Certain keys on midi keyboard no longer seem to be recognized -

Hi all,
I've done my best to read through all the existing posts on similar topics but haven't been able to solve this seemingly odd but probably simple issue. I'm at the end of my wits, hope someone can help!
I have been using an M-Audio Axiom 25 with Logic Pro 8.0.2 on a MacBook Pro for about a year with no problems. Yesterday, a large portion of the keys on the Axiom stopped working. The highest two notes on the keyboard register in the transport as C3 and B2, which I can also hear, but no other keys seem to generate input/output. However, the trigger pads on the Axiom generate other notes (their default assignments) normally.
In the "clicks and ports" page, the onscreen keyboard registers every note I click with the mouse, but still nothing from keys other than the two I mentioned above. I'd like to say everything looks normal in this window, but I haven't used it enough to know for sure.
It doesn't seem to be project-specific as it happens even in new projects. Also, I've shut down Logic and opened Garage Band and the keyboard exhibits the same abnormal behavior there.
In preferences ->MIDI -> general, I've clicked "reset all midi drivers" with no change. Logic seems to "see" the M-Audio device, they're just not playing nicely. Just for kicks, tried a different cord - not that either. Also, in Audio Midi Setup, I deleted the Axiom 25, shut down Logic, plugged the Axiom back in, but nothing changed. Logic still recognizes the Axiom but only those two keys (and the pads) work. In "show info", the "device is online" is checked but also greyed out.
I'd like to think that I've accidentally changed a setting, etc, but can't figure it out! I'd be supremely grateful for any help you can give. What can I look at next?
Thanks!
- Nate

Hey, thanks for responding.
I did as you suggested and checked out the Controller Assignments window. There were a few things assigned, but I clicked delete and now there is a message that reads "no assignments selected". Sadly, that did not change the situation and still only those last two keys (and on the on-board pads) register input in the transport.
Any other ideas? I'll try them! When this happened, I was on a roll that I'm looking forward to getting back to.
The only other thing I can think of to try right now is to try the controller with a different computer.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help!

  • Yoga 3 Pro - Certain Keys Missing from Keyboard. How to virtually use them?

    Hi.
I have bought this for about a week and was not happy about the combination of "Home" and "End" keys since I use them a lot. In using VMWare I noticed there is no "Insert" key on the keyboard at all, thus I cannot use the Ctrl+Alt+Insert functionality in my virtual machines. Today, a random combination of keys was pressed on the keyboard and the "Scroll Lock" was enabled, and guess what: There is no scroll lock in the Yoga 3 Pro! Now I have no idea how to disable this again and non of the forums or manuals have addressed this.
(Lenovo design team has made is specifically hard for users. Not only the keyboard layout and certain keys are removed, but even I cannot find a spare chargin cable for my officec. They have changed everything - even Yoga 2 Pro charging cable is not compatible - and yet not available in the market. Not a very smart strategy )

    Welcome to the forum!
I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I had to really take a look at my own Y3P to realize there is no Insert key, I guess I got too used to the touchscreen
To get rid of the Scroll Lock you can press the combination Fn+C.
Alternatively you can also go to the Control Panel, then "Easy of Access Center" and start the On-Screen Keyboard, you can disable the Scroll lock from there too.

  • Program a Midi keyboard to play certain loops??

I've been using GarageBand for a while now (i bought my macbook 2 weeks before the new one came out errr) And i've finally hooked up my keyboard through midi. I'm getting used to making my own loops. Is there a way to program certain keys on the keyboard to play a certain sound similar to a MPC controller? Like chop up sounds of a song and set program it to the C0 key? Thanks.
Also is Logic studio like an advanced garage band? is it worth buying?

  • HP 15-d069wm TouchSmart Notebook PC keyboard certain keys not working

Certain keys (space bar, left shift key, z, x, c, v, b, n, m , comma, period, /) and number keys (1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 9) on the keyboard of my laptop are not working. I already tried to do several hard resets (disconnecting power supply and taking out battery) but that didn't help. I also "uninstalled" the keyboard using the device manager, that didn't work either.
The laptop was bought in June 2014. I'm using an external USB keyboard right now.
Any ideas how to fix that issue?
    Thanks!

  • Macbook no longer recognizes my midi keyboard

Hello folks. I'm having this problem where my macbook no longer recognizes my midi keyboard (M-Audio Radium 61.) I've had it working fine in the past through this midi to usb converter, and now the usb converter still lights up and shows data flowing when I have it plugged in, but for some reason the computer just doesn't seem to see it. The macbook also doesn't see this aggregate device I had working the other day too. But it sees other aggregate devices that are made up of the same outboard audio interfaces I have. Sunday was the first time I had my whole setup working with the keyboard running into Reason, out to Ardour via Jackpilot and out through my audio interface via the aggregate device (which is actually just made up of the inputs and outputs of my M-Audio FastTrack Pro because for some reason the computer sees them as separate devices... different point of contention...) Anyway, so now today was the first time I tried to set it all up the same way again since Sunday and I can't get them working. Any thoughts?

The arrow keys on my wireless keyboard no longer respond or scroll. They will page down with the fn/command key, but do not respond by themselves. How can I fix this? This is with an iMac, 10.7.5. Thanks..

I'm having similar issues with the wireless keyboard, the brightness buttons aren't working and Apple can't seem to fix the issue. They replaced the keyboard for me and the initially worked but now they aren't and this was replaced today.
Can you please let me know how you fixed the f1 and f2 keys? Everything else works for me...

  • Liquid spill on keyboard. Certain keys not working. Any inexpensive repair? re

Water spill on the keyboard of my Mac Book Air. Now certain keys not functioning. A Mac friend suggested submerging in rice upside down to dry out. Didn't work. Warranty expired. Help!

Yes, the "magic rice trick" doesnt work.
    inexpensive repair? No.
Liquid spills, why your MacBook chassis is a one-way valve for spills
After a substantial spill many people will turn their notebook upside down and shake it, not only does this not work, but it spreads liquid havoc throughout your machine and makes things often as bad as possible.
The keyboard itself acts like a one way valve in the case of a substantial liquid spill. While liquid pours into the bottom chassis easy, it does not come out easily at all, and in the case of any spill, most of it will not come out by turning it upside down. Disconnect all power and contact Apple for diagnostics and repair.
Do not attempt to, after a spill, ‘dry out your MacBook’ and test it
After a spill most people invariably try to “dry out” their notebook by various methods, including hair dryers and otherwise. This both does not work, and after a substantial spill of any magnitude, even if the liquid was water, residue is left behind.
There are additionally many very tight places inside your notebook where liquids will linger for a very long time, and cause corrosion or worse.
Immediately unplug your notebook and contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and parts replacement.
In the case of very minor spills people will “dry out” their notebook and feel success that their notebook is working ok, however invariably in nearly all instances after 4-14 days an error / fault pops up and is usually followed by more.
In case of a spill, damage estimates are impossible,.....anything can be fixed, without question.......the question is cost.
contact Apple for in shop diagnostics and cost estimation ....possible parts replacement.

  • Special keys/buttons on enhanced HP keyboard no longer do anything

The special keys/buttons on my keyboard no longer do anything. ALL ,except for the Mute and Volume Up/Down buttons, do nothing when pressed. The Eject 1 and Eject 2 buttons used to Open/Close upper and lower the drive trays, but now do not.  I tried downloading the drivers from teh HP website but they are older than the ones I got with the computer. I tried installing them anyways but the install keeps crashing with error "If (OSLangDec=="1028" || OSLangDec=="2052" || OSLangDec=="3076") Then".
Any idea why these special keyboard buttons are non-functional at this point?

Hi mikenowo, sry I haven't got any more ideas on this one.
In an effort to bump this back up toward the top of the list, here's a couple more questions for you:  Is ur Vista current with updates i.e. SP1 and/or SP2?  And have you, by chance, disabled the "kbd" services from start up?  (KBD.exe runs the special buttons on the keyboard.  Needs to have a check mark next to it, like this.)
And an observation:  I googled ur error message and, from my brief survey, this oslangdec thing appears to be an hp specific issue with windows operating systems, both xp and vista, a compatability/emulation conflict of some type?  I even found one thread where someone posted a pic almost identical to the one u posted.   Here's the link to that forum thread.   And here's the pic *he* posted (almost two yrs ago).  You will see in that thread that he's not even talking about keyboards; he is having a problem with audio drivers.   This tells me that the problem is not specific to the keyboard driver - but to certain 3rd party driver installation in general?  Unfortuantely noone every followed up with any solution either in this thread or any others I found.  But I bring it up now in case someone else in these forums has any idears.
    Good luck.

Sound keys on keyboard no longer control sound. What should I do to fix this?

    Hey Bill,
Check to see if the option for "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys." is turned off. When it is turned on, you would need to hold the Fn key while hitting one of those keys will make it work they way icons are displayed. To find out where this option is, go to System Preferences > Keyboard and in the Keyboard tab is where you want to be. Take a look at the article below for more information.

  • Macbook Pro keyboard typing in random letters and symbols with certain keys

My mother is not a very tech savvy person. We recently upgraded her Windows PC to a Macbook Pro. A few days ago she went to some website about working from home. I'm pretty sure it was a scam website. Anyway after that the keyboard started acting weird.
Certain keys will either not work or just type random keystrokes. The keys that I know of are
    7= 123477
    U= IOTUYw
    J= adfgjs
M= Will sometimes minimize the active window and other times will type out random symbols (æ∆¬)
    :; key= 0 - Esc, and changes the volume
' key= Tab, random symbols, enables caps lock
    Eject Key= § changes volume
I had Sophos Anti Virus installed on it, and after running a full scan it didn't come up with anything. To be safe i decided to completely wipe her Macbook. I also did the 7-pass DOD Standard erase.
After that i resinstalled Lion on her computer. After restarting the same issue persists. I tried seeing if there was an OSX update that needed to be installed, and that didnt fix anything. I also ran the Apple hardware test. It came up with no issues.
I also checked to see if foriegn keyboards were turned on, etc.
I have no idea what to do now. Using my bluetooth keyboard works fine. The keys type what they should. She says he hasn't spilt anything on it, but she works as a daycare provider and sometimes the little kids watch movies or youtube videos on it.
    Any help would be appreciated!

I just spent hour trying to fix tihs on my iMac and could find the answer so I wanted to post it for someone else. Mine was typing in crazy symbols (åß∂ƒ©).
Also I could not Command + Tab (shoot me), and when I clicked on a window in another app it hid the windows I was working in.
I tried new keyboards. And the system preferences stuff - system preferences - language & text - input sources. then select US. This didn't fix it.
Then I tried to change the keyboard shortcuts in the same window - spotlight (on left), unclick the show spotlight search field and the other one bellow. Then hit the com + Spacebar. This didn't fix it.
Then i did it and double check that i did it right and still didn't fix it.
So I called apple support and they gave me the magical key to fix this.
Turn off your computer. Unplug for 30 sec, and everything attached. Then power it back on and hurry and hold Command + Option + P + R. I held Command + Option + P with one hand and then after I hit power I added the R.
The computer will make one chime. Keep holding it. I will then shut down and make one more chime and you can let go.
    Taa daa!!
    I have a 27" iMac 2.93Ghz i7 with 10.8.2 (FYI).
