Capturing User Id and Time

I need to keep track of the user ID and Time for the data entered through a web interface.
Please suggest the way to achieve this.

I haven't done a lot of work with time zones, but I have some ideas that just
may work. If it is important for this object to pass in and out of time-zones

Is there any way to track users on our xserve quad xeon...such as login date and times?

What services are you interested in keeping track of? AFP, for instance, logging can be set to monitor anything from login/out times to file actions.
You would need to parse the log data in some way if you were looking to make a regular report or something like that, but that's true of about any log file you want to investigate. It largely depends on what service(s) you want to monitor and how detailed their logging is, but a lot of stuff is or can be logged.
If you are more specific there may be more detailed help people can provide.

Capturing User Action and populating Standard table

Hi Friends ,
I have a requirement , its a classical report and in that based on the user action ( if the user checks a check box that is available in the output screen of the report and saves it) the value should be updated in a standard table as 'X'. I have appended the field in the standard table and now i need to write a logic at user command to populate the zfield that i have added in the table based on the user's input.
I need to capture the user's action into an internal table and then pass this value into a function module to update the standard table, Can someone suggest me how to proceed further on this issue ? Kindly let me know if you have any sample piece of code related to this scenario...

Unable to capture user comments and responder in RESPOND API

We are building a custom application that uses Oracle Workflow underneath. The application users and responsibilities have been integrated into Workflow. Notifications are acknowledged and responded to directly from the application using the PL/SQL Notification APIs.
When using the wf_notification.respond API with the appropriate user and comment information filled in, we are still unable to capture the responder information as well as the reponders comments. In other words, the RESPONDER and USER_COMMENT fields in the WF_NOTIFICATION is blank. However, the response does seem to go through otherwise. Do we need to set some kind of user context outside of just setting the response attributes and calling the respond API? Following is the code....

If you are on 11.5.10 or greater or standalone 2.6.4 if you pass the responder value to wf_notification.respond API it should be updated in wf_notifications.responder column. The comments is now updated in wf_comments table against the notification id and not wf_notifications.user_comment column.

There are substitution strings you can use for this purpose.
1.APP_USER ------is the current user running the application
2.SYSDATE --------represents the current date on the database server

Your application will be based on a table with primary key column. You create a 'before update trigger' on that table and add columns 'UPDATED_ON' and 'UPDATED_BY' to that table. Add the following to that trigger:

[Solved] Systemd user service and timer dbus error

I have installed arch recently and added a few of my own services, for example the acpi_call commands and such. Now I want to create a systemd service that runs every 5 minutes and execute a script.
I searched a lot and I found that I must use timers. I got the thing with the timers working, but because my script has to do with a specific user, I want it to run only every 5 minutes when i am logged in as that user.
I tried to put the files in /etc/systemd/users, .config/local/users and all the possibilities but everytime i want to enable it, it says dbus connection refused.
Can somebody please provide me a way to execute a systemd service every 5 minutes while I am logged in as a specific user?
I did follow the wiki and created a dbus service and all. Everything works on that side but i can't enable my user service.

sorry, didn't mean to be incomplete.
The error says "Failed to get D-Bus connection: Connection refused".
I did what the wiki said: Create the dbus files, enable them and such.
No i put my service files + timer in the places mentioned by the wiki but everytime i try to enable them, that error shows up.

Terminal App weird user change and time host

I've been changing between iTerm and the Terminal app. And this appears in both, so I'm a little confused. Every so often when my MacBook Pro has been on for so long, I open a new terminal, either app this still happens, and my user name disappears and my hostname changes to time. It's not consistent on when it decides to do this, I'm not sure what is going on. A reboot fixes it, but I'd like to know why it's happening in the first place. I've had this happen on my Mac Mini as well, and I've noticed it happening on Leopard, though I will admit, I wasn't using the terminal apps until Snow Leopard. Has anyone else come across this, and if so, any ideas on what is going on?

No opening a new terminal window doesn't fix it.
Just opened an iTerm and Terminal app window and they just did it. This is what it prints out:

time:~ username$
Here is also the output of echo $PS1 when the prompt is wrong:
time:~ username$ echo $PS1
\h:\W \u\$
Here is the output with the correct hostname:
LilPro:~ username$ echo $PS1
\h:\W \u\$
They look exactly the same. Something is temporarily changing my hostname until I reboot.

How to capture file modification date and time over the web

HI!
I am creating a web based application and I am using webutil package for al lot of my work being that I ma working with renamin,deleting and uploading files for a users machine to the database. There is one functionality thing that I have to do in this application that webutil does not take care of and that is capturing the modification date and time from a file on the users machine. Please help me capture the date and time of a file on the users machine.

Since webutil allows you to write file on client PC directory, then you first create a directive file, then host that directive file. the directive file content is just the command lines when you manually do it on PC.

Date and time stamp of user status does not appear

Hi, gurus.
For a specific transaction type, the date and time stamps for certain user statuses do not appear within the transaction although these missing date/time stamps are captured in the database upon checking by our ABAP. It seems that this problem started when I added several statuses and rearranged their status numbers in the status profile last year.
I'd also like to ask if it's really necessary that the statuses within the status profile and date profile should maintained in the same positions.
E.g.
Status Profile

Date Profile

We're going to create and assign a new status profile for the concerned transaction type. We'll make sure that this status profile is sychronized with the date profile. Hopefully, the date/time stamps will all be displayed in prospective transactions but the problem on the missing date/time stamps in historical transactions will still remain.

If you are using a SMP, yes, this is built-in functionality. The files are located in the location(s) specified on your SMP configuration. You'll also need the computer association that created them because it contains the encryption key.

I changed user account and now Time Machine won't back up.

A few months ago I had a problem with my user account. I can't remember the details but i think it would no longer accept my password. After doing some hunting around for answers i made a new user account with administrative priviledges and transferred all the files over to that account. I also changed the permissions on those files to allow me to access them as a new user identity. For the most part that seems to have worked for me, although possibly i have not done the right thing.
Anyway, i have just realised recently that although the little circular arrow that indicated that Time machine is backing up my files, it hasn't actually made a backup since the end of august, which was possibly when i did this funny thing with my user account.
I am assuming that Time Machine has just got very confused about the disappearance of my files from the previous user account and change of permissions etc.
What can i do? I read on 'pondini.org' that i could reset my time machine by deleting the preferences file from my system library and then rehooking up my external hard drive as the desired backup volume. It would then, i assume make a full backup to begin with?
Any advice gratefully received. I am a graphic designer and i do need to have my files backed up!

ps i had some extra RAM installed a little while before the user account problem and only mentioning it here in case that is an issue with Time Machine as well.

Firefox will not save my user name and password for one of my sites. How can I fix this problem. It is getting annoying having to reenter every time I check this site. Is there a solution.

I had my user name and password saved for my library site. My grandson hit something and now the saved user name and password are gone. It asks me every time to enter it and it is getting annoying. How do I fix this. I want Firefox to remember these codes.

You can create a bookmark with the JavaScript code via a right-click on the "Remember Password" link on the squarefree.com website and choose "Bookmark This Link" and select the "Bookmarks Toolbar" as the destination folder for easy access.

You need to use the "Remember Password" bookmarklet before or after filling the name and password field on the website with the <u>login form</u>, but before submitting the login form by clicking a button on the web page.
If the site is using autocomplete="off" then you see a number not equal to 0 (i.e. attributes were removed) in the pop-up alert from the bookmarklet and Firefox should offer to remember the name and password via a drop down dialog of the key icon that will appear on the location bar (Firefox 4+) or via an info bar at the top (Firefox 3).
