Change Default Color Profile in New Image Document ?

I've looked and looked, and even Googled.  Anyone know how to change the default color profile when you start a New image file?  In CS5 mine defaults to sRGB (Under the Advanced drop down) but my CS6 is ProPhoto RGB which means I have to change it manually nearly every time I paste an image copied via right click in a web browser.

I think it the same on windows. If I copy things to the clipboard with Photoshop that the document profile seem to be used there when I do a paste there are no color issues.  However if I use Prtscn or Alt+PrtScn to capture screen content.  I'll see that the colors are wrong when I paste the clipboard into a new document if my default color space is not sRGB. Then I need to assign sRGB to the document to correct the colors.
If I paste a screen capture into the current document the color can be very off and I will not get a prompt on the color mismatch. Therefore I don't think a screen capture has any profile associated with it. And of course the screen has a much lower resolution then the images I edit. So there is also a big size difference. Here is one scaled to 100% zoom after the paste. You can see both the color and resolution difference.  This capture was assigned to sRGB so you will see what the screen looks like after the paste and zoom to 100%.

  • Selected color profile for new images from "clipboard" is wrong in CS6

    I have given up trying to find the answer to this myself.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Take a screenshot of something in your web browser (macintosh CMD+SHIFT+4) to the clipboard.
    2. Select File > New from the menu. Clipboard should be the selected Preset.
    3. Notice how in CS6 the color profile under "Advanced" is "Display" and NOT "sRGB" — in CS5 it is sRGB.
    4. Paste from the clipboard into your new document and get the color profile mis-match warning if you are in CS6.
    It is either not picking the color space of the clipboard properly like it will in CS5, or I am missing something somewhere.
    Nothing I do in an attempt to fix this is working. I have sRGB set as my default profile in color settings, and nothing I do changes this setting for the "Clipboard" preset.
    I am getting sick of forgetting to manually select "sRGB" every time, opening up a new document sized to my clipboard and then getting the color profle mismatch warning when I paste in the clipboard contents!
    I take so many screenshots as I develop websites this is a CONSTANT problem as I am constantly creating new documents from the clipboard to check alignments, zoom in to get color samples, and many other reasons.

    That helps a little. It explains why "Display" is selected when I create a new from the clipboard in PS.
    The ColorSync profile from a screenshot opened in the Preview App shows up as "Color LCD" in the inspector.
    So, I assume what is happening in PS is that the new document is being created in the working color space and my clipboard contents don't match that and therefore causes the warning?
    I could see getting a warning if I create a new document from the clipboard in PS and it embeds the "Display" profile within it, and then I try and paste something which has an sRGB (or other) embedded profile, but I was assuming the new document from the clipboard contents would have the same color profile as the clipboard contents.
    I just don't get why I get a warning when I create the new document and the very first thing I try and do is paste the clipboard contents into said document.
    However, when I select "sRGB" from the dropdown list instead of "Display" in the PS dialogue box it does not give me the mismatch warning.
    Although the warning does say my source and destination document are both using the "Display" profile but my working space is sRGB.
    The more I think about it, I may have just checked the "Don't show again" box in CS5 if I ever had the same issues and therefore never dealt with that again!
    I am going to go read as much as I can about the color profiles in PS. I used to deal with this a lot as a print designer but not so much anymore working in UI design. I only really look into these issues when I get weird color shifts on saved files and things of that nature.
    Thanks for taking the time to explain some things!

  • Change default display profile (colors are horrible)

    Hi there,
    A few weeks ago I baught a 15" Macbook Pro, but then I noticed the colors were horrible. Way too much brown/gray. I'm not exaggerating. Compared to my normal monitor it look's awfull, and compared to other Macbooks too!
    So I tried to make my own color profile, and it looks better. Still not as perfect as it should be... Maybe go back to the store?
    Anyways, I want to override the default color profile with my profile, so the Login screen and other accounts have more realistisc colors. Couldn't find any simple way to do that.
    Could anybody help me? I'm new to OSX.

  • Remove color profile from an image

    How to remove color profile from an image is it possible through any script?
    Manual Try - Don't Color Manage this Document: option is used to instruct Photoshop to remove an existing embedded profile but when I save the file, close and open it I still see a color profile in the embedded image.

    On the mac you could have sips do this (it may depend on the file type). You would loose the files creator if Photoshop was its last editor though.

  • How can I check the color profile for the current document?

    I'd like to create a script that checks the current document's color profile and checks it against a string, for example "sRGB IEC61966-2.1". My studio has a script that performs various functions to make sure that all the layers are visible/unlocked, checks for stray points, etc., and we'd like to add a check to the color profile because we handle a large number of files and this setting is overlooked a lot.
    It's alright if this value isn't writable through script (we can just pop up an alert letting the user know that they need to change it), but I can't find where to actually read this setting! We're currently working on Macs and with JavaScript, but any nudge in the right direction would be great.
    Thanks!

    The Annoyance Factor. The idea was to add the color profile check once an illustrator is finished with a particular file as a kind of "clean up" before they save and move on to something else. My options as of right now are:
    Create a script that saves the file in Illustrator and then closes the document, opens Photoshop if it wasn't open already (wait to load), opens the file in Photoshop (wait to load), change the color profile, and save (wait for the extra save).
    Create a script that pops up an alert that says, "Check that your color profile is set to sRGB IEC61966-2.1". And the illustrator will check, save the file, and move on.
    We have close to 30 people working on several files every day so wasting all that time waiting for files to load and save in a different application adds up in man-hours pretty quick. In this particular case, getting our people to do it is more efficient.

  • How can I change the color of the new tab button?

    Hi,
    I was wondering if there was a way to change the color of the new tab button, list all tab button, and tab groups button. I have been searching for personas that don't make it hard to see those particular buttons for days now, but since I can't seem to find any I was hoping there was a way to change those buttons' colors to make them more visible with the personas.
    [http://i54.tinypic.com/2ui9351.jpg Here's a picture of the situation]
    I want to change those 3 buttons (and the "show more bookmarks" button that appears when the window is too small to show them all) to white or some other more visible color. I know there's a way to change the background of those buttons, but I'd prefer if I could change the '+' button itself in the new tab button for example. Is there any way to do it? Because it's so hard to find personas that don't make it hard to see text or buttons.
    Thanks.

  • How to Change the color of the black image

    Hi,
    I have created a black image. But want to insert some text and chnage the color of the same. I am trying to do it, by usign various classes of javax.imageio.*, java.awt.image. But, I have not the required output till now. I am showing my code below. The image I created is totally black.
    Any suggestion greatly appreciated.
    File f = new File("C:/tomcat5.5.15/apache-tomcat-5.5.16/webapps/plugintest/03974701.jpg");
    BufferedImage image = ImageIO.read(f);
    int height = image.getHeight();
    int width = image.getWidth();
    int type = image.getType();
    ColorModel cm = image.getColorModel();
    System.out.println("Width of the Image is "+width);
    System.out.println("Height of the Image is "+height);
    System.out.println("type of the Image is "+type);
    BufferedImage image1 = new BufferedImage(width,height,type);
    //image1.setRGB(45,45,rgb);
    File f1 = new File("blank.jpg");
    RenderedImage ri = image1;
    ImageIO.write(ri,"jpg",f1);

    Color c = new Color(0, 0, 0);
    Graphics g = image1.getGraphics();
    g.setColor(c);Thanks for your suggestion I added these lines to the
    code(code is shown above), but the there is no change
    in the color of the jpg image saved in the file. Am I
    missing something.Yes.
    a) Do you know what color 0,0,0 is? Hint: not mauve
    b) When you call set color that sets the drawing colour. But you aren't drawing anything. You can draw things with the methods of Graphics and Graphics2D. I suggest starting with fillRect

  • How to assign a specific color profile to an image?

    I am in the process of submitting an image electronically.
    They want me to submit images that have the color profile "ISO Coated v2 ECI".
    My image has the color profile "Adobe RGB (1998)", according to File Info, and according to Preview.
    I have downloaded the color profile from eci.org and put them in /Library/Color Sync/Profiles.
    When I open the image in ColorSync Utility, I can see the profile under 'Profiles'.
    However, when I try to assign or match or apply the profile to the image in ColorSync, it does not "stick".
    With 'Match to Profile', I can select the profile (in the dropdown menu under 'Output'). But when I then save the image (using Save, Save As.., or Export..) it seems like it does not put that profile in the image, i.e., when I open the new image using Preview, I still get the "Adobe RGB (1998)" profile.
    Same with 'Apply Profile'.
    With "Assign profile", the profile I want is greyed out.
    I also tried Pixelmator, but that does not offer me the profile "ISO Coated v2 ECI".
    Am I missing something?
    Could some kind soul please shed some light on this?
    Or point me to the right web page or forum?
    All insights and suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

    Thanks for your response.
    But, first of all, the profile I want to "set" is not in that list in Preview.
    Second, I believe now that I don't need to just *assign* the profile, I need to *match* the image to it (the profile is an output profile).

  • What is Acrobat's Default Color Profile?

    Hello,
    We have a client's client who used a novice graphic designer who didn't color manage, and created a PDF containing colors that the client is pleased with. Trouble is, we have no idea what the desiner assumed as the color profile and the color profile that the client's Acrobat defaults to when displaying the PDF. And now we're having trouble recreating a PDF that the client deems matching. Our office has long since switched to ProPhoto RGB as our default RGB color profile, so we don't know what Adobe Acrobat ships with as its default (assumed) color profile when there are none embedded/assigned in the PDF (ours is now ProPhoto RGB).
    1. Can someone who's not monkeyed with their color settings open up their Acrobat and look under the Preferences (ctrl-k), and "color management" and let me know what the working spaces read?
    Also,
    2. Is there a way to know what (if any) color profile a PDF has embedded in it? I cannot seem to find it in the PDF's metadata, and typically play with the "output preview" settings until I find one that doesn't alter the appearance (not the most efficient).
    Thanks!

    DeviceRGB is the default condition for many PDF creation workflows as it was the very first one supported in PDF version 1.0. - because PostScript 1.0 initially supported DeviceRGB and DeviceGray, with DeviceCMYK arriving later. ICC-based spaces came in PostScript 2 (PDF 1.3).
    "Device..." spaces simply mean that the color data is preserved as-supplied from the original material - for example a scanner will see a particular red ink on the paper and record it with a certain RGB value. Unless that scan is subsequently assigned a calibration profile, the bitmap image may not look identical when re-printed but it is "accurate" in terms of what the scanner wrote to file. You can think of "Device..." spaces as being "raw data", so if you have two photographs on a PDF page, both from different sources but with DeviceRGB space, then pixels of (123,0,0) in each image will be an identical color on one particular user's monitor and printer. That color will only match the actuality of what was photographed (and what other users are seeing) if the user's display hardware is calibrated, but that's a different question entirely. Acrobat cannot correct for an uncalibrated monitor.
    In the very early says of PDF and PostScript it was adopted as a print/prepress format, so color accuracy was important and features such as Output Intents and PDF/X were rapidly developed. Now, the majority of PDF files are never printed and many are designed with on-screen display as the only planned use - where RGB and unmanaged colors are perfectly acceptable. Nobody will ever notice the difference between AdobeRGB and sRGB when peering at a PDF file on a cellphone, but embedding the profiles will dramatically increase the filesize.

  • How to change the color of the News content?

    Hi Friends,
    I have requirement that we have to change the color of the date of the news from blue #9999FF to Black #000000. Can any body tells how to do this?
    I have tried it by changing the theme but the color is always be same. Please help me to sort out from this problem.
    I will surely rewards the points
    Thanks and regards,
    Kuldeep Verma

    Dear Kuldeep,
    Go to Content Administration -> click on news on left plane.
    Edit the news you want to edit.
    now select the text and change the color of foreground.
    Do not select all and apply changes as your change will not take place that way.
    So do it by selecting line by line.
    Also if that doesnt work then Copy all the text of news in notepad.
    Delete all text
    Click on fore ground and select color as black
    type some random text see if color is black or not.
    then copy paste the text from notepad to this news.
    Save it and refresh your portal.
    Hope this will work

  • How to change the color of 1px_trans.gif image of interactive report

    Hi All,
    Iam using interactive report in apex3.2
    I need to change the color of 1px_trans.gif or remove the image in search tool bar
    where we can change.
    pls tell me .......
    Thanks & regards
    Balu..

    I need to change the color of 1px_trans.gif or remove the image in search tool bar 1px_trans.gif is transparent and doesn't have a colour. It is used as a shim image—an outdated way of controlling the dimension(s) of some element(s). It's intended to be invisible. Giving it colour will cause it to become visible, resulting in all sorts of unexpected and unwanted lines (or worse, solid areas of colour) appearing throughout applications.
    What do you think you want to do? (Whatever that is, it will almost certainly not be achieved by changing the colour of 1px_trans.gif...)

  • Change selective color(pixels) of an image.

    I want to change the selective color of an image to another desired color. I want to this in pixel's scope. If there is an image with three colors red(FF0000), green(00FF00) and yellow(FFFF00); in this case i want to change the color of red to blue, then the program should change all red pixels to blue(0000FF).
    I have to do this in an applet. Till date, i tried to implement the library function getRGB and setRGB but failed to do it completely.
    Any help (algorithm, approach, or code) will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Use the class RGBImageFilter. The API documentation has an example of use.

    hi! im looking forward to know how to change the default colors in pebrot (http://pebrot.sourceforge.net/) so it shows a transparent background in urxvt instead the default black solid color
    pebrot has a ~/.pebrot/pebrotrc file:

    col_error= yellow
    col_error_delim= red

    col_chat_bar_name= blue
    col_chat_bar_name_typing= green
    col_state_bar= blue

  • Change default colors of charts

    Hello everyone,
    is it possible to change the default background color and fonts color of charts? I know about changing the line colors (which I have already done according to our corporate design), but I did not find anything about setting background colors by default. We have two different themes (a dark and a bright one) and I don't want to copy the charts just to apply different colors to it.
    Thank you in advance
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    I understand that BI 11g, gives some standard colors to the chart (The first preference might be blue ;) If I remember correctly). However, say you would like to change the color of the chart to green, I think we cannot directly override its color. Instead we can take a approach of chart options based on position at http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/e10544/creatingviews.htm#CHDDEFEF
    As per the above link, we can give custom color to the bars based on the order they come up. Like in a group, 1st one blue, 2nd one green, 3rd yellow etc.
    So if you have only one bar per graph, use this setting to specify the graph color using position =1
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar
