Change tab behaviour when switching applications

Just wondering how to change how tabs seem to behave when I select another application.
If you have more tabs open than the screen has room for, when you switch application the active tab shifts to the far right.
Is there some way to stop this from happening ?
The other one which I think may be a bug is: If you have Firefox and another application taking up half the screen, and select the other application, when you reselect Firefox by clicking directly on a tab, a different tab is selected.

This issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Mouse pointer hangs when switching applications

I have noticed that occasionally my mouse will hang (freeze, stall, get stuck, whatever you like) for about 0.5 seconds when I switch applications either by cmd-tab or by clicking with the mouse. I have not figured out a good way to replicate the problem but it happens pretty consistently on my computer (MBP2.2 with Leopard) and I was wondering if there was anyone else having similar issues. Thanks.

How many programs do you have open, what are they, and how much RAM is in your MacBook?
A pause during application switches often means that OS X needs to page data in or out of the virtual memory swap file on disk because it can't hold everything you're currently doing in the RAM that's available.

Why doesn't the URL change in the Wonder Bar when I change tabs, or when I navigate to pages within the site?

The URL in the WOnder Bar doesn't change when I switch from one tab to next.
For instance, I'm currently on this page, but I don't see the URL. What I see in the wonder bar is the last url I typed in: mailchimp.com.
Also, sometimes I get "new Tab" and when I type the URL, the Title tag does not come up on the tab, it stays as "new tab."

There have been a couple of different extension that have caused that problem. You'll need to do a little troubleshooting to determine which of your extensions is causing that.

Change Boolean state when switching between cases

I have a case structure with a true and false case. In the false case
I have two boolean I can turn on and off by clicking on them. When
changing to the true case I disabled the two booleans using a property
node. However when switching to the true case the booleans are
disabled and remain in their last state, i.e. if they were true (on) in
the false case, they remain true (on) in the grayed out disabled false
case. How do I change the state of the boolean in addition to
disableing it. i.e. if in the false case the boolean is in the true
state (on) and I switch to another case the booleans are disabled using
the property node and return to the false (off) state? I have attached
a example vi.

Jorge already gave you some useful advice, but I would really recommend that you rethink your approach.
Here are some points:
I am not sure why you place the booleans inside the case structure.
You song and dance is just an "invert" (see picture). Even better leave it all out and swap the contents of the two cases!
There is no reason to constantly spin the loop writing the same properties over and over. It is sufficient to recalculate when one of the controls change. Use an event structure!
You can eliminate the second switch by placing the diagram constants in the two cases.
Attached is a quick draft using events to duplicate your existing functionality. See if it gives you some ideas.

IPhoto freezing when switching applications

Everytime I switch applications from iPhoto I can't get back to iPhoto. If I am in iPhoto and then use Safari, I can't get the iPhoto window back except with Expose. If I select the iPhoto window I am presented with a beachball. I have repaired permissions, rebuilt my library, etc. Any ideas?

EEWB: Change tab tittle when creating an extension type ACTIVITY_H

Hi CRM Gurus,
I am using transaction EEWB to extend the object BUSINESS_ACTIVITY. There are two extension types: CUSTOMER_H and ACTIVITY_H. Both of them create an additional tab that contains the new fields. I have two questions about this:
1.- Which differences exist between them?? When must be
    used one and when the other? Can I use both at the
    same time?
2.- With the method CRM_CUSTOMER_H_SET_TITLE of
    the Badi definition CRM_CUSTOMER_H_BADI, you can
    change the tittle of the additional tab when using
    CUSTOMER_H extension type. But when you are using
    ACTIVITY_H extension type, instead
    CRM_CUSTOMER_H_BADI the system triggers
    CRM_ACTIVITY_H_BADI, and that Badi doesn´t have any
    method to change the tab tittle. Anybody knows how
    to change the tittle tab in this case???

The difference between ACTIVITY_H and CUSTOMER_H is very simple:
CUSTOMER_H is an SAP delivered segment of the business transaction to contain CUSTOMER defined Header fields for the business transaction.
ACTIVITY_H is an SAP delivered segment of the business transaction designed to hold data specific to business transactions that have a business object type of "Activity"
It is possible to use both at the same time. The normal practice is to use CUSTOMER_H for any new customer fields.
The reason why you don't have a BADI method to change the title of the fields on the tab that corresponds to ACTIVITY_H is that the CUSTOMER_H badi is designed to help "build a tab from the ground up". In other words the ACTIVITY_H is used to help reflect new behavior in that segment, while CUSTOMER_H badi is used to define how that segment will behave.
The simple solution is to use CUSTOMER_H. I really have never seen a valid reason to enhance the other segments of the business transaction header.

How can I stop Firefox from changing Tabs/pages when I use the up/down arrows for scrolling?

A recent update is causing the browser to switch between tabs, or even go on to other pages, when I use the keyboard navigation arrows to scroll down the page. This is aggravating, especially when filling out a form, which can submit before completion. The tab switching occurs mostly when the focus is not in a specific portion of the web page, such as when I have selected a tab. I I can find no way to disable this behavior.

Beachball when switching applications

Almost every time I'm working in Motion, and I switch to another application, then come back to Motion, I get the spinning beachball for about a minute. I've tried the QuickTime re-installation thing with no luck. Any idea of what might be causing this? I'm using Motion 3 with 3GB of RAM and plenty of hard drive space (it happens with Motion 2, as well).

Perhaps you have too many windows open. When you are browsing, a lot of desktop memory is used to switch between windows and links, and the toolbar memory. If you are done on the web,close the window. Also try the yellow button to minimise the window to the dock.Open the windows on your screen by using the dock icon. I'm new to Tiger, but have noticed that on my G3, it seems to take a moment to park the window, before opening the next when clicked to activate.Stickies got under my skin on OS 9, so I kept them turned off. Check your preferences. IPhoto 6 crashes everytime when switching application

iPhoto 6 crashes every single time when I switch to other applications like mail or iWeb via a command inside iPhoto 6 (emailing pics/ building web site, etc.) or via Finder (using application switcher or not). I did pretty much everything previously posted resolutions elsewhere regarding iPhoto 6 crash like rebuilding it, tossing .plist files, correcting permissions, Disk Warrior, etc. Here is iPhoto.crash.log. Any findings, suggestions would be appreciated.

About:config settings change by themselves when switching between windows/linux on dual-boot machine with profile shared between OSs

I dual-boot ubuntu and windows7, and have set up firefox to use the same profile data when running under either OS. This works great, except:
(1) each time I switch OSs and start firefox, it runs the "checking add-on compatibility" test (which is a minor annoyance)
(2) each time I start firefox in ubuntu after recently using it under windows, the about:config setting "browser.backspace.action" gets reset from my preferred setting (0) to the default setting (2).
How can I prevent these two things from happening?

Maybe it is better to use separate profiles for each OS and create symlinks or hard links to the sqlite databases that you want to share.
Your Linux profile may be using extensions (e.g. Ubuntu Firefox Modifications) that modify specific settings and in such a case you can't really prevent this. 
You can use a user.js file to initialize specific prefs on each start, but that makes it impossible to make changes on the about:config page that last the current session and you need to remember which prefs are affected.

Change tab stops when composing mail

For some reason when composing a message, after entering the recipient address, tab to subject, after that I have to tab thru 3 additional stops to get to the message body. I would prefer to tab from subject directly to the message - how can I change the tab stop settings?

Go to System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts and set the radio button near the bottom of the window to "Text boxes and lists only."

10g Preview: Change tab title when browsing javadoc

The new method of displaying Help and Javadoc is great.
When I display the Javadoc for a class by hitting F1 in the Code Editor, a Javadoc tab appears with the title of the class I looked up. All well and good.
When I navigate a link in the Javadoc though, the title of the tab continues to display the name of the class I originally looked up. This can be particularly confusing if the Javadoc pane is scrolled down so the name of the currently viewed class is not visible.
It would be nice if the tab title updated when the content of the window changed. Or, minimally, it should behave like the tab does for an IDE Help topic: just show "Javadoc" with an up-to-date tooltip for the tab reflecting the current class name. I would personally prefer the former solution though.

Easy way to change server settings when switching between home&office

I have the following problem:
When I'm at home my email server (imap/smtp) is mail.mani.pt,
when I'm at the office I address it as 192.16.1.2
Each time I switch locations I have to modify all the account settings in mail. This is a pain.
Is there a easy way of doing this??
In Windows I use an app called PortTunnel where I can redefine certain ports, i.e. localhost:25->192.168.1.2:25 etc
So I only have to activate the different locations here (easy) and in the mail app the server is ALWAYS localhost.
Is there a way to do this under Mac?

If changing the incoming mail server on the fly is problematic, it should make no difference if a script or the user does it manually in the account preference. Since this is something that users may have to do for various reasons (travel, ISP changes, whatever), it would be very lame if Mail could not handle this gracefully.
From what I can tell, Mail 2.x uses the initial mail server name in creating the account's folder but thereafter uses UID's & path names stored in ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist to reference its contents. (For those interested, the property is MailAccounts array.) As long as these don't change, there should be no problems.
However, this suggests that .plist corruption or removing the .plist for troubleshooting could contribute to this kind of problem, so one should be very careful to use the initial mail server name if it becomes necessary to reconstruct the account.
