How to change 2-sided printer back to default single sided printing on hp Officejet Pro 8600 printer.

Hi @rdwill13
You can change the default back to single sided in the preferences. I can help you with this. What operating system and version do you have? Mac or Windows?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer - help for office environment/wireless network

I'm an HP person (i.e., laptob, printer, etc.).  Our office had a Brothers (sorry) MFC 9840 and with it we had a desktop app that would allow us to scan, copy and fax from our personal computers.  Needless to say that printer died and I bought the office an HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer. Because the aforementioned capabilities existed, the staff would like them for our new HP printer. I didn't see these capabillities on the support disk.  Did I miss it?  Can you help.  Thanks (because I can not believe the HP would put out such great products without this capability).

    Hi there,
Could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? What operating system are we using?

  • After installing latest OS update I can no longer print from my iPad to my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer.  Any suggestions?

After installing latest OS 5.1 update I can no longer print to my HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer?   Suggestions?

Installing the new os may have tricked one of the three devices involved.  If it used to work, it will again.
Reboot the printer.   Reboot the router.  On the pad, general, reset, reset network connections.
Make sure all the devices are on the same wifi network.   Talk nice to it.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 (Printer Failure after changing ink)

I use an hp Officejet Pro 8600 on a windows 8.1 operating system. About a week ago i replaced my black ink but after restarting my printer, an error message arreared on my screen which reads ' There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persist, contact HP'. I have since turned off my printer and turned it back on but that has not solved the problem. What do i do next?

Yes if the printhead is damaged, it would need replaced (to print). But beforedo that, please double check it's not something simple like forgot to removethe protective cover, didn't seat the cartridge properly, etc. see: http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?spf_p.tpst=kbDocDispl...

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Print Preview is not available

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8600 AIO printer that I purchased last week. I hooked it up to print in a network environment. I have thee window xp systems and three windows 7 systems printing to it with no issues.I am very happy with it. Yesterday my wife told me that when she printed she missed the print preview that our former printer had. I thought I would easily get into the HP 8600 printer program and setup the print preview option. To my surprise after checking in numerous areas and online, I found out that it looks like the option has been left out or not provided for the printer by HP. I realize the MS Office and many other programs have their own print preview however when being online with Google Chrome or Internet Explorer, you quickly realize that the option to select the pages you want to print and not print could save alot of wasted paper and ink. Someone please tell me that a print preview software option is in the works for this otherwise great printer! I can not imagine leaving this out of the printing software package provided.

Since HP isn't answering me on the 'Print Preview' being available soon or which HP printers software actally HAVE the 'print preview' function enabled... I did some searching and I found a partial answer to the 'print preview' delema.  The web site http://www.obviousidea.com/windows-software/greencloud-printer/
has a free program called GreenCloudPrinter which, in a nut shell, will install a printer? called GreenCloud which set itself up as the default printer and any file that is sent to the printer gets directed to the GreenCloud device which will then bring up a 'print preview' screen with options to remove blank pages and or print or not print the preview!  And a lot of other functions too.  Works great and it's free.  You do have to register it and a registration code is emailed to you to unlock the program. I hope that helps you out... worked for me.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 print with depleted cartridges

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 User Guide says:
"The printer can operate with one or more depleted cartridges. However, printing with depleted cartridges slows the printer and affects the quality of printed documents. If the black cartridge is depleted, blacks are not as dark. If a color cartridge is depleted, output is in grayscale. When possible, replace the depleted cartridge. Do not remove the depleted cartridge until you have a new ink cartridge available to replace. "
But the printer does not print with an depleted yellow cartridges. Do I have to change some settings? Or how can I make the printer print my document without replaceing the yellow cartridges?

I am annoyed. There is nothing on page 91 of my manual to indicate that there needs to be ink in all cartridges.  I can understand now why it won't print when one is empty, but one of the reasons I bought this printer is because it is supposed to print black only when up to 2 cartridges are depleted. My manual (page 90) says:

What exactly is your printer model? The verbage of the above is that for an IPH printer (with a black and a tri-color cartridge or perhaps a black, tri-color and photo cartridge), it does not apply to printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  Can you give a link to the manual online, or scan the page and post it here for your printer?
I can find several manuals online but not the one that I have and I don'tknow how to upload anything here. I have copied and pasted the relevant information from "my" manual, which has a black cover, says Officejet Pro in green, and says 8600 User Guide in white. I can see the other information in other manuals which explains about printing with LOW ink but not with NO ink. If you can tell me how to upload "my" manual, I'd be happy to do so. Meanwhile, here's what I've copied and pasted, and thanks for your interest.

  • HP Print and Scan Doctor can't connect to HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.

My HP Officejet Pro 8600 has been working perfectly for the last 1+ years, up until 2 days ago, when it stopped printing jobs submitted from my Windows 7 desktop.  I've tried all manner of repair, thus far unsuccessfully, including
resetting the IP on both the printer and the desktop
    trying wireless connection, no difference
    reinstalling drivers and firmware
    hard-resetting the printer
repeatedly trying to print test pages
repeatedly restarted the Print Spooler, and rebooted the desktop
attempting to troubleshoot using HP Print and Scan Doctor.
    Additional facts:
My wife can use the printer from her work laptop without any problems.
I can ping the printer from the desktop at its static IP, so IP-level connectivity isn't the problem.
The standard print queue view indicates "(Offline)" in the title bar, and attempting to print a test page from the Properties dialog submits the page, then Status flips to "Error - Offline - Printing", despite the fact that the Properties dialog shows no checkmark next to Use Printer Offline menu entry.
The Doctor finds the printer at its IP and acknowledges that it's installed, and when asked to Fix Printing, says that everything checks-out okay with the product.  However, when I ask it to Test Print, it comes back with a pop-up stating it's Unable to Communicate with Printer; it suggests "Click Help for additional assistance information.", but there's no Help button.
If you've experienced this printer in a similar firmly-wedged state, I'd deeply appreciate hearing how you fixed it.
    Thanks,

    Hi @Sunshyn2005
I timed-out waiting for advice, and contacted HP Support, who helped me get the printer back on the air.  While we didn't manage to root-cause it, in the course of trying various things, the tech disabled Norton 360's firewall, which then allowed connecting to the printer, and restoring print service, which remains up after re-enabling the firewall.
The timing of the disconnection doesn't neatly corellate with any Windows updates.  My own theory is that it was caused by a 360 update, but am unable to find a smoking gun, since 360 doesn't provide update history.  The exact root-cause remains a mystery, but at least provides another thing for folks to try should they find themselves in similar straits.
I really appreciated your hint that a Windows update might be the root cause, and your pointing out how to review the history and back-out updates: this morning, I found that Windows had installed a batch of updates overnight, and found that no browsers worked.  Using your advice, I rolled back the update, restoring browsing.
    Thanks,
    -rjs

  • Margins on print copies from HP Officejet Pro 8600 Printer are not aligned with original document

My HP Office ject Pro 8600 Printer is not printing the same margins as my original document.  The left margin on the print copy is 3/4" too far to the right.  The margin on the right is too far right and the text is being printed off the page! The problem seemed to start when I loaded Avery Labels to print. I run a non-profit and need to make copies asap for a sponsorship letter for a fundraising event.

    Hi lbaker67,
Have you tried doing the firmware update for the printer? The firmware update
    Fix/Enhancements are as follows.
    1) Enhance ePrint Diagnostic report for ePrint Setup
    2) Improve ease of wireless setup
    3) Enhanced Embedded Web Services
    4) Improve Print Quality
    5) Improve Ink Usage
    6) Improve paper path performance
    7) Improve Digital scan performance
To check the version of your current printer firmware:
    Printer Information Screen
    1. From the Control panel, press Help (?) button, select Printer Information
    2. Use the down arrow button to scroll to the 2nd screen
    3. The current firmware revision will appear on the screen
If you do not have Version CLP1CN1322CR you need the update.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 - Printer is on Network but not Discoverable with Typical Discovery Method

    Hi all.
I need help! I have fought with this printer (HP Officejet Pro 8600) for about an hour. The error message I get says that the printer is on my network but is not discoverable using the typical network discovery method. I can set it up using the IP address (and will), but we frequently reset the router, and I don't want to deal with the printer everytime I do this. I figured it was something with the Windows firewall. I temporarily disabled it and tried again - nothing different. I am also running AVG free edition, but it does not have a firewall. Any help is appreciated! Forgot to add... I'm running Windows 7.

    Hi Kelly,
The printer should be able to reconnect to the router by itself after the router is reset.  Why do you have to reset the router?  It might be part of the issue with the printer.
There are multiple ways for the software to discover the printer.  There could be a setting in the router or even software services in the computer that are causing the normal methods to not work.
After you reset the router, does the printer not reconnect?  The blue wireless light would continually blink if the printer cannot reconnect to the router after the reset.

  • Webscan problem with HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer and OS Mavericks

I have an iMac with OS 10.9 Mavericks installed and an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus N911g printer.  I recently downloaded the "HP-Inkjet-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.37" software update from the HP website but, since installing it, the image preview feature on Webscan now only shows a black screen and I cannot download the scanned image.  I have uninstalled the update and reinstalled the old software  - "Officejet-Pro-8600_v12.23.0" but the problem persists.
I am not sure if this is an HP problem or a Mavericks bug.  Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated

The servicing when the printer is turned on is normal and is required to keep the printheads healthy (not clogged). See here for information.
As for power savings, the printer will automatically go into a low power mode when not printing for some time.  It is not necessary to turn the product off and on to save power.

  • Officejet pro 8600 printing

I have had an 8600 for a year now - since last Thursday it has become really slow at printing.  When I click print, it can take two minutes before the printer takes the page - and if there is more than one page to print I can be waiting 10 minutes for a five page document to print.
Can someone give me an idea? I've reset the printer after alighing printheads and cleaning printheads - it's a bit of a coincidence that this happened a year after getting it.

    Hi @hhs87, and @woodland36,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that your HP 7600 and 8600 printers are printing slowly. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
Some questions, if you do not mind:
How are your printers connected? Wireless, Ethernet, or USB?
What Operating System are you using? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
If you make a copy, Copying a Multipage Original, does it print at the same slow speed?
In the meantime, please see the following:

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Printing green

My OJ Pro 8600 won't print blue? Anything that should be blue is printing green.... What can I do to fix this?

If the product is new enough that you can take it back to Office Depot for a replacement that would probably be the fastest way.
You could also call HP at 1-800-HPINVENt if you are in the US, or see here for contact information worldwide.  Then would send a replacement and then you would typically have a few weeks to return the defective unit to avoid any charges.

  • How do i print from my iphone and i pad to my officejet pro 8600

how do i print from my i phone and i pad. where do i find my email address for the printer

In order to AirPrint from your iPad/iPhone, here's all you need to do:
    1. Make sure the printer and iPad/iPhone are connected to the same local network.
    2. Open something you want to print (on the iPad/iPhone).
    3. On the iPad/iPhone, tap the "Action" button (arrow curving out of a box).
    4. Tap "Print".
If you run into any issue try the below steps:
    1. Power off the printer.
    2. Completely power off the iOS devices (hold the Sleep and Home buttons simultaneously until a message appears asking you to "Slide to power off". Slide across that bar, and it should completely power off).
    3. Power the printer back on.
    4. Power the iOS devices back on.
    5. Try to print again.
Those steps usually resolve the issue. If they do not, try this additional steps:
    6. Power cycle your router (usually done by unplugging the router’s power cord, waiting 20 seconds, and plugging it back in).
    7. Make sure that the iOS devices and the printer are all connected to the same network, then try to print.

  • Printing photos from cell phone on a wireless HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

My wife sends photos to the printer from her cell phone, but not jst the photo gets printed, but also a lot of area outside of the photo gets printed in black ink - very wasteful.  How do you set up the printer or the phone so that only pictures get printed and not a lot of non-photo outside space?

Another option that you can try is using the Hp ePrint app for iPhone or the Hp Home and biz app for android devices. This may eliminate your problem.
Let me know how it goes.
