I've posted a form on my website with Reader Extended Features enabled so it can be "Ink Signed". Finding that the extended features are not available in browser Reader plugins, I created a link to the PDF with PHP that allows it to be downloaded, then opened with the standalone version of Reader, but still get the message "This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this document." If I open my original local copy of the PDF it still has Extended Features enabled. What's changing in the downloaded copy?
Created in Acrobat Pro 9, opened in Reader 9.3.4
    Thanks for any insight.

Bernd--thanks for your interest. I found that the problem was the PHP script that I was using to force the PDF to download instead of open in the browser plugin. I used several variations of the script with the same results--seemed to be altering the contents of the PDF which cancelled the Reader Extended Features. A solution that I found was to add
    <FilesMatch "\.(pdf)$">
      ForceType application/octet-stream
      Header set Content-Disposition attachment
    </FilesMatch>
to the .htaccess file. Since I only wanted one PDF (not all of them on the site) to be affected, I put it and the .htaccess file in a subdirectory and linked to it there. The PDF now downloads with Reader Extended Features intact.

  • Cannot save form error after form has been created

I've created a form and fucntions well.
It has been saved as a interactive pdf.
When people with just the acrobat reader open the file and click anywhere on the form a window pops up stating that
" you cannot save form..." then the OK button appears
You are able to enter data into the fields and print, but can only save the form as a blank copy.
Any help would be much appreciated.

You need to reader enable the form in Adobe Acrobat. Click on Advanced >
Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader and Click Save Now. You can then save a
reader enabled version of the form and users will be able to save their data
    in the form.

  • File Save As Other Reader Extended PDF Enable Commenting & Measuring GRAYED OUT

I have an PDF form created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 10.0.
When I open in Reader, All the "Sign" options are grayed out.
Under "Properties" Signing is allowed but Commenting is not.
From all I have seen, I hope that allowing Commenting will allow me to use the sign features.
The only solution I'm finding on the internet is below:
File > Save As Other > Reader Extended PDF > Enable Commenting & Measuring
It is grayed out in my (latest version of) Acrobat pro.
**Is there a way to make this option available?**
**Will this even solve my problem?**
**Is it possible that it is impossible to use these features on this document?**
At this point, I've spent about two and a half hours on this issue and haven't been able to find a solution. Very frustrated.
    Thanks.

Thanks. I'm not an IT person and needed that lead.
In the end, I just printed to Adobe PDF and then was able to use the commenting options (once I had flattened it). For those who might come across this - this is one of the only ways to flatten a XFA PDF.

  • Reader Extended PDF,  Enable More Tools (includes from fill-in & Save)-

Using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI version 11.0.6, I scanned a document to PDF and added a digital signature. I saved the PDF. I then reopened the PDF and saved it with a different name as follows:
    Save As Other…
    Reader Extended PDF
Enable More Tools (includes from fill-in & Save)…
When I email the PDF to be signed, the recipient opens the form in Reader XI, but immediately gets this message: "This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document."
This document was not changed; it was sent as an email attachment right after it was saved with extended features.
What is the fix for this?
    I am using Window 7 Professional (64-bit).

I have done it both ways. If I create a new form from a PDF, it will not allow me to save it directly to extended features. I have to do as you said:  save it, close it, and reopen it to save it as extended. Just adding a digital signature will allow me to save it directly with extended features. I have, however, done it with the save, close, and reopen method as well.
The weird thing about all of this is that the person setting in the next office, running the same version of everything, has NO issues with this. Maybe it is a Windows setting???

  • Dynamically Fill PDF form (extended features enabled forms)

    Hi Tarek
Firstly let me say thank you for the great help you are doing through the forum.
With Google, I did a very long search to find out how to fill a PDF form from a database. I achieved this using the iTextSharp dll. But this dll not supporting adobe extended features. thatsy once i filled forms using this class, result form will be flat form and we cant fill it manually again. even this will disable adobe extended features when i open it in adobe reader.
I am working with a project to simplify immigration process (CANADA). I already have all immigration forms created using LiveCycle. That means when i open these form in free Adobe Reader I can fill the form manually and can save locally (offline).
    My Workflow as follows
    1. I am working with .Net Frame Work 2, Visual Studio 2005, Windows Applications (not Web/ASP)
    2. I have fillable forms designed using Adobe LiveCycle (I can fill the form manually and can save locally (offline) using Adobe Reader).
    3. I have to dynamically fill these forms with data from a database (data is already available and its almost achieved using iTextSharp Dll)
    4. Once its dynamically filled, I will send these forms to client through email, because some of the data should be filled by client.
    5. client can open these forms in free Adobe Reader and they can fill and save these forms(because Adobe extended feature enabled in this form, so they can fill and save in Adobe Reader)
    6. Once they fill and save the form, they will send back final form to us through emal (no Online Submit required).
    7. We will check it and finalize, take printout and attach to our document management system.
    8. I can't use any great technologies bcz I dont need any online Submision/Rejection thing and our budjet is low.
    9. I am looking some technologies same as itextShar, simply fill data to form and save it as a new PDF, but it should support Adobe Extended Featers( what is currently not available in iTextSharp), so that customer can fill and save it again using simple  and free ADOBE READER.
    That's it !!
could u please verify my workflow is correct or not, bcz am new to PDF things and can u please suggest me solution to achieve this.
    Thanks in advance
    Ajo Joseph

iTextSharp doesn't enable usage rights in PDF forms, so any changes will invidate the form.
To bypass the validitiy of the Usage Rights, server the XDP data from the buffer of a web server, and point the File to the PDF on the same web server.
Usage rights will still be enabled, and the form can be saved or downloaded.
Also, please be sure to check out FDFToolkit.net, and PDFEmail.net.

  • Reader Extend Feature for sign document

If you like to sign the PDF document in Reader, please apply Reader Extend feature from Acrobat product first and save the file, and then you can sign the document in Reader.
Some user will sign the document first and apply Reader Extend feature later, this workflow will break the sign workflow.
Thanks for Acrobat product customers to use the product and give us this useful feedback.

Something happened to the file after the time that it was Reader-enabled. It was modified in a way that invalidates the digital signature that controls whether the usage rights are valid. I seem to recall the GoLive can be configured to modify (optimize somehow?) PDFs when it uploads them, and you definately don't want this to happen for Reader-enabled documents. I don't have GoLive, so I can't check what setting it is, but you should be able to look for yourself. A workaround would be to upload via some other means, such as FTP. I'd be interested to know if this makes a difference.

  • Cannot save form although I've enabled the rights using Acro 8 Pro

I created a form in Acrobat 8 Pro (using the 30 day trial, trying to see if I can do it first as suggested I can before I buy). I prepared the form in the design mode, I enabled it with save (and other) capabilities for Reader (under the advanced menu), but when I test it by opening it in Reader 6.0 (latest version I have), I am not able to save it.
Do I need to have a later version of Reader? My customers likely won't.
In reader, I type into it and get the pop up telling me I cannot save anything typed into the form, etc. etc. I try to click the SUBMIT and PRINT buttons I enabled while in Acro 8 Pro, nothing works.
    Have I missed a step ... or 5????
Would like this capability, cannot for the life of me figure out how to get it to work! I would buy the software if this was possible, and can make good use of the 500 and under document rule in the EULA.

I created the form using Live Cycle Designer b/c that was how Adobe prompted me to create INTERACTIVE forms that would be able to be assigned privilges. From your comments (Steve Foxall), it seems I do have the option but didn't take it. I will look into that also.
Aandi - I set up the submit and print through the Designer wizard-system and provided an email address (which works when I open the document using Acro 8 PROFESSIONAL, but not READER).
I have tested it in Reader 7 and 8, it works in both. But not 6, it seems. Same form, no changes. Hmmm.

  • Cannot save Word 2003 doc in Adobe Reader 8.0

I did my resume' in a Misrosoft 2003 Word template and there I cannot save it in Adobe Reader 8.0. Please help!  : ) Thank you

Well, you'll need something other than Adobe Reader to make a PDF. CHeck online for some free tools if you don't want to plop down some cash.

  • Can't Edit a form after converting it to reader extended

I am struggling with an issue when creating a form. I create the form in Word, convert and edit in Acrobat Pro, then save a version as "reader extended" so that our users can fill it out. However, there were some errors in the form after I saved it as "reader extended". I tried to save a copy but it says I can't "edit form"...What do I do?
    here are some screen shots:

so i have a pdf file I'm working on as  "test.pdf"   I save a version as "test_fill_in.pdf" with reader extended and then distributed.
I was advised some of the form functions and fields were not correct so I needed to edit the  test_fill_in.pdf.
To edit I did the following:
    Opened the "test_fill_in.pdf" in acrobat
    Save a copy as "test_fill_in_1.pdf"
Received "You cannot edit this file as a form" message
    what am i doing wrong?
I've had to recreate this form from scratch sooo many times!!

  • Acrobat Pro won't allow to save with Reader Extended Features

I've saved forms this way before because all the users of our forms only have the free Reader version. For some reason it now won't allow me to save with the extended features. When I save as and hover over "Reader Extended PDF" it shows my 3 options but none of them are clickable. I don't know why it has saved before, but it won't now.
I also have a secondary issue. A form I previously, successfully saved this way is now not working for one of the users. It won't allow her to save the information she inputs. To my knowledge it has not been changed and it has only been used by a few people. Why would it suddenly stop allowing her to save?
I am working on a Mac, but the users are all on PC's. I've never had this be an issue before though.

Be sure you're not in form editing mode when you attempt to enable the document.
Regarding not being able to save with Reader after initially being able to, this has been reported before many times but the casue is often elusive. The document has somehow changed in a way that prevents the usage rights from being validated. This is not supposed to happen, but it does.

  • Enable reader extended feature

How do I enable the extended feature in my Adobe Reader? As I am having problems editing my forms.
    Thanks.
    Obinze

The extended features are applied to a file, not to the entire application. This needs to be done in Acrobat, not in Reader.
