Cannot sort emails sent from Mail App and Exchange

When trying to sort emails on Outlook in Windows, lets say by "Flag", emails coming from a mac using mail app and exchange get placed at the top of the list.
Have tried sending emails from the same account via webmail and iphone and they get sorted correctly.
Anyone has had this problem?

So, Here's what happens:
1) Send email from Laptop (Snow Leopard) with Exchange Integration
2) Send email from iPhone (3.1) with Exchange Integration
In Outlook 2003 sort by flag (neither of these messages are flagged). Any email sent from the Snow Leopard is sorted first in the Unflagged category in Outlook. Any of the email sent from the iPhone is sorted normally.
There's no differences in the headers to cause these to sort differently. The only headers that differ are the Date, Subject/Thread-Topic, Thread-Index, Message-ID, x-ems-stamp. But, in the Message-ID it has the same domain.
Both Snow Leopard and iPhone are configured to use the same Exchange OWA/OWS.

  • 10.6.7, hardware failure but the hard drive is intact.  I can access the hard drive via Linux.  Need to get mail from Mail.app and from Entourage 2004.

I need to know a couple of things, but y'all may not have all the answers I need.
First, I need to know how to retrieve the mail files from Mail.app and from Entourage 2004.  I don't know if this is a valid asusmption, but in my experience with Windows, I know that Outlook keeps everything in a single monolithic .PST file.  Is this the case with either Mail.app or with Entourage?
Second, I need to know how to access said mail files in a Linux mail app.  The mail from Mail.app is more important than that from Entourage, so it has to take priority.  Will I need some sort of converter program, or is there enough similarity between Mail.app and one of the Linux mail applications that I can simply import it?  (BTW, I'm running Ubuntu Linux 11.04 on my Linux netbook. I wish there was some way I could get Snow Leopard on here.)
Any advice on any of this problem will be extremely helpful. Thanks.

Direct install MacBuntu (based upon Ubuntu 11.04)
    http://www.oslike.se/
I have it running on one of my single core netbooks.
WIth your other problem, just borrow a Mac temporariy, drag a enclosure to a Apple Store and use one of theirs, they don't mind as they have Deep Freeze installed on all their machines so changes don't stick upon rebooting.

  • Email originating from Mail.app is junked

    Community,
My company is using Exchange 2003 for our email server, which has had its series of troubles. However, the most recent one seems related to the new Lion and Mountain Lion operating systems, instead of an aging Exchange server.
Email is set up as IMAP on both mobile and desktop devices. This is due to the lack of Exchange support in newly released versions of Mac OS.
The strange thing is, that email sent from the desktop computers, even to other emails in our domain ([email protected] <--> [email protected]), show up as Junk. However, emails from the iPhones or iPads do not.
Has anyone seen an issue like this? We're starting to troubleshoot a variety of possiblities to begin finding the issue, but there are literally a thousand different reasons this might happen... Could be awhile!
    Thanks for any information,
    Charlie

This has not been a problem with the use of Lion as the source of messages?
I suspect it is due to the presence of HTML in messsage text, which as been a problem in OSX for a long time, but only in Lion did it become harder to prevent by making the message Plain Text.  I know how to prevent Rich Text/HTML in Lion, and suspect the same is needed for Mountain Lion but have not yet had time to confirm as the same issue.
If you send me an email that will typically get marked as Junk, it might speed my analysis.  My email can be found by clicking on my name to the left, and looking in the bio line of the resulting Profile.
The server may be adding a Junk or SPAM labeling, and your email may only be responding to that header -- that is one of the thing I need to see from an example.

  • Mail.app and Exchange issue

Hello. I have 7 exchange accounts (45,000 letters in them) in my mail.app and every day i have a problem that mail.app delete all messages and start downloading it form server. Can any one help me with this problem.
p.s. on the other macbook i have 1 exchage account with 18.000 messages and it works fine.
Is this problem because to many exchange accounts or to many messages or because i use VPN for take mail from this accounts? Help me please.

I can't even get the Exchange Mailbox to appear in Mail.app. The same account works for Calendar and Reminders (Tasks). Configuring as an "Other" type account also does not work. Instead I end up with an IMAP style account that can't be deleted from mail.app.

  • Gmail cannot receive email sent from SBO-Mailer

    Dear All,
I can receive emails from SBO-Mailer to my company email. My colleague can also receive email sent to her company email. However, I can not receive email if it is sent to my gmail or hotmail or yahoo. Did I miss something?

    Hi,
You may try to use this sap note solution if probably you are interested to use gmail smtp :
SBO Mailer doesn't work in Login Authentication mode
    Symptom
You test connection in SBO mailer with Login Authentication mode unsuccessfully and the error message below is shown:
    Login authentication failed. or
Login authentication not supported by SMTP server.
Also, you fail to send emls in SAP Business One with Login Authentication mode.
    Other terms
    SMTP
    Reason and Prerequisites
    Consulting
    Solution
This is usually because of wrong settings in SBO mailer. Gmail for example, you should set as the following:
    SMTP Server: smtp.gmil.com
    SMTP Port: 587
    Username: ***@gmil.com
    Password: ****
    Encoding: English (United States)
    SMTP Client: Microsoft .NET
    Authentication: Basic Authentication
    Use TLS Encryption: Yes
If you choose Microsoft .NET as SMTP Client, the "test connection" button in SBO mailer is invalid but it can still send emails in SAP Business One.

  • Can't open PDF email attachments from mail app. (iOS7, iPad2)

Since upgrading to iOS7 I cannot open PDF email attachments from the "Mail" app. The attachment appears as a "tap to download" icon, after downloading it appears as an image of the first page of the PDF. An extended press of the PDF image results in "save image" and "copy" options, but no "open in" option.
I have tried closing and re-opening mail, restarting the iPad, several different attachments. Still no "Open in" option.
    Any help with this?

I work in a support organization and we've seen variations of this issue develop on various iphones and ipads with ios7.  Oddly, not everyone is experiencing this, just some people.
In my own case, I simply downloaded Acrobat Reader for free and can read the things fine.
We use an exchange activesync email server and when each email comes in it indicates at the very bottom that it has been downloaded as plain text and to click to download the entire message.  I've tried clicking to download and not clicking and I can read the PDF either way.
In my own case I can view PDF files and/or also save them by pressing and holding the icon of the PDF in the email.
The other thing one of our end users noticed: if she emailed the PDF directly to her iPhone5 and iPad it would not be readable but if she forwarded it to her offsite Yahoo account and then forward to her corporate email it would open.
I think there's definetely something going on with the formatting of the PDF (was it created by a true Adobe PDF distiller or one of the many clones?), what email application attached it? (Outlook, Eudora, IOS Mail, etc) and how many PDF reading apps are on your IOS devices?
For instance I have the default PDF reader, iBooks, Kindle, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and there may be others that I don't even know has PDF capability.   Only Apple probably has a good idea of how many apps utilize this.

  • Several hour delay in receiving emails sent from mail?

for 3 years i've had a pop email account with yahoo and it has worked flawlessly with my apple mail program until a few days ago when people started telling me that the emails i sent took several hours to reach them. so, using mail, i sent myself a test and confirmed the delay. emails i send immediately appear in my "sent" folder yet they don't reach their intended recipients until hours later. this problem is intermittent. there was a brief window the other day when emails i was sending from mail were arriving quickly. but, the problem soon returned and persists now. the problem does not affect the receiving of emails with mail. in other words, i am receiving all emails with mail. the problem only affects emails i send using apple mail.
when i access my email account directly through yahoo to send emails, those emails arrive immediately.
i hope i have described the problem clearly enough and i thank the community in advance for any insight and/or suggestions.

If you select a message in Mail's message viewer, then select the menu item View > Message > Long Headers, the message headers will be displayed. Depending on how the message was routed, there may be several "Received" fields - these get added at each mail server that handles the message. Each "Received" field contains information such as IP addresses, host names, dates, and times - these can be used to tell how the message was routed and how long it took. Note that a sender can fake, or "spoof", their information (usually these are spammers), but once the message reaches real-world servers the information will be correct.

  • Need to import 20 email accounts from Mail.app to my iPhone 6.

    HI,
At one time I would see a listing in iTunes of all the email accounts I could import into my iPhone 4.
I did that for a while but then was running low on space and deleted all the email accounts on the phone.
Now I have an iPhone 6 with more room and want to import the accounts.
But the listing is no longer shown in iTunes. (must have gone away in one of the updates).
I have iCloud linking my Safari tabs across my devises so I think iCloud is running properly.
Is there a quick way to get the accounts into my phone? Or do I have to add them one at a time?
    Thanks for any tips/info.
    DA./

It does sound like the index is corrupted - if the messages aren't in the index, then the fact that they're in the mbox still won't let mail see them.
Are there a lot of messages that are missing?
if it's not too many - then open each one from the mbox-messages - then click message-move to from the mail menu & "move " them to the folder they're already in - after that they'll be visible in the mail app. actually , choose "move to xxx again" - it saves time. It doesn't matter if you do this to a message that is already visible in mail.
I don't know a quick way to do this - but you can select multiple messages from the library & ctrl-click-open which at least opens a load at once.
moving them in finder, or trying to import from a copy of the folder doesn't help.
There's probably a much easier way - try some serious searching of these discussions.

  • Email sent from Mail (Mavericks) not getting received!?

When I send an email it leaves the Outbox and winds up in Sent, but it is not received at the other end. It  disappears into the void: no error message, no bounce notification, nothing. It's hard to say how long this has been going on since I have no way of knowing which emails were received and which weren't.
My email is hosted with Bluehost. (I have a ticket open with them but they take up to 72 hours to respond.) According to Connection Doctor their SMTP server is working. Mail sent via their webmail interface works fine. Nor is it any particular receiving domain; test mails to my Gmail and Yahoo accounts were also not received.
I have all kinds of other complaints about Mail (in particular with search) that I've chosen to live with but this problem is obviously intolerable. Is there anything I can try while I wait for Bluehost to verify that the server's working?
[Mail 7.2 (1874) with PGP plugin installed; turning off PGP gives the same result.]

There is a reason we suggest only composing HTML signature in the composer and saving the file. However, could you email me to see what that signature actually looks like (It might bounce we will see how google likes it.) this forum really messes up HTML source

  • Emails sent from mail showing up as double in Eudora

Hi, When sending mail to people at work (I'm on Mac Mail, they're on Eudora version 7) the message sometimes comes up as double, as in the text just repeats itself within the message.
I'm trying to work out the when exactly it does it but to know avail.
It's happened with the following types of mail:
Email to a list, with attachement.
Email to single person, with attachement.
But then again, it doesn't always happen when emailing a single person, with an attachement.
I know there was a thread on jpegs coming up double but that was for emails received in mail.
    Most curious. Any thoughts?
    Many thanks.

When you send a rich-text e-mail, the actual message contains two different versions of the text: one in rich text, one in plain text. E-mail clients are supposed to choose the appropriate one to use. Evidently, Eudora is not doing that correctly.

  • Mail.app and Exchange 2007 with Rollup 3 ... anyone get it to work?

Spent way too much time on this...
After finding our our Exchange 2007 server didn't have the legacy components installed to ensure WebDav would work, we can now connect to our Exchange 2007 mail server from Microsoft Entourage for all Windows Active Directory accounts.
For Apple Mail however, this is not the case. Opening mail, the account information does default in accurately (email, userID, exchange 2007 server) when I enter a users password, it says that it is unable to connect to mail server user/password failed.
If I manually create the account, the same thing occurs, a pop-up appears prompting for a password, which I enter and it comes back saying it isn't valid.
The password is valid because on the same Mac I open up Entourage and log in.
Keychain is NOT used and none of the passwords are held because of the headaches this causes.
Looking for ideas, thinking this is more of an Apple Mail.app bug not working with Exchange than a Microsoft issue.

Just want to add to this...it was resolved the Advanced tab is very important on mail.app.
The Advance tab authentication must match what the Exchange server/Active Directory is using.
For us NTLM is what we need to use.
Also we found that one exchange server had a bad installation while another had no problem connecting via mail.app.
Thus the installation is going to be looked at.

  • Windows 8.1 Mail app and Exchange Autodiscover

An organisation Im currently supporting has exchange 2010 and autodiscover setup. I've used nslookup to verify autodiscover settings and everything seems ok. When I launch the Windows 8.1 Mail metro app, autodiscover is not working. I have to enter all the
required fields to get email working.
Is this anything additionally for Windows Mail autodiscover to work that is different from autodiscover for the Outlook client that needs to be in place?
Is it a requirement for Exchange Active sync to be enabled? I've been told they are using a 3rd party tool, possibly Sophos,
    thanks

    Hi,
As far as I know, Mail APP doesn't have autodiscover ability to identify the confirguation of Exchange. While, in my opinion, it would be better to contact the Mail APP support for further assistance:

  • Mavericks mail.app and exchange online - crash

    Hello everyone!
I want to setup my exchange online account within mavericks 10.9.2. Everytime i try this the mail.app crashes with the following errorreport:
    Application Specific Information:
*** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '*** setObjectForKey: object cannot be nil (key: serverName)'
    abort() called
terminating with uncaught exception of type NSException
With OS X 10.8 (Parallels Desktop installation) and Outlook for Mac 2011 on Mavericks the setup of the exchange online account works as expected wihtout any crash.
The Mavericks installation was a clean install (no upgrade)
Have someone else the same problem and maybe a solution for this? The problem exists since 10.9.0 and my hope was 10.9.2... still the same shi...!
    - Cyberspace

I don't know if you found a solution yet but this is what I found, tested and verified to work for me. (Osx Mavericks with all latest updates).
    1) Disconnect from Internet first (unplug network cable or turn off wifi)
    2) setup the Exchange account
    3) the lack of Internet connection will force the wizard to ask for server name
    4) input the server name (outlook.office365.com if you are using exchange online)
    5) connect to the internet THEN click OK or CONTINUE
    6) then it will work like a charm...
here is the link to the thread that I foudn the solution from

  • Mail.app and Exchange Server Problems?

I am an Apple Mail user and my university just switched to an Exchange Server 2003 for student e-mail. The university is only supporting Entourage, but I have configured Mail to work with Exchange without any major problem. This week, I have noticed that I have a problem where Mail.app will say that I have four new e-mails in my Exchange in-box. When I click on my Exchange in-box, no new e-mail appears. After experiencing this problem for about a week, I finally logged onto our Exchange web access site for the university. I discovered that I did indeed have four new e-mails in my in-box, but these e-mails were not showing up in Mail.app. Interestingly, all of the e-mails were undeliverable e-mails that had popped back because I had the wrong address. I am wondering why these e-mails would show up in on web access, but not show up in Mail.app.
I have spoken with our university tech. support numerous times and they have been unable to figure out the problem. It seems this may be a Mail.app isse as opposed to an Exchange problem.
    Thanks,
    Joe Biedlingmaier

I use Exchange at work and have 5 Macs working with it w/o problems. The trick is to correctly specify SMPT and Outlook Web Access Server.
    Do the following:
When you create a new mail account, choose IMAP or Exchange (if it shows on the list)
for Email Address specify your exchange email address
    continue
for Incoming Mail Server: use name of the server without any prefixes such as mail. (The example shown under the box is wrong. It took me forever to figure it out)
for username and password use the same one you use when log in into exchange webmail
    continue
for outgoing email server use the name of the server, again without smtp.
you may need to use authentification in order to send mail. In that case use the same user and password as when you log into your exchange
I was doing it as I was writing this to make sure it workes. It does.
