We have BB CE8 previously WebCt and I am trying to get the LMS to recognize the quiz I create in Captivate 5. I used SCORM to upload the quiz and it says that the upload was accpeted, but it doesn't show up in the gradebook.

  • Captivate (5) project won't open in Web Browser

    Hello,
    Since a few weeks I can't open my projects in the web browser. Accept one of the projects (only questionslides), i have been searching for differents in the setttings but i couldn't find any differtens. When I publish the project in a .swf still the project won't open.
    When I will get a preview in Web Browser or publish, the project is opening in the Web Browser and it looks like the project fade in and out in not even a second. A quick view of the background is visible . But i don't get any massage of error of something. And the page turn white.To preview the project in capitvate is no problem.
    I hope somebody could help me out.

    Hello,
    I do not know if you have Text Animations in your project? If yes, probably you are having issues due to the latest Flash Player. There is a hotfix to be found in this Captivate blog post:

  • Returning to Captivate SWF after clicking URL link

    How is this normally set up --
    A SWF published from Captivate is posted on a web site. The
    SWF has a button that opens a URL. How does the user normally
    return to the Captivate project after viewing that URL?

    Hi Jay
    Normally one would configure the object opening the URL
    (Button or Click Box typically) so that the URL opens in a new
    window. That way the user interacts with the URL and closes the
    window to return to the Captivate. Many of the later browsers will
    open a new tab instead of a new window. So they would close the
    tab.
    Also there is a setting for the Button or Click Box that you
    have to configure to allow the Captivate to remain paused. It's
    found in the same place you configure the new window. A button with
    a superimposed down arrow to the right of where you type the URL or
    file name.

  • Captivate Tracking in Authorware

    I am trying to track results to courses we are developing in
    Captivate. Since we do not have an LMS, we are trying to store data
    in an Access database. I have very little (alright, I have no)
    experience setting up Authorware with Access (and very little
    knowledge of Access). I have researched all of the threads on this
    site and the Captivate site and have reached a point where I need
    some assistance.
    I have been successful with the following:
    1. Set up a Login KO.
    2. Inserted a Captivate KO. I found a thread somewhere that
    shows how to view the interaction tracking on the screen within
    Authorware (kinda like using the trace option) and have this set up
    so I can see these results while I am taking the course, but
    obviously I don't want the end-user to see this information.
    And that is where I am lost. How do I capture the
    interactions from Captivate back to a database?
    It seems like it would be very simple but I can not find the
    answer or at least can't figure it out. I have tried the Captivate
    information posted on Adobe from Joe Ganci about the Captivate KO
    but he doesn't deliver how to track the results. I have also tried
    to review the Zip file from a previous post containing files from
    TAAC, Las Vegas. I didn't see what I am trying to achieve in these
    files.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Error when trying to install text-to-speech

    Hello,
    I have spent a good amount of time on this board as well as on the internet at large to try to find an answer to my issue.  I found the great Captivate movie posted in the forums to walk users through the install process of Captivate's text to speech, but I'm having a problem when I get to installing the executable file.
    When I double click on Captivate4_NeoSpeech.exe, I receive this error:
    The screen shot may be hard to read- the text is "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click on OK to terminate the application."
    I am suspecting that it has something to do with my computer set-up rather than the exe file, but I was hoping someone could help me out.  I am at a loss.
    I am running windows XP SP3.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
    Sarah

    Hi there
    Please take a moment and file a Bug report to Adobe. After you do this, you may find that someone on the Adobe team will contact you with more information. I'm not claiming it works in all cases, but you never know. Maybe they will come back to you with a suggestion. Certainly won't hurt to try.

  • Tracking Assessment Simulation with  SCORM 1.2 on LMS

    Good day
    I am using Captivate 3, and have managed to upload
    successfully onto SumTotal LMS. However i have a requirement to not
    only track on Quiz questions with SCORM 1.2 but to track an
    assessment simulation - for example let the learner click on the
    correct icon and type the correct text etc and then score that they
    have successfully completed the simulation. I noticed in the Quiz
    settings in Captivate 3 an option to "score interactions and quiz"
    How does this work?? Do i always have to include a quiz with SCORM
    settings before Capitvate generates the manifest file for it to
    work on an LMS??
    Any and all help much appreciated
    LMSAdminer

    In general... yes, you must set up scoring for each
    interaction, turn on SCORM reporting with the "Report interactions
    and the score" option and then republish the file. Captivate will
    then generate the correct manifest for that file.
    However, Captivate will *not* generate a multi-SCO manifest
    (a manifest grouping multiple files into a single course). That
    must be done in a 3rd-party tool, such as the Manifest Maker
    extension for Dreamweaver.
    A fairly comprehensive list of SCORM manifest-generating
    tools can be found here:
    List of
    SCORM-Generating Tools
    In addition, there can be issues getting SCORM to work with
    individual LMS products. If you search these forums, especially the
    Captivate eLearning forum, you'll find a number of posts on
    SumTotal. Hopefully, you can find some useful information that way.
    Also, a fellow Captivate user posted a tips document to the
    Captivate Developer Exchange that might make interesting reading
    for you:

    Captivate with SumTotal 7.2

    i just upgraded to Presentation Design 2011.  When i double click on the swf file that was generated druing the preview function, it will not open in my browser.  It says it is "initializing" but will not open.  i can open all swf files created with Presentation Design 2008.  any idea what has happened?

  • Best way to do software simulation

    Hey guys, it's taking me faaaaar too long to create my first software simulation and I wondered if I could get some advice? I arrived at captivate because I was initially using Screenflow, then AE to edit my captions/audio/intros and the large video files caused problems with previewing/rendering. I basically want to use captivate's screenshots and mouse paths to keep the file size down so I can easily work on some post production in flash. But... If I export to flash from captivate, the mouse clicks and motion paths are not recorded. If I 'publish' from captivate and import the swf into flash, it crashes Flash, even with the smallest clip. I've updated to the latest captivate version but same problems. What is the normal way to record and edit a screencast with captivate? Does anyone know why all data isn't exporting to flash? Do I HAVE to use captivate for post production and then export for the web?  Any info appreciated, thanks guys

    I have exported from Captivate to Flash with no issues, but that was a while ago (circa Captivate 3 or 4 obviously under Windows). As Lilybiri said, I can do most of what I want using Captivate alone. If you are having trouble exporting to flash or exporting to swf and importing to flash, give us more to go on. What version of Captivate, what OS, what version of Flash?
    What extra editing are you trying to do under Flash, perhaps we can recommend a workflow that keeps everything in Captivate?

  • Videos don't play when Captivate 6 project is posted to Web

    Hi all,
    I've read a lot of discussion of this problem but so far, not a solution.
    I'm working in Captivate 6.0.2.325 on Mac OS 10.6.8, and it's a .cptx file. It runs beautifully from my desktop, but when I post it to my website, it won't run the video segments. I receive the message "Connection Error."
    I changed the preferences as per Himanshu's suggestion of Oct. 14 and republished, but there was no improvement. Re his/her comment that I need to launch via the .htm file, not the .swf: I do launch from the .htm file from the desktop, but from the website I must link to the .swf. Linking to the .htm file does not work at all, the file does not open in the browser.
    Rod Ward made a comment, also on Oct. 14, to check with the system administrator about allowed MIME types. Unfortunately, I am the system administrator, and I don't know what a MIME type is. I would need more information to pursue that avenue, but not from the fire hose that opens by searching on "MIME type."
    In case it might be helpful, this is what the file contents look like in my file manager (Homestead SiteBuilder):
    Thank you for any suggestions! I'm really hoping to get this problem resolved by Wednesday PM, because when I present to the client it will have much more impact if they can open it on their own laptops.

    Hello Rakshi,
    It depends on the type of web-server you are using ,If your website depends on IIS server the you can add MIME type using the link below.
    http://www.iis.net/configreference/system.webserver/staticcontent/mimemap
    You can also test by uploading on SCORM Cloud  If it is an issue with Adobe Captivate output or it is related to some settings on your website.
    Regards
    Himanshu

  • What is the best practice to set Captivate variables from Get (less ideal) and Post (more ideal)?

    We are trying to set a couple of variables in Captivate 7 by posting the information from a URL. Is there a best practice for doing this, or does it require a custom JS or other call in order to do this?
    Essentially, we want to pass three variables from a URl to named variables in a Captivate 7 swf so that the information can be drawn from a database, and does not need to be entered by the user.
    Suggestions, thoughts, pointers to where we may be able to find this information - all would be greatly appreciated!

    Not sure how Captivate treats FlashVars internally, but the native html template includes a script to read URL parameters:
    var strURLFull = window.document.location.toString();
    var intTemp = strURLFull.indexOf("?");
    var strURLParams = "";
    then:
    if(strURLParams != "")
       so.addVariable("flashvars",strURLParams);
    It also has a script to add variables but you'd have to parse the variables first first to use it:
    so.addVariable("variable1", "value1");

  • Can we send pre-test score (Pre-test question slide) and post test score (Question slide) both in lms from captivate?

    can we send pre-test score (Pre-test question slide) and post test score (Question slide) both in lms from captivate?

    Pretest score normally is not sent to the LMS. However it is stored in a system variable, you could use JS to send it.

  • Error when posting captivate quiz results

    I would like to posting Captivate quiz results to Acrobat.com. I created an account, but when I click Post Results and log in, I get a 'Send' button option. When I select 'Send', the message 'Unknown Error' appears and the results do not get posted.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    I am also still having the same problem, so it looks like this still hasn't been fixed.
    Posting results worked fine but lately everyone is getting the unknown error which is embarrassing when you are pushing directors to complete this only to be told it isn't working and wasted their time.
    Sort it out Adobe!

  • Posting variables from Captivate 5

    Dear gurus,
    I would like to be able to post quiz and user variable data from Captivate 5.  I notice that the Cap. 5 has Javascript functionality but is there any way of referencing a lesson's variable data so that it can be posted out of Captivate?
    My goal is to post data to a server script which will then route the data to a database.  I realise there is the new alternate results feature but I can't use php in my workplace.  I also can't use an LMS for the recording of data.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Best wishes,
    Mister Gee

    So I keep working with it, trying to get the data from the POST. I've tried using a very rudimentary method of checking to see if I'm able to get the variables, but for some reason, I'm not able to.  Here's a snippet of what I'm doing just to see if I'm getting the values. Once I'm able to write the values to the text file, I'll be able to move forward.
    <%
    dim fs,f
    set fs=Server.CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
    dataString = request.form("dataString")
    CompanyName = request.form("CompanyName")
    DepartmentName = request.form("DepartmentName")
    CourseName = request.Form("CourseName")
    Filename = request.Form("Filename")
    Filedata = request.Form("Filedata")
    If NOT fs.FolderExists("D:\Hac_userdata\QWDweb\elearning\CaptivateResults\") then
      fs.CreateFolder("D:\Hac_userdata\QWDweb\elearning\CaptivateResults\")
    Else
    End If
    set f=fs.OpenTextFile("D:\Hac_userdata\QWDweb\elearning\CaptivateResults\test.txt", 8, true)
    f.WriteLine("( " & DepartmentName & " )" & " " & now())
    f.close
    set f=nothing
    Set fs=Nothing
    %>

  • How do I post a Captivate 7 project in a Wordpress site?

    I work for a school district that uses Moodle so posting my projects on our district site has been relatively easy. I have my own site hosted by Siteground and I use Wordpress to develop the site and I want to post projects there also.
    I can't seem to figure out how to post my Captivate 7 projects to my personal site.
    When I try to load projects as SWF files I get a notificaiton that says, "Due to security issues, you are not able to load SWF files to this this site."
    I want to load HTML5 files so Mac users can view and interact with the project but I can't figure this out.
    I have a Lynda.com memebership but this doesn't seem to be covered on any of the tutorials - Or, I haven't found it yet.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Tom Hanninen

    Thanks for the link. I like your plugin but I have a concern that you may be able to address. I saw this message on your site:
    My skill with Wordpress is VERY little. I am using Siteground as the host and I don't really understand how to access files on the site. Basically I can change the appearance, add pages, add content, etc., but I don't know what a php.ini file is and would have no idea how to manipulate that. If I got that error would the people at Siteground or at Wordpress be able to fix that easily?
    I ask this because I have tried to use certain plugins and couldn't get them to work. I have no problem spending the money on your plugin since it appears to work VERY well but I don't want to spend the money then not be able to use it because I don't understand how to manipulate files on Wordpress.
    Again, thanks for the link.
