Captivate to create web site?

I'm considering using Captivate to create a web site. Has
anyone done this with success? If so, I'd love to hear about any
learnings or caveats you may have.

I'm sure you
could use Captivate to create a web site, my question is
why would you want to? I'm not claiming it's not up to the
task. I'm sure if that's your goal, you may certainly do that. But
from a personal standpoint, I'd never create any web site based
totally off a Flash output. I suppose one caveat would be that you
are locking yourself into a situation where a user absolutely has
to have a browser equipped with ability to play Flash content in
order to see your site. Yeah, most are already that way, but
still...

If you want to migrate your MobileMe account to iCloud you do so at http://me.com/move . You will need Lion 10.7.2 on your Mac to be able to use its facilities. Your calendars, contacts, bookmarks and email will be moved to iCloud.
Your iDisk, including website hosting and Gallery, will be unaffected and can still be accessed as before, though the migration process will probably sign you out in System Preferences>MobileMe and you will need to sign in again there.
You will continue to be able to use your iWeb site as before. As you say, this will cease at the end of June. This page examines some alternatives:

I have successfully installed TSF 2013 on my Windows8.1 laptop and have successfully also passed through the first of the configuration process but on reaching the last phase I had this error which says cannot create web sites. Please help.

Good videos, websites, books, on creating web sites using full CS5?

Hi all, I just got CS5 (yeah!!!). I'd like to start creating web sites. I've used older versions of Dreamweaver to make simple sites. But I'd like to get a feel for the whole suite, to make full use of everything. Any pointers greatly appreciated!!

My GoDaddy hosted, iweb created web site will not open flash

Hello,
I'll try to be thorough:
I created a site with iWeb - It is band site.
I uploaded/published the site to godaddy.com, along with my URL www.momsgreatweed.com
If I access the URL from the Mac on which I created the site, it works fine, in SAFARI only (not firefox) even after having emptied the cache.
On all other computers (Mac and PC) I cannot open the "Tunes" page, which has a flash player and 10 mp3 files.
I receive the following error:
To view this page, you must log into area "me.com" on idisk.mac.com:80
Needless to say, this is making me slightly insane. I can't possibly be the only person to ever experience this issue. I did call GoDaddy "tech support"; but a 30 minute call turned out to be useless.
Please, before I pull my hair out...any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Learning: Creating Web Sites Upgrade and/or On-Line course?

I am determined to learn how to create web pages/sites.
Does anyone know of an 'on-line' course, having trouble finding one?
I have CS3 Extended, should I stick with this and buy a "Web Site for Dummies" book, or is there a better alternative? Happy to buy upgrade or other software if necessary.

I am unable to open my iWeb-created web site, for which I have a backup.

My web site is online and I want to access it to make changes. It does not appear when I open iweb, but I have a backup copy on my desktop. When I move backup onto icon for iweb, it doesn't open it. How can I open it again? Since my last opening of it, I've installed the new OS-X software - 10.9
I'm not very computer literate, but I did download the file:

iWeb has no import facility, so is unable to open any published website at all.
All the data from your iWeb sites is stored in what is called your domain.sites files. These can be located under your User Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites. Find this file and double click it and iWeb will open it.
The User Library is hidden in Mavericks, so to display it you need to click on the Go menu at the top and then click the alt key and your User Library will then be displayed and then you need to go to Application Support and then iWeb and then you will find your domain.sites files from there.
If you can't find these files, then you are looking at re-building your site from scratch and there is no way in which you can alter your site because unfortunately the backup of your site that you need is your domain.sites files and not a published version - this is not good in iWeb because iWeb has no import facility so cannot open it.

You should already know if you're hosting with Go Daddy or if you are publising to MobileMe and "redirecting" your iDisk Web pages to the Go Daddy servers.

Unable to Create Website using "Create Web Site" action component in Release Management

Hi Team,
I am trying to use Release Management to Deploy my Website along with DB in staging servers.
I have set-up 2 Staging Servers SIT & UAT Both 2012 Servers with IIS 8.5 Configured.
Defined Release Path and Release template.
Deployment Sequence is something like this :
Deployment Sequence - Server Name - Create Folder - XCopy - Create Website - Configure Website
Build is successful, drops the output to Output folder and RM gets initiated with it's work.
It creates folders as mentioned in the "Create Folder" activity.
It copies the whole content from _PublishedWebsites to the mentioned location.
It gets stuck with the "Create Website" step.
Initially I have provided details as follows :
AppPoolName
IsPreloadEnabled
IsAutoStart
SiteName FabrikamSIT
PortNumber 80
PhysicalPath c:\FabrikamRM\WebSite\SIT
Later, I tried providing
AppPoolName DefaultAppPool
IsPreloadEnabled 1
IsAutoStart 1
SiteName FabrikamSIT
PortNumber 80
PhysicalPath c:\FabrikamRM\WebSite\SIT
Then also no luck.
Deployment gets rejected and the error that you can see when you hover the mouse is :
Task failed with the exit code -2146232576".
No much info available with this eror code in net also.
Any help in getting this simple site created is highly appreciated.

For the deployment sequence, you might need add the action of "create application pool" before creating a website.
Another method is check whether the build output can be deployed manually. If yes, then you can trobleshoot the problem in your deployment sequence and parameters. You can create the website manually and deploy your build output to the website. If you have
any other concerns about the deployment, you can also open a new thread in IIS forum for a better response.
If the issue persists, please elaborate more details about your scenario with sceenshots.

Just began playing around with iWeb, and so far, like it a lot. But I already have a published blog using iBlog. Can I import that existing blog? Do I just link to it?

You can't import your iBlog created blog into iWeb, but you can create a link to it from one of your iWeb pages.

I would like to create a list of MP3 files to download from a MUSE web site.

I have the honour of creating web site for our church.
We would like to publish the ministers sermons on the web (audio files to download).
How do I do this in Muse, or is it not possible and should use another web site creating software to do this?
Is there an add-on which I could purchase which would help?

Hi Ossydoc,
You can use Muse to create such a website. All you need to do is, create links in Muse for the sermons and select " link to File " in the hyperlink option and link to those Mp3 files.

Now, when you publish your site, Muse would automatically upload those files onto the server and the users would then be able to listen as well as download those sermons using the links on your site.

Flash Web Sites with Pages of Different Heights

The above link to the my latest class project. You'll notice on all but one of the site's pages that when you scroll down in your browser, that there's a big gap between the bottom of the content and the bottom of the browser. The exception is STORE.
Have I just stumbled on a "limitation" of creating web sites with Flash, in that the page with the tallest content will dictate how tall the stage is for the rest of the site?
I'm not even sure what I should be asking here: Is there some sort of work-around, or some entirely different way I should be working when using Flash and HTML/CSS together?
The only option I see right now is to create separate .swf files for each pages, and then embed them into their own HTML files.
LOL. Did I just answer my own question?

When you create a Flash swf file it has one stage size, and that stage size is whatever you make it.
Most people design a Flash site to fit within the browser window size and not have one that requires scrolling. In that scenario, if scrolling were necessary, the scrolling would be built into the swf and the browser scrolling would remain unaffected.
For a site that varies in height from page to page, it would be more likely to not create a Flash site, and instead create individual pages for each section.
So in a way you have kind of answered your own question. If you want to use Flash for the design and you want to have the different sections only scroll as much as necessary using the browser scroller, the easiest way to accomplish that is to have each page as a separate html page containing a separate swf file.
