Caps Lock & Keyboard error - Satellite L50-A-1F2

Hi, everybody!
Can anyone help me solving these problems with caps lock key?
*1st problem:*
In my Toshiba Satellite L50-A-1F2 the led on the caps lock key is always on.
*2nd problem:*
I have made some test using MS Word:
when caps lock is not active, I can write without problems.
when caps lock is active, I have problems with some keys (all in the same "column"): 3, D, E, C.
When I press:
3: I get the symbol "-"
D: the cursor moves to the line below
E: I get the or the TM symbols; sometimes it activates Intel Graphic Panel
C: the cursor moves to the begin of the first line.
Thank you in advance for you help!

Usually the CAPS LOCK button function could be enabled and disabled pressing the same button once again.
If this isnt possible, Im afraid this could be a hardware problem.
But new Toshiba notebooks support special feature called special function key mode.
This mode allows you to use the FN keys without pressing the additional FN button.
I dont know if this mode could affect the CAPS LOCK functionality but its definitely worth a check.
However, I would recommend you to connect external keyboard and to check if the same CAPS LOCK problems would appear. In case the external USB keyboard would work properly, the CAPS LOCK issue is related to internal keyboard malfunction.

  • Caps lock keyboard no sound

I am a novice trying to learn Logic Pro 9. I have been following the initial instructions using Exploring Logic Pro. I am at the very begining and have been instructed to load cap lock keyboard after placing a software instrument. I click on a keynote but get no sound. I have looked elsewhere and have tried a suggestion to make sure that in Logic preferences//Audio and use I/built in output and built in input and to change buffer from 256 to 128. Still no sound. Any suggestions?

  • MIDI note delay / stagger using Caps Lock keyboard and 3rd party plugins

Whenever I am using any of the following plugins:
Waldorf PPG Wave, Waldorf D-Pole or Audio Damage Reverence,
with the respective plugin windows open, I can hit several notes on the Caps Lock keyboard simultaneously and some of them will trigger after the rest.
Interestingly, Reverence and D-Pole are effects, and so placing them on any audio instrument, including those that came with Logic, causes them to behave as PPG Wave always does when its plugin window is open.
The delay time seems to be variable.
When the plugin windows are closed, there is no delay.
As well, triggering many notes at once or notes in quick succession seems to cause things to stagger up more.
Sometimes the MIDI notes get stuck and continue playing until they are pushed again.
This seems strange to me, as CPU usage on the plugins is extremely low (the CPU meter does not even register a single mark).
The problem does NOT occur if I draw out a MIDI sequence that does precisely the sort of things that cause the holdups when I am using the Caps Lock keyboard.
Is the Caps Lock keyboard just not very good at certain things?
Why would this problem occur only with these specific plugins?
None of Logic's included plugins have this problem (unless of course I stick Reverence or D-Pole on them as an insert and open the Reverence window).
Naturally this is an inconvenience that can be worked around, but it is annoying.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hey Rob,
I opened up the Activity Monitor, and CPU usage in Logic Express is 35-40% with the plugin window open and between 16-20% with it closed.
That doesn't seem to be it, but your suggestion that the Caps Lock keyboard is probably just not good at handling many notes at once is definitely correct.
I plugged in a MIDI keyboard and the CPU usage is the same, but there is no staggering problem.
Perhaps there is something off with the CPU meter in Logic Express 7, though.
The Audio side registers activity, but the CPU side says nothing, when clearly the Activity Monitor has it right.
Anyway, thank you for answering my question--it is sort of an annoying little problem, but I just won't play fast with Caps Lock, I suppose.

  • Caps lock keyboard problem

    hi
when i try to use caps lock keyboard..eg by pressing caps lock, and you get that thing where you can play midi notes with your qwerty keyboard.
when i press one qwerty key, no sound, i only get sound when i keep one key pressed, and then press another. have tried with diff instruments, same problem.
is this a setting i have set by mistake?
i do recall playing about with my uc33 controller and possibly messed up the midi settings. not sure.
    can anyone help?
    thankyou

    can someone help please?
I opened up a new song, blank, and the caps lock keyboard worked fine.
seems to be a problem with older songs, which leads me to think maybe its a setting i have changed, ie when playing with uc33 midi contoller.
    thankyou

  • Caps Lock Keyboard Question

How do you keep the caps lock keyboard from adding piano sound sample to loaded plug-in sounds in tracks?
When I use the caps lock feature, I get a "generic" piano sound no matter what type of track is selected. I would like to restrict the output to loaded instruments in instrument tracks, but the piano always sounds along with them. Is there any way to disable this, i.e. silence the piano?
    Thanks in advance.

You're doing something wrong with your MIDI routing.
The caps lock keyboard simply sends a note to Logic, which gets passed through the environment and onto the selected track, rechannelised accordingly and sent to the instrument assigned to that track - exactly the same way other MIDI data is processed.
Check your environment cabling/routing, or the instrument you have selected.
If you don't know where to look, try opening a new fresh song (not one of your templates) by option-clicking on File -> New and trying the caps lock keyboard in that song..

  • Caps Lock Keyboard

    PROBLEM:
When i am using my caps lock keyboard i will play the bass drum where it is SUPPOSED to be and it wont sound. So i change the octave and so that it will sound. Then on playback it will play it back an octave higher. so instead of getting a bass drum i will get a tom or something else.
I have restarted LE7 and i have restarted my computer and even shut it down for 8 hours, came back, and it is still doing the same thing.
    G4 Powerbook 1.4   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

i can record my guitar and here it during both recording and playback. im using an onkyo usb preamp. its compatible with LE7 as it automatically recognized it.
Oh and thanks for the tip about opening drum kits, i usually just click inserts and go to garageband instruments but that exs24imlo-87645-op-zyut-a-1 works a whole lot better.
Also the more i play the song the more the drums start altering themselves. Like where i had the bass line it is now and octave lower. Ive went through the key commands thoroughly and tried to find some type of hotkey that i could have pressed on accident but alas, no solution.

  • Caps lock keyboard can't be hidden now?

Looks like the option to hide the annoying and useless caps lock keyboard has been taken away. Why would they do that? It's always in the way, and you really don't need to see it after the first or second time you use it.
Am I wrong, has that option just moved somewhere else? It just seems so ridiculous to take that away.

    Huh?
But then obviously you can't use the caps lock keyboard.
I'm talking about actually using the caps lock keyboard and not having it show. In Logic 7 there was an option to have it hidden when caps lock was engaged.

  • Caps Lock Keyboard having issues with certain notes and chords

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a weird issue when I'm using the caps lock keyboard on my macbook pro (running 10.6.2) with logic 8.
When I play certain chords, 1 or 2 of the notes don't sound.
It's almost like I'm having limited polyphony but in a random way.
It's happening on any instrument or plugin.
Sometimes only 3 of 4 notes are ringing out, sometimes 2 of 4, sometimes I can play a big 6 note chord and no notes drop out.
It's not the same note dropping out in multiple chords when it happens, sometimes in one chord a note won't ring out but in a different chord that same note will play fine.
But it's the same chords that give me the same issues every time.
I've already trashed the prefs file (com.apple.logic.pro.cs)
This only happens on my macbook pro on the internal keyboard. It doesn't happen on my desktop mac nor does it happen when I use an external keyboard on the macbook pro.
My Macbook Pro's keyboard functions fine in every other way.
Any Ideas? It's really driving me crazy.
    Thanks,
    Joe

There is a limit to the keyboard response in hardware - it's got better, but in older machines the keyboard processor could only handle about two or three key presses at once.
A qwerty keyboard is not a musical instrument - you cannot guarantee a decent, or quick response - I'd suggest you get a real keyboard if you are writing a piano concerto....

  • Caps Lock Keyboard "G" key causes hanging notes

When I use Logic Pro 8s Caps Lock Keyboard the "G" key causes hanging notes. The only way I've found to end the hanging note is to start and stop the sequencer. This behaviour happens when auditioning instrument sounds and in Record or Record Ready mode.
It's not a mechanical problem, as the "G" key doesn't cause multiple entries in text documents etc when pressed and released quickly. It only seems to be misbehaving inside of Logic itself, when using the Caps Lock Keyboard.
Is anyone else having this trouble?
Does anyone know why it happens and/or how to fix it?

    can someone help please?
I opened up a new song, blank, and the caps lock keyboard worked fine.
seems to be a problem with older songs, which leads me to think maybe its a setting i have changed, ie when playing with uc33 midi contoller.

  • Caps Lock Keyboard- Change default octave?

I'm surprised I didn't find a spot in the Preferences to choose which octave you want as default for the Caps Lock Keyboard. I know how to change it manually with the number keys, but since I'm usually messing with drums, I'd rather it default to Octave 1.
    Thanks,
    Dave

    45,
Thanks for weighing in. I suppose that Keyboard Maestro could pull it off, but on the other hand, if there is no actual pref for this, I can get used to using the number keys to change octaves (I'll have to hit one or two keys either way).
I wonder what the rational was for the default of Octave 2? Drums are typically Octave 1 and many other general presets default around Octave 3. Anyway, I can stop looking for a pref setting that isn't there.
    Thanks again,
    Dave

  • Caps Lock Keyboard- Increase viewing size?

I find the caps lock keyboard very convenient when dragging around my laptop without any additional hardware in tow. (It's perfect for quick little place-holder drum tracks.)
I searched, but couldn't find an answer... is there a way to have a larger view of the keyboard (without plugging in a 24" monitor)? The transparency slider is nice, but I'd rather have size manipulation.
    Thanks,
    Dave

I find the caps lock keyboard very convenient
    Same here.
is there a way to have a larger view of the keyboard
Using the OS X zoom feature (System Preferences > Universal Access > Seeing > Zoom), you could make it so big that it consumes your whole screen. This isn't as nice as being able to zoom only the keyboard window itself, but I don't think there's any way to do that.
You also might want to take a look at MidiKeys. It does not solve the zoom problem, and I generally find it less convenient than the Caps Lock keyboard, but you still might find it useful, for one reason or another.

  • Caps lock without sound - Satellite L30

Why can I not get my 'caps lock' to make ANY sound!? I have clicked 'Toggle Keys' and nothing happens. It doesn't matter whether the box is ticked or not ticked. This is a frustrating situation. I have a NEW L30 series laptop with MS Vista home edition.
    Grateful for any assistance.

I really do not understand what is frustrating there. As far as I know there is no standard Windows setting for that. Am I right or you thinking something like this can be enabled in standard Windows settings?
I am pretty sure for this option you need some third part software. Google a little bit around and maybe you will find some adequate application. I use notebooks and Windows OS almost 10 years but I have never heard about this option.

  • Keyboard error: Satellite L670D

    Hello,
Since 2 weeks I wasn't able to use the 0-button (zero) on the numeric side. All the other numbers work fine!
Is this a known issue? Did I turn off this button somewhere I didn't know?
    Thanks
    Bayman

I now notice that both usb-ports also are disabled. I think there's more going on with this notebook.
So testing an external keyboard wasn't possible. But your idea was good. :-)
I think it's best to bring it back and ask for repair.
    Thanks

  • Performance problem when using CAPS LOCK piano input

    Dear reader,
I'm very new to Logic and am running into a performance problem when using the CAPS LOCK-piano-keyboard for input of an instrument: when I'm not recording everything is fine and the program instantly responds on my keystrokes, but as soon as I go into record-mode there is sometimes a delay in the response-time (so I press a key and it takes up to half a second longer before the note is actually played).
Is there anything to do about this to improve performance (for example turning of certain features of the application), or should I never use the CAPS LOCK keyboard anyway and go straight for an external MIDI-keyboard?
    Thanks and regards,
