I cannot update his ipod software either. I got all the way to the last part of the process and "Unknown error" (6) popped up. ARGH!!!

IPhoto won't open due to the not being updated but when I check to upgrade to iPhoto 11 it tells me it is installed. The photos in the library were modified using 9.1.5 and the iPhoto is said to be 7.1.5 (iPhoto 8). Any ideas?

How do you know the library was modified with iPhoto 9 (11)? If you've never had iPhoto 9 on your Mac it could'nt have. It sounds like a damaged library. Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

The blluetooth isn't meant to do that. It's largely meant for headphones and keyboards.
now, if you have the camera connection kit you can attach your iPod to your iPad using that (plugging the iPod's charging cable to the USB part of the CCK) and the photos will transfer. I've done it with my Touch.

You'll likely need the assistance of some third party software such as the one below to get the job done. Keep in mind that your photos will no longer be in their full resolution, but instead will be the scaled down thumbnail versions that were optimized for viewing on your iPod.

They can, but the images will only be the small thumbnail files that are created for optimized viewing on the iPod's smaller display. That is unless you store the images on the iPod in their full resolution.

Hi, I need to transfer photos from iphone to mac. My mac can 'see' my iphone with iphoto open, but the box says there are no photos to download. Could anyone help me please? This has never been a problem before (it was fine about 2 weeks ago). I've tried turning both devices off and have spent a couple of hours trying to search for this problem on the internet. I am trying to put songs onto my brand new iPhone. I have itunes version 10.6.3 and it says that I need 10.7 or earlier in order to sync the IPhone, so I found that download, attempted to download it, but now it says you need Mac OS X 10.6.8 or better. Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

I just turned on my iPod Touch and all my music has been wiped... (my iTunes was set to manually manage music, and all my apps are still on the iPod...).

What has happened and how do I get my music back? Obviously I have some of it on iTunes but others I don't have anymore... That makes it difficult to provide any assistance. I hate to say this but you chose to manage the music yourself and there's no way that i/we can figure out what you did that caused the problem.
