Capturing problem on Adobe Premiere CS5

On a new Mac OS, I have to capture with Adobe premiere pro, a video on tape. The connection of the camera to the computer seems ok. My problem is that in capture window instead of seeing the video I capture, I see the images of the built-in camera of my Mac! During that time it seems that the computer captures images, but I don't find them. They don't appear on the project window nor on my project file. I would appreciate if you could help me to resolve this problem.

When I press the play button I see the timecode passing. I press at that
time the record botton and timecodes continue passing. When I press stop
button every thing stops. So I think that all those buttons work, but I
don't know why I don't find any recorded images an the project file or
project window.

Strange problem in adobe premiere cs5.5

some strange files started to appear next to my project files
please take a look I can't get rid of them - so far tried reinstalling the app though

1. Jim - No, the zip archive has nothing to do with them, the files appear everywhere in every folder where there's any premiere pro project opened
2. Harm
1. There was no hang - I though of this (same happens with Microsoft Word for example). The files appear during normal work in PPro
2. Explorer simply deletes the files without any further questions.
I'll try to figure out if they appear regularly in time (like the autosave files) but what will that help,,,
If I open them they're regular working projects just as they were autosave files.

Distorted picture while editing MP4 file in Adobe Premiere CS5

hi,
I am trying to edit an MP4 file in the Adobe Premiere CS5 and having a distorted picture every few seconds.
When I am playing the original file using VLC or Media Player it looks OK.
Untill now I didn't have problems with editing MP4 files.
Did anybody had similar problem (and a solution )?

Not a problem; not scolding, just suggesting that users there might be of more help, since CS5/CS5.5 is a whole different animal than CS4.
I suspect that, if setting playback to full resolution didn't help, there's not much you can do with these files as they are. You'll have to convert them to something else. Does the break up appear when you step through the video frame by frame? If not, you could use AME to convert these to something else, which will then let you edit a little more effectively in Premiere Pro.
EDIT: Sorry, missed that you said that exporting retained the blobs. In light of that, you'll have to look at a third-party converter to flip these. MPEG Streamclip for Windows might work.

Adobe Premiere CS5 and Open Directory users - Premiere fails to start

We have several class rooms with desktops that are configured for Open Directory.
When a student logs in he's actually working in his home folder on the server and his user is also managed by the server.
This works fine for all the applications that we're using except for Adobe Premiere CS5 and Adobe After Effects CS5. Whenever a student tries to start one of them the application will hang and only a force quit can stop it. It is impossible to start these applications.
However, it is possible to use Premiere and After Effects using a local standard on the desktops. But I don't want to go that route. I want the managed users to be able to use those applications.
Has anyone found a solution for this?
Are you able to use this applications in a same environment?
I've played a lot with the permissions on the library, system and Adobe folders, but the problem doesn't seem to be related to them.
Setup:
AFP Server: Xserve intel running Mac OS X Server 10.6.5
OD Servers: Mac Mini Servers running Mac OS X Server 10.6.5
Clients: iMacs intel running Mac OS X 10.6.6

Safe Mode disables a lot of drivers and services, like networking. That would seem to indicate that something is running on your system that interferes somehow.
I'm just not sure how you'd go about tracking that down.

Capture issues in Adobe Premiere Elements 11

I'm using a Sony DCR-HC40 NTSC DV camera conneted to my computer by an Arcsoft EZCap USB video grabber. Whenever I try to capture footage with it, the image is distorted, with a messed up bar of colored lines at the bottom of the picture. Even if I change the project presets to the correct camera settings, it doesn't solve the problem. The camera has a frame size of 640x480 with a pixel aspect ratio of 1.0, but when I look at the properties of the captured images, it says that it is 720x480 with a pixel aspect ratio of .9091. I should mention that the camera and EZCap work fine with my StopMotionPro program, and that when I import pictures from those folders into Adobe Premiere 11, those pictures are OK too. The problem happens only when I try to capture directly in Adobe Premiere. Please Help!

Thank for the follow up.
Go firewire all the way. The adapter ia not know to work.
Open Premiere Elements 11 to the Expert workspace and set the project preset in accord with the DV 4:3 or 16:9 OR HDV camera setting.
Do this manually before you go to Add Media/DV Camcorder or HDV Camcorder.
Expert workspace File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings
In Change Settings, set for
NTSC DV Standard
or
NTSC DV Widescreen
or
NTSC HDV HDV 1080i30
or
the PAL counterparts, depending on your area setup.
Before you exit that area, in the new project dialog, make sure to have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Settings on This Project".
When you get back in the Expert workspace, then Add Media/DV Camcorder or Add Media/HDV Camcorder and proceed.
Please review and consider and then we can discuss this further in the morning.

Windows edited/saved project crashing on mac (adobe premiere cs5)

i really hope you can help.
i have edited video files on adobe premiere cs5 on a windows 7 machine and saved the project ffiles on an external drive formy friend to colour grade and finalise etc
he can open the video files in adobe premiere, but its crashing his mac system and some video files arent opening
he says he has all the latest codec files but it has gone to the extent of the files crashing his system and it won't boot..
my files were a mixture of mpeg and avi files...
is there anything that can be causing this problem.

Welll you wont be able to if you do not have the computer anymore.
Do a search on EDLs in Premiere (or any NLE) so you know about them for next time.
Whatever...I suspect the issue is at your colleagues end and needs to be sorted there. Someone with a Mac may chime in on how PPRO win project files and PPro Mac project files work.

.FCP files in Adobe Premiere CS5

I'm using Adobe Premiere CS5 at work - on a PC. I just got several hours of video footage that's been captured in Final Cut Pro. The footage is in the .FCP format and need to be imported into Adobe Premiere CS5. what is the easiest way of doing this?
Is it possible to import .FCP files directly into Premiere?

A .FCP file is not footage; it's a Final Cut Pro project file. There is no way to import that file directly into Premiere. Instead, the project will have to be exported as a Final Cut Pro XML document from FCP--any computer with FCP can do this, so all you have to do is email the FCP file to that individual, who can open it and export as an FCP XML document. When this is emailed back to you, you import it into Premiere as any other asset, and the XML document will be converted to a Premiere Pro project. You can then relink to the media you already have.

Adobe Premiere CS5.5 GOPRO HERO

Hi, I need your help. I'm trying to import a GOPRO HERO movie to Adobe premiere CS5.5. It imports the file, but when I click it twice to open it in the source monitor the software hangs and closes. I think it's a mp4 file: 1920x1080p / 25fps. Another problems: I want to import about 300 JPG pictures to make a time lapse movie: it happens the same! The software hangs and closes: the pictures are 2592x1944 pixels: what am I supposed to do? Thanks a lot.

In fact my software was hanging due to my sli system; I turned it off, now it is working perfectly! You know that it's impossible importing still images as an image sequence to Ad. premiere, you can do this with Af. Effects only. To make a movie with the still images, I have done the following...
The JPEG pictures are 2592x1944 pixels, so I created a sequence with resolution close to this...

I went to preferences > general > I Changed each still image defaullt duration to 1 frame as you can see in the link below.

See in the last link? Each stil image / frame lasts 5 seconds! I have to select all of them and changing its duration to 00;00;00;01. It works, but it takes a lot! How could I make my life more simple?

Does Adobe Premiere CS5 for Mac support .m2ts (AVCHD) video?

I am trying to import video files encoded into the .m2ts (AVCHD) format into Adobe Premiere CS5 on my Mac. Does the Mac version of Premiere CS5 support .m2ts (AVCHD) video formats? I am currently testing this with the trial before I get this new version for the Mac. Could using trial be the problem that even CS5 Premiere doesn't open it on my Mac? Do I need the full version? Nikon CoolPix P7000 and Adobe Premiere CS5.5

Just purchased Adobe Premiere CS5.5 and want to hook up my Nikon CoolPix P7000 camera to import video. Any advice related to this camera in particular or cameras in general and capturing video to Premiere would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Kyle

Capturing is only possible over firewire from tape based cameras. Your material needs to be imported, after you have copied all the data from your card to harddisk, including the complete directory structure.

Problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 11

After adding any the timeline material ( pictures or music or video) , 2-3 seconds hanging.
Then closes without any notification.
This program gave me a friend, not for need. He used it to me.
By not knowing at first I installed a Pr, and then my friend temporarily deactivate the license .
In the "Help" menu is available only " Deactivate" ...
It is a problem with the activation or something else?

How do I get my Adobe Premiere CS5.5 workspace to work

I am having trouble getting my workspace in Adobe Premiere CS5.5 to open up. Nothing works and I cannot figure out why. Can anyone help? I have tried to reinstall the program and resesting the workspace and it did not help.

Problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 10 : error DW046

Dear community members,
I have bought Adobe Premiere Elements 10 and installed it from the DVDs on my MAC OSX10.5.8 on december 27, 2013
When creating a new project , I get the following message :
following a serious error, Premiere Elements 10 must stop
Then I click OK and I get a new message :
The Premiere 10 application has closed suddenly after having been rebooted
Then I end up to the error report window. I have sent the error report to Apple ( I can send it to you if you want)
I have also got the following error message :
DW046 : following conflicting process were running, block : dynamiclinkmanager
Notice : it seems this problem is occuring since I underwent a power failure while working on a project. When I want to open an existing project I get the following message :
it seems that Premiere Elements has closed in an unexpected way during the last session. Do you want to open the previous project?
When I say YES, I save it and it comes back to the welcome menu and I cannot see this project.
I have tried to deinstall and reinstall Premiere 10 : this is impossible since I am required to deactivate dynamiclinkmanager that I cannot find.
Notice that Adobe AIR is unable to find a solution whilst it recognizes there is a problem.

When you get the message
it seems that Premiere Elements has closed in an unexpected way during the last session. Do you want to open the previous project?
Do you go to the last AutoSave to open that or do you go to the save location of the project file (project.prel) to open that file?
Are you getting message to close the dynamiclinkmanager so that you can move forward?

Problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 12 using Scary Halloween template

I'm having a problem with Adobe Premiere Elements 12 using Scary Halloween template under Menu Theme. My problem is the red line is default to Scenes. I would like it to default to Play. How can I do that? Is it a bug?

No bug. Just the way the .psd for the Scary Halloween template was put together.
You are going to have to get into the .psd for the Scary Halloween template and rearrange the
Layer Sets. Do you know how to do that? If not, I will give you very specific instructions on how to
do that.
You want the order of the Layer Sets to look like
That is what worked for me just now to get the disc menu Preview to open to the main
menu with the red highlight under Play.
