Cdrom directory missing in root
Hi guys,
thanks for helping out. I recently installed solaris 10 zfs in netra240 server. This netra240 has a DVD Rom. However, in the root directory, there is no cdrom. It is missing. I will glad if someone can help me resolve this issue.
Thank you again.
Hi,
The Solaris OS has a Volume Management Utility managed by SMF Service (svc:/system/filesystem/volfs:default). It will automatically mount the cdrom under /cdrom when you insert one in the drive. It it doesn't mount it, you have to mount it manually. The procedure is:
1. Disable the volfs service. (svcadm disable -v volfs).
2. mount the cdrom. (mount -F hsfs /dev/dsk/<cdrom> /cdrom
3. Access the cdrom content.
4. Eject the cdrom (cd /;eject cdrom).
5. Enable volfs service (svcadm enable -v volfs).

Azure File Storage - Creating a directory at the root level using REST
I have a Xamarin / iOS project, and looking to use Azure File Share as a back-end.
With that in mind, I'm playing around with the REST API and have generally got things working with (a) Blobs and (b) Account-level access to Files.
Specifically, I can successfully request a list of File Shares, so I have the general call structure worked out.
However, I'm stumped about the exact incantation necessary to create a new directory at the root level of a share.
I've tried the following three variants, but all result in Forbidden - Server failed to authenticate the request
request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/subdirname1
request.Query: ?restype=directory
string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:07:25 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/subdirname1\nrestype:directory
request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/subdirname1/
request.Query: ?restype=directory
string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:07:58 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/subdirname1/\nrestype:directory
request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
request.AbsolutePath: /myshare//subdirname1
request.Query: ?restype=directory
string to sign: PUT\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:06:16 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare//subdirname1\nrestype:directory
I did note that trying to get the contents of an (empty) root directory doesn't behave quite the way I'd expect
request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net
request.AbsolutePath: /myshare/
request.Query: ?resttype=directory&comp=list
string to sign: GET\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nx-ms-date:Sun, 30 Nov 2014 16:23:17 GMT\nx-ms-version:2014-02-14\n/myaccount/myshare/\ncomp:list\nrestype:directory
Authenticates OK, but generates FAILURE BadRequest - The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server.
Which is different behaviour from pulling the list of blobs from an empty container (returns 200 with an empty xml list of blobs.
I've been through the File Service REST API document (dn167006) and found the azurestoragesamples on codeplex, but the former is unclear on working with the root level and the latter is from 2011 and predates File Storage.
Any insights?First, thank you for the quick response and the suggestion about looking at the response content for the string to sign being used. I wasn't aware of that and obviously it's a fantastic resource for figuring this kind of stuff out.
And what it immediately revealed is it wasn't some subtle oddity in my construction of the STS, it was that I was doing a client.GetAsync(...) and not a client.PutAsync(...). DOH!
With that sorted, it was trivial to fix.
In terms of the List Directories and Files, though, there's still a problem.
FAILURE BadRequest - The requested URI does not represent any resource on the server.
request.Host: myaccount.file.core.windows.net

The response XML is

I originally thought it might be because the share was empty. However, I'm targeting the same share in which I created (apparently successfully) the subdirectory.
So I'm still confuzzled on that. -
~/Desktop directory missing
After system upgrade (total download size was approximately 450 MB) and rebooting computer, ~/Desktop directory missing, so there is no icons on Desktop.
I can create ~/Desktop dir manually and I can copy files to ~/Desktop dir, but there is no difference - I still can't view icons or press right click on mouse on Desktop.

ETC Directory missing from the KM Content directory in EP
Dear experts
The etc directory is missing from the KM Content Directory in Enterprise Portal. It's appearing for some of the application servers and missing from some. Please find the settings in the file system repository
Prefix (must start with /): /etc
Active: Checked
Lookupmode: caseless
root directory:
issapepp\sapmnt\EPP\SYS\global\config\cm\etc
Looking for a quick response..
Regards,
VivekHi Laura,
I did check that option and it's unchecked.1
Also, the path root directory path is *
issapepp\sapmnt\EPP\SYS\global\config\cm\etc* which is common among all the application servers setup for the portal. It's only two of the application servers for which we are not able to view the \etc directory. For the other app servers we are able to see the \etc directory. Please note that I am accessing the individual application servers inorder to check this.

Hi,
I've deployed Lync 2010 in resource forest environement. I can create Lync user but when i want to populate msRTCSIP-OriginatorSID attribute (for linked accounts), it is missing.
In fact, many Lync attributes are missing. I've only 8 msRTCSIP- attributes.
The schema is up to date (v. 1100)
Create a lync user from a regular user account on root of AD and same problem.
Have you an idea ?
Best regardsHi,
Did you solve the issue with the help of Austinite79 and Anthony provided?
In Deployment Wizard window, please click the refresh icon at the top right corner, and make sure the first step in Active Directory Preparation is completed with green mark.

/etc folder missing under root in EP6SP9 CM
Hi all,
I am in EP6 SP9 under Windows 2003.
After installation of Content Management, I have noticed that the /etc directory under root folder is missing. Hence all the areas where I have folder icons for folders are coming blank since they refer to the mime/image directory for the jpg icons.
Is there a bug in EP6 SP9 or do I have to patch up some hotfixes to get the /etc directory.Anyone else facing this problem.
Regards,
Rajan.KHi Rajan,
Under
System Administration->System Configuration->
Knowledge Management->Content Management
Check root directory field whether there is an entry like:
//<yourhost>/sapmnt/<SYSID>/global/config/cm/etc
exists. If not try to add it.
We had the same problem, after this adjustment it is solved.

Outlook 2010 Distribution Group contact member "Al" is not showing an email address. In Active Directory "Al" is showing an email address but it's not a SMTP email address that is created when you add a new Mail contact using EAC.
When the DG owner sends out an email using DG email account, the mail bounces back as undeliverable.
Exchange Admin Center is not showing the member. The only way to fix the member is by deleting the contact. Re-add contact in EAC then add to Distribution Group. We have over 30 DGs that are missing the SMTP email addresses.
Can a Powershell command fix this issue or is there a sync issue between AD and Exchange?Hi,
From your description, the contact you specified should be contact not mail contact. Contact and mail contact are two different things. If you create a contact in ADUC, you need to mail-enable it and then set the primary SMTP address for it.
For more information, here is an article for your reference.

Like the title says, pretty self explanatory. I bought this MacBook from a friend of mine and her name is still on the Home Icon (short name). I get the idea of how to change it but once I get to the Directory Utility to enable the Root User, I find that there is NO edit menu. So now I'm somewhat at an impasse on how to do this so I've decided to come here for some help. Sorry if this has been asked a million times, I've gone through some other topics somewhat similar and nothing remotely came close to this issue. I find it odd that I don't have an Edit Menu in the DU. If there is a different way to this then please let me know, if not then please walk me through this. Thanks!
Have a look at this link - hopefully it sorts it out for you...

Tomcat won't compile jsps if they are in any directory other than root
I'm running a new instance of Tomcat, and can't get a simple jsp file to compile, if it's in any directory other than the root.
The jsp is:
<%@ page import="test.Simple" %>
<%@ page contentType="text/html" language="java" %>
<html>
<body><%=Simple.makeText()%>
</body>
</html>
and the Simple class is:
package test;
import java.util.Random;
public class Simple {
public static String makeText() {
return String.valueOf(new Random().nextInt());
When I place the jsp in the root directory, it works fine.
When I place the jsp in any subfolder (eg: /debug/1b.jsp), I get the following error:

My friend it'd be great idea if you can find google tutorial on TOMCAT/web application basics
anyways coming back to your problem
whenever,an application is deployed on tomcat a new folder is being created at the following location %CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/ with respect to application name.
Therefore try to maintain an architecture like the one below if you programmin any web application.
%CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/<applicationName>/(place all your .jsp files)
-----------------%CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/<applicationName>/META_INF/(Place your mainfest files & context specific configuration files)
-----------------%CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/<applicationName>/WEB_INF/ (Genrally used to save secured files which cannot be access directly and always make sure you prepare a web.xml file associated to the application)
-----------------%CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/<applicationName>/WEB_INF/lib (place where all your .jar file libraries are being placed)
-----------------%CATILINA_HOME%/webapp/<applicationName>/WEB_INF/classes (place where all your .class,resource files are being placed as the pacakage structure you have choosed in)
If this doesnot work even if you ensuring everything's right.Reading through tutorials & speding time on finding resources by yourself would be a great idea.
I hope there are no hard issue on this. :)

Hello,
I need to create a bootable backup of my hard drive, but my cloning solftware says it can't because a required system file (tmp) does not exist at the root of the source volume. I don't remember intentionally removing it. Is there a way to reinstall it where it belongs.
Thanks in advance,
josearturoFirst, use Disk Utility to repair permissions. If the "real" /private/tmp/ folder is missing this will replace it. Next recreate the symbolic link in the root:
If your /tmp file is suddenly missing, various action such as starting Classic, printing, software update, file sharing, and burnings discs will not function. To fix this, open up the Terminal and type:
sudo ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
Hit return, enter your admin password, and hit return again. -
Authenticated Users & Users missing from Root
Hello,
Environment: MDT 2013, 2008 R2, Windows 7 x86. MDT is located on Windows 7 x86 and is not integrated with SCCM or WDS.
Process: Separate build, capture, and deployment task sequences.
Problem: After deployment the Authenticated Users and local Users are missing from the root (e.g., c:). The only security permissions assigned to the root are SYSTEM, domain account, Local Administrator.
This causes problems once joined to a domain due to the fact Authenticated Users have no permissions forcing a given user to have a temporary account. So far, only a partial workaround is identified and is undesirable in the long-run. The workaround
is to manually add Authenticated Users as well as the Local Users to the root and delete the domain account but the system will only allow partial inheritance through the file structure. Delete all entries for a particular user in the registry (e.g.,
PolicyGUID, ProfileGUID, ProfileList). Afterwards, log in to the machine with an account within the domain administrator group.
Additional information shows the registry Profilelist entries for a user maintains partial access with a value of 204; this includes the user and a domain account within the administrator group. The domain account present after deployment has a value
of 0. Two accounts have the expected value of 256 and they are the local and domain administrator account.
Also, if the same image is deployed using the PE environment the accounts are as they should be. The groups added are: Authenticated Users, Localmachine\Users, SYSTEM, Localmachine\Administrators.
The questions are: why would the Authenticated Users and Local Users accounts be missing? Why is the account used to deploy added?
Help is very appreciated, and thank you.Hello, Nicholas the sysprep and capture is completed by a default template from MDT LTI sequence. The answer file used is the default provided by MDT. No attempt is made to capture from winpe because this simply negates the point of the MDT process.
However, applying the same image from winpe there are no permission issues and all the appropriate groups are assigned to the root.
With returning to the office this fine morning, I ran icacls on a machine:
C:\Users\Administrator>icacls c:\
c:\ No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.

As the user in question, when I browse \\san.f.q.d.n\share$\username, the BACKUP directory exists, but there are no sub directories.
I manually created the sub directories, USERNAME\USMT - so the full path now exists: \\san.f.q.d.n\share$\username\BACKUP\USERNAME\USMT
I re-ran USMT but the process returned the same error.
If I specify other shares not on san.f.q.d.n but on san1.f.q.d.n or server.f.q.d.n or even workstation.f.q.d.n, it works fine.
Can someone provide guidance on how to troubleshoot this further?In Windows, setting the Environmental Variable sometimes DOES NOT WORK.
The -Djava.io.tmpdir=C:\temp setting must be made in the server properties of the oc4j in order for it to work.

Hi,
The directory oracle is missing from the location
]$ pwd
/u04/Rel11i/devora/8.0.6/forms60/java
$ cd oracle
-bash: cd: oracle: No such file or directory
How to resolve this.Anyone Pls help...
Thanks,
PraveenI copied that oracle directory structure from another instance and the patch which was not working
worked fine.I think that generation of jar files was also an issue of not having this oracle dir structure
as the patch was failing at that stepThis is expected, since Registry.dat should exist under $806_ORACLE_HOME/form60/java/registry/ and none of the files/directories should be missing under $806_ORACLE_HOME/form60/java
But still i have to copy the Directories you menionted?Yes, you should copy all those files in order to have an identical copy of your source instance. Can you list the directories which you have copied when you cloned the instance? -
