Cant Update to iPhoto 9.2

I bought a new macbook pro in June with iLife 11 installed on it (which now has been upgraded to Lion, which I got for free because I bought it close to release fate). Now I would like to update so I can use photostream. But I can not install the update. Whenever I go to the system updates in preferences, it says no new software updates. When I go to the updates in iPhoto it "This version of iPhoto (9.1.5) is the current version." When I download a manual update from apple.com, I download it, extract it open iPhoto9.2Update.pkg and I get the error
"Alert. iPhoto 9.1.0 or later is required to install this update."
Why?? I want to fully use my iCloud!

If you are still experiencing the issue and:
cannot update from Software Update
cannot update from Mac App Store (incorrect account error)
cannot update using the manual installer
have not moved the iPhoto App out of the root of the Applications folder
Then try this taken from MacRumors forum thread which appears to work - did for me.

go to Applications folder - this assumes that the iPhoto app has not been moved from here as I have seen on other threads
select iPhoto app
right click/double tap and select Show Package Contents
open Contents folder
trash the _MASReceipt folder or the receipt file within (admin password required)
Run software update and iPhoto 9.2 will now show as available
But seeing as 9.2 seems to be buggy and crashing, mayhaps wait for another update as I am.
But you can trash the receipt and run software update to see if it shows. As a further test, I replaced the receipt and was back to no new update.

Hi IPODTIM,
First off you do not need to have the latest version of iPhoto. When you connect your iPod, you can go to the iPod prefs within iTunes and select a folder on your hard drive to sync your photos with. To do this, select all the photos you want to see on your iPod and export them to a new folder in your Pictures folder. Point itunes to that folder to sync with.
Next, iPhoto 2 was the last free version of iPhoto. You now have to buy the iLife suite that will include the latest iPhoto.

How old is your Mac? If it's very recent you need to update via the App Store
If you purchased at the App Store you need to update via the App Store
Otherwise you update via Softare Update
If you have moved iPhoto from the default location (i.e. into a Folder) then the updater won't find it. Move it back.
If you have renamed iPhoto, the updater won't find it. Change it back.

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

You must log in using the Apple ID that was used to set up the compter (or purchase the application if it was purchased later)
Assuming that you have some version of iPhoto '11 it should be available under the purchases tab
You can try trashing the iPhoto Application (do not empty the trash until everything is working ok) and then installing from the App store
If that is not working then you must contact App store suport - link is on the right of the App store window

Your iPhoto library should be intact - you can find it in your home directory in Pictures>iPhoto Library. Hold down the option key when you open iPhoto and you'll be prompted to select a Library. Select "iPhoto Library" and you should have your photos restored.

Ever since i installed mountain lion to my imac, I have not been able to update my iphoto. I keep getting software update alert, but when I go to update, I am asked to log into a hotmail account which does not belong to me, and which I obviously do not have a password to. I did not purchase the computer from someone Else or i i Would have knoen the password could be thèrs, Besides only iPhoto and i movie had that problem. Anyway,
Fortunately i was able to find a solution from a thread where someone asked the same question. I did what they Said, which was something to dó with spotlight, and Bingo it Worlked.

Cant find imovie, iphoto and the rest of ilife app

A few days ago I got my macbook pro (late 2011). I delivered it to the service and when i got it back I cant find imovie, iphoto, garage band that I had before i delivered it to the service. What has happend and how do I get these programs back?

Just bought a MacBook Pro 13" Retina for my wife (yesterday). Having the same issue, iPhoto wont install, says i need 8.2. But I cant update to that version. Tried the App Store, but it says this computer is not compatible with that OS (really). Tried the link above, and it wont install becauase it says there is not enough room on the harddrive. I love Apple products, but the last month everything is buggy. This is kind of the last straw for me. Please help.

No! 10.9.1 This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled. This is the message I get. Two apps that I am having problems with are iPhoto and iMovie. They came in this computer right out of the box. I have never been able to update iMovie because of this. This is crazy. I go to the iStore and do the password thing over and over and nothing. There are so many people trying to update at the same time that some will have difficulty. If you are running iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 and get the message that your software is up to date, simply try again a little later. I received this message for some time earlier this afternoon but on a subsequent check I was sent to the update page.

Cant update apps on my new imac 2012

have just received my new imac 2012 from apple store but cant update apps. keep getting message " To update this app. sign into the account you used to purchase it". These are preinstalled apps (pages, numbers, iphoto). have spoken to numerous people at apple support but no one can give me answer. this is totally ridiculous. Will I be obliged to return my imac to apple store because no one at apple can help me?

You need to associate the computer with an Apple ID in the App Store.
It's been a while since I had a new system but from memory all I had to do was to sign into the App Store with the Apple ID I wanted associate with the system, this ID will be needed for all future updates for all the pre-installed software. Once you sign in with the ID go to the Purchases page I believe that is where you will link the system and ID.

I can't update my iPhoto after upgrading to Maverick

I just upgraded to Mavericks and ever since, my iPhoto (v. 9.2) will not work. It has a grey circle with a line through it over the application. I do see in my app store I have an update for iPhoto 11, but when I try to upgrade it and enter my apple ID, I get this error message. I only have this one apple ID and password, so I have no idea why it is saying this. I am so scared I've lost my photos!!!

I do not understand this or what to do. I have not ever tried to purchase this previously.
