Certain web sites are displayed all on the left side of screen, and make the sit three times as long

sites such as espn are fine but when i click on the tab for college football everything is aligned to the left and all out of place. It's just a white page with all the words and pics running down the left side of the page wich makes the page four times as long as it should be. What is the problem?

* "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
* "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Those buttons are used to scroll through the tabs if you have too many to display. If all of the tabs that you have open are visible, the buttons should not be displayed. If they are displayed all of the time there may be a problem with the theme that you are using.

Presentation starts 5" from the left side of screen and pushes intellegence off the screen to the right.

The top of my screen is normal: the tool bar starts "File, Edit...
The body of the screen while running Firefox-and during typing of this message- is full of lite. The actual data: starting from the top of this page- "Firefox Help... Ask a new..." etc. starts 5 1/4 inches from the left of the page.
It's as if Firefox were presenting a wider page with the presentation moved to the right. This pushes the last, normal, 5" of the presentation off the screen.
The rite end of the bar which starts out: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
is off the page, so the facilities at the rite end are lost.
Any presentation, including Amazon.com and Youtube.com are similarly pushed off the rite side of the screen by 5".
I have no access to the rite-most 5" of any internet presentation.
The sliders that move the presentation up and down and left/ rite are off the screen.
I have shrunk the display down so small, i can barely see the numbers: Control panel\ display \ settings \ 1920 by 1200. This gives the ILLUSION of centering the presentation, but still no sliders. At this setting, i can see the full width of Amazon. Youtube appears centered, with 4 1/4" on both left and rite, but no edge sliders.
I dropped the 'setting' to 1440 x 900.
Lost about 3" off the rite side of Amazon; barely on the rite edge of Youtube.
None of my local programming has a problem: Excel, pictures, videos, Word, even Internet Explorer goes full page and centered.
I un-installed Firefox and downloaded it fresh. It did NOT ask me to reboot my puter, so i didn't .
I can supply pictures (screen shots) of the phenomenon on request.

- Open Firefox -> got to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. You can enable the Add-ons later. Check if its working.

If you click on View in the top menu, and then click on Show Sidebar, then you will see the Devices listed (when your device is connected) under the Library and Store.
The reason it disappeared is because that little "iPod" indicator that shows on the top also has the "Eject" button right next to the iPod name, and it is really easy to click on that instead of the button itself....

Turning the left side navigation on and off dynamically

I need to have the navigation on the left side turn on and off pending what community the current user is it. I can do this (kind of) by creating a class implementing NavigationCommonVerticalView and IView. My over riding methods check the community ID and return null need be.
The problem is that whatever class is calling this still creates a table cell with a width of 200 for the navigation bar wether it is there or not. I imagine I can fix this one of two ways.
1 - Set the cell width to be 0 all the time. When there is content the browser should force this to be expanded. I however can not find this setting anywhere
2 - Override the class that calls my NavigationCommonVerticalView class. Hopefully this will provide a mechanism to turn that cell of completely. However I have not determined what class this. I thought it might be "com.plumtree.portalpages.browsing.myportal.myPortal" by when I try to override this class, I can not get it to load at startup by adding it to the customActivitySpaces.xml file.
Please help.

Unfortunately, there is currently no setting to allow you to set the cell width.
In our next release there is a setting available in NavigationSettings.xml. Also, the page checks to see if the value returned from the Display method of your View is null before inserting a cell for the View's content.
The only thing that you could do before the next release would be to override com.plumtree.portalpages.common.uiparts.PlumtreeDP. I hesitate to suggest doing this because PlumtreeDP controls the display of almost all pages in the portal.

If there's a hardware defect and your phone is under warranty, bring it to Apple for replacement.

I've connected my external monitor (LG) to my new Macbook Pro 15" laptop, using the adaptor for VGA...the display now has a large black bar along the left side. No adjustment on the monitor will fix it, no "options" on System Prefs either...any ideas?

I've just purchased a new Macbook Pro, and connected it ot my external monitor (24" LG HD) using an Apple VGA adaptor. The only resolution that looks good is the 1920 x 1080, but the image does not entirely fill the screen. There is a large black gap on the left side of the screen now. It worked fine with my "last generation" Macbook Pro...no adjustment on the monitor will help, and cannot find any System Setting in displays such as "options" or widescreen setting. I've gone to the LG site, but no "Mac" related tech support issues come up...no forum here seems to deal with this particular issue either...any ideas?

I have the same thing but with a 23 inch HP, worked fine with my MBP 13 from 2009 but the 2011 2.4 i5 does the exact same thing as yours!

Web pages are printed incorrectly, i.e. left side of page in p.1, right side on page 2. This started recently. Correct printer is identified.

Firefox recently updated. Now, printing a web page results in left side printed on p.1, right side on page 2. Using the same Canon D9000 printer. Selecting horizontal format causes the left side of page to be printed 1/2 size on 1/4 page! Printing same web page with IE is OK. Printing from MS`Word is OK.

All web pages? Or just some? Example of a page where that happens?
Do those pages have '''Frames'''? IOW, is the '''Print Frames''' section in the print dialog available (not greyed-out) for selecting '''''Each frame separately'''''?
If that isn't a Frames issue, my advice is to do the '''reset''' described here.

How can I display all bookmarks on left side of window without opening library?

I usually have a bookmarks view (NOT the toolbar) open in the left side of the Firefox window. It shows all my bookmarks, much as the library view does, but not in a separate window. After Firefox crashed, I restarted a "new session" and the bookmarks were not visible. The help files only talk about the bookmarks toolbar, not what I'm looking for.

You can open the Bookmarks in the sidebar via View > Sidebar > Bookmarks (Ctrl+B) 
Press F10 or press and hold the Alt key down to bring up the "Menu Bar" temporarily.
You can find toolbar buttons to open the bookmarks and the history in the sidebar in the toolbar palette and drag them on a toolbar. 
Firefox 4 has two bookmark buttons with a star in the Customize window. 
One star button has a drop marker that open a Bookmark menu. 
The other star button without the drop marker opens the bookmarks in the sidebar.

The problem of tracks becoming de-linked between iTunes and the music files in your iTunes music folder happens for different reasons - this seems to come up fairly commonly in this forum.
The solution can be to locate each song in the iTunes library, as you mentioned - or, but wait, before I get to that...
trouble finding the original track in your iTunes music folder? maybe look for it under compilations, or if not using the 'group compilations preference' then look in the folder under the songs artist name, but what song artist name iTunes uses depends on what you have in the metedata tag spot for album artist or song artist. Any varyation in artist name spelling, in the menu item 'get info' metadata for any selected individual track will cause iTunes to create that as a separate artist folder in the library, even names like 'various' or any difference at all (even the word 'the' can change where in your iTunes music folder a track gets placed by iTunes). You can try to use the finder function of find file (finder munu item outside of iTunes) to locate hard to find items.
Back to how to re-link any de-linked tracks .
There may be scripts that can help re-link de-linked music files - or, at least provide you a list of such files, Scripts are easy to install and use...

The startup manager loads but cannot display, all i get is a black screen and a message saying No signal

I have a mac mini that was just assigned to me to set up for my team at work to use when they are helping customers who have a mac. We need to have OS 10.8 and 10.9 on separate partitions, which I have set up. However when I launch the startup manager (holding option during startup) i get a blank screen and a message saying No Signal. I know the Startup manager has loaded because I can use the arrows to navigate blindly and I can successfully load either partition. I believe that it is a resolution issue. The monitor I have available can only display in 1440X1080 at 75 hz and I think that the startup manager must be loading at a higher resolution than this.
I have tried clearing P-ram and have searched ceaselessly to find someone who has had this same issue and no one else seems to have it.

I think the Startup screen is 800*600 normally, can you set the Startup partition in Sys Prefs>Startup Disk?
