CDP Charactesristics Propagation using PDS

Hi Gurus,
My customer uses product variant and super recipe in ECC. I'm in the implementation phase and the customer wants to use CDP instead of VC.
In APO he is going to use Block Planning, super recipe and PDS. We have a classes type 400 and some characteristics to support block planning, super recipe and PP/DS scheduling rules. Some characteristics are the same for different levels (FERT and HALB) but the value are different.
Since we are using PDS all the characteristics will be considered in the propagation (pegging with characteristics), and the pegging will not be done because for the same characteristics the values are different between FERT and HALB.
How can we use this scenario but not use the pegging with characteristics? Is that possible?
Thanks for the attention

Hi,
As mentioned by you the following will be suitable to solve your problem:
1. Integration of Classes and characteristics:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/b3/12813b680c250fe10000000a114084/content.htm
2. Planning with characteristics
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/b1/947337e68ae526e10000009b38f889/frameset.htm
3. Dynamic Pagging(But you told not to use it) http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/de/d70f3a57b38c0fe10000000a11402f/content.htm
To influence which classes are to be created in SAP APO for CDP, you can use the BAdI Control Class Assignments for CDP with the method CDP_CLASSES_FILTER in Customizing under Advanced Planning and Optimization -->  Master Data --> Classification and Configuration  --> Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) for Classification and Configuration.

  • Principal Propagation Using Sender SOAP adapter in PI7.1

    Hi,
I am trying to configure principal propagation using SOAP sender adapter. In that, I am trying to generate the assertion ticket in SAP only but it is using PIAFUSER as the user that is being passed and not the user which we are using to logon.
Please tell me how an assertion ticket can be generated in this case , and the User that is being used for logging on is propagated. Is there any other way in which SOAP adapter can be used to propagate principally.

  • When I create a Planned order using PDS, the Setup time is coming as 0.

We have been using PPMs for a long time, and now we are trying to migrate to PDS.
We are currently in SCM 7.0.
I successfully created the PDS in APO (using CIF from R/3). In the PDS (in APO), for a particular activity, I see the  activity type is "S", and the Activity Duratiion (Fixed) is 43,200 Seconds.
However, when I create a planned order using this PDS, the activity time is zero (End time = Start Time).
When we use the PPM the setup time comes correctly.
    Any help will be appreciated..

    Senthil,
    Thanks for your views.
I have checked all that you have suggested, and it is okay. The issue still persists.
One thing that I noticed was that it is working fine in the old SCM 5.0 environment - the setup time is coming correctly in the planned order.
However, we have this issue in the new SCM 7.0 environment. Is there something that is different in SCM 7.0 in terms order explosion ?

  • What could cause no propagation using Roto Brush Tool?

Also is it allowed to use masking while using the Roto Brush tool?
Could the arrow colors be exacly the same as the gray of the background?
I have gotten it to work on some other projects.

Unlikely that you could tweak your UI brightness in such a way that it kills both grey tones at the same time, so this is a real issue of sorts. do you see any propagation status updated on teh info plaette? Please check that. If there is propagation, yet it does not show up in the viewer, it may be an issue with your footage. And no, you shouldn't use masks and RB at the same time. It may throw off RB completely. You would have to pre-compose or pre-render the RB layer and work based on that.

  • Content Propagation using Workflow

    Hi,
Is it possible to move content from one environment to another using Workflow? I need to move contents between three environments E1, E2 and E3. The content should be moved to E2, when the user selects "Ready" in the Workflow state. To E3 when the user selects "Publish". How this can be done? Is there anything generic available for this requirement? This requirement looks quite common.
Here is one approach that i thought of,
    1) Create Virtual repositories in E1 that points to E2 and E3. Move content as if you are moving between repositories.
Please validate and suggest new , if any.
    Thanks for your time.
    Regards,
    Blue

Is the requirement that when a Node changes status, it's actually moved from one environment to another? It needs to be deleted from the source repository and created in the new one? If so, you will lose the version history on each move since the Node's ID contains the Repository Name.
Assuming you're using WLP 9.2 or 10.0, there are 2 plug-in points you can look at to see if they can accomplish your specific requirements.
First, custom actions in the Workflow. In your workflow definition, you can define the series of actions to take upon a certain status transition. You could perhaps write an action class that performs your desired operations.
Secondly, look at providing an Event Listener that listens for ContentUpdateEvents. You can inspect the event to determine if it requires action by your Listener (ex, it's a check-in with status of "Ready") and, if so, execute your custom code.
But first, think about the issue with the Node's ID changing and make sure that this would be acceptable.

  • I/O CDP relevant input components in PDS with wrong quantity

    Dear Experts,
In my PDS, I  have 2 components which are I/O type CDP relevant input. Problem is that in the PDS, these CDP component quantities are wrong in comparison with quantities maintained in the R/3 BoM Master Recipe.
Components are classified with a class type 023 in R/3 - batch specific unit of measure, and product master is classified with a class type 400 (CDP classification) in APO.  Configuration schema is CDP in APO and as mentioned, I am using PDS instead of PPMs. Note that finish product, father, is not using any CDP class, it is only some of the components.
So problem is basically that the quantities are not right, it looks like it is not doing right the conversion of units of measure however for the non CDP components, it is doing it OK.
Component BoM quantity is 46 Kg and PDS component quantity is 46 BRL. Note that base unit of measure is BRL.
But  If  I check material master units of measure, I see that 1 BRL(Barrel) --> 1 BRL  and then  75Kg --> I  BRL (Barrel). Same for in the Product Master units of measure tab.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Carlos

    Hi,
Any clue of why components quantities are not being transferred right.

  • Difference between PDS and PPM and which one should be used for SNP /ppds?

    Hi Gurus,
Just wanted to know what are the difference between PDS and PPM ?
    1. For what industrial products we use PDS and PPM in SNP and PPDS?
    2. which one can be refered to clients?
Please let me know it will be really great if anyone let me know the answers
    Thanks & Regards,
    Raj

    Hi Rajkumar,
I have given below the detailed comparative account of PDS Vs PPM. Please copy and put it in an excel sheet in different columns and then read which is easy to understand.
    PDS
    1. Production Data Structure (PDS) in APO 3.1 & Run Time Object (RTO) in 4.0 and above versions
    2. Master Data Object
    3. Useful for scenarios where the compoenent has got different validity periods
    4. Used as Master data Basis for Planning in SAP-APO
    5. Contains active Master data from iPPE (Integrated Product and Process Engineering) generated from a production version
    6. PPDS PDS & SNP PDS can be used as master data for planning
    7. Change Management, variant configuration & Phantom assemplies are supported in PDS
    8. Sub-contracting in SNP is fully integrated with R/3 is supported in PDS
    9. Direct transfer of SNP PDS from R/3 is possible
10.Rapid Planning Matrix can be generated
    11. Not possible to maintain PDS directly in APO and can be used only in combination with R/3
    12. The transfer of data changes is simpler
    13. Not possible to create alternate SNP-PDS in std system for different mode combinations
    14. PDS can be automatically generated from two sources ie R/3 and iPPE
    PPM:-
    1. Production Process Model
    2. Master Data Object
    3. Cannot be used for scenarios where the component has got different validity period
    4. Used as Master data Basis for Planning in SAP-APO
    5. Contains active Master data generated from the combination of routing (BoM & receipe) and production versions
    6. PPDS PPM & SNP PPM's can be used as master data for planning
    7. Not supported by PPM
    8. Not supported by PPM
    9. Not possible here. SNP PPMs will be generated via PPDS PPMs
    10. Not possible
    11. PPMs can be directly created in APO and can be modified without R/3 also.
    12. Little Complex when compared to PDS
    13. Alternate SNP-PPMs can be easily created
    14. PPM can be generated automatically generated only from R/3
PDS is used in industries wherein there are multiple components or assemblies having diffeent production versions whose validity periods are different.  PPM is being used typically in process industries, chemical industries.  PPM is very simple in its usage and very flexible in operations in terms of modifications at APO level and can be referred to client depending on the business requirement

  • How cdp works?

    Hi there.
I just wondering that how cdp works in cisco switch and not cisco device.
cdp is propagated multicast 01:00:0c:cc:cc:cc(not sure) on all interface that supports SNAP.
    [diagram]
    SW1------SW2------SW3
    (cisco)   (cisco)    (cisco)
in this case, sw 1 sends cdp multicast to sw2 and sw2 receive this cdp. i think that may igmp snooping is enabled by default in all interface so sw2 receives this multicast and response that "i'm your neighbor" by some mechanism (i dont no) .and doesn't flood this mcast. so it doesn't cross two hops.
    sw1 ------------sw2--------sw3
    (cisco)     (not cisco)     (cisco)
and some case that sw2 is not cisco device and doesn't work with igmp snooping, it simply flood all interface. so i can see sw3 on sw1.
if i was correct, what if that sw2(not cisco) enables igmp sooping all links?
    Can i still see sw3 on sw1??
    Best regards.

    Hi,
CDP is a Cisco layer-2 proprietary protocol and does not work with other vendor's products. Some vendors like Juniper use LLDP instead of CDP to see their directly connected neighbors.  If you have a multi-vendor environment and your device support Standard LLDP, you can try enabling LLDP on Cisco devices to see their none-Cisco neighbors.
Cisco Discovery Protocol is a Layer 2, media-independent, and network-independent protocol that networking applications use to learn about nearby, directly connected devices. Cisco Discovery Protocol is enabled by default. Each device configured for Cisco Discovery Protocol advertises at least one address at which the device can receive messages and sends periodic advertisements (messages) to the well-known multicast address 01:00:0C:CC:CC:CC. Devices discover each other by listening at that address. They also listen to messages to learn when interfaces on other devices are up or go down.

  • Characteristics Dependent Planning - CDP

Can anybody please share some experiences on CDP ?
Is there any available best practices ?
What all modules need to be implemented in APO for this purpose ?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Chandru,
    1) Basically, CDP is widely used in PPDS module.
    2) Few best practices are;
       a) It requires correct master data information to be maintained in R/3 side for classes and characteristics.
       b) You can use CDP both for MTO and MTS scenarios
       c) Tight integration with R/3 is required to ensure smooth working of this functionality
       d) You can better prefer PPM rather than PDS for choosing source of supply due to its complexity.
    3) For further more informations, you can follow the below link

  • PI 7.4 Single Stack support for Principle Propagation SAML

    Hi Folks,
Que: Does the single stack now support Principle Propagation using SAML?
The posts I have read so far conclude that SAML is only supported on the dual stack, not the single stack.
SAP Help gives steps for dual stack: Configuring Principal Propagation (SAML) - SAP Help Portal
This post from 2013 concludes no support for SAML in the single stack: PI 7.31 AEX - Principal Propagation
My time would better spent looking for an alternative solution for Principal Propagation rather than chasing something which is not supported (SAML on single stack).
    Any help appreciated.

  • Can OpenMQ use SMTP as transport in a distributed setup?

    Hello all,
I am researching the usability of OpenMQ to provide messaging services to a number of J2EE
servers and clients distributed in a multi-segmented network (like central office and branch offices).
Deployment in each network segment is complete and looks like any other segment's deployment -
they all have GlassFish app servers, database and LDAP replicas, etc. We plan to connect some
GlassFish-deployed applications and user-interface clients with MQ services, with a broker and
each queue's instance deployed in each network segment.
So my first short question is: am I correct to assume that in order for OpenMQ instances to
pass messages between clients in different network segments, all of these instances should
be pre-configured as a single "conventional cluster"? Is this the only way? That is, there is no
such loose coupling as in email services "I've got a (spam) message for a random recipient
name, try to deliver it please"?
Second, can this be implemented as a multi-tier cluster? That is, "home brokers" in different
network segments are inter-connected as a conventional cluster (brokers with dedicated
datastores), but in fact these "home brokers" within a network segment are implemented
as an active-active cluster with a shared datastore (local to the segment). Can this be done?
Third, hard and titular question is: some of the network segments have no online IP
connection per system design, they are physically separated. There is a means of
SMTP transport between nodes in these segments, using offline techniques, though.
Can OpenMQ nodes exchange messages (client traffic and/or administrative traffic
like cluster config propagation), using SMTP/POP3/IMAP instead of online connections
    such as JMS/TCP or HTTP?
I have not found any indication of this approach in the documentation, except that GlassFish
appservers seem to be able to implement JAX-WS over SMTP as experimentally supported.
    Thanks,
    //Jim

Anyway, would splitting the two work and would it be easily achievable with existing tools in OS X?
Yes, you can use the 2nd HDD with Time Machine as your TM back up drive.
As long as you are able to format your new SSD and the HDD, you can use them independently. I would advise using Terminal and the diskutil commands to do this as Mountain Lion 10.8.3's GUI Disk Utility will see the SSD and HDD as needing to be "fixed" (drives marked in RED) and if you choose to FIX the drives your two drives will automatically be setup as a Fusion drive and all data on the drives will be lost.

  • PDS has input component twice, hance PReqs have two line items.

    Hi,
In a subcontracting scenario, we are using PDS at Vendor location with only one component. However, the PDS has two entries for the component. Hence, the PRqs created frpm the plant on vendor have two line items.
What could be a cause (setting) for the PDS to be created like this?
    Regards,
    Shiva

    Hi Senthil,
The BOM/ PRod Vers looks correct. In fact, the PDS is created correctly using CURTO_CREATE transaction in test system, and so are all orders correct.  But, as a standard, we are using CIF IMods only for PDS transfer.
What is the difference between transferring PDS using CIF IMods and CURTO_CREATE?

  • ISE and CDP device sensor

    Hi, all.
Anyone can explain to me, how the CDP device sensor probe works with ISE ???
What I am trying to do, is to identify different Cisco Wireless Access Point models (i.e. LAP 1142) with ISE.
Since the APs do speak CDP (I can see the AP devices on the switch), this should be possible with the CDP device sensor on the switch, shouldn't it  ....
I have done the following so far:
Configured the switch to talk to ISE via radius accounting:
    aaa group server radius SERVERGROUP_radius_accounting
         server name ISE02
    radius server ISE02
          address ipv4 [ISE02 ip address] auth-port 1645 acct-port 1646

    radius-server vsa send cisco-nas-port
    radius-server vsa send accounting
    radius-server vsa send authentication
    aaa accounting dot1x default start-stop group SERVERGROUP_radius_accounting
Configured SNMP traps to be sent to ISE:
snmp-server host [ISE02 ip address] [SNMP RO Community]
    authentication mac-move permit
    authentication critical recovery delay 120
mac address-table notification change interval 60
    mac address-table notification change

Configured an additional IP helper on the AP vlan pointing to ISE:
    interface vlan xyz
    ip helper-address [ISE02 ip address]
I have configured new profiling conditions on ISE, which use the cdp attributes:
and used these conditions in a new profiling policy for the 114x AP:
ISE is configured to listen to DHCP, radius, DNS and SNMP traps ....

How do the device sensors work ???
    Rgs
    Frank

A switch with sensor capability gathers  endpoint information from network devices using protocols such as Cisco  Discovery Protocol (CDP), LLDP, and DHCP, subject to statically configured  filters, and makes this information available to its registered clients in the  context of an access session. An access session represents an endpoint's  connection to the network device
Client notifications and accounting  messages containing profiling data along with the session events, and other  session-related data, such as MAC address and ingress port are generated and  sent to the internal and external clients (ISE). By default, for each supported  peer protocol, client notifications and accounting events are only generated  where an incoming packet includes a TLV that has not previously been received in  the context of a given session. You can enable client notifications and  accounting events for all TLV changes, where either a new TLV has been received  or a previously received TLV has been received with a different value using CLI  commands.

  • Principal Propagation SOAP - XI - RFC Scenario

    Hi,
I am developing a synchronous scenario whereby a SOAP request posted by a non SAP system should be forwarded to an ECC system using RFC. Challenge I am facing is that I want to use the user, which was used for basic user authentification to post to XI, dynamically in the RFC call. I have been reading about Principal Propagation using assertion tickets, however only SOAP receiver adapter is spoken about. I am trying to configure this using SOAP Sender adapter.
As far as my understanding goes the sending system should be able to create these assertion tickets ?
Has anyone developed a similar interface ?
Scenario is: Non SAP SOAP Sending system = Client, Adapter engine = Server & Client, Integration Server = Server & client and Receiving ABAP system (ECC6.0) is Server.
Any help would be appreciated and awarded if helpfull.
    Kind Regards, Jelmer Keuken

    Hi,
This scenario is definately possible to implement with principal propagation.
    1. Enable the PP on Integration server
    2. Here you need not have to do anything on SOAP sender side to create the assertion ticket..
The assertion ticket is required on SAP side which will act as Web AS ABAP Server.
