Certain symbols are displaying as html code on twitter?

mostly the symbols > < &.
and it's only on twitter.
i noticed it first when i installed the new firefox.
it turns < into &lt; and > into &gt; and & into &amp; (without spaces) which i find ridiculous for the last one, because it includes an ampersand to make the symbol, but that's something other.
i'm just wondering, is there /anything/ i can do to fix this?
it's super annoying and it makes it hard to click on links or see people's emoticons.

This has been driving me crazy.
Changing over to "New Twitter" fixed the problem for me.

How to display some html code in the front panel

Hello.
I am trying to properly display a few lines of html code in some kind of indicator on my front panel.
I was trying to use an ActiveX container with MS IE in it, but all the methods I find are to make it navigate to a given URL. I did not find any method or property by which I could give it some html code and it would display it.
Anybody know of a way to do this? It does not have to be using ActiveX or MS IE.

Here is a simple way using the activeX that I have embedded in some programs in the past. You will have to call the file path to show the file.

Mail is displaying as html code

Hi,
Is anyone else having this problem? As of a month or so ago, mail I receive often displays line after line of html and other code. It's as if sender sent an html email, but I'm getting the code, not the designed display.
(I tried including a chunk for you to see, but when I previewed it, it appeared as design, not code.)
Can anyone fill me in on why this happens and how to stop it?
(Extra info: I created an html sig a couple of months ago. Cd that be affecting anything?)

Mine was doing the same thing and I was able to fix it by going to preferences > Viewing > and unchecking the, " Display remote images in HTML messages" box. Seems to be working now.

Certain symbols are not shown ( see screen shot) How to resolve?

From this website the logo and arrows are not shown whereas when I am using internet explorer they do show up. What is wrong in my settings and how to adjust these?

As I can see it is a narrow box with two rows of two characters? Firefox displays that code when it cannot find the corresponding character in any available font. The most common reason to see this is that some sites are now replacing image icons with font characters that Firefox has to download. If you have set Firefox to:
* use only your preferred fonts instead of the page's preferred fonts
* not download fonts (either in about:config or using the NoScript extension)
then you would need to change that in order to see the icons.
First check your font settings here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content
Click the Advanced button and make sure there is a check in the box for "Allow pages to choose their own fonts".
If you change that, try reloading the page. Does Firefox load the missing icons?
If that doesn't fix the issue then do the following:
You can check the '''gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled''' pref on the '''about:config''' page (you can go to it by typing about:config in your address bar) and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).
Sometimes it also happens because of the slow connection. Due to slow connection the text which takes less space are somehow downloaded but the image couldn't get downloaded within the connection time frame.

Firefox not displaying certain symbols

I can't display certain symbols on Firefox.
Example: <code>&equiv;</code> does not show anything on the page I'm working on. However, a symbol like <code> &rsaquo; </code> would show.
I discovered a hack that displays the symbol by changing the tag. <code><h4>&equiv;</h4></code> with an h1, h2 tag and so on, it will display the symbol. This hack, however is semantically incorrect and I don't want it in my site just so the symbol can display on Firefox. My site already has the <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> just as this one.
Any suggestions?

Okay, so this is what I did: I took the whole source code of that page http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Unicode/Character_reference/2000-2FFF which displays all the symbols correctly, but as soon as I changed the symbol tag from td to span it vanished. So it looks that when wrapped on some tags, the symbols won't display.
A little more information, I'm working on a Wordpress theme, but I did a plain HTML page with the same results. The symbol displays on Safari, Chrome and Opera, I'm yet to try it on IE.

Htmldb_item displays the value of items as HTML code

I have created an SQL Query(Updateable Report) with 1 edit column. I am trying to display the data and to do Multi-row updates using HTMLDB.Item.
The data displays as HTML code when I define the element as a "Text Field".
The data displays fine when I define the element as a "Standard Report Column", but then I can't edit it.
Here is the code I use in my Sql Query:

Yes. I have done that. When I set it to Standard Report Column it displays fine.
Then when I type in changes and click the apply changes button, it always goes back to the original value.

HELP! Copyright symbol not displaying properly!

Hi, I just uploaded a site and I have a couple of problems. The copyright symbol on the footer of each page shows up as a diamond with a question mark in it. Then on some other pages, like the FAQs page for example, the bullet symbols are displaying correctly but the em dashes look like a diamond question mark followed by a G with a squiggle under it. What am I doing wrong?

Also, it seems my footer is breaking onto a second line. It looks fine in Dreamweaver when I preview the page in a browser, but now it looks like it doesn't fit. It might have to do with the copyright symbol, not sure. Please help because I've already uploaded the site and I don't want people to view it messed up like it is, thanks!

Can I assume that you either copied this straight from word or pasted the text into Design View?
If you go into the code view, you will probably see the diamond symbols there too. For the copyright symbols:

For your bullets, you can either modify what you have or change it to an unordered list which is the correct way to display such information.
To change to unordered list, select the bulleted text and in the Dreamweaver menu go Insert > HTML > Text objects > Unordered List.
In code view you should see each line now has <li> around it.
To replace what you have, remove the symbols in code view and replace with •
�Ģ Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners 
Replace with:
• Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners 
For your em dash:
Insert > HTML > Special Characters > Em-Dash
or
add — in code view.
As for the footer, it seems to be a basic spacing issue. This can be amended several ways - increasing the width of the div/table cell, decreasing the font size, removing margins/padding etc. Or it could simply be caused by the additional diamond symbols on the copyright.

PDF and column HTML code

My report table include column with HTML format such as
<a target="_blank" href="tableA.url">tableA.url</a>
It works fine in dashbaord: I see the URL and when click on it, I got the URL in new window.
When I export to PDF, the resulting PDF display the HTML code and not just the URL.
Any ideas?

The WBS elements are stored in the table PRPS , so please try using the conversion exit and use the data in internal format then use it in the IF condition.
Check the FM CONVERSION_EXIT_ABPSN_INPUT and CONVERSION_EXIT_ABPSN_OUTPUT

Muse CC Emails sent by Form widget are shown as html-tags

Hi,
I´ve got the following problem that emails sent by the Muse CC form widget are shown as html-code or html-tags in my inbox.
Though the message contains all filled in data this is a quite unreadable format similarily as in post http://forums.adobe.com/message/5818028#5818028
I already read the discussions here in the community but as it seems the issue though already known seems not be fixed yet nor does any of the answers which refer to the ISP configurations regarding message handling apply to me. Actually this is a first time issue with mails - haven´t had this problem up to now so I guess it´s a Muse thing.
Though the mail is shown in some kind of html-tag format as mentioned it is actually marked as "text only" message?
Furthermore the message is UTF-8 so there shouldn´t be any problems with special characters either but also German consonants like "ä,ü,ö" are not formatted correctly.
I am using Windows 7, Outlook 2013 by the way.
The Muse site was exported as html and then uploaded via ftp, I am not using catalyst.
No idea what´s going wrong here hopefully someone has a solution to this problem.

Function to unformat HTML code

I start to build a report with CF Report Builder (8) and at
some point, I realize that one of the field I need to display have
HTML code (e.g.: , , etc...). The fact is that
this field is using a Rich Editor (FCKEditor) when input the text.
Until now, I did not have any problem with this but it displays all
the code in the report (in the CF Report Builder) and it is not
really human-friendly. I saw that it is a function to transform
basic text in HTML but is it something to do the inverse?

Well you actually gave me the idea. I found something on
CFLIB.org yes but it was not doing the job properly so I did my own
code to convert the string before passing it to the CFR (as a
parameter) and as I have only few HTML tags to take car, it was
done in a matter of 2 minutes.

Date picker field shows html code?

I have a HTMLDB 2.0 app that I have ported to APEX 3.1. I have one field that is a date picker field which has a before regions computation on it that calculates an expiration date. For some reason, the text area shows the HTML code of the page, not the calculated date. No idea why. Anyone? TIA

Adding HTML code corrupts (and destroys) site

I was informed by Apple support that iWeb does not support adding HTML to your page (even though I did so in the Forms widget), and that the code corrupted my page (causing all kinds of font issues, blurry images, and wacky layout errors). They said I would have to rebuild the page from scratch (I have already spent hours building an intensive website that is now useless). I am skeptical that all these iWeb problems (font changes, wrong colors, layout chaos, blurry fonts, etc.) are caused by HTML code, so if anyone has any more info I would appreciate it. I am ready to throw iWeb in the garbage and go back to Dreamweaver MX!!! Thanks.

not totally comfortable posting links to the site (its a business site and not mine)... if you search around for iWeb problems you will find many people having the same issues... when i tried fixing my original page (after deleting the page with the problematic code) the problems still occurred... when i redid the page completely the problems stopped happening (at least for now)... I was told by the Applecare person that the code had completely infested/corrupted the entire site and that it could not be fixed... that I would have to completely recreate the site again... what doesn't make sense is that such a glaring, fundamental problem on such a basic program goes ignored by such a powerful, inventive, flourishing company... disappointing to see all the issues/bugs that get officially ignored on these forums...

Hey guys! Pretty new to Thunderbird.
When I reply to people on my Thunderbird, the recipients are just receiving html code.
I'm using one account on 2 different computers for my eBay messages, how do I stop this?
Weird thing is, one of the accounts works fine and the other doesn't.
And I noticed when I reply on the one I've got a problem with, the field for me to type my reply is based down at the bottom, whereas the one that is fine, I have to type at the top (which I prefer anyway).
I didn't set either of them up, I used an IT technician, but he knew nothing about Mozilla and it took him ages. So I can't ask him, and I'm sure one of you geniuses can help me :) Plus if I did ask him, it would probably take him ages again.
One thing I could do is update the version and see what happens. If that works I'm sorry for wasting your time.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
