I cant seem ti find "expose and spaces" in system preferences. Can anybody help please?

If you upgraded from Snow Lepoard OS 10.6.x that had Exposé and Space, then those two have been integrated into Mission Control in Lion OS 10.7.x. You can learn more in the Apple KB article Mac 101: Mission Control. Mission Control is in System Preferences. Another source of info about Mission Control, Exposé and Spaces is from the Help menu in the Finder. Just type any one of those elements in the search box and you should get a few articles that are connected to each other.

Blank screen in Expose and Spaces preferences

When I open expose and spaces in system preferences all I get is a blak screen. I want to set some application preferences for spaces.

I called Apple support and they were able to help me. Here's what they had me remove:
com.apple.dashboard.client.plist
com.apple.dashboard.plist
com.apple.dock.plist
com.apple.finder.plist
com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist
my home/library Caches folder
the root Library/Caches folder
I rebooted and my Mac was back and running normal. I think that /Library/Caches removal was the key part but I can't say for sure.

Dashboard Preferences: Why does Mac OS direct me to Expose and Spaces Pane?

When I right click on the Dashboard Icon in the Dock and select "Dashboard Preferences..." I am directed to the System Preference pane for Expose and Spaces.
This doesn't appear to be logical.
Is there a true "Dashboard Preference" pane?

arrow indicates there are files but no files show in

I have no file named list.plist since I trash the one I told before.
Is this similar to the "hide system
files" option in Windows? If so, how do I turn on

On Mac, if a file is hidden* there is a good reason... so don't try to make them visible except if you know exactly what you do !
* In general, a file which name begins with a dot is invisible in Finder.

Expose' and Spaces preference plane is blank

I upgraded my original core duo 20" iMac to Snow Leopard last night and it mostly went fine. I did need to repair permissions to get the 10.6.8 combo update to install properly but that was the only hiccup I noticed at first. However, after a few minutes of usage, I noticed that my Expose' and Spaces preference pane went blank. I was able to use it upon first boot but after a while I tried to go back in and click on the pref pane and got nothing aside from the message that the Expose and Spaces preferences were loading. I clicked again and the window appeared but was blank. Here's what I've tried so far.
I logged out as myself and logged in as my wife and her preference pane appears without a problem.
I repaired permissions several times including from a boot CD.
I removed the relevant cache and plist files from my Library folder.
I was able to get the pref pane back for a while but honestly I don't know exactly what I did to get it to come back. I believe it was after I removed my com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist file but I can't be totally sure. One thing I noticed was that after removing com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist, the file did not come back on it's own after trying to edit the preferences. I even copied the com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist from my wife's Library but that didn't seem to help (I'm still somewhat of a new Mac guy so I don't even know if that is a viable solution in the first place.)
I've seen other people experiencing problems with blank preference panes but it doesn't seem like their solutions are relevant to my problem. Also I would have thought that there might be a corrupt pref file somewhere but the fact that the behavior is normal under my wife's profle seems to suggest that all is well at the system file level.
Any help is, of course, greatly appreciated.

Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
defaults write -g ApplePressAndHoldEnabled NO
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Log out or restart the computer.

Firing Up Web Sharing
Here’s how you turn your Mac into a low-budget Web site: Put the HTML documents, graphics, and files you want to publish into your Home → Sites folder. Every account’s Home folder has a Sites folder, and therefore the Mac can actually serve up lots of Web sites at once. Your Web site’s home page, by the way, won’t appear unless it’s named index.html. (Apple has already put an index.html document into your Sites folder, just to give you the idea; feel free to replace it.) And the other files you put in Sites aren’t accessible unless they’re linked from your index.html page.
Open System Preferences; click Sharing. Turn on the Web Sharing radio button.
Use the Sharing System Preferences pane to make designated folders on your hard drive available to anyone on your network. Note that your Mac’s IP address, shown here in underlined type, works only when people connect from across the local network. It probably won’t work from across the Internet; see the box on the facing page. You’ve just made the contents of your Sites folder available to anyone who connects to your Mac. Also note the line below the Computer Name box. That’s your Mac’s Bonjour name, which is a bit friendlier than its IP address. Send your network address to your friends and coworkers
People on your local office network can use your Mac’s Bonjour name to connect. It appears at the top of the Sharing pane, as shown in Figure 22-1. For example, your colleagues can type http:// office-mac.local/ ~ chris into their Web browsers, where office-mac.local is your Mac’s Bonjour name and chris is your short user name. If other people will be connecting from the Internet, you need to figure out your public IP address; as noted in the box on The IP Address Mess: Port Forwarding, that might be your router’s IP address, not your Mac’s. This is your Mac’s main Web site folder, and its address is simply, for example, http:// 111.222.3.44/. That is, it’s just your public IP address, no user name needed. (Here again, if people will be connecting from across your office network, they can replace the IP number with your Mac’s Bonjour name.) Working with this primary Web site folder is only slightly different from the personal ones described above. Because you’re now working inside an official Mac OS X system folder, you must mind your permissions. Using the File → Get Info command, you should set up the permissions of any folders and documents inside the Library → Web-Server → Documents folder (an Images folder, for example). That way, you can ensure that you’re in control of which visitors are allowed to do what with your Web documents. The Easiest Way to Distribute Files Here’s a handy secret: If there isn’t a document whose name is index.html in your Sites folder (or index.html.en in your Library → WebServer → Documents folder), then visitors see, in their browsers, a handy list of the files that are in that folder (see Figure 21-2). This is a terrific convenience: It offers a quick, simple way for you to make a bunch of documents available for downloading. All your visitors have to do is click one of these file names. I have tried deleting preferences "plist" but I am totally unable to remove the folders.

I've seen one other report like yours, and I think the issue is caused by a bug, but I don't know what triggers it.
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Since you are still under the Apple warranty, please give Apple tech support a call (before your 90 day phone support expires, if you did not buy the APP yet...) If the problem is more than just a simple software glitch, they will be able to fix it right away for you...

How did you back them up? If you have an iCoud backup of your phone, that will include your camera roll photos. To recover them, restore the backup as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521.

Films can't be redownloaded in all countries, and even where they can be not all studios have agreed to it. Have you checked to see if you they show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes, and the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone ?
If you can't redownload them you haven't got a copy of them on your backup of your downloads/library ?

Search for the apps by swiping from screen to screen or by using Spotlight. If you are running iOS 7 swipe down form the middle of the home screen to get to the search, if you are using an earlier iOS, swipe to the right form your first home screen to get to the search. Type in Settings. When the app appears tap on it and it will open.
For the App Store - Check Settings>General>Restrictions and make sure that you didn't disable it.
You can also reset the home screen layout and the icon will reappear - but the home screen will return to the way that it looked when you first activated your iPad.
Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.

Unable to map expose and spaces keys to function keys on unibody macbook

Hi all. I just bought a unibody macbook and wanted to add the spaces key to view all the windows in all spaces to the F5 key, and another expose key to F6. I went into the control panel under "expose and spaces" and "keyboard shortcuts" under "keyboard" and tried to set these keys. But it never actually accepts any of the settings I make. I put the settings to make them f5 and f6 but nothing happens when I press the keys. I know about the gestures and the hardcoded keys that are predefined on the macbook, but none of these allows me to use spaces to look at all the windows.
What's going on here, have they made it impossible to set your own keys for these things now? Is f5 and f6 just totally unusable now? Is there a workaround?
This is really annoying. Any suggestions?

haha, I just figured it out after I posted it. It's Function-F5 that it get's mapped to even though it still says only f5. I don't know why it doesn't just say that in the first freaking place, but whatever.
Does anyone know of a way to do this without having to use function-f5 and just mapping it to plain old f5? As far as I can see the key is just sitting there unused..
