Change the name of company in SAP

Hi Sap Experts
my requirement is to change company name in sap 4.7
till cutoff date all data/reports must exist with previous company code/name and after that cutoff date all data/reports will be assigned to new company code/name. both companies will be separate entities and work will done only in single company. is it required of fresh customizing with new company code and also customizing of all other modules or we can do this task without a fresh customizing wih small changes. modules using are FI/MM/SD/QM/PM/PP . Z-working also involved with a number of tables.
ie. existing company code/name - 1000 ABC LTD. (till 31.5.2010)
new company code/name - 2000 xyz Ltd. (from 01.06.2010)
need expert guidance at war level . Thanks in advance

Since one legal entity will cease to exist and a new legal entity will come into being, you will have to follow all the period end closure procedures.
Also you will need the BS,P&L,Cash flow statements then the year end process also will have to be completed,
A new company code will have to be created and the balances of the old company code will be transferred to the new company code.
If it suffices that only the B&S items and the retained earnings need to be transferred then after the year end process the balances can be shifted to the new company code.

I have tried to do the same from frontend from document numbering but the problem is since there are no separate series for Down Payment request & invoice when I change the name there only the down payment invoice name changes while down payment request remains the same. I don't know a way to do it like you mentioned, but you can just use the UI. There's loads of ways to do it but you could catch the form load event on before action = true, and do

If you are happy to have the changed field label appear everywhere in your SAP system (e.g. to change the label on "STCEG" from "VAT reg no" to something applicable for your country like "ABN") then have a look at Tcode CMOD, and use the Goto > Text Enhancements > Keywords > Change menu option and try that mechanism.

I have installed a SAP ECC 6 ehp4 on MS sql server 2008 R2 with MS windows 2008 R2 OS. While installing sql server i have selected named instance from window(default instance, named instance). and given name QAS.
and installed ECC6 ehp4 ABAP engine successfully. now i want to change the name of mssql server's named instance name to DEV.
kindly let me know
which one is the best and easy solution
1. changing the name of named istance at database level and SAP.
2. or uninstalling the existing SAP, DB and start from scratch.
if first is the best, what would be the steps

How to change the name of a Box Object in Crystal Reports 2008

I am trying to change the name of a box object in a crystal report - 2008. This report was originally developed by consultants and requires that certain boxes be named according to a specific naming convention. I am making a change to the report and need to add a box with a name that matches the naming convention. This is so some program functionality will work for the new box. I can't contact the consultants because they don't work with our company anymore.
Does anybody have any ideas? I've tried 'Format Box', but it won't let me change the name from there. I also tried it in the Report Explorer but to no avail.

Hi Joanne,
Boxes do not actually have a 'name'. When you add a Box in a report, it will be called 'Box 1' by default. And the only place this name is visible is under the Report Explorer.
Or do you mean to say 'Text Object'?

We installed a new router and changed the name of the router. Now my HP C4500 printer won't print.

Our cable company installed a new wireless router and changed the name of the router. Now my HP C4500 printer won't print from my laptop.
I can't find any ot the Set Up stuff I used initially.
Is there any way to get my printer to work again...wirelessly?

Get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page. When you start the installation it will ask what kind of installation you would like. Choose "Wireless" or "Network" then click "Next".
Eventually it will ask you to plug in a USB cable to the printer temporarily to communicate the new router's info to the printer. Make sure to not plug in the USB until it asks.

in the link editor you can use the Dynamic Link (see [Expression Editor|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mii121/helpdata/EN/45/b89adfaf1447f7e10000000a114a6b/frameset.htm]).
With the dynamic link, you can enclose the property that contains the value with "#", which makes MII evaluate the value rather than use the property name. In your example, it looks something like this:
ReceiveXML{/Rowsets/Row[name='#MyProperty#']}

I need to change the name of the machine where SAP WAS is installed. It also has a Portal & KM in it.
Will the machine name change affect the WAS/Portal in any way?
If so, what are the changes I have to do to make it work?

I got the following from NI support to change the name of the company that is copyrighting the software.
1. To show the desired hidden folder, you must select Tools>> Folder Options >> View >> Under 'Files and Folders'>> 'Hidden files and folders' >> check the 'Show hidden files, folders, or drives' >> Select 'ok'
2. Navigate to C:\ProgramData
3. Open ProgramData >> National Instruments >> LVProductDLLInfo >> 12.0.0 >>LabVIEW_ADE_120000.ini ***Please note that the folder 12.0.0 may instead be 14.1.0 or another numeric value based on which version of LabVIEW you are using***
4. Change the RegisteredOrganization and RegisteredOwner to the appropriate organization and owner respectively.
The fix NI support sent me was to change the name of the current software owner.
The company that owns the software is usually writing the program for another company that is paying to have it developed. If the software owner is not careful they may assign the copyright to their company or to the company that they developed software for last. I am sure that the company that had software developed will be surprised if their name is not listed as the legal copyright owner.

I've found it now (sheepishly). It is a parameter defined in Home->Application Builder->Application 693->Application Attributes->Edit Definition. I thought it was using the database nls parameters, but it isnt. So I simply had to change the parameter value from $ to £.

You could press tab to display the choose from list (CFL) form. you could also type the initial name of item but it will not correct 100%. Just press tab and then type the item code or name in the find. particularly for name, you must click 2 types the item description.

Change the name from Portal Favorites to Portal Favourites

Hi,
There is a requirement that where ever in Portal, the name of Portal Favorites should be changed to Portal Favourites.
So when I add something to Portal Favorites in Portal, then there we get Organize Entries in the context menu and opening this it will open a pop-up having name as Favorites.
I searched and come to know that this is coming from a folder under KM Content /userhome/<portal-userid>/Favorites.
If I changes the name Favorites to Favourites then it reflects to that corresponding id, but changing from here for every portal-userid will be very difficult.
Can someone tell how we can change on global basis for every portal user.

Hi there,
The iView called "Favorites" in Content Provided by SAP > End User Content > Standard Portal Users > iViews > com.sap.km.iviews points to a KM folder which you can find in Content Administration > KM Content > root > Entry Points > Favorites. You can change the name of this folder: with Entry Points > Favorites selected choose Folder > Details and then Settings > Properties, set the name to whatever you like and click Save.
Now this isn't 100% effective but if a user accesses the Organize Entries command from the Favorites context menu, they will now see your custom folder name. A preview of the iView will show the same.
What this doesn't do is change the name of the Entry Point, so a user looking under Documents will still see the heading "Favorites". According to SAP Help this can be changed by creating a custom bundle file, but despite following the steps detailed in [Changing Labels and Symbols for Entry Points|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/36/8b6b4066d9bf49e10000000a1550b0/content.htm] I have not had success with this.

This is a tricky one. Even if it is not related to SAP CRM WebClient in any way as you are using standard HTML INPUT tag. That is not THTMLB or CHTMLB tag library.
The probolem is: For a file upload field behind the field there is a button that shows always the same text. In english version "Browse" in germany it is "Durchsuchen" you can not change it. It is hardcoded in the browser for that specific language.

Need to change the name of a GP process instance at runtime.

Is there a way to change the name of a GP process instance at runtime? I would like to change the name of the process instance to include the employee's name who initiated the process. This way when the process owner or overseer displays thier list of processes from the GP Runtime Work Center, they can tell who initiated each process.
Does anyone know how to do this?

If the users are invoking the Process from Web Dynpro or some other application using GP API, then you can try the followigI.
You can try using the startProcess() method of the IGPRuntimeManager object. It has multiple paramaters of which two(second and third) are for the userProvidedName and userProvidedDescription. You can set any name and description while invoking the GP process and the name and description should appear in the Runtime for the owners/overseers/administrators in hte list of process instances. You can add the name of the Employee while setting that name and description.
