Capturing errors in Biztalk 2010

I'm pretty clear on how to catch errors by setting "routing for failed messages" and using the ErrorReport properties in the filter of a send port. However, I'm testing a solution by creating a file that contains a bad claim. It creates an error
in the Event Log when it is dropped, but the port is not picking up the message. The claim errors out due to a missing required element, so I'm assuming the error is created at the schema level. Does that have anything to do me not being able to capture it?
My filter is:
ErrorReport.ReceivePortName
==
HS837P_Incoming
And
ErrorReport.ErrorType
==
FailedMessage
[EDIT] Another thing I just noticed is that the message is not getting suspended. Maybe that means that the ErrorReport properties are not getting set.

There is one other issue that comes up after I enable EDI Validation. I am now able to capture the messasge and write it out to a folder. however, I really need to write it out in the same format that I received it. That is X12. However, if I use a pipeline
with an EDI Assembler it will fail because it was a bad file to begin with. The only way I'm able to write it out is with XMLTransmit or Passthrough, which means an XML file. How can I write it out in the same format in which it came in?

I have compared the UAT and Production servers AS2 receive URL configurations and these are completely alike.
Whenever I try browsing the virtual directory setup for AS2 from IIS 7.0 or from
internet explorer with hostname and virtual directory, I get 500.0 internal error which following post says is absolutely fine, this should not be a problem.

Please Note: We have setup other virtual directories for receive HTTP connection using (BTSHTTPReceive.dll) file and these connections has been setup using same user account and are working perfectly fine.

RNDisAssembler issue in Biztalk 2010 or 2009 accelerator for RosettaNet

We are receiving 3C3 PIP messages from a traing partner. But from time to time, below error pops out.

It's just once in a while. And I can't see any perceptible exception in the problematic message. This is so weird. I would assume it's a bug of Biztalk. Please refer to the post

Duplicate File issue using FTP adapter - BizTalk 2010

Hi We encountered an Issue of picking Duplicate files in BizTalk 2010 from the FTP Location. Need your assistance on this.
Mainframe sends multiple files a 0 KB file to FTP and BizTalk picks during a particular service window using FTP Adapter.
Receive Location has a pipeline component which decodes the MF file(EBCDICRow format).
Send Port transmits the file which is decoded in the Receive location. There is no mapping or orchestration involved.
When 2 files are placed in FTP Location. BizTalk Transmits the files successfully
No suspended messages in BizTalk but we see below error in event log. we tried reproduce the issue but no luck.

There could be two reason for such a behavior:
1) Using Non-Clustered Hosts: It is always recommended to use the clustered host for FTP adapter. Because FTP don't allow
any locking mechanism on the files so in case of non-clustered with multiple host instances you might receive same file multiple times through different host instances.
2) If the original document is still being written to the FTP server by the host application, the FTP adapter cannot
delete the document and will retrieve another copy of the document at the next polling interval that is configured for the receive location. This behavior causes document duplication to occur.
Workaround could be:
Configure the host application to write to a temporary folder on the same hard disk as the public FTP folder and to periodically move the contents of the temporary folder
to the FTP folder. The temporary folder should be on the same hard disk as the public FTP folder to make sure that the move operation is atomic. An atomic operation is an operation that is functionally indivisible. If you write data to the public FTP folder
by using the BizTalk Server FTP adapter, you can do this by specifying a Temporary Folder property in the FTP Transport Properties dialog box when you configure a send port. If you specify a Temporary Folder property, make sure that this folder is on the same
physical disk as the public FTP folder.
Configure the FTP receive location to operate within a service window when the host application is not writing data to the FTP server. You can specify the service window
when you configure the receive location properties.

How to define the character set of an outbound EDI batch in BizTalk 2010?

I have some EDIFACT files with a character set of UNOC though lowercase strings and umlaute should be allowed. These files should be batched in an outbound EDIFACT file. But the batching orchestration of the related send port throws some validation errors.
If I convert the strings to uppercase characters everything's working fine. So it seems that the outbound batching orchestration uses the UNOA character set internally for the validation of the EDIFACT files...
How can I change the character set of the outbound batching orchestration in BizTalk 2010? No settings found regarding the character set of outbound batching orchestration in the party and agreement configuration so far. Thank you

BizTalk 2010 - WCF-Custom Adapter with sqlbinding - rror was encountered while attempting to transmit the message

BizTalk 2010 RTM version with SQL 2008 R2 .
An intermittent issue with the WCF-Custom adapter with sqlbinding, calling a SQL stored proc as below
Message gets suspended in BT Admin console with "An internal server error was encountered while attempting to transmit the message" .
Event log shows
A message sent to adapter "WCF-Custom" on send port "xxx" with URI "mssql://server/db?" is suspended. Error details: Unknown Error Description

I have applied the latest CU and have noticed the following issue.
BizTalk 2010 Enterprise Edition with BizTalk 2010 CU6 and CU3 for BizTalk Adapter Pack works fine , no issues noticed.
However ,
On a DEV VM ,BizTalk 2010 Developer Edition with BizTalk 2010 CU6 and CU3 for BizTalk Adapter Pack still gives the error mentioned in this post.
In addition Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack ,Microsoft BizTalk Adapter Pack(x64) & WCF LOB Adapter SDK are also installed .
Below is the Error message.

"The handle is invalid" error installing biztalk 2013 HL7 accelerator

I have installed Biztalk Server 2013 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 machine and Sql Server 2008 R2 SP1 but when i try to install the HL7 accelerator it fails with the error message "The
specified account "Domain\AccountName" is invalid. Error code: The handle is invalid."

we just got the BizTalk 2010 HL7 accelerator installed yesterday on two servers. We had to uninstall several Windows updates. We tried to pinpoint which updates are causing the problem, but were unable to narrow the list much. Along with the original 5 mentioned
earlier in the post here is a list of the other unpdates we uninstalled. All of these are very recent updates. It's a bit long, but it worked. Uninstalling these also worked for a friend of mine at another company this week.

BizTalk 2010 Business Rule Composer possible bug...

****Initially i thought of writing this request, but I figured out what is the issue***********
When I am trying to access the business rule composer from the developer machine where the SQL server is configured on a customer domain, I am unable to use the Business Rule Composer.
I am using runas /netonly /user:<user id> to run the business rule composer so that I can pass the customer domain credentials.
The network credentails are successfully sent to the SQL server and I could see all the databases in the business rule composer dropdown.
But when I try to connect, i get an error saying "MachineName value <server>\<instance>, <port> is invalid"
when I try the same connection from a machine which is within the SQL server's domain it connects successfully (But i still get above error message, but it connects)
It seems there is a bug in the business rule composer GUI! and its related to network issue.
my colleague who is on the domain, doesnt gets this error message and he could able to connect successfully.
not sure what is causing the issue. any insight?!
its nothing to do with the network, domain...all systems has same issue when i check the "Start server if it is stopped" checkbox on the open rule store dialague.
I wont get the same issue in my local machine installation (where everything is local installation), but my development server installation has this issue.
Please let me know if anyone has same issue and what is causing this error?! is it the user dont have access to start the sql service?!

Did this same configuration work on BizTalk 2009? Sorry, I had not tried this before.
I would be glad to report the issue on the BizTalk 2010 Connect site. I know someone else reported an issue with the Business Rule Composer although I am not aware of any changes made to this tool for the BizTalk 2010 release.

Part11.rar of the BizTalk 2010 Training Kit is corrupted

I've downloaded it about 5 times - two different browsers on 3 machines - the extract always fails on Part11.rar -- reduces the training kit to videos and powerpoints.. The VPC sure would be nice..
Any idea on who can fix this or how to report it?

I have configured BAM successfully and attempting to load excel add-in Microsoft 2010 64 bit

I have modifed the xla to use ptrsafe for declare but am getting compile error on setTime.. There has got be a better way to get plug-in to work without re-writing

Bryan as per this bug report the BAM Excel Add-in in BizTalk 2010 works only with 32 bit Excel, and doesn't work
with 64 bit Excel.

New line character (/n ) getting introduced in the response XML in Biztalk 2010

In one of our enviornment, we have started facing an issue that the response XML does not get structered correctly, hence when the response is finally redenered, there is a /n in the response fields. this is for all string fields that do not have data .
e.g.
If you see the sample below, FName field has data and hence is structered correctly, however HairColorCd does not have data.
The opening and closing tags of HairColorCd are on different lines when the xml response is opened in a text editor, and when opened in IE, there is a space. When the BizTalk (hosted as a WCF )responds to the caller application there appears a '/n ' in the
value of the field.
The correct value should have been null, i.e. ""
<FName>LISA</FName><HairColorCd>
    </HairColorCd><HairColorDesc>
    </HairColorDesc><EyeColorCd>
    </EyeColorCd><EyeColorDesc>
    </EyeColorDesc>

I have faced the same issue last weeks with BizTalk 2010. This happens with versions of BizTalk 2006R2+ and if you are loading the message using XML Document in some stage. So if that is the case, please check everytime you load the content of the
message using XMLDocument and do it this way:
Xmldoc= new System.Xml.XmlDocument();
Xmldoc.PreserveWhitespace=false;
Xmldoc.Load(CONTENT); // or Xmldoc.LoadXml(CONTENTAsSTRING)
Xmldoc.PreserveWhitespace=true;
YourBizTalkMessage=Xmldoc;
Do it in this sequence and your problem should be solved.

ASKB posting error, period 7 2010 is closed

Fo for the captioned issue , 2010 year is not closed .
When we are tring to close the same through AJAB, we are gettiing teh error, transactions not completely periodically posted.
I got the error '1000xxxx-xxx Depreciation not posted completely'
Now I tried to run ASKB .
I get teh error `period 7 2010 is not open`. Please let me know, how to handle this scenario.As we can no more open 2010 period.
How to ensure 2010 asset year close will be done.

Hello,
Please check the set-up of transaction OADB.
If you have areas assigned to GL indicator 2, 4, 5 and 6 this causes the error.
You need to temporarily set GL indicator for those Areas to 0. Then run AJAB. You will not encounter any more error regarding "not periodically posted". After you run AJAB, you may set the indicator back.

Capturing error records and messages in BDC ?

I am recording a infotype using BDC recording and I got successfull updation in recording.But I dont want the output message generated by BDC recording which is obtained by perform bdc_transaction using 'pa30' generated by recording.
I want to capture the success pernr values and its correponding messages in a seperate internal table.Then want to capture error pernr values and its messages in a seperate internal table.
Give me sample coding to fetch those values. Think that my internal table which contains pernr values for recording is int_0007.from this internal table I am recording values.Give me coding to collect success anf error pernr values and its messges in seperate internal table.

"Unable to read file" error in Excel 2010 when downloading .xls file from IE11

We have lots of reports that have links for our users to be able to download report results in Excel format. We accomplish this by using the Excel mime type in our .asp pages. Sporadically, we are seeing "Unable to read file" errors in Excel 2010
after choosing Open from the IE11 save dialog. Choosing Save/Save As and the file will open just fine.
Also, we can sometimes cause the error to occur more frequently by switching windows during the time when the file is downloading.
If the file is opened directly from /Temporary Internet Files then it opens just fine.

I found you replied in a similar thread, did you try the workaround (Reset the IE) that provided there? Did you change a browser to test?
Then, I suggest we use Process Monitor to do further troubleshooting. Please collect all the actions of IE.exe and Excel.exe, and check the if there are some
error message/code during you open XLS file from IE 11.

After the sending Mail with this attachments the second file (it's name partialy in Russian) received without this part name
(The non-english part of name is DISAPPEARS)
like this:
RussianFileName_.xml ( must be RussianFileName_РусскоеИмя.xml)
The NON-English part is DISAPPEARS!!!
And if i have file that doesn't have latin latters (non-english) at all than BizTalk SMTP Adapter change name
to default one like ATT41233.xml
I found this behaviour occur in other non-english languages also!!!
Unfortunately i'm not found any info about this

There is an option of the Multipart message that controls the filename and the charset used to control how the attachment is treated, including content-transfer encoding.
