CANNOT send SMS messages with ADDRESS BOOK on POWERBOOK using iPHONE

I cannot send SMS messages with my address book or dial phone numbers using my Powerbook via the iPHONE.
Previously, with my Sony Ericson phone, I could do both. It's very useful, when you are at your laptop, to use your computer keyboard to send SMS text messages back and forth rather than using the clumsy small keys on a phone.
Can someone help?
Is there something I am missing?

You are not missing something here and no one here can help you. This is not an included Bluetooth profile with the iPhone at the present time anyway.
If you purchased your iPhone within the last 14 days, you can return it for credit less a 10% restocking fee and if not, here is Apple's feedback link for the iPhone.

The first run of Messages will ask you to enter an Apple ID to "register' with iMessages.
If you do not do this but open the App and look in Preferences > Accounts then you will see the iMessages account and the Bonjour Account which will not be activated.
Neither of these two account can be deleted. (even if not being used)
If you then press the + icon to add you will get the choices you posted.
To iMessage you need to "register" and Apple ID with the iMessages service.
As Diane then points out you can link this to your iPhone number.
This "syncs" (Displays on all devices) the various iMessages sent to either iPhone or Apple ID
You can then chose on both iPhone or Mac version how or which ID/Number is going to be used to "Start the conversations from"
I have my Mac version set to start from my Apple ID and the iPhone from it's number.
At this moment the Mac version cannot send SMS text messages to an iPhone.
This is apparently coming with iOS 8 and OS 10.10 (Yosemite)
An AIM account can send SMS Messages but only to a limited number of USA based phone users on these carriers.
(Basically you add a phone number with country code +1 as a Buddy to your List)
Mocked up number (It not really an auto responder although you do get sent back and Error message about it not being valid)

Cannot SEND SMS messages on 8130

Here's my story:
1. I upgraded to a Blackberry Pearl 8130 in pink earlier this year. My carrier is Verizon.
2. Recently (say a month ago), a friend sent a text message to me from her new phone. I attempted to text her back, but received a big fat red X indicating that my message did not go through. Specifically, when I open my message, the error says, "Mobile equipment status failed."
3. I went to Verizon. They did something where I think they took me off the network and then put me back on. This did nothing. She wanted to do a hard set on the phone, but I had not backed up my data yet.
4. I went home and backed up my data and went back to Verizone about a week later. I spend over an hour in the store. The gentleman that was helping me was on the phone with someone (presumably technical support) to no avail. He was ready to order me a replacement phone, but after further discussion with tech support, they thought there was an issue with the network, not my phone. I went home with a case number.
5. The very next day Verizon called me. They indicated that it wasn't a network issue and that it was my phone. They were going to send me a replacement.
6. I received my replacement phone a couple of days later. I was anxious to get it set up, but the results have been the same. I have not yet returned to Verizon. I thought I'd try here first to see if anyone had any ideas.
The bottom line:
I CAN send/receive e-mails.
I CAN send a MMS message.
I CAN receive SMS messages.
I CANNOT send SMS messages.

Two months later and I finally ..yes FINALLY figured out the SMS issue I previously mentioned on my own out of sheer frustration. I have a Pearl 8130. First ..thanks to everyone for the previous suggestions for resolution here on this board, Google and other areas I've searched many times over however ..none of the suggetions or options worked ..ie, battery pull, *228, calling Alltel tech support many times, going to the Alltel store etc.. you name it I tried it. Guess what? And this is for anyone else who may have had the same problem.. sad to say it was a very simple change in the settings that resolved the "X SMS error 0, Message ID 99" response on every single text (sms) I tried to send.
1.) Click the Call Log icon
2.) Select the menu button (immediate right of the track ball)
3.) Select Options - this will give you a list that begins with "General Options" ..etc
From this list..
4.) Select Smart Dialing
From here you will see an option for "Use "1" for National Dialing"
If it on the default setting of "no" change it to "yes"
Save your selection as normal and you should be good to go.
The funny thing in all of this ..I was recently in Southern California (I live in Arizona) and while there I had absolutely no trouble whatsoever sending or receiving. Upon my return to AZ the problem resurfaced and I have to admit that after 7yrs with Alltel (soon to be Verizon) I am truly disappointed with tech support for the very first time. A simple default setting needed to be changed ~sigh~
Hope this works for anyone else who is having issues ..specifically Alltel/Verizon.

Cannot send any message with my N95

I cannot send any message with my nokia n95 phone. It says "Memory full. Close some programs and try again" where in fact, and I'm very much sure that there's no any program running.
What memory is referred here? What's happening to my phone? What should I do then? I've been restoring my phone's factory settings since the problem occured yet the problem is still there. Please help me with it's been quite a long time since this problem started to annoy me. Thank you.

I am having this exact same issue with my N82. Very frustrating. Only way to send a message is via MMS. Also I am not receiving all the messages people are sending me. Are others having this issue as well?

Cannot pair Nokia E62 with Address Book

I could not pair my Nokia E62 with Address Book after updating to 10.4.9 and decided, along with other reasons, to erase and install my OS. After all the updates were finished, I ended up with the same result. iSync recognizes my phone and works properly, however, Address Book will not pair no matter what I do. If you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!

It appears that Mac OS X Tiger version 10.4.9 does not currently support receiving SMS messages through AddressBook, at least with the Nokia E62.

No longer able to send text message from Address Book

For a long time, I've sent text messages from Address Book, via Bluetooth and my SE phone. However, all of a sudden, the messages are no longer being received by the receipents, despite them appearing to be sent.
Any ideas what's wrong?

How to send SMS Message with Automator

I find the Action listed but I don't know where I type my message.

I discovered that I have to add the action Ask for Text prior to the Send SMS Message. Also, I found it odd that I am sending to my iPHone which is AT&T here in the US, but I have to choose Cingular from the carrier dropdown before the text comes through.

I've never really used ichat before and apparently sms messages can't be sent using jabber. Is there anything i can use or change on my ichat so that i'm able to send sms messages ?

As you have somewhat found out it can only be AIM Buddies (Or rather US Phones via the AIM service).
The Computer has to be set to "be In" the United States (See th Language and Text pane in Lion or International in earlier OS versions.
The Phone then has to be on a Carrier that also takes the AIM SMS forwarding service.

Cannot send SMS messages on iPhone 4

I purchased an iPhone 4 yesterday and it is allowing me to ring people but I can't seem to send or recieve sms messages or recieve phonecalls and when I ring someone it says 'withheld number'? Whats happening and why can't I send messages?

Are you in an area with sufficiant radio signal? Try the following:
Move near a window
Go for a walk
Locate and avoid thick metal ceilings
Avoid microwaves and similar devices
Once you are in a proper area, try the following:
Open Settings
Activate Airplane Mode
Wait five to ten seconds
Deactivate Airplane Mode
Allow radio and Wi-Fi signals to recooperate
Reattempt your SMS message

TS2755 cannot send sms messages

since resetting my iphone 4s I can send i messages but not sms messages. Only my email address shows in settings and I do not know how to add my number. can anyone help please

Cannot send sms message using version 7.0.3

I have checked all of the settings against the User Manual and tried all of the topics in the trouble shooting section of the Apple website. I have compared the phone settings against another i phone which can send to the specific address. There are no problems sending an i message.

My wife and I were having same issue after upgrading to iOS 7.0.3. I called apple support and they said it was because we were using the same Apple ID for iMessage/FaceTime on both iPhones. I created a new Apple ID (just for iMessage/FaceTime) on my phone and it seems to have fixed my issues. Using original Apple ID on my wife's phone and mms hasn't started functioning for pics yet on that device. iMessage is working fine however. We always turned the email part of iMessage/FaceTime off, so I'm not sure why it started being an issue now. FYI, I was told that iMessage and FaceTime should use same Apple IDs.

IPhone3g Cannot send SMS Messages without entering phone number w/area code

i get an error 1121611611 "please enter 10 digit number". The contact i messaged number is 10 digits in my contacts. I hope i dont have to re-enter the phone number with area code for every text message. any solution to this problem, is there a way to automatically include the area code on text messaging? The contact has the same area code as me.

I am having the same problem as well...it seems that for dummies like me who never spent much time texting before I got the iphone that I did not know you had to enter a person's area code also to text them (hence the 10 digit error message).
That said, I, like you, put in the area code and got things to work--problem is when you save to Favorites. So here is what I discovered on my own while chatting with an Apple tech support rep: When you save to Favorites, if the person you are calling/texting has your same area code, the program then deletes the area code prior to dialing and you can't get out. I gave the tip to the tech--she said she would forward it to the appropriate folks. It seems they need to slightly change the code so that Favorites does not eliminate the area code on local calls/texts. I also talked to ATT who said that ideally one should always use the area code for all calls--not sure why as it works just fine to not enter it, but that is what she said.
So my workaround for now is to not have my wife in Favorites so that I can text her--seems to work ok if just dialing from Contacts as long as you have the area code stored with the number in Contacts.
Hope this works for you as it did for me--hope they will address it and fix it.
