Certification Hands-on Requirement

Trying for 11g Database OCP certification. I'm so very confused as to which training format will satisfy the requirement.
Per http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D50079GC20 ;
Only instructor-led inclass or instructor-led online formats of this course will meet the Certification Hands-on Requirement. Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement.Does that mean only
Schedule/Purchase Training Formats        Price          Duration Course Materials Instruction Language
View Schedule       Classroom Training     US$ 3,250  5 Days    English             English
View Schedule       Live Virtual Class        US$ 3,250  5 Days    English  will satisfy the requirement?
The ones on the below will not?
Schedule/Purchase Training Formats         Price          Duration         Course Materials Instruction Language
Purchase Online      Self Study CD-ROM    US$ 1,650   not applicable  English
Purchase Online      Training on Demand   US$ 3,250  5 Days            English   Can someone please verify? Or suggests someone I should contact?

It is currrently proably safeest to assume it will not satisfy, as I currently know of no authorative document that indicates that it will.

Can someone please verify? Or suggests someone I should contact? The certification forum modaterator usually monitors this and willl usually give a quick authorative response to a qestion like this, but she could at any point in time be taking holiday etc.
... In general she will usually reply in a couple of workng days; but she may need to wait a little to check hings for certain before giving an authorative answer.
Otherwise you could raise a support call: http://education.oracle.com/pls/eval-eddap-dcd/OU_SUPPORT_OCP.home?p_source=OCP It you cna wait a couple of days it may be worthwihile to see if he certifcation forum moderator replies first.

  • OCP 9i Certification Hands On Requirement

I have done all the exams for Oracle 9i certification (OCP) track and want to do the Hangs On Requirement course. Could somebody let me know whether there are other Oracle partners/etc (other than doing it from Oracle) that I can go to, to complete my certification. Please let me know the web addresses if known. I am residing in Arizona.
    Thanks in advance.
    Kanchi

    Go to http://education.oracle.com
    Click on Certification,
Click on Exams (menu), Hands on course Requirements
Click on Oracle9i Database Administrator Certified Professional
Expand Database, expand Oracle9i Database Administrator Certified Professional
Look through the list, check schedule for your area.
The Hands On Course must be an official Oracle University course. However, there are a lot of Oracle Partners who delver it in various areas.
You can NOT take a course designed by another company and have that accredited.

  • Hands on requirement for java certification

which java certifications do exactly have an hands on requirement?
    because if i look here
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=320
it says i just need to take the exam to become certified. other certifications have assignments and more exam but nowhere is an hands-on requirement listed (that i could find)
however if i look here http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D61748GC10
it says "This course counts towards the Hands-on course requirement for the Java SE 6 Developer Certification. Only instructor-led inclass or instructor-led online formats of this course will meet the Certification Hands-on Requirement. Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement."
So my question is where exactly can i find which certification has which hands-on requirement. i wouldn't want to start on the self-study (or a non-official course) just to find out that i need the real course to get my certification.

Without looking at specifics .... i am not massively up to speed with the Java certifictions, one key point is the the hands on requirement is about to change.

  • Reg: Hands on Requirement for OCP Certification in 10G

    Hai all,
I am called Prabhu Prashant.R I Live in India(in Chennai). I've passed OCA in 10G and waiting to attend OCP. I am preparing by myself. but you all know that Oracle is insisting to complete a Hands on Requirement Course for certification Purpose. My question is should I complete the course only from OU or can I complete that course in any of the Workforce Development Partner. If there are any one existing in India, learned people please provide me the name of them. I could not afford OU courses because It costs a Hefty. Please Help!!!!.

You can take a required course not only at Oracle University, but also from the Oracle Authorized Center.

  • Hands on requirement ahead of test

Every time I take a test, I see my test results on Pearson site in 24hrs and another 24hrs later on Certview site. I saw my certification status as OCA on Certview site right when my exam results showed up as PASS under exam history.
I have submitted my hands on requirement well ahead of my tests and I see that as PASS under exam history. Now I see the test required for OCP on Certview site under exam history, it shows as PASS and still the certification status as OCA.
What I wonder is: Just because I submitted my hands on form before fulfilling the exam requirements, am I supposed to resubmit the hands on requirement form?
    Thanks

In order to speak to your specific situation, we would need your Oracle Testing ID so that we could look up your account in CertView. Please do not provide that here. You can contact [email protected] if you need assistance on your specific issue.
In general, however, you only need to submit the course form once. And it is fine to submit it before passing your exams. It will show up in your CertView profile as an 'exam' with a 'pass.' But a certification will not be granted until you have passed the required exams

  • 9i OCP hand-on requirement fullfillment

    Hi ,
I have completed all the 4 oracle exams for OCP from prometric. For the hands on requirement I am trying to submit it through Pearson VUE and in the last screen it is asking for a 7 digit enrollment number.where as the training partner where I took the training has given a longer alpha numeric registration number.
Any of you know a solution to this please let me know.
    Thanks in advance,
    Balaji

    Hi Brandye,
Thanks for the information , you were spot on I completed the course submission form as suggested and it got approved quickly after the verification.
I have one more question for you , I have also completed the "1Z0-040-Oracle Database 10g: New Features for Administrators" exam. But certview only shows my 9i OCP and the 10G OCP is not showing up.Does it involve any other prcocess to acquire the 10G OCP.

    Oracle Certification/Support Team!
I have submitted Hands on Course Form thru Pearson VUE Login Credentials, as a result I got the message from [email protected] to provide Course Certificate "Needs Your Attention" for the applied OCP-DBA Certification on Oracle 11g.
Hence, I sent the scanned copy of the Course Attendance Certificate to [email protected], as a result I got immediate system generated response from Oracle "Please Allow 5 Days For A Response"  But, after 12 days (9 working days) I am unable to get the response from Oracle.
What is wrong in this process, I sent an email reminder TODAY (Sept. 18, 2013) and submitted a Service Request using CertView Login Credentials and YET TO GET A RESPONSE. Anybody from Oracle Certification Support Team can resolve this issue, please?
I will appreciate the response from OCP Support Team!
this is not the "OCP Support Team".   This is simply a forum platform provided by Oracle for the use of their user base to be able to support each other without unduly clogging the official support channel.  There are very few people here who are oracle employees, and those that are are un-identified as such and are NOT here in their official capacity as Oracle employees.

  • Can 10g course be used for 11g ocp hands on requirement?

    Hi,
I recently cleared 1z0-051 and 1z0-052 and awaiting OCA certificate.
    Congratulations.
Can any one please assist and guide me on how to proceed to 1z0-053 as Oracle University in my area is not offering any 11g course yet; they are still offering 10g courses?
    Thats unfortunate ...
Can I confirm you have checked ...
and checked your country and selected course schedule. I dont know what your country is but i see both India and Saudi Arabia are offering 11g courses.
You could try contacting your local Oracle university by phone, other options might be a Live Virtual Class instructor led course which i believe still satifies the requirement, or attending a course out of country / area.
I do not see any 10g course on list of courses for 11g hands on:
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5
    Agreed.
My question is, should i invest on 10g hand on to pursue 11g ocp?
In my opinion probably not. But I dont know your exact situation.
One option would be to sit 1z0-042 .. ( i think the topics are 80% common with 1z0-052) , so if your head is currently filled with 1z0-052 then its possilby not too difficult to adject to 1z0-042 ... checkout the topics. You could then take 1z0-043 , take 10g training to get your 10g OCP, then take 1z0-050 to get your 11g OCP. Thats a long way round and a lot of exams to get to 11g OCP from where your are, and if you've not much experience of earlier versions of Oracle you might want to stick with 11g so you dont get confused between slight differences between the two.
Another thing to note is that the 1z1-053/1z0-053 has today 30-jun-2009 finished beta ... so it will not now be possilble to take 1z0-053 until the production exam is released which should be sometime in september, and you may want to plan round that.
If you really cant see any 11g courses , and have contacted your local Oracle University, then you could go to [www.oracle.com/education/certification] and look up the FAQ's under support and if your're really stuck then use support/contact-us.
    thanks and kind regards,
    Moiz

  • Which web page explicitly tells us about the hands-on requirement for OCP u

(Kind-a in a rush, so I have not done an exhaustive search.)
The request is: Please provide an Oracle site reference that explicitly indicates the upgrade from OCP 10g to OCP 11g does or does not require attendance to an approved ILT course.
    Pages searched so far:
The above page discusses the recommended training. But need to takle that training is 'recommended'[, not explicitly included/excluded.
The above page is for fresh OCP and does not discuss OCP upgreade at all. (It DOES discuss OCM upgrade.)
    - http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A (FAQ)
This is now generated and no longer searchable. However the section on "Completing the Course Submission Form" does not include/exclude upgrades from requiring a new course attendance.
"The Course Submission Form is the final requirement in obtaining *most* OCP and OCM certifications as well as some Oracle Expert Program certifications"

    Certification Forum Moderator wrote:
You bring up a good point that this should be made clear on our upgrade page that training is not required for certification upgrade. We'll make that notation on this page to be more clear.Personal feeling is that training IS required to approach the upgrade exam. But I admit I am biased. ;-) perhaps something like:
"A hands-on course, such as the Oracle Education 'New Features' course for DBAs is highly recommended when preparing to challenge the OCP upgrade exam. However the candidate does not need to submit a Course Submission Form to apply for the OCP Upgrade after successfully completing the upgrade exam and meeting the other prerequisites."

  • Oracle 11g Certification and Workshop Requirement

    Hello,
I have recently cleared below Oracle Exams.
    1Z0-051 (SQL Fundamentals)
    1Z0-052 (Oracle 11g Admin I)
1Z0-053 (Oracle 11g Admin II) - Cleared in May 2013
I haven't completed the Workshop requirement which indicates I am not OCP as of now.
Question is, is there any specific time limit within which I have to complete the Workshop? Specifically can I wait for another 6 months before completing the Workshop?
If I can wait for 6 months, is there any chance OU will stop offering these workshops in next 6 months (by Dec 2013)?
    Thanks

There is no time limit. But more importantly, you do not need to attend either of the DBA workshop courses. There are many courses which will meet the requirement. As you have the knowledge to  have passed the exams, you should attend a more advanced course. Perhaps the Database Performance Tuning course, or (if you want a shorter and  cheaper one) SQL Statement Tuning.

  • 10g OCP hands on Requirement

    Hell All,
Is it okay to have this (Oracle Database 10g : backup and recovery) course as hands on course to fulfill 10g OCP credential?
from below website i can see they have given it in the list but one of Oracle Office, to whom i'm communicating is not sure though.
Actually they have not (Oracle Database 10g : backup and recovery course) displayed it the main list but just below the list, there is SHOW/HIDE text, in that list they mentioned it saying if you do it for OCP exam then you cannot use it for OCM.
Bit confused. Any clarification would useful.
BTW i'm enrolling for LVC( Live Virtual course).
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=244#5
    Regards!

I've enrolled for LVC course http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getSchedPage?page_id=4&dc=D50367GC80 starting on 25th Jul-2012. Price 750 USD Apprx.
Yes, you can clear 1z0-042 first and then complete the course.
I Cleared 1z0-042 and 1z0-043 first and now enrolled for the above course.

looking at the 4 reccommended courses, looks like none of them are self-study? i HAVE to take the instructor-led course that costs at min of $1800 in order to clear this exam?

--RuchiOracle training is probably the best quality training for the exam but there is no mandatory need to take it before taking this exam.
The Hands on Course requirement is for (DBA OCP) certification purposes and is independent of any particular exam. What it is trying to say is attending this course will meet the Hands on requirement for those seeking Oracle DBa certification.
Browsing the forum announcement posts and [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] may help. The blog here will also help. [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/07/oracle_certification_and_the_h.html]
So yes you can self study completely for this exam if you want and you feel you are capable of it. See also [http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/2009/05/the_route_you_choose.html] for further study tips.

  • OCA general question

    hi every body !
m a newbie preparing for oracle OCA ...
i wanted to ask a simple question.. i have searched abt it and found this at oracle uni regarding DBA fundamentals 1 exam ...
Oracle9i Database Administration Fundamentals I (Database and Grids)
This course counts towards the Hands-on course requirement for the Oracle 9i Database Administrator Certification. Only instructor-led inclass or instructor-led online formats of this course will meet the Certification Hands-on Requirement. Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement for certification.
my question is is it necessary to attend some instructor led training ?
or can we pass it by using self study cd rom
thnx in advance for any guidance u provide ....
    regards !

    @shaaquille
It's just some good advice and you'll need to take it very serious in (the near?) in the future.
If you want to learn it the hard way or the right way is up to you.
Just trying to explain that by using IM speak, you'll get less response to your questions in the end/on the long run:
Your resultset will be much much smaller, whereas 'resultset' stands for:
    - People who will respond to your questions since they understand what you mean.
    vs.
    - People who won't respond to your questions since they don't understand at all what you mean.
So: in a way: IM speak is a predicate on your query(='question').
You limit the results of possible answers by using it.
All clever people who have earned their skills refrain from using IM speak.
Just so they can be clear, to-the-point and being understood in many countries over the world.
Just so they cannot be misunderstood.
Don't forget: OTN is 24/7 worldwide, it's international.
Tom Kyte wouldl probably make fun of you (and he does it terribly well ;) ), if you'd ever get the chance to ask him a tough question using the same way of expressing yourself as you do now.
SQL or PL/SQL wouldn't do anything as well (except raising errors), if you don't use the correct syntax and make up your own shortcuts...
What you ask has got to be 'parsed' by other readers and if you add some IM speak layer on top of it, many 'compilers' outside your near 'hood' won't be able to parse it, while on the other hand you might have gotten a great answer...

THxNo, for your practical purposes there is no expire date. So you have no worries there.
I say for practical purposes, because at some point the 9i and then eventually the 10g certifications will be retired ... however 3 months notice will be given of this, but I suspect that is years and years ahead before retirement 9g certifications and many more years before the retirement of the 10g certifications (8i certification have only recently been retired)
    However ....
What is very very useful for you to do, if you have not done so already, is to complete your hands-on course. This means you will get your OCP certificate a little quicker.
Checkout the certification FAQ's currently here : [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=82#5Q1A] and about completing your hands on requirement form here [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=99].
This form is a questionaire in the form of a test with 30 minutes to complete .... make sure you have your information at hand before you start and view over the associated tutorial before you begin.
