    I want to change the systems environment variable when I run my Java application, what happens when I close the program does not concern me. And I dont just want to fetch whats currently there, I want to change them and then use them in my program.

  • Need advice on Environment variables for DAC

    Hi,
    I have made the following changes to DAC_ENV.sh file in DAC folder.
    export PATH=$PATH:c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server/bin:c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server:.
    export PM_HOME=c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server
    export INFA_DOMAINS_FILE=c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/domains.infa
    export PM_REPHOME=c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server/bin
    Later executed, . ./config.sh and noticed pmcmd is not getting invoked.
    Once i changed, PM_HOME to c:/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server/bin, pmcmd is getting invoked properly.
    But, i shouldn't specify 'INFA_HOME/server/bin' for PM_HOME as per the documentation, but somehow i was getting errors when i followed the instructions.
    Please let me know if it causes any issues going forward.
    Our version is, OBI 10.1.3.3.3

    Yes. I found the instructions confusing too.
    The docs
    Oracle® Business Intelligence Applications Installation Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.5.1 Part Number E13765-01
    Chapter 4 Installing and Setting Up Oracle BI Applications
    Configuring the DAC Server
    Enabling DAC Server Communication with Informatica PowerCenter
    How to Verify the DAC Server Is Able to Use pmrep and pmcmd
    How to Set Environment Variables on UNIX or Linux
    says change from
    export PM_HOME=%INFORMATICA_SERVER_LOCATION%
    to
    export PM_HOME=/home/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server
    The actual file from the install of BIApps 7.9.5.1 cotains INFA_HOME not PM_HOME
    #Note1: %INFORMATICA_SERVER_LOCATION% denotes location of
    # Informatica PowerCenter Services installation.
    # Example: /home/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server
    export INFA_HOME=%INFORMATICA_SERVER_LOCATION%
    But, in any case, by following these instructions the environment is not set correctly
    pmrep/pmcmd both throw
    FATAL ERROR during initialization: Error initializing /data/app/oracle/product/10.1.3/bi_2/oraclebi/DAC/pmlocale.bin. Make sure the environment variable INFA_HOME is defined and set to where Informatica products are installed. Application terminated.
    A fix is to set INFA_HOME and not PM_HOME to the root of the home for informatica
    For example
    */home/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1*
    - not /home/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/*server*,
    - not /home/Informatica/PowerCenter8.1.1/server/*bin*
    Now when you test pmcmd and pmrep it works :)
    For example,
    $ cat dac_env.sh | grep INFA_HOME
    export INFA_HOME=/data/app/oracle/product/8.1.1/informaticapowercenter_1
    $ . ./config.sh
    $ echo $PM_HOME
    $ echo $INFA_HOME
    /data/app/oracle/product/8.1.1/informaticapowercenter_1
    $ pmcmd

  • Can I change the standard text for web item 'INFO_FIELD_ITEM'?

    Hello experts.
    I made a WAD template using web item 'INFO_FIELD_ITEM'.  In data binding, I used the 'Last refresh' of general text elements.   As a result, in the web browser I can see the last update date & time. (e.g. 'Last refresh: 2007.01.17 17:34:44') Then our customer want to change the default text "Last refresh" as "Working time".
    How can I change this?
    I tried to change the text symbols for program SAPLRRSV. But it worked only in Bex Analyzer not in the web.
    Our server version is Netweaver 2004s and SP10.
    Best regards.
    JY Park.

    Hello,
    I had the same problem - just wanted to display the values of a variable in an info-field, but not the caption.
    I found out, that there's a tag for Info-Field Item called ONLY_VALUES (it's the checkbox under the headers visible checkbox in the properties dialog of the Info-Field Item; in my WAD version, there's no label assigned to this checkbox, so it was not easy to find out what it should be),
    You have to set it to 'X' (check it) ; then you get the unformatted value of the variable (no caption anymore).
    <bi:INFO_FIELD_ITEM name="INFO_FIELD_ITEM_1" designheight="500" designwidth="350" >  <bi:WIDTH value="350" />
    <bi:HEIGHT value="500" />
    <bi:DATA_PROVIDER_REF value="DP_1" />
    <bi:HEADERS_VISIBLE value="" />
    <bi:ONLY_VALUES value="X" />
    You have to insert the info-field item between span tags so that you can define your own formatting values.
    The ONLY_VALUES tag works the same as the tag 'RENDER_AS_TEXT' you have with the text item , see
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/e3/e60138fede083de10000009b38f8cf/frameset.htm
    There's only one disadvantage: If you have chosen a lot of variable values (multiple selection), the variable string gets very long and no line break is performed, because all blanks in the string are replaced by nbsp's. I solved this with a little Java Script, replacing the appropriate nbsp-s with br tags.
    Hope it helps

    How do i change the permission level for Itunes

    I have actually been using Amazon cloud for a while now and never had this problem. Actually, I think I did get locked out once and was able to get back in by contacting support and answering some questions. This option isn't available with Apple.. They lock you out for 90 days regardless of whether you can verify your ID. I know this because I contacted them recently and they verified my identity exhaustively and then said 'sorry-there's nothing we can do and you are not  getting a refund for time lost.'  I think I understand why the policy is there, but I think it's ridiculous that they make no exceptions even when the mistake is on their side, which I'm pretty sure it is in my case.

  • Setting the environment variable

    I just installed the rpm for the 1.4 SDK on my RedHat 7.1 box. Does anyone know how I can set the environment variable so it will recognize Java from the command line? Thanks in advance.

    You need to set a couple of environment variables in your "profile" script. Which one, exactly, depends on the shell you use. It's probably .profile on your home directory.
    Try
    JAVA_HOME=/usr/java1.4 (or wherever it really is)
    PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin
    export JAVA_HOME,PATH
