Capture Sharpening & Lens Corrections- Does the order matter?

Okay, I think I understand the concept that all of the changes made in Lightroom are metadata edits, and so it does not matter what order you make changes to your image. So using the lightroom controls for sharpening and lens corrections (chromatic aberration, etc.) is just fine.
But what if you are doing your capture sharpening outside of lightroom, say using photokit sharpener in photoshop?
Does the use of the lens correction tools in lightroom negatively affect the capture sharpening done later in photoshop? Ideally I'd like to do all of the possible image adjustments in lightroom, without doing any sharpening, and then head over to photoshop for capture sharpening and any further photoshopping that is necessary.
But if I do lens correction changes in lightroom, will that cause a problem? Do I need to forego doing any lens correcting in lightroom if I am going to be doing capture sharpening in photoshop after the fact?
Thanks for the help.

I shoot in Raw. I only recently got Photokit Sharpener, so I am trying to work that in to my workflow, in which case I would turn off Lightroom's default sharpening.
I think I may be worried about something that isn't really a problem, but I had heard that when you adjust for chromatic aberrations, it adjusts the color channels, for example moving the red channel in relation to the blue channel, in order to eliminate the color fringing. If that is the case, then I was wondering whether sharpening applied outside of Lightroom would have to be applied after the chromatic aberration adjustments had been made or if it could be applied before without causing problems.
My current plan is to just apply the capture sharpening in Photoshop after all LR adjustments have been made, and hopefully that will work out fine.

Does it matter the order of first 2 tables? This question makes me really wonder. It's fairly easy to see how explain changes when using hints.
Your question indicates that you do not look at explain plans?
Then why are you asking about hints in the first place?
Using hints is something you do when you want to force a specific execution plan as part of some investigation, because you know something that the optimizer does no, or you have found a bug in the optimizert.
In all cases you know exactly what you are doing.
The /*+ ORDERED */ is all about you telling the optimizer to join the tables in the order you specified them in the from clause.
As to your original question, there exists a similar ORDERED_PREDICATES hint.

There are only two types of HDMI cables (standard and high speed - listen to all 1.2, 1.3 etc etc nonsense they will try to tell in the store) both types will work with the Apple TV.
The cable may be faulty though, have you got another to try, what exactly is happening.

  • Lens correction for the Canon Powershot G1x

When will Adobe offer lens correction for the Canon Powershot G1x in Lightroom?

It's now in the LR 4.3 release candidate
I installed the release candidate on a separate PC, found the lens profile file in the install folder and copied tge file to the appropriate folder in my 4.2 install.

  • Are there different lens corrections for the new and old Nikkor 80-400mm lenses?

Is there a different lens correction for the new NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED lens and the older NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D lens? The model number box under profile correction seems to make no distinction so it is hard to tell if the right lens is selcted. This would also be important in filtering the lens used so a comparison could be made of the results between the old and new. The EXIF data seems to make no distinction either. The newer model is great!
    Thanks!

The newer lens is definitely supported - came in with Lr 5.0.

  • Automatic Lens Correction in the Camera Raw Correction Panel not showing

I have just migrated my CS5 to another computer. However to my surprise II could not see automatic Lens Correction option in my Lens Correction Panel of Camera Raw as in then past. All i got was option for Chromatic Aberration etc.
How do I get the software to switch to Automatic Lens Correction in the Camera Raw Correction Panel?
    Thanks.

I hope it's just as simple as this:  Did you click on the little Profile tab?

  • Does the order of columns in an index matter?

    Hi,
I have a table having composite index, five columns. (col1,col2,col3,col4,col5)
Currently , my index is beginning with the column which having low distinct values and so on.
( in my case the first column have 1 distinct values due to functional behavior ). the second column have 3 distinct values , the third column have many distinct value ( half of the table).
There are many DML queries on this table with different clauses.
    Examples:
    query 1 : where col1 =val1 and col2 = val2
    query 2 : where (col3,col4) in ( select col1,col2 from another_table ) ( for this we can add col1 =val1 and col2 = val2)
My question is : what this best way to create index on this case ?
The order of columns on index depends on its distinct values?
    Thanks

  • HT4113 On the 6th passcode attemp entered correctly, does the attempts will revert to zero?and does it need to wait to see the result?

i tried one failed then its ok on the second , after that i try it again with wrong passcode then it appears back to one failed attemps which supposed to be the 2nd failed? Or if you input the correct passcode it will revert to zero automatically? Or there is any interval? If you failed for the 6th attempt does the only way to this is to restore form my macbook or pc where i backed up the phone? Thanks

Server side flows will also timed out when flows are needed by CSS. In your situation I see 3 possible options
    1. Increase flow timeout using "flow-timeout-multiplier number"
    or
    2. Use "flow permanent port1 "
It will prevent cleanup of the idle flows for specified port and will make these flows permanent. This can severly affect the scalibility as you may run out of available flows on the box. In order to reclaim these flows you can either manually (doing "no flow permanent port1" and then "flow permanent port1 " every night may be) remove these idle flows or can write a script to do that for you on CSS.
    or
    3. Add HeartBeat functionality in the application.

  • Why does the order of photos differ in a Photocast...?

Everytime I publish a Photocast, the photos are ordered differently than they are in the corresponding iPhoto album...
    Why is this?
How can I make the Photocast publish the photos in the same order they are in in the album...?
I'd imagine the ordering between the album and Photocast would be the same by default but it's not...
    Thanks...
    DUAL 2.7 G5 POWERMAC   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    VENAM1:
I believe it because once put on the server they are sorted alphanumerically. So, if you want to get the to the same order as in your album you'll have to rename the acutal files sequentially before posting. That can only be done by exporting from an album to the desktop using the export option of "Use Album Name". The reimport the new files and use them to make your Photocast.
The export will rename those files to album name-01.jpg, album-name-02.jpt, etc. These will be sorted correctly on the server.

  • Enable Profile (ACR) and Filter Lens Corrections does not recognize Lens

I did several searches and couldn't find this so it may be a new question. I'm running into it in both CS5 (Camera Raw and Filter > Lens Corrections) and Lightroom 3.3 (Develop- Enable Profile). I'm asking here since I figure if I can fix CS5, I'll know what to do in Lightroom.
I have a Canon 1D MK IV. ACR recognizes the camera and processes the raw file. I check updates and everything is current. With Enable Profile checked, some lenses like my 24-105 L are recognized but my 17-35 L seems to be a complete mystery to it. I'm assuming that this is due to a missing profile.
Am I correct in thinking that the process is, download, install and run the Adobe Profile downloader. If I do not find any hits for my lens, I am then in the spot of having to use the profile creator to build one (or go without).?
Are there any other sources for camera / lens profiles that can be imported into the enable profile process?
Once you have a new profile where do you store it?   under Users> Owner > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Lens Correction ?
    Thanks
    Rick

Just to make sure:  Have specifically checked to ensure you have the latest Camera Raw update (6.3)?  I know you said you checked updates, but it never hurts to do a Help - About Plug-in... in Photoshop and double check.

  • Captured analog video, where does the actual captured file go?

I am backing up old analog video 8 tapes to digital, using a Canopus ADVC-55 converter. The process is going just fine as far as I can tell, but I am sure I will have more questions as I get into this further. I am using FCP 6.04.
As an initial test, I completed a Capture Now (non-controllable device selected) of a short 30 min. analog tape, using an older video 8 Sony Handicam, running through the Canopus interfacing with FCP. Primarily I want to run through all these old tapes (about 15 of them…) and back them up onto a dedicated Iomega external firewire drive, to retrieve for later use.
Question du jour… Where the heck is the actual data file on the hard drive? Isn’t the file I see in the bin, from a result of the capture, just an alias pointing to the actual captured data file? The FCP document is only 24 KB, but I know the data file is much larger. I have searched the drive high and low but cannot locate it… Can anyone answer this? Also, I’ve read in discussions here about doing transfer to DV (I have a Canon digital camcorder I could use) rather than the hard drive… but if this is for backup purposes only, should that matter? And wouldn’t I lose a step of quality that way?

I understand Kevan. For the time being, all I wanted to do was get these old 8 mm tapes backed up to digital format because I am afraid the tapes will degrade. They are about 12 years old. I also have some VHS cassettes that are much older that I plan to back up also.
Eventually I would like to build some family movies and will use these files, but if you think I should be capturing into DV (I can use my Canon DV camcorder I guess) I will do that instead.
Also, I will go ahead and define the folder so I can find the files more easily in the future.
I sure appreciate that you are taking the time to answer these questions, thanks again.

  • Does the keyboard matter?

I have a 1.33 Ghz G4 12". One of my keys broke off(along with the hinges) and I want to replace the whole keyboard. I'm getting very different information on whether or not which keyboard is compatible. Does it matter what keyboard I buy, as long as it was a g4 12" model, or I do have to look for 1.33 Ghz model version.
Apples website just says a full 78 key.
I want to purchase mine on ebay. What questions should I ask for if it does matter which keyboard to buy.
    Thank You Very Much.

    Hi Jodddo,
powerbookmedic says that all 12" powerbooks used the same keyboard.
