Change fiscal year to 2006 in Asset Management : error in year-end closing

SAP version: 4.0B
Transaction Codes used: Year-end closing – AJAB, Fiscal year change – AJRW
We are trying to change the fiscal year to 2006 in Asset Management.
I tried to change the fiscal year to 2006 for the company code 0055 using transaction code AJRW. The test run has displayed an error message “Fiscal year change in co. code 0055 1 possible only after year-end closing 2004 2’.
I have used the transaction code OAAQ to find the out the fiscal year, the closing for depreciation area is successfully performed.
Unfortunately it is still showing ‘2003’ which should have been 2004 for company code 0055.
I tried to close the fiscal year 2004. The test run has completed successfully. I have scheduled the ‘RAJABS00’. The program has executed successfully with no errors or warnings.
The closing for depreciation area (Transaction – OAAQ) is still showing 2003 for company code 0055, which should have been changed to 2004.
I am new to Asset Management. Can you please give some suggestions on how to fix the problem and change the fiscal year to 2006.
Thank you,
Vidya

Hi,
Thank you very much for your prompt reply.
I have used transaction OAAR to check if any area is still open for previous years.
Surprisingly! The areas are closed only till 2003.
Can you please let me know what to do (transaction codes - programs) to close the areas for fiscal year 2004.
I am new to Asset Management. I think you are good in Asset Management. Can you please give some suggestions on how to close the fiscal year 2004.
Can you please let me know if I have to run any other transactions other than closing the areas before running the transaction to close the fiscal year 2004.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Vidya

  • ZENworks Asset Management 7.5 - Eval Question

We've been trialing several products and on the ZENworks Asset Managment
evaluation we ran into a few problems.
We run a mostly Mac shop. There are a handful of Windows machines and
plenty of Linux (Redhat & Debian) servers to go around.
I've gotten it all installed and installed the client on one of the OS X 10.5
machines. I see the zamclient running but I'm not even seeing the client
attempt to connect via the Collection Servers -> View Detailed Status window.
In the About ZENworks Asset Management withing the manager it has
    license information listed as below.
    Workstations 1
    UNIX/Linux Workstations 0
    Asset Inventory Evaluation
    Asset Management Evaluation
    UNIX/Linux Evaluation
Does that mean it will only find one workstation in evaluation mode and
that's why my other workstation with the zamclient installed won't show
    up?
    Thanks in advance,

The collection server will aslo have a log (something like collsvrcore and you should see the machine name in there as it talks to the client. If you're in there then determine if you have rights between the DB and collection server correct or that the port settings are correct.
I know this better actually doing than writing it here so others might provide you a more logical approach to troubleshoot. I will check in again later to see how you progressed.

I do appreciate your response, I'm sure all of that information will come in
handy when I do get a good evaluation license from them that allows Linux
    and UNIX support.
I finally reached some folks at Novell and got a little bit of pre-sales support.
From the sound of what they're telling me the evaluation license does not
turn on the linux/unix support and so I couldn't complete my evaluation
with it due to that. I've been working with them to get a more functional
    evaluation.

If anybody know about the name of the BC sets which need tio be activated for the configuration of Demand Notification and the PAM planning board that will also be very helpful.
We have activated the SAP Echancement package in the system ( log_EAM_PAM).
Kindly if anyone can help i will be very thankful to him / her.

  • Pool asset management planning board (PAM03)

    Hi experts,
PAM03 comes with default icons/labels for vehicle pooling. For example in the tool bar there is a filter for 'licence plate' or 'vehicles' for sorting. As you know the PAM can be used for variety of assets such as IT. I wanted to know if you've ever attempted to update the planning board to be used for assets other than vehicles.
I believe in note 1272432 there is mention to this functionality using function module PAMS_GRAPH_UC_OTHERS. I'm still trying to figure out how this works so any input is appreciated.
    Thanks

Hi PAM user, the steps necessary for PAM are described in the following places, at the sap Help portal

Make sure you activate the SAP Business Function for PAM, which is LOG_EAM_PAM (via transaction SFW5). This will also provide the right settings within config for the planning board and Pool Asset Management.
Only thing that does not automatically gets updates, is table PAMS_VSTAI, which needs to have the following entries:
Pool Asset Management   ABGH    04      Productive Split        I3908   Picked Up

  • How to change fiscal year to 2006 in AA module

    Dear Experts,
Due to the uploading problem, some of the net value of asset is '0'. Those data was uploaded in 2006. in 2007, then I realized the error and want to change the asset master data. When I click on save, the system prompt the error "Fiscal year 2006 is already closed in Financial Accounting".
How to check the fiscal year in Asset Accounting ?
    Please help.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You can undo fiscal year change in transaction code OAAQ (entire company code) or OAAR (By Area). Year end closing is executed using transaction code AJAB.

  • Asset Fiscal Year End Closing - Depreciation not posted completely in 2010

    Hi Experts,
I have an issue concerning AA 2010 year end closing, since there is one asset which depreciation in 2010 was not posted completely, meaning that we cannot close 2010 fiscal year.
This happened because of the following situation:
Vendor Incoice was posted in 30.12.2010, with a document date 31.03.2010 (meaning that for this asset the depreciation calculation start date was 01.03.2010). Then, in 30.03.2011 someone post the reversal document, with posting date 31.12.2010.
So for this asset I donu2019t have any depreciation posted in 2011 and no values in depreciation book, for the asset, meaning that even if I change the depreciation calculation start date for 01.01.2011, it will still be necessary to run depreciation in Dec.2010.
However I cannot run depreciation for this asset for 2010 because it will have impact in 2010 balance sheet, which cannot happen.
Do you have any ideas to solve this problem?
    Thanks!
    Best regards,
    Andreia Nascimento

    Hi,
As i have already suggested you for the [SIMILAR THREAD|Re: Asset Fiscal Year Closing not possible], which you have only posted in FI forum, there is no other alternative than running the repeat dep run for FY 2010 for period 12.
Please do not cross post your questions.

  • Asset still showing planned  value for closed fiscal year.

*We have a situation:-  After we ran depreciation for Dec 2009, there was a credit memo posting done in the system for a particular asset.  Now, the fiscal year has been closed for 2009 and 2010 is opened. Jan and Feb depreciation posting has been done for the asset for year 2010, but the credit memo posting is still stuck as planned value in the 12th period of 2009. How can we take care of that?  I canu2019t run unplanned depreciation for 2009. Is there a better way to take care of this?  I thought about opening year 2009 for the asset (ccode) and then running unplanned depreciation. Will that be a problem? If yes, what other solution can be proposed.*
    *Appreciate the response.*

    Hi,
If it is not possible to open the fiscal year because audit
has already been completed we have a workaround which is not quite
correct from the legal side ist thereport RACORR20_A from note 29694.
If in table ANLC there are differences between posted and planed
depr. the report simply makes: planed = posted.
    The correct way would be:
->  Reopen your GL for FY 2008 via OB52.
    ->  Recalculate values  (RAAFAR00)
    ->  RAPOST2000
    ->  RAPERB2000
    ->  RAJABS00

  • Year End Close Fiscal year/Asset End Closing

    Dear FI Experts,
User ran t.code F.16  fiscal year balance carry forward, before running AJAB for Year End asset accounting.  Per my knowledge SAp requires to do  AJAB prior of closing assets. Do I have to reverse fiscal year balance carry forward and go in order?
    Thank You for your comments

    Yes frank,
GL closing should be carried only after all the sub ledgers are closed
    for asset closing
you should open the new fiscal year first (AJRW) and then close the existing fiscal year. (AJAB)
otherwise FI-AA and Fi-GL may not reconcile (use tcode ABST2 to check this)

  • Accomodating Different Fiscal Year Variants in Fixed Assets.

    Hello All,
Our client wants to maintain two separate and distinct fiscal year calendars for Fixed Assets:
    1. One for Financial statements (Oct - Sep) and the other for
2 .Tax reporting and compliance purposes. (Jan - Dec)
How would you accommodate this requirement ?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Vijay,
But a different fiscal year version can only be used in Asset Accounting if the start and end dates of the versions in Asset Accounting and Financial Accounting are the same.
This is not the case with us.
Dep Area 01 for Company financials is 4-5-4.
Dep Area XX for Local Legal Req is Jan to Dec.
How do you accomodate this ?
    Thanks.

  • Error when closing fiscal year 2010 for fixed assets

I was performing year end close for asset management using TCode AJAB and received an error that one asset has not completed posting depreciation for 2010.
When I looked at the asset that was causing the error I noticed there is still remaining "planned" depreciation for the year 2010.  Apparently, there was some subsequent cost added to this asset after December 2010 depreciation was posted.
Can I process depreciation again for December for this one asset?  If so, what Tcode would I use?

    Hi
You have to execute repeat run in AFAB for DEC 2010 and then try to close using AJAB.

  • Lease Assets Management

    Hi Gurus,
    Thanks in advance
I need Lease Assets Management in SAP configuration documents.
If any body have please send me on following mail ID : [email protected]
    Thanks

Hi deepika.... the following notes may useful to u ..
The "Leased Assets" scenario describes the management of leased assets from the standpoint of the lessee.
Leased assets create special accounting requirements for the lessee, as compared to assets that an enterprise purchases or produces itself. During the term of the lease, leased assets remain the property of the lessor or manufacturer. They represent, therefore, a special form of rented asset. Such assets are legally and from a tax perspective the responsibility of the lessor, and are not relevant for assessing the value of the asset portfolio of the lessee. However, in certain countries, you are nonetheless required to capitalize leased assets, depending on the type of financing.
This scenario makes it possible to handle different types of leased assets differently. Depending on legal restrictions, you can capitalize and depreciate leased assets (capital lease) or post their rent expense periodically to the profit and loss statement (operating lease).
There are different ways of handling the values of leased assets in the system. Depending on legal requirements and the conditions of the lease, there are two different options:
You have to capitalize and depreciate certain leased assets (capital lease).
You treat others as periodic rent expense, which flows into the profit and loss statement (operating lease).
This second type is not relevant to the fixed assets of the lessee. It is therefore sufficient to do one of the following:
Manage operating leases as statistical assets in the Asset Accounting component (with no active depreciation areas)
Manage them only as cost-accounting values (or for group accounting) in the corresponding depreciation areas
There is a special report on rent liability that can be used for all types of leased assets (see below).
You can also manage insurance values for purely statistical leased assets (without depreciation areas). You enter a manual insurance value and an index series for the leased assets in the asset master record. You obtain reports on these values using the standard report for insurance values.
    <b>Capital Lease Method</b>
Leased assets can be capitalized in the Asset Accounting component using the capital lease method. The system calculates the acquisition value from the present value of the future lease payments in the leasing agreement. To be able to determine the future burden of payment, you need to maintain the following leasing conditions in the asset master records:
    Amount of lease payment
    Number of payments
    Payment cycle
In order to calculate present value, also enter an interest rate. The system requires that you post a leasing partner as a vendor in the asset master record at the time of the acquisition posting (opening posting).
    <b>Periodic Posting</b>
The depreciation posting program posts the depreciation of leased assets and the write-off of the interest. You can use any depreciation key. The standard R/3 System includes a special depreciation key, in which the depreciation amounts correspond to the present value of the periodic leasing payments (LEAS). Using this key, interest is determined as the difference between the leasing payments and the present value.
    <b>Calculation of Present Value</b>
The present value of the leased asset is calculated on the basis of the following specifications:
g : Amount of lease payment
    i : Annual interest rate
n : Number of lease payments
    r: Leasing cycle (for example, 3 = quarterly, 6 = semiannual)
m : Number of periods in a year
    q : Period interest factor = 1 + ( i / 100 * r / m)
If payment is made at the beginning of the period, the present value then results from the following formula:
    Present value = g + g * q** (n-1) - 1 / (q**n-1 * (q - 1))
With payment at the end of the payment period, on the other hand, the present value is calculated as follows:
    Present value = g * ( q*n - 1) / ( q*n * ( q - 1))
    Example
    g : 100
    i: 10.000 %
    n: 20
    r: 3
    m: 12
    q: 1 + (10.000 / 100 * 3 / 12) = 1.025
Present value at the beginning of the payment period:
    100 + 100 * (1.025*19 - 1) / (1.025*19 * (1.025 - 1)) = 1597.89
Present value at the end of the payment period:
    100 * (1.025*20 - 1) / (1.025*20 * ( 1.025 - 1)) = 1558.92
    <b>Reports</b>
There is a standard report in the system for determining future leasing liability (especially in regard to leased assets that are not capitalized). The report displays for each leased asset:
    The payments already made
The payments due up to the date of the report
The total lease payments to be made for the asset
You can create a totals list with cumulative values for each fiscal year and company code. In order for the report to work properly, you must make sure that the following leasing conditions are properly maintained in the asset master record:
    Start date of the lease
Payment information (lease payment amount, payment cycle, number of payments)
    Leasing type
Using the APC by acquisition year indicator, you can display the theoretical acquisition value of leased assets according to acquisition year. This statistical analysis is required in some countries for financial reports. The system uses the base new value that is specified in the asset master record in the leasing information. The acquisition year is determined from the start date of the lease.
    <b>Implementation Considerations
    General Tips</b>
If you want to manage capitalized leased assets in the system, follow these steps:
Define leasing types in Customizing for Asset Accounting with the specifications for posting asset acquisitions.
Create special asset classes and account allocations for your leased assets.
Define depreciation areas, in which you plan to capitalize leased assets using the capital lease procedure, so that they manage interest that can be posted with the depreciation posting program.
Activate the depreciation areas, in which the leased assets will be capitalized and depreciated, in these asset classes.
Assign a leasing type to the asset master records for leased assets.
Maintain the information and conditions of the leasing agreement in the master records of the leased assets. Specify an interest rate for calculating the present value and determine whether the lease payments should be made at the beginning of the payment period or at the end of the payment period.
Post the acquisition of a leased asset with the display transaction for asset master data.
    <b>Leased Asset acquisition</b>
The "acquisition of a leased asset" is considered for our purposes to be the entry of the leased asset in the FI-AA System. This does not necessarily mean that the leased asset must be capitalized. You can enter a leased asset simply to manage purely statistical data. You handle the leased asset as a master record, with no values in the book or tax depreciation areas.
Posting the acquisition of a leased asset may be necessary for one of the following reasons:
You have received a new leased asset (goods receipt).
You need to change the way bookkeeping is handled for a leased asset due to a change in the conditions of the lease.
You need to post a leased asset to a new asset master record due to a transfer.
    <b>Process Flow</b>
Before posting the acquisition of the leased asset, you must determine the bookkeeping method to be used, either:
Capitalization of the leased asset to fixed assets, with the present value of the future lease payments and depreciation of the present value (capital lease)
Statistical management of the leased asset (no capitalization), and direct posting of the lease payments as rental expense in the profit and loss statement (operating lease)

  • Change in start date of tax depreciation in mid of year

    Hi Experts,
Tax depreciation area is not for posting. The fiscal year is from Jan to Dec. I want to calculate tax depreciation from May 2011 based on Net Book Value of tax depreciation as on 30.04.2011. But once I change the start date of tax depreciation in asset master to 01.05.2011, the system ignores the previous depreciation so I am not getting the NBV of tax depreciation of 30.04.2011.
Is any setting is required to get this. I can not do changes in posting rules since this tax depreciation is not for posting any thing.
The fiscal year 2010 is closed and NBV of tax depreciation as on 31.12.2010 of one asset is 80000, If I change the start date of tax depreciation from 1.1.2011 then system correcly take NBV of 31.12.2010 for further depreciation calculation. But if i change the start date of depreciation in between of year the system is calculating depreciation based on NBV of 31.12.2010 but ignores the tax depreciation from 1.1.2011 to 30.04.2011, which I previously run using AFAB.
Need your assistance to know is it feasible to do this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Harshad

    Hi Harshad
The behaviour of the system is very much correct, it is designed to behave that way...
One, you should not have changed the dep start date....
two, NBV in SAP is always taken to be NBV @ the start of the year....
The best wayout I can suggest here is, if you are on EhP4 and EA-FIN active
    a. Change the Dep Key in the asset... You can maintain Time Dependant Dep Terms in asset master i.e. Dep Key X from Jan-Apr and Dep Key Y from MAy onwards
    b. This will however, calculate dep based on NBV at the start of the year, but based on new useful life
    c. Considering your eg: The system is posting more depreciation i.e. 5333 instead of 5155.... So, calculate this amount outside the system and post a Manual Write up ABZU inorder to reduce the Dep and increase the NBV
Even if you are on not on EhP4, you can follow the same approach as above.... i.e.
    a. Change the Dep Key in asset master.... This will throw up new dep figure, on the basis of New Useful life and NBV at the start of the year
    b. Post a write up from ABZU....
No need to do Asset to asset transfer in my opinion
Only diff between EhP4 and Non EhP4 is that the differential depreciation would be lesser if you are on EhP4... i.e. instead of 5333 now, system may throw up depreciation amount of 5666.. So, you may need to post write up of 5666-5155

  • Assets Year-end closing

    Hi
One of our group companies are facing the issue below.
*. When trying to run any asset transaction the error message "Fiscal year change in co.code J002 possible only after year-end closing 2008" . We are currently in 2010 in financial accounting.
AJRW -Change to new FY 2009 was successful, but for 2010 the same error msg above is displayed.
    *AJAB -FY close
    - 2008 : The planned depreciation was not completely posted to Financial Accounting for asset 000000300090-0000 in company code J002 in depreciation area 01.
When I check AW01N, there is a planned depreciation amount for 2008 period 12. However, depreciation has been completed for 2009. If I try to a repeat run for 2008 in test mode there is a value coming up. The issue is posting periods are close. Current financial period is in 2010.
    Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Nadini

The following are the important steps you must keep in mind while closing asset accounting.
    1. Recalculate all asset values AFAR
    2. Run program RAUNVA00
    3. Run program RAANLA01
    4. If you find any unposted assets in step 3 delete them if you do not want in AS06 / AS26 (group assets)
    5. Update your insurance index OAV5 (if necessary)
    6. Run your regular month end closing process.
    7. Reconcile FI-AA with GL accounting - transaction code ABST
    8. AJRW - Fiscal Year change
    9. AJAB - Close fiscal year
    10. reopen the fiscal year OAAQ (if only necessary)
    11. Perform all year end closing steps.
    Thanks,
    Ravi
