Cant scroll horizontally with mouse wheel in FF

I cant scroll horizontally in FF unter XP+SP3 by pressing the mouse wheel sideways. This is the same in FF 3.6 and 4.0 beta, while in IE 6.0 and in other MS programs (Explorer, Word, ...) it works fine. I am having this problem with 2 different mice: Fujitsu 400NB and easytouch ET-9600. I cant find newer drivers for them than what I have installed from the CDs. Here some settings from my FF: mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action;0 mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines;1 mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.sysnumlines;true. Some time ago I played around with them but that didn't help. What else can I do to get FF scrolling horizontally?

I was trying to scroll left and right instead of Up and down.
I have created a site that extends long Horizonal.
Is there a code or way to do this in Muse so when a visitor comes thier mouse wheel will be horizonal scroll?

Scroll error with mouse wheel [SOLVED]

thought this only happened in firefox, but it happens in opera and konqueror
i did a fresh install of arch and it is updated. installed xorg and kde. i have used the firefox package from arch as well as installing from mozilla.com itself, same issue in firefox, but like i said it happens in other browsers and file managers
if i scroll down (towards me) its fine, but if i scroll up, i get the right click popup menu. in konq it is a little different as it places whatever i copied into the clipboard into the address bar as a web page

this didn't use to happen, but i cant remember when it started and what was updated when it did. also i do not notice this on other distros. i have also enabled emulate3buttons and added to zaxismapping to 4 5 6 7, no change. any ideas? it is a standard logitech wheel mouse.

ok so i modified my xorg.conf to include the following

i added the buttonmapping line from pclinuxos where my mouse works fine, but it was originally 1 2 3 6 7, i changed it to what is above to see if that worked, it did not. i have also tried explorerps/2, /dev/input/mouse, and 4 5 6 7 for zaxismapping and enabled and disabled emulate3buttons...all with no change
i have run xev and it seems that when i scroll up i get a buttonpress event on button 3 and button 4 with a release event for button 4
so from that it appears that when i scroll up it is also executing a right mouse click (button 3)
any ideas?

My laptop touchpad scroll is not working with firefox 4. It is wroking with other programs. When I attach a mouse then scroll works with mouse wheel. It is only not working with touchpad. It is/was working with firefox 3.6.x

I am using windows xp service pack 3 with Lenovo T60p.

I too have this problem, I have an Acer Aspire 7551G with an ALPS mutitouch touchpad. It works perfectly fine in every other program, and worked in Firefox 3.6. Scroll also works fine with a USB mouse. I tried downloading the 'latest' driver from the Acer support website, but when I tried to install it, it says that I am trying to install the same driver that I already have, so that fix isn't possible. I've only had the machine for 3 months, so I would imagine the drivers are pretty current.
I can't believe that this is a driver problem anyway, as I say, it works perfectly well in every other program, so it must be something wrong with Firefox. I was looking forward to using Firefox 4, but this problem is too annoying to put up with. Oh well, back to Chrome... at least until there is a fix found or implemented.

There is no out of the box solution to force horizontal scrolling with mouse wheel. However, you can add your own code to your Muse site after exporting it. These docs should be helpful :

Why am I unable to scroll through bookmarks with mouse wheel anymore?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Thx for that im gonna try it....but is there a way to do it without using toolbar or cmd-c...? i mean using only the mouse?why does it have to highlight the file even though i click a bit next to it....?using icon view i can right click next to the folder and i wont have a problem but with list view that i prefer using it will highlight the whole row.....and i dont find free space to right click cause i got many files

In all honesty though, even if fixing this kind of bug would create a new one, its not a bug that should be ignored. Its a major one imo (fix this bug and create a new one, I would personally take my chances). I remember after effects had a bug in a recent update, were audio always was set to low quality when you export, which was very annoying, and it wasn't fixed for months! This bug is worse, and happily I read this thread before updating so Im staying away for now, I hope it won't take months to fix this one.
It makes sense and Im really happy to hear a chunk of the AE team is working on optimizing the code.Though I think they should devote more people to that. AE is such an old program that I assume those working with keying or other of the features that have been updated lately, they bought a better plugin for it allready. I would much rather have NO updates for a year if that means the program would become more stable, faster and in the future they would not need to patch up layers and layers of old code, as you say....and from what I remember the response from the community was pretty much the same from every single one when it was asked in public what people wanted in the future updates....a faster program. THe content of AE is all ready great, and you can get plugins for pretty much everything you need...except optimization and an up to date software that uses the computer to the maximum potential.

Can i Scroll sideways with a wheel mouse?

If you have mouse software to program the mouse and the mouse has buttons you can assign for that purpose. Try SteerMouse (shareware.)

How can I scroll horizontally with my mouse?

I am using Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 6947 Build on 64 bit Windows 7 Pro SP1 and I can't get my mouse to scroll horizontally in code view or any view.
Looking/working with wrapped code is a no go for me.
I have tried using apps to solve the problem like Mouse Hunter and X-Mouse Button Control and neither one of them can get the horizontal scroll bar to move.
What is really driving me nutz is I didn't have this problem when I was using Dreamweaver CC ver 13.2 Build 6471 because Mouse Hunter would give me horizontal scroll I needed.
I really think this is a bug in Dreamweaver that needs to be fixed....

I am using windows 7 sp1 64bit with Dreamweaver CC 2014.1 (15.0.0.6947) and an application called MouseHunter which allows you to hold shift an use your Scroll-wheel to get horizontal scroll in codeview which doesn't work once I updated to CC 2014.1.
It use to work in CC but some how the CC 2014.1 update broke it too.
I have also tried using the program X Mouse Button Control by setting my mouse buttons 4 & 5 to scroll left and right or mouse wheel tilt left and right and nothing works....
In older versions of Dreamweaver CS3, CS4, CS5 and CS6 I could hold down the ALT key and use the Scroll-wheel to get horizontal scrolling.

I am using a Hp Pavilion entertainment PC laptop with a HP wireless mini mouse and the scroll wheel will not move the web pages up or down, works okay in IE9. I can use the keyboard to scroll and cursor click arrows okay, I really like the mouse wheel better. Thanks for your help.

Scroll with mouse wheel requires multiple "ticks" to start scrolling

I recently got a new mouse, and now when using firefox the scroll wheel doesn't want to work correctly. Everywhere else I can do single scroll ticks to scroll content, but in firefox a single tick scroll is just ignored as are multiple ticks if done somewhat slow. In order to get firefox to actually scroll with the mouse wheel I have to quickly do a few ticks at once. Doing so makes for very inaccurate control.
I've tried turning off smooth scroll, hardware acceleration, and pixel scroll, but none of those helped. Any help getting firefox to stop ignoring slow and single scroll ticks would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check the settings in the mouse driver software in case something has changed?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

Scrolling with mouse wheel in column browser starts from the start of the list

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else has been encountering this problem with iTunes.
Ever since updating to 10.5, whenever I use the mouse wheel to scroll in the column browser, it starts from the start of the list, regardless of which artist or album is highlighted.
For instance, I press the M key to jump to artists starting with M, then use the mouse wheel to scroll down the list, in iTunes 10.5 it jumps me back to the As.
The strange thing is that if I then use the mouse wheel to scroll down to the Cs, then jump down the list via a key press, mouse wheel scrolling will start me back to where I last scrolled (C).
How can I fix this problem?
I'm using iTunes 10.5.0.142 on Windows 7 Home Premium.

I can confirm the behaviour. It would seem iTunes is keeping a separate record of the position in the list for use by the scroll wheel, and then snapping to that before scrolling up or down a screenful. The same random jumps happen if you use the keyboard Page Up/Page Down commands and then use the mouse wheel.
I shall file a bug report.

Screen smooth scrolling with mouse wheel

I have a screen with a number of vertical sections that are initially all collapsed. After expending these sections the screen becomes too tall and I get a scroll bar on the right. Scrolling it by dragging a scroll bar has expected smooth scrolling but using the mouse wheel scrolls why too large portion of the screen.
Any idea what to look for?

No, I do not have other parts installed. I saw this behavior by others last week in the Safari forum here at Apple too. They wrote about this could be happend by using fast user switching and only Safari 4 was effected. But now, as I saw this after upgrading to Safari 4.0.2 in Aperture too, there should be a biger bug elsewere in the System or maybe Webkit?
