Change name associated with a iCloud email account

I am trying to find out how to change a change name associated with a iCloud email account.
for example    name displayed Robert  with example [email protected] The name Robert is wrong I wish to correct it to David.
What is the process. I am using a MacBook with current OS X and Safari 8.0.3
Second question also dealing with iCloud email. I have tried to set up an account for my wife and every entry I have tried comes back with an error message illegal characters? What is not allowed?

Just open www.icloud.com, open "Mail", open "Preferences..." (in the lower left corner), then open the "Accounts" tab and here change your "Full Name".

  • How to change the name associated with my icloud email account?

    Hey there,
I set an icloud account and for some strange reason, it took my second last name and not the first one (the one I use). So, if I send an email I feel it is not me. I just want to change the last name but I do not how to do it.
    Thanks,
    Eduardo

    Go to
Settings---> Mail, Contacts, Calendars---> scroll down to Contacts to make sure that "My Info" is really your's and not your wife's.
If that doesn't work, go onto a computer and...
icloud.com (sign in)---> Mail---> Little gear in lower left corner of the screen---> Preferences---> Accounts---> Full Name

You can't delete an existing account, you can only choose to stop using it.  It will still be there should you decide to use it again in the future.

how do i change the name associated with my icloud

If you are trying to change the iCloud ID to another ID, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.
If you are trying to change the name of your existing iCloud ID and not trying to change to a different ID, you can change the name of the ID as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621.  After doing so, you'll need to sign out of the exising ID, then sign back in using the changed ID.

  • Change name associated with my mac account

The name associated with my mac account is presently showing as "First Last" when the main account is used for e-mail.  I would like to change it to "The Last Names" to connote that this address goes to the family in general.  Is there any way to change the display name?  I have tried in iCloud browser mail preferences, user accounts system preferences, and have no luck.

By that you mean you log into the iCloud.com website?    Or are you using an email client like Outlook or Thunderbird?
If you log into iCloud.com in your web browse, What name Appears at the top right corner when in Mail?
If you use an email client which one?

  • My icloud is associated with an invalid email account

My icloud is associated with an invalid email account

    Hello there, James.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up information on how to change your Apple ID email in regards to iCloud:
    Change your Apple ID
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5621
Sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, App Store, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage on each device that uses your current Apple ID for these services.
Go to My Apple ID (appleid.apple.com).
Select “Manage your Apple ID” and sign in. Forgot your password?
Select Edit next to “Apple ID and Primary Email Address.”
Enter the email address to use as your Apple ID, then select Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now in the email. Didn't receive the email?
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your renamed Apple ID.
When you see a message that verification is complete, you can begin using your renamed Apple ID. You should also update the features and services that you use with Apple ID.

I hace an IPad2 and a desktop Mac --I am on Lion and in the cloud.  Both devices share the same email account.  How can I use the iPad to connect with the Mac through facetime if I am travelling?

  • Changing name associated with iphone user

I went through a name change last year and got an iphone in January. The bill, the name of the phone, my email, my apple ID - all have my correct and new last name. However, when I send out emails on the phone or when I download a new app - the name that gets used is my old last name. I have tried looking in all sorts of areas on the phone as to where this info is coming from - and I cant figure it out!
    -Please help!

Thanks for the tip! I would have done that right now but i deleted him off my contact list since i thought it might have somehow fixed the problem but its still registering as my friend.

  • How can I get my iPad2 and my desktop Mac to connect with FaceTime if they are both associated with the same email account?

It seems I should be able to use my iPad to connect with my Mac through facetime if I travel but they both have the same account settings since I am in the cloud.  If I try to connect, I get a busy signal - naturally since I am calling myselt.  Is there a way to get this to work?

You need to associate another email address to one of the devices. Read about it here.

  • I Am unable to update downloads as the password apple want is still associated with my old email account which is void.

I have changed my add pale id account but the password request for my download updates is still linked to my old void email address. How do I change this?

The password for your Apple ID will always be the same irregardless of what email address it is linked to, that is unless you change the password. You can change the password for your Apple ID and the Primary email address used for your Apple ID for Apple to contact you and I suggest you do that ASAP (and it should of been done before you abandoned that original contact email address).
    Change the password.

  • How to start using iCloud email and stop using the Yahoo email that is associated with the iCloud account?

I have an iCloud account but it is associated with a Yahoo email account. I want to turn on iCloud mail but I'm prompted to create a new iCloud account. I don't want to. I want to use my current iCloud account and stop using my Yahoo mail. How is this done?

You won't be able to use your @icloud.com email address as your iCloud ID.  If you want to use an @icloud.com address as your iCloud ID you would have had to create the account initially that way.  While you could create a new iCloud account to do this, your would not be able to use your existing @icloud.com address as the ID; you would have to create a new @icloud.com ID to set up the new account.

  • IOS 8: The textbox to change the description field of the iCloud email account no longer exists

The textbox to change the description of the iCloud email account that existed in all previous versions of iOS, and is available for all other types of email accounts under iOS 8, appears to have been removed.  Without this textbox, it is not possible to change the default description of "iCould", or to change a description that was set with a previous version of iOS.  The description field still exists, as the value that I set on a previous version of iOS is still being used by some of my iOS devices, but there is currently no way to change it via the current iOS 8 UI.  The description field is available to change for all other kinds of email accounts.

Confimed.  And I hope they put it back soon.
I used an iCloud backup to transfer everything on my iPhone 5s to my iPhone 6.  The (modified) description for my iCloud account transferred and appears the way I want it to appear on my iPhone 6.  However, it cannot be changed.
Alternatively, I also have a new iPad Air 2 that I set up as a completely new iPad (i.e. I did not transfer anything from an older iPad).  The iPad shows the description for my iCloud account as the default: "iCloud."  It, too, cannot be changed.
True, this is only a minor annoyance, but it would be less of an issue if Apple had not removed a feature that previously existed in iOS 7.
I'm not sure if the removal was intentional or unintentional, but, again, I hope this gets fixed soon.  In the meantime, I would be interested in anyone can find a workaround.

  • ICloud email accounts necessary on all my apple devices?

I have an iMac, a MacBook Pro, an iPod 2, and an iPhone 4s.  When setting up iCloud, I ended up with an iCloud email account on the MacBook, the iPhone, and the iPad, but not on the iMac.  Is this normal?  Are the iCloud email accounts required on the ios devices and the MacBook?

I'm not sure if I am referring to Apple ID.  In the iCloud setup routine on my iPad and iPhone, all of my devices  my normal, i.e., [email protected], email address being used as my Apple ID, with a me.com address for email shown on the IOS devices.  It would appear then that the cox email account answers the Apple ID requirement.  My question, then, is, do I need the iCloud email address (@me.com) as well?  Since my iMac doesn't have the iCloud email account in either mail or iCloud, it would appear that I do not.  So I guess my bottom line question is, can I safely delete the iCloud email account ([email protected]) from those devices that have it?
