Cant sign into twitter

Question

on my ipad i have my wifes apple membership as the one that links to apple to download apps, so i downloaded twitter, now i am trying to sign into it with a twitter account i have that has nothing to do with the apple account i used to download the app onto the ipad
but that should not matter, right
so, on the ipad for some insane reason they will NOT allow you to use the email address affiliated with the account and password, you have to use your user name
ok, so do i put in the user name as it appears normally or do I do it the @ way all bunched together?
without giving away the twitter account, lets say the name is
What Shoes Do U Wanna Wear Today?
above is how it appears including the question mark, but the @ version is whatshoesdouwannaweartoday
and no ? mark, so which do I use as my username on ipad since it refuses to allow me to use email
i have tried it all ways, wont work, and i have used the correct password, so i am frustrated

Bump. I've got the same problem. It's a simple fix for HP, applying the OAuth registration from Twitter to get this working.
And it's a pretty glaring error for them not to fix. HP, your Touchsmarts don't have a lot of apps as it is. You really should get around to fixing one that comes packaged with the thing.
