Change the convert to 128 kbps before transferring to iPhone option?

iTunes gives you the option to convert all higher-bitrate audio to 128 kbps AACs before transferring to my iPhone. Great, except I'd prefer a little higher quality. Is there any way to make it, say, covert to 192 kbps VBR AACs instead?

if you're converting from a lossless format, you could use this:
[_*Lossless to AAC Workflow v2.2*_|http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=losslessaccworkflow]
Two scripts assist with importing/managing Apple Lossless or AIFF audio files and sending converted AAC copies to a mounted iPod set to "manually manage songs and videos".
*Lossless to AAC Workflow (CD->iPod):*
Imports each enabled CD track as an Apple Lossless or AIFF file
Makes a converted AAC copy of each imported file
Adds the AAC file to iPod, deleting the original AAC from iTunes.
*Lossless to AAC Workflow (iTunes->iPod):*
Makes a converted AAC copy of each Apple Lossless or AIFF track selected in iTunes
Adds the AAC file to iPod, deleting the original AAC from iTunes.
In this way you can keep archived lossless files on your hard drive, and manageable AAC files on your iPod.
+Yes, iTunes 9.1 will auto-encode tracks to iPod, but only 128 kbps AAC; these scripts enable use of your Custom AAC encoder setting.+

  • Changing the encoding to 256 kbps from the standard 128 kbps

    I just read an article on the Internet about earbuds, especifically the Shure 4c, in which it was "highly reccomended" to change the encoding to higher levels such as 256 kbps from the "standard" 128 kbps.
    The question is, once you have all your songs in iTunes downloaded at the standard 128 kbps, how do you change the encoding to 256 kbps, without deleting everything and transfering all your CDs, etc, all over again? Can it be done without the obvious, do it all over?
    Thanks

    Pedro, this will not be possible. You can't convert a lower bitrate to a higher one & gain anything in quality. The maximum data has already been compressed & removed under the lower bitrate & can't be put back. If you truly want the benefits of the higher bitrate, it would be much better to re-import your CD's at the 256 bitrate. Post back if you have any questions.

    I had to change the computer I have iTunes installed on, my iPhone is still looking for the old computer to sync over WiFi.  How do I change the WiFi computer associated to my iPhone?

    Hi Terri571,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    See these steps for setting up Wi-Fi syncing between your iPhone and new computer:
    iOS: Syncing with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1386
    Wi-Fi syncing
    Open iTunes
    To set up Wi-Fi syncing, connect your iOS device to your computer with the included USB cable. Select your device under Devices on the left-hand side.
    In the Summary tab, select "Sync with this [device] over Wi-Fi".
    Whenever the computer and the iOS device are on the same network, the iOS device will appear in iTunes, and you can sync it. The iOS device will sync automatically when all of the following are true:
    The iOS device is plugged in to power
    iTunes is open on the computer
    The iOS device and the computer are on the same Wi-Fi network
    While the iOS device appears in the left-hand column of iTunes, you can select the content tabs and configure sync options.
    Click Apply or Sync to sync the iOS device.
    If the iOS device does not appear in the Devices section or you are unable to sync, please see this article for troubleshooting.

  • Converting to 128 kbps

    In iTunes 9.03, if you have an iPod, you can choose to convert all higher bit rates to 128 kbps, so you can put more songs on your iPod. What I want to know is: does this conversion affect the actual file, or converts iTunes it specially for the iPod (so the file on your Mac, with the higher bit rate, isn't gone)?

    After much testing, I have, to my satisfaction, verified that there is a problem with iTunes 9.1.1 (11) new [Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC] function. After enabling the function for the first time, and all songs had been converted, I discovered that all songs with lyrics had been REMOVED from my iPod touch (64GB 3rd Generation). Thereafter, at EVERY sync, the SAME songs were "updated" but never showed up on the iPod.
    I removed the lyrics from the songs, re-synced, and the songs were transferred to the device.
    I then added-back the lyrics and synced the device. The songs were then placed on the iPod WITH the lyrics but the songs are now, again, re-updating (each song) at EVERY sync.
    I plan to wait until an update to iTunes is released. If this issue is not corrected after that, I will RESTORE the device and report back.

  • Error -50 when trying to convert to 128 Kbps AAC

    I try to convert all my files to 128 KBPs but about halfway through one of the songs gets an error (-50) and it wont go on. I wanted to do this because I heard it makes the songs take up less room and my iPods almost full. If it helps any I'm using the latest version of iTunes on Windows 7 65 bit.

    Unless you happen to catch the name of the song it's syncing, I don't see how you are going to narrow this down.
    While syncing, if you click on the ipod in the left list, you can make the little triangle point down. Then click on the word Music underneath that. (Not the main music library, in other words)
    There will be little circles next to each song when that song is getting synced. There will also be the song name in the top oval. If you happen to catch that song's name, you could uncheck it and itunes won't try to sync it.

  • How do I change the bitrate to 128 on my iPod Touch?

    On iTunes I found the place to change future songs to 128 bitrate, which I did.  The songs in iTunes are still showing 256 or higher.  How do I find out if the songs on my Ipod Touch are 128 or still 256?  How do I change the existing songs on iTunes and my iPod Touch to 128?  I want to do this because my Ipod Touch is only 8gb and right now it will only hold 752 songs - someone suggested I change the bitrate to make more room.  Thanks.

    iTunes only converts a copy and then sync that to the iPod. iTunes does not convert/change the bitrate of the songs in your iTunes  library.
    If the songs are already on your iPod, if you sync automatically the songs on the iPod should be automatically converted.
    If you sync manually, you have to delete the songs from the iPod and resync.
    The only way to know if the songs have been converted is to go to Settings>General>Usage>Music>Music and see that less storage space it taken by the music

  • Change the attribute "src" to "href" before importing an XML

    I need to change the attribute "src" to "href" (<img scr="....">) before importing an XML document. I think you could do with XSLT, so you can add a script to import XML documents. But I do not know much about XSLT ...
    Does anyone could give me an idea?
    Thanks in advance...!!!

    Piece of cake. Here is an identity transform, except that it filters out "src" attributes:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0" >
    <xsl:template match="node()|@*">
      <xsl:copy>
        <xsl:apply-templates select="node()|@*"/>
      </xsl:copy>
    </xsl:template>
    <xsl:template match="@src">
      <xsl:attribute name="href">
          <xsl:value-of select="."/>
       </xsl:attribute>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>

  • How do I change the thumbnail that is displayed before I click play on my movie?

    I want to change the thumbnail but can't figure out how?

    That is your admin account on the computer. Simple solution:
    Create a new admin user account to your liking. Log into that new account then delete the old account.

  • Itunes does not sync 128 kbps songs to my iphone

    I have tried both manual and automatic sync. All Other bitrates work fine, the songs also play fine in iTunes. They have also been working fine on my iphone until recently, but they suddenly vanished and will not resync.

    OK. I managed to fix this. That's what I did:
    1. In Finder, make copy the audio files that won't synchronize.
    2. Rename the files e.g. appending a "2" at the end of the name.
    3. Import the files in iTunes (drag and drop from Finder into iTunes' Library)
    4. Rename the album in iTunes (e.g. also append a "2" at the end of the album's name)
    5. Put the new files in a Playlist and synchronize
    After that I removed the original files and changed the names back so that the copy is like the original was before.
    I suppose the important thing is to make iTunes "think" that those are new files. Note that I did remove the files from iTunes and add them back without renaming or copying and it did not work. I supposse that the copying and/or renaming is important.
    Hope this helps.

    Will

  • How do i change the media type on a digital booklet when they option bar is greyed out?

    I downloaded an album a couple days ago which came with a digital booklet. I am trying to put it on my phone but need to change the media type to book to be able to do this. whenever I go to the get info tab, the options tab is completely greyed out and wont let me do anything to it. I have tried selecting read only on the file and it did not work. I have windows 8. If there's is any different way of getting this on my phone, anything would be great!

    The item must not be read only if you want to change it.
    In the new Get Info dialog the Media Kind is in a light grey. Next to that will be the word Music. Hover over it and you should see that it is part of a drop down list control, click and select Book.

  • How do I change the Email under iCloud Account Information on my iPhone 5?

    I set up my Apple ID and iCloud using [email protected]
    But a few days ago, in order to sync my Notes or Messages (I don't remember which), my Macbook said I had to create an iCloud.com e-mail address. So I made one. But the problem is that I my [email protected]'s iCloud account now uses the iCloud e-mail address.
    When I go to Settings > iCloud > Account ([email protected]) > Mail > Email ([email protected]), to try to change the Email ack to [email protected] the Email option is grayed out... How come I can't use my own Gmail account w/ my Gmail-set-up Apple ID account... I don't even use the iCloud e-mail address so it's completely useless to have it linked to my iCloud account.
    I know I could just set up another account through Settings > Mail in order to view my Gmail in the Mail application... but I like to be consistent and have my Gmail email w/ my Gmail Apple ID. ANYWAY TO FIX THIS?????????

    I'm trying to delete the iCloud account on new iPhone 5 so I can change the email address to the new email address I use, but iPhone won't let me delete without turning off Find my iPhone for which it asks me for Apple ID password using that old email!!! Argh!

  • Is there a way to change the Apple ID you're using on your iPhone?

    I recently got an iPhone 3 and I am using my brothers ID to download apps but he won't tell me his password and its really inconvenient having to ask him to put it in every time, so I was wondering if theres a way to change the one your using as I have another on I can now use instead. Please if you have any thoughts on how to do this please tell me. Thanks

    Hi,
    try
    Settings->Store
    click on the existing appleId (your brothers), click 'sign out'. You should then be able to sign-in, but this time select 'Create New Apple ID'
