Certificate Widget, logo and signature options

Hi there,
I am using CP7 and inserted a certificate widget. From the options, I selected a logo and a signature file. Once published and played, the logo was incredibly small and the signature was hugely displayed across the top. (see pic)
I played around with resizing both logo and signature files but this didn't resolve the issue.
Here are the widget properties.
Any thoughts?

Where'd you get the certificate widget from? The provider would likely be the best to answer...
Otherwise, my only thought is the 'resolution' of the image. What's the DPI for both? '72' is a good general number. If the signature is, say, 300dpi that may be why its so large...

Microphoto freezing at logo, and recovery options don't w

Hey guys, a couple weeks ago in school I dropped my Zen photo and ever since then it'll freeze at the logo. The only way I can get the logo to go away is by plugging it in the wall, to charge it, then turn it on while it's charging. This brings me to the recovery screen. Whenever I select an option, it'll stay in the act of w/e option I selected indefinitely and its pissing me off. Any one with the same problem? How much is it to send my Creative in for repairs?

It's sort of like a computer when the hard dri've dies- you can get to the BIOS screen [the Zen/Recovery screen], but not much farther before it hangs. Dropping hard dri'ves is usually bad for them, unfortunately, it's probably damaged.
If running Disk Clean Up, Formatting & Reload Firmware don't work, the hard dri've is likely damaged by the fall.

There are two types of signatures in PDF: electronic signatures, which are just images (stamps, text, image) and digital signatures.
If you want to use electronic signatures in Acrobat XI go to Fill&Sign->Place Signature. If a drag rectangle for the digital signature dialog comes up, you have selected digital signatures and Acrobat/Reader remembered it. Cancel it, go back to Fill&Sign->Place Signature and click a triangle to the left of "Place Signature". Then click on "Changed Saved Signature" and select the electronic signature type you want to use.
If you want to use digital signatures you can create custom digital signature appearance. Go to Edit->Preferences->Signatures->Creation&Appearance->More. In the "Appearances" section click "New". You will be presented with the dialog that allows you to create a custom appearance. If you want to put there your picture or image of your ink signature, you need to prepare this image as a file beforehand, select "Image" radio button, browse to the location of your image file. In Reader you can use only PDF as your image file. In Acrobat you can use many more file formats: JPEG, PNG, etc.

Strange workaround, but just checked it and it works (even for responsive project): you can drag the Signature, I dragged it as far out as possible (to the bottom) and when previewing the Certificate it was gone.
Do you need a widget? It is not that easy if you need it both for SWF and HTML output because I'm aware at this moment of only very few widgets available on the market. You can create a slide with all you need, using the quizzing system variables and a button with a JS to print?

What you need is merged help.
You generate a parent and all the child projects. You always install the parent and then whichever child projects you require. The TOC, search and index automatically adjust. See the pages on my site.
Note though that many people take another view to your Product Development. Show all the help and then people see information about something and realise they need it!

Im sorry to hear that. You need to restore like brad said.
But you can restore from a latest backup from itunes after restore. I hope you had a recent backup made.

Certificate widget and SCORM reporting in Captivate 5

I have been trying to make the Moodle (1.9) Gradebook accurately report SCORM 1.2 results with no success. In desperation I have redesigned the project using a certificate widget, but I can't get that to work either! Please can someone direct me to a working fix? I have tried the fix mentioned by Xeon64 here http://forums.adobe.com/message/3867196#3867196 but when I try to use the widget I get an 'invalid widget' error message. I'd prefer not to have to rebuild the entire project a third time in Captivate 4, which seemed to work ok for me.
A working solution will earn you eternal gratitude from a desperate ID!

To be quite honest, I've never taken to using the Certificate widget. I've seen so many complaints about it on the forums that I've deliberately avoided it.
On the last project I worked on, the client wanted a certificate that was populated with the user's name, employee id, site location, and course completion status. But they specifically wanted to prevent one user from just altering the data and printing out certificates for other users. So they also didn't want the user And the client also wanted an email to be automatically sent with all the same data to their training department so that personnel records could be updated at the same time. But they wanted to have this email sent automatically without user intervention to prevent similar falsification of course completion.
The current certificate widget wasn't able to give me all these fields and email functionaltiy. So I ended up cobbling together my own solution using a widget from Jim Leichliter that allowed me to output User Variables as query strings on a URL so that I could pass data from the course to a PHP page on my website that first sent an email to training and then redirected to another HTM page with the Certificate and it's fields containing the user's completion data.
Jim also has another widget that creates a PDF export page that can also serve as a course completion certificate. If I were you, I'd be looking into that widget to see if it would do what you want.

Certificate Widget and Random Question Slides

I am in the process of evaluating Captivate 4. Twice now I have had an issue with using the random question slides with the certificate widget. In both cases I converted a Captivate 3 course in which the random question slides and corollary question pools had worked as they should. In both, I successfully added the certificate widget to the new course (Captivate 4) following the instructions in help.
In the first course, only one question pool would work. The others simply showed up as a blank slide. I was able to fix that by merging all the questions into the one working question pool. Wasn't the way I had wanted to randomize the questions, but it allowed me to publish the course. The certificate widget did work.
In the second course, none of the questions pools are working and the published version of the course skips right past the random questions that had been interspersed after each topic area. One again, this course had worked just fine in Captivate 3 and with Captivate 4, without the certificate widget. I do not wish to combine all the questions into one question pool. As I noted, I published the course without the widget and the questions worked just fine.
This leads me to believe that I am doing (or not doing) something when I include the widget that is causing the problem. I can't imagine what that would be, but the fact that no one else seems to have posted this issue makes me think it is something I'm doing.
I am not using an LMS. I'm publishing to .html file that resides on our LAN.

Why and How to get certificate and signature for midlet application. I have just void knowledge about that.

Basically you would need certificates so that your midlet may access restricted API's such as sms and cbs (JSR-120) and file system access (JSR-75). If you have signed your midlet you can avoid annoying questions asking you whether you would allow access to such APIs.
Certificates for code signing can be obtained from either Thawte or VeriSign (other providers also exist), the certificate you choose depends on which handsets you would like to support. Handsets support different certificates for code signing.

Adobe Captivate 7: How to Customize Certificate Widget

I can only add (1) additional variable option in a certificate widget text fields. How can I add more variables on the certificate? I need these variables to print out on the certificate when the learner selects the print button. Is it possible to add a company logo onto the certificate that will print also.

Not all video files are created equal. Captivate has in the past shown a preference for certain encoding in FLVs and F4V video files. It's recommended that any video you want to use with Captivate be encoded via the Adobe Media Encoder app that comes with Captivate.
Even the fact that your FLV was encoded with some other Adobe app, does not guarantee it will work with Captivate. (Don't get me started on that.) So try re-encoding your FLV with AME and then see if that improves your chances of embedding the link.

Need Certificate Widget for Cap 5 with Auto Date

Okay, folks--I've spent a half day on this and it's time to throw up my hands. I've wandered all over the internet, sure I would find the answer, but no.
I'm not a Flash developer or a code afficianado. I'm just your average instructional designer trying to get along with Captivate 5. I don't want to create a bunch of new stuff. I want the functionality there for me. I did research and try to see what it would take for me to develop my own certificate widget, but it sort of defeats the whole rapid e-learning premise, if you know what I mean!
I just want a certificate of completion widget that A) allows the user to enter his name B) autofills the date C) actually inserts my logo instead of asking for the file and then doing nothing with it C) prints out when you click the print button. Where can I put my hands on such a widget that will function in CAPTIVATE 5?
(Why, OH WHY, doesn't the certificate of completion work the way it did in Captivate 4? In desperation, I tried loading the widget that was used for 4, but it's not happy in 5. And WHY would you have it available in the award certificate and not the completion certificate? I don't want to AWARD them. I want to acknowleded that they successfully completed a tutorial.)

By the way the certificate widget doesn't work using the instructions in "Using Adobe Captivate 5" manual (which are actually 4s instructions), no blank slide with a variable of v_Name is required.
The correct instructions for 5 are:
Insert a blank slide after the quiz result and insert the certificate widget, choose the layout and add information:
·         Name of the course
·         Date on which the course was taken or leave default dates which fill in automatically upon completion
·         Signature of Authority
Once published, before the certificate is displayed, there is an auto generated page by the widget requiring the user to input a name, and to use the Submit button. The name automatically is inserted on the Certificate. It can also be tested by Previewing it.
Note: This still didn't work for me after I had set up the certificate widget according to the manual and after much research I found that if you have already created a variable in Project/Variables named v_Name, in order to get the certificate to work in Captivate 5 the variable needs to be removed from Project/Variables.
Captivate may tell you it can't remove the variable and that it is attached to a slide, however once you remove the slide that it was used on and delete it from the library you can remove the variable. As a precaution, I shut down Captivate and reopened it to clear any temp memory, then checked to see if the variable was gone and it was. At that point I inserted the certificate following the instructions above and it worked correctly.

Can not keep drawable signature option in reader on a form with a mailto: submit button added.

I hope someone has run into this. I have acrobat 11.0.10 to create fill-able forms and reader 11.0.10 to view and fill them. Do to the nature of the forms a drawn signature is required and is available right up until I add a submit button with a mailto: action. Then all that is available in the reader is the digital certificate. I should add that I save the form without reader extensions. Is there a way to add the auto-adressed mailto function for the person filling the form and still keep the drawable signature option for signing?

No longer able to place my "Draw my signature" option.

For years now I have been signing my PDF's with the signature I drew within Acrobat. But the last week or two. That option has not been available to me. Acrobat appears to only want me to place a certificate style signature. I do not want this. Can I reset Adobe Acrobat so I can use the "Draw my signature" option? I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro

Sorry I took a while to get back to you, but my family visited from New Jersey and Indiana and I have one child who lives near me and we were all busy and one family arrived ill. That was followed soon after by a leak in a pipe in my yard that bled out $400 worth of water in a week. With sick people in the house and the city turning off the water. So, my computer problems took a comfortable back seat.
I know the CS4 is old, but it worked a month ago before I got a new hard drive. I still have the same OS (Windows 7 Pro), so I know that's not it. I think it just installed with some quirks. I'd reinstall, but PhotoTools has to be installed after it. I had to call them up and get them to authenticate the product key and if I reinstall CS4, I'll have to do the same with PhotoTools and then fight with them again to authenticate it. I'm hoping to find a fix without a reinstall. That's for PhotoShop. As far as InDesign, it was reading docx'es a month ago, so that's not it either. I also don't want to upgrade because I'm an old lady and am used to functioning effectively with CS4. I've had PhotoShop since 01991. Back when PageMaker (the precursor of InDesign) was owned by Aldus.
I can do workarounds for these issues, but I just want to be able to work the way I was before. Oh God of the cyberheavens, why can't it be easy? There is also no way to get an answer from Adobe. They don't support previous versions. If you have any other insights, I'm here, open to the possibilities.
