Change password cause BSOD

We rolled out T500 and T61 updated image with XP SP3 and now we have realized that SP3 is creating problem when user clicks ctrl+alt+delete and change password depends on the model it is either BSOD or warning message about winlogon.exe application failure, this way or another it is not working and now is too late to go back to XP SP2. This is happening across the board and it is somehow related to lenovo software because same T500 or T61 with plain winxp sp3 without ThinkVantage software does not do this in "plain" xp sp3 build all works. Any idea how to fix this?

I've seen the same issue with a t61 running sp3 ( it was upgraded to sp3, not installed with sp3 disk). And I never got it figured out.  I ended up giving up and reimaging the machine.  I run sp3 on 400's, w500's, 61's, 60's and 43's and i rebuilt my image with a xpsp3 disk and have not seen the problem since going on 3 months.  I'd like to find out what the issue was.
What lenovo software do you have installed?
Here is a list of drivers and software I used for my image for the t61. They all have the finger print readers but I disable it.

    Hey jamesarm97 & diegofoto,
    On August 21st, some users may have been unable to access iCloud services for a short period of time. Apple worked quickly to resolve these issues, however you two may have experienced them. To check the current status of these systems please see:

  • Windows 8.1 cannot change password in Windows 2003 domain level domain

    On several installations of windows 8.1 enterprise, users cannot change passwords by using <ctrl> + <al> + <del> keys and choosing change password.
    The error is: "The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship"
    Fresh Windows 8.1 enterprise installs with no patches to fully patched windows 8.1 enterprise workstations have the problem.  Backed out patches one by one and tested password change without success.  Tried various dell laptops, tablets, and workstations
    but same issue.  Tried VMware guest workstation with windows 8.1 enterprise.  The domain functional level is 2003 with a mixture of Windows 2008 R2 DC's and Windows 2003 DC's.
    The add/remove from domain did not help.  What troubleshooting steps should I take from this point?  Is this related to secure channel failures?  Note: did not find event log entries for the failures in the DC's nor on the workstation.
    Perhaps I did not search  for the proper entry on the DC's.

    Hi,
    Please find below several possible cause of error “The security database on the server does
    not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship”
    Secure channel is broken (Can fix by rejoin problematic client to domain)
    AD replication issue. The computer account exists on one domain controller but not others.
    Duplicated SPN (seems not possible)
    So, to narrow down the issue, you need to make sure the AD replication is working fine. Please run command
    repadmin /showrepl * on a DC, then post the result here.
    After that, please run
    set l on a problematic client, then post the result here.
    Moreover, please check on system event log and check if there have any related error of the issue.
    Thanks.

  • Airport Extreme problems--drops connection and can't change password

    Hi, I am having multiple problems with my Airport Extreme (n) base station. All of these problems occur on all three of my machines. MacBook Pro 2007 model, MacBook Pro i7 2.66, and iMac 24".
    1. Sometimes the airport connection works, but then drops off for hours at a time with no explanation, and then starts working again by itself. The green light is lit all the time. Also the airport bars on my menu bar are showing that it's connected. However when I go through diagnostics it says I don't have a connection and to restart the modem, which I do to no avail.
    2. When it is connected, there is often strange download activity (shown via istats menu), even when no applications are open. It's around 200k. When I turn the airport off the downloading stops. This only happens via airport base station connection, not when connected via ethernet.
    3. I have tried numerous times to reset my AE base station password via airport utility. I go through the process. It tells me the configuration changes were successful and then it restarts the base station. When I reconnect the airport connection, it still uses the old password. I cannot get it to actually accept the new password.
    Does anyone have similar experiences? I am not sure what to do and have not seen any simiar threads in the forum.
    Thanks for any help,
    lula

    Yes, I am pretty sure it isn't that. That modem and it's connection works fine, but it's on the other side of the house.
    These various problems (connection dropping, mysterious download when no apps are on, and not being able to change password) all started about two months ago, before that I never had problems with the airport. I have had the same ADSL modem (provided by my phone/cable company) the whole time.
    What possible problems do you think the provided modem could cause?
    And why am I not be able to change my airport password? That part really puzzles me.
    Do you think if I bought a new modem--one completely independent and not connected to a particular isp it would solve the problem. I am willing to try that, but I don't know if it will make a difference.

  • Jython having issue importing weblogic modules for changing passwords

    I am trying to import some WLST modules into a Jython script as outline in the documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs92/config_scripting/config_WLS.html#wp1019971
    The strange thing is that it says it is a WLST script, but it appears to be a Jython script. I tried performing this import using WLST interactive mode, but this did not work.
    I am passing the passwords as encrypted strings while using the encrypt() function
    Here is the script:
    import sys
    from weblogic.management.security.authentication import UserPasswordEditorMBean
    #To be invoked by java -cp /usr/local/bea/wlserver_10.0/common/lib/jython.jar org.python.util.jython
    #usage: wlst.sh ResetWLPassword.py <current_pass> <user> <new_pass> <adminServerURL>
    #{3DES}/asdfadsf== -
    #{3DES}asdfafdsadsf== -
    myPass = sys.argv[1]
    myUser = sys.argv[2]
    newPass = sys.argv[3]
    adminServerURL = sys.argv[4]
    #Connect
    try:
    connect('weblogic',myPass,adminServerURL)

    atnr.changeUserPassword(myUser,myuser,newPass)
    print "Changed password successfully"
    except:

    dumpStack()
    I am receiving the following error message:

    You are calling org.python.util.jython again instead of weblogic.WLST like I advised in my first post. Invoke WLST (not jython) and pass your values in cleartext. Like I said in my previous post, I was able to execute your script without issue when calling WLST and passing cleartext values (I did have to modify one line to due a bug in your script -- see my prior posts).This seems to work in terms of getting the code to run, but there is still a problem with passing the arguments to the changeUserPassword() method.
    I entered the sequence of commands in the script manually into WLST and it works without issue. It even works without the import, which is strange that Oracle includes it in their documentation.

  • Change Password not replicating to AD user account

    I am a mac noob and we are having an issue where password changes on macs are only reflected on the local system.  The macs are bound to AD, and Create a mobile account at login is checked.  I have asked our network and security teams to verify any changes recently but am told that things are as they have always been.
    Currently the only workaround is to have users change the password on their Mac and then use a windows machine to also change the pw, or call the service desk and have them update their password in AD.
    Is there something obvious that I am missing because of my inexperience with Macs?  I appreciate any help I can get,
    Thanks,
    Stephen
    What I have tried so far:  (all the steps I have tried I also rebooted after any changes were made)
    Preferences/Users & Groups/Change Password - Only changes PW locally.
    Unbinding from the domain and rebinding
    Unbinding from the domain, changing the machine name, restarting, binded to the domain and applied AD preferences
    Tried specifying the preferred domain server in the Directory Utility under advanced options
    I have reproduced the issue on my Mac Air with 10.9 (mavericks) and also on a MacBook Pro with 10.8.5(mountain lion)
    Turned off wireless and attempted change via only a wired connection on non 8021x LAN
    Turned off wireless and attempted change via only a wired connection on the 8021x LAN
    Disconnected wired and attempted change via only a wireless connection.
    Turned off wireless and attempted change via DSL connected to VPN
    Deleted profiles and downloaded them from Profile Manager
    Attempted to change password using the Preferences/Security & Privacy/General tab
    Attempted to change password using Terminal

    We pinpointed the cause of the issue.  It is the build process instructions we follow.  The old process was automated but doesn't work with newer macs so we have been running the builds manually.  We added the user as a local user manually which is precisely why the PW changes only happened locally.
    Once the machine is bound to the domain and network users can login, and the mobile profile option is selected, all one has to do is login using network credentials, the password change was immediate for AD.

  • Communication user is not requested change password

    Hi
    We have set a general rule, that users must change password every 90 days (login/password_expiration_time). We have now had a communication user in the system for more than 5 months, and the password is still not expired.
    How can this be? Shouldn't communication users be forced to change the password?
    In table USR02 I can see a field XUPWDSTATE - "Password Change Mandatory / Optional (See Domain XUPWDSTATE)", but I can't find any documentation on this field. The values are 0,1,254,255. Does anybody know what these values mean and how/when they are set.
    Thank you for your help.

    Well, that's a common misunderstanding:
    accounts of type "COMMUNICATION user" are subject of password expiration - however the password change requirement is not enforced (since the server cannot interact with the user). Actually that's not mainly caused by the user type but by the communication protocol being used: RFC and HTTP allow both, interactive and non-interactive system usage. Only the DIAG protocol (used by SAPGUI) ensures that an interaction with the user is possible - and in this case the system is enforcing a password change (when required).
    Note 622464 provides an overview on the user types and the ability / requirement to change passwords (and other impacts).
    Side-remark: modifying the USR02 field would not have any impact on the password change handling (beside the fact that such direct table manipulations are risky and strongly discouraged).
    As reported by other SDN community members (and stated in note 320991, quite at the end) there are some profile parameters that will cause RFC and HTTP based logon to fail for passwords which are expired / initial. Setting those profile parameters will result in a downwards-incompatible system behavior - for this reason the default setting is "off".
    Indeed, if you intend to use "technical accounts" for (automated) system-to-system communication, then kindly use the user type "SYSTEM". In that case, the password is neither "expired" nor "initial" - no password change is required nor can it be performed by the SYSTEM user itself. Only an user administrator can set a new password (in systems as of NWAS 7.0: even a downwards-compatible one - despite the password policy, see notes referenced by note 622464).

  • CANNOT ACCESS DOWNLOAD FOR READER EVEN WITH CHANGED PASSWORD

    CANNOT ACCESS DOWNLOAD FOR ADOBE READER EVEN WITH A CHANGED PASSWORD AND I HAVE BEEN ON CHAT

    There are several possibilities as to why a user account may
    not be correctly available or a password to it reset to fix it.
    One of them may be, if the short name of the computer or of
    an account was changed by the user; and later the system
    may appear different or changed, with some of the user acct
    settings or preferences no longer as they were prior to that.
    There is a way to create a new admin level user account and
    then move the older user info into the new account; then go
    in and delete the other one. I am not certain as to how to do
    this; but the topic has come up in these discussions, and the
    general path is about the same from Panther through Leopard.
    A few details may be named different, but similar as things go.
    • Mac OS X: *How to change user short name* or home directory name:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1428
    • How do I change owner's name in my Mac:
    http://www.askdavetaylor.com/howto_change_owners_name_applemac.html
    While these kinds of details may not be behind the exact problem in
    the computer in question, directory and user account issues do often
    have similar causes. Often, they are user-caused events. If the general
    Directory of information on the hard disk drive has a problem, the use
    of a third-party disk tool such as Disk Warrior is usually advised. If that
    were needed, usually more evidence across the system would appear.
    There may be a way to use a Setup Assistant to recreate a new user
    experience and start over with a new admin account and user name.
    Then go into the system to ferret out the old user info.
    +Sorry I can't be of more help; as I am being distracted by an elderly+
    +person who can't figure out why I am online or what it means to be.+
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Apple ID still disabled after changed password.

    I've changed my password after I first gotten the apple id disabled messages on my ipad and iphone, but now it is still showing the message saying my Apple ID is disabled.... However, I can still log in with my recently changed password.  What is causing the message reappearing and how can I make it go away?  Help please!!!!
    Thank you

    If you are getting the message on your iPad then try logging out of your account on it by tapping on your id in Settings > Store and then log back in and see if that 'refreshes' the account on it.

  • 2012 R2 RD Session Host Domain Users Cannot Change Password

    I set up a Windows 2012 R2 Session Host as per
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2833839 and joined it to the domain.  Now, users are unable to change their password. When they log in to the RDSH and "ctrl-del-end", they are given the change password dialog, but they are told that
    their password "doesn't meet complexity requirements" even if it does.  I suspect the issue is related to the fact that there is no "session collection" per se and that the "connection broker" role is not installed.
    Is there any way around this?  The end game would be to have them log into this RDSH and be able to change their password to conform with the domain password policy
    PaulK

    Hi Paulk,
    Did you mean that all users cannot change passwords? Based on my experience, this issue was not related ro the RD connection broker role.
    Please check the password policy in group policy of the domain to see if any password policy caused this issue:
    Computer Configuration\Windows Settings\Security Settings\Account Policies\Password Policy
    For more information, you can refer to the link below:

  • If someone has wiped my ipad and changed passwords on icloud how do i get my data back

    if someone has wiped my ipad and changed passwords on icloud how do i get my data back? please could someone help me out thanks

    How did they wipe it?  By using Find My iPad and performing a wipe?  If so, that means they have your icloud ID and password, not a good thing.
    You could try connecting it to iTunes and performing a restore from iCloud.  But if they changed password, then you are out of the loop.  How did they get your password in order to change it?

  • How to Enforce User Change Password First Time User in Release 2?

    Hi...
    We discovered in Oracle Directory Manager(in unix is oidadmin), there actualy
    column to expiry date.(the default is 60).
    We follow this notes in metalink..
    Note:176470.1 Subject: How To Pre-Expire Portal Passwords
    Even though the note is for Portal30(release1), we just wangt to try it in our Release 2...
    Extract from the note
    "3. Set the value of the column LAST_PASSWD_CHANGE_TIME in the table WWSEC_PERSON$ in SSO schema to a value older than the password expiration period (default is 90 days) before the current time (e.g. sysdate - 100) for the appropriate user(s)
    4. For example, if you have created a user called TEST
    you would issue a command such as:
    update wwsec_person$
    set LAST_PASSWD_CHANGE_TIME =sysdate-70
    where USER_NAME='TEST';
    commit; "
    But, when we try to login again in the portal, we can still login...
    So, is the function still exist in Release 2?..
    If not, why Oracle Portal throw that function away?
    Why there still columns in WWSEC_PERSON$ that maybe linked to the password problem?
    can anybody help/explain?
    Thanks....

  • In Portal Anonymous mode - Change password option not coming- login fails

    Hi Experts,
         We are having some application which requires login in anonymous mode. When we click the application and give the user id password, it loggs in properly, there is no problem in that.
        But if the password is reset by administrator, then when entering the reset password given by admin it should ask to change the password. This is happening in normal scenario(/irj/portal), but when try the same in anonymous mode(irj/portal/anonymous) where the prompt is from the login required application, then it says login failed instead of giving the change password and confirm password screen.
    Appreciate your help in solving this issue. I hope many would have faced similar situation.
    Thanks
    Yusuf

    Hi Yusuf.
    Do you use a standard or custom login module for your application?
    More likely the used login module does not have a logic that handles such scenario as a change of user's password.
    In this case you need to implement a custom module with a required functionality.
