Changing Applications default content type for e.g fro Adobe Acrobat 7 to Adobe Acrobat Document

How can I change the default Applications content type, currently it point to Adobe Acrobat 7.0 the correct content type should be Adobe Acrobat Document.

See the [[managing file types]] article, in particular the section on changing download actions. You may need to select "Use other" and browse to the application if it is not listed as one of the default options.

  • Can I change the default 'File Type' for PL/SQL Source File to '*.prc' ?

Want to change the 'default' extension for PL/SQL source to '*.prc'
When navigating 'File' / 'Save As', and selecting the 'File Type' list box,
The default 'File Type' for PL/SQL Source File is '*.pls'.
Can I change the default 'File Type' for PL/SQL Source File to '*.prc' ?
I have followed , 'Tools', 'Preferences' , 'File Types' and added '.prc' as 'Sql Script' file type, because (PL/SQL Source) is not present in the list.

You can certainly overwrite the 'Save As' extension as you are saving the file. I have added an ER for more control over this functionality.

  • Can I change the default paper type for a printer?

I have a client that prints off a lot of paperwork from an insurance company. They have barcodes that go pretty much to the end of the page that are nessesary for fileing. The default print setup cuts off the barcode and a few code numbers.
If I manually change the default paper size from 8.5x11 to 8.5x11 borderless, it works! However I can't seem to get that setting to stick using profiles or the System Preferences.
The profiles change everything but the paper size. And the System Preferences have the top level sizes (8.1x11) but not the more specific borderless versions of it.
    Any ideas?

Taking Firefox (or even iTunes) as example, click File>Page Setup. In the resulting window, select the paper size setting and then in Settings, choose Save as Default. In Safari it's a bit different, but there too you get an option to "save current settings as preset", whereby you can name that setting, save it and select it, to be used the next time you print.

  • How do I change the default save location for new files in Pages back from iCloud to my Documents folder?

I just upgraded OSX to Mountain Lion and Pages to 4.2, and because OSX is syncing with my iCloud account, when I go to save a new file in Pages it defaults to try to save to my iCloud account rather than giving me the folder structure on my hard-drive that I prefer. It requires two extra steps to save to the proper place in my Documents folder on my hard drive.
Is there a way to reset the default so that when I go to save a new file, the folder structure opens to the last saved folder (like it does in other non-iCloud applications) rather than defaulting to my iCloud, and to do it without just removing documents from my iCloud account entirely?
I checked the Preferences for both Pages and iCloud and found nothing about this.

What I meant is turn off Documents and Data in iCloud in OS X. Keep it on on your iOS devices. iCloud will sync documents between the iOS devices and make them available on the iCloud web site, but it won't mess up iWorks' open and save dialog boxes. It also won't assume that you want all your documents in iCloud, which I think is undesirable anyway.
Keep iOS and OS X separate, and use the web site to move files between the two as necessary.
iOS iWork is different from OS X iWork. There are fewer fonts on an iOS device. iOS iWork programs have slightly different feature sets than OS X iWork programs, and the file formats are different. iCloud automatically converts the file format when necessary, but if you make a habit of saving things directly to iCloud, you are limited to the lowest common denominator between the two versions of iWorks. So why would anyone want iWork on the Mac to open and save documents on iCloud by default?
If you want to store files in the cloud and sync them on your Macs, SugarSync is a much better solution. It lets you choose your sync folders, it doesn't make you reorganize your files, it lets you sync all file types, it doesn't convert files to a different format and back, and it stores everything in the cloud, too. Just the simle act of saving a file backs it up and syncs it. I wouldn't live without it. iCloud is best with iTunes purchases and synchronizing Mac settings and iOS files; I woudln't live without it. The two make an unbeatable combination.

  • Document Set default content type

When defining a document set, you can define what content types can be used in a document set.  If, after uploading a document, the user cancels the properties page, the default content type for the library is assigned to the document (even though the
document set does not permit the content type).  This is obviously a bug.  There have been several posts on this and it appears 2013 has the bug as well as 2010.
We are seeking a work around to this bug.
Is it possible in in the client object model by placing a CEWP in the editform.aspx to force a content type on the item when the form is loaded?
The other option is to modifiy the url that opens EditForm.aspx to force the content type.  Unfortunately the link that opens the EditForm.aspx page cannot be modified in the document library.

    Hi Clem_FRB,
I did a test in my environment and I reproduce this issue.
As a workaround, I suggest you change the content type or return an error in ItemAdded Event Receiver for document library.

  • Change Cloaking Default File Types

    Hello,
I've looked everywhere, and I can't figure this one out. I
want to change the default file types for cloaking. Even better
would be to be able to add default directory names (It's
Dreamweaver--so I can dream, can't I?). Is there a way to edit the
list of default file types for cloaking? I can't figure out how to
    do it.
    Thanks!

Unless there's been a change in Lion, use the 'get info' selection by right-clicking on the file, and choose the alternative application from there.
Below the drop-down for the app selection, there's a button to change all files of that type to open with the chosen app.

  • Assign default content type to any library automactially when site get created or people add the library

we are on on premise environment, and we have a requirement that when people create a site or a sub site or even when they add a new document library , we want to ensure our custom content type is assigned as default content type to this library.
the question is that is there any non-full trust solution, i know we probably can do it via feature stapling, or custom site template stuff. but they are NOT considered as we want PLA compliance

    Hi,
As I understand, you would like to asscoiate a custom content type to a library when the library is created.
With OOB option, you could try add this content type to an existing library, and save library as template. Then the library template should appear in Your Apps page, that is to say, users can directly create document library based on this template.
As I tested, new document library created based on this template contains custom content type by default.
With programatically methods, please refer to the similar threads below:

  • Getting invalid content type for SOAP: TEXT/HTML exception for Soap Adapter

I am trying to invoke Webservice using SOAP Receiver Adapter
    but I am getting error
<SAP:AdditionalText>com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.DeliveryException: invalid content type for SOAP: TEXT/HTML</SAP:AdditionalText>

    Regards

    HI,
    see
    •     Q: What character encoding is supported by the SOAP sender adapter?
A: The SOAP sender adapter can accept any character encoding supported by the local JDK. When you are using a particular character encoding with content type text/xml, you must make sure that the encoding name given in the content type and in the XML declaration must be consistent. What makes this more complex is that the default values. The default encoding for "text/xml" is US-ASCII, whereas the default encoding for the XML declaration is UTF-8 or UTF-16. The following examples show several valid combinations of content-type and XML declartion:
               text/xml
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='us-ascii'?>
               text/xml; charset='utf-8'
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
               text/xml; charset='utf-8'
               no declaration
               text/xml; charset='iso-8859-1'
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='iso-8859-1'?>
               application/xml
               <?xml version='1.0' encoding='iso-8859-1'?>
The response message from the SOAP sender is normally encoded in UTF-8. If you want to change this encoding, for instance to iso-8859-1, you can supply the encoding information with the xmlenc variable in the request URL as in:
               http://host:port /XISOAPAdapter/MessageServlet?channel=p:s:c&xmlenc=iso-8859-1

  • Response Content type for WLP Disc API calls

    Hi
While using WLP Disc APIs in the portal for AJAX calls, the response content type returned by the weblogic portal server is:
    text/x-netuix-json-comment-filtered; charset=ISO-8859-1
This is not getting changed to 'application/json' inspite of setting this as the content type for a JSF JSP.
    Probably, looks like a bug.
We have a JSF portlet in which we need to make an AJAX call.
Please refer to the weblogic whitepaper for the AJAX examples (weblogic-portal-jsf-whitepaper.pdf).
The example works fine in the dev/build environment. When the portal server is accepting calls through Sun One webserver,
the logs from the webserver show the response content type from the portal server as "text/x-netuix-json-comment-filtered; charset=ISO-8859-1"
    - I tried changing the content type to "application/json" in the JSF JSP (as per the example from the pdf file). Still the content type does not change.
    - The response from the portal server is suffixed with "\n\r\t". Because of the trailing space/carriage return chars in the portal server response, the sun one webserver is unable to parse (or) eliminate the "\r\n\d" chars to the browser. When the browser receives a response (with the trailing chars), the module.js (weblogic wrapper API for DISC calls) fails.
    - The module.js tries to check whether the response from portal server ends with "**/" but unfortunately, the weblogic protal server returns
    "/** %json response%**/\n\r\d"
I found a workaround to this issue by having a filter for the JSF JSP which sets the content type as "application/json" and does a flush() before it makes a call to the JSF JSF which responsds to an ajax call. This works as the content type is set and flushed first so any attempt by the portal server to set as "text/x-netuix-json-comment-filtered" does not get reflected in the http response.
Any support/fix from oracle regarding this will be helpful as most of the webserver integration with the portal server happens during the middle of the project build and might lead to a technical risk.
Server details: WLPS 10.3, Sun One 7.0
    Thanks
    Ananth Krishnan

The problem as you can see is only related to the URL because the webservice is not expecting the URL. Have you changed the wsdl also for the new scenario? The URL can be rechecked to the one present in the wsdl at bottom of it.

    Prateek

                        String disHeader = "Attachment;Filename=\""+fileNameStr+"\"";
                        response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", disHeader);
when I am using above code to open the files from the database, and filename stored with the extension then open dialog box is gets opened and and click on open will open the document/ file in respective/default software installed.
I want open with dialog box to select the software by which the file should be opened, for that when I remove the extension from the filename, its taking html as a default content type and opening in the browser.
How to do it .. ?

you are correct but its client requirement that when he click on the the filname he want to look open/save dialog box and when he clicks on the open , OPEN WITH DIALOG should appear where he can choose the program/software to open the file.

  • SBS 2011 GPO for changing the default save location for Word/Excel 2013 not working

So this is a strange one. I've got an SBS 2011 server that's the only domain controller in the org. I've created a GPO to change the default save location for Excel 2013 and Word 2013 using the Office 2013 ADMX files which were installed to the PolicyDefinitions
    folder.
The GPO (U-Office2013 Default Save Location) only contains:
    1. User Configuration - Microsoft Excel 2013/Excel Options/Save - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
    2. User Configuration - Microsoft Word 2013/Word Options/Advanced/File Locations - Default file location - Enabled - Z:\
The GPO is linked at the OU that contains my users for my SBS organization.
When I do a gpupdate /force on a windows 7 system with office2013 installed, and then run a gpresult/rsop, the policy appears to be applied successfully as it lists my GPO under the Applied GPOs list on the workstation:
    Applied GPOs
Default Domain Policy dyndns.local AD (24), Sysvol (24)
    U-Office2013 Default Save Location domain.local/SBSusers AD (6), Sysvol (6)
In the gpresult report, the applied settings appear under:
    Administrative Templates
    Extra Registry Settings
    software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\excel\options\defaultpath Z:\ U-Office2013 Default Save Location
    software\policies\microsoft\office\15.0\word\options\doc-path Z:\ U-Office2013 Default Save Location
BUT, when I go to the workstation, and check office->options-Save-default file path, the path has not been changed to what the GPO is pushing.
The strange thing is that in my test environment running 2008R2 server and Win7 with Office 2013 and identical settings the default save location is applied and works as expected.
    Any ideas?
I've already tried re-installing the ADMX templates and re-created the GPO's several times.
I should also note that other GPO's on the SBS2011 server such as the folder redirection GPO work as expected on the same windows 7 system. It just appears to be an issue with the default save location in office2013 and other Office 2013 related GPOs which
utilize the recently added ADMX template that don't seem to be working for me.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Justin,
Thanks for your reply. I have tried several different user accounts (all have local admin privileges to the workstation) with the same issue. The default save path does not get applied from the GPO to any of the users i've tried. Here's the steps I took
    per your suggestion:
    1. log on as a user who has never logged onto the workstation before.
    2. run gpupdate /force (entered y for yes when prompted to log off).
    3. Log back in as the user and open Office and check the default save path. It has not been changed to match the GPO setting.
    4. Check rsop to see if the policy was applied. Rsop states the gpo was applied successfully.
I have attached the gpsvc.log file from a the session described above. The GPO Guid in question is: {DC3C93EC-7C28-48E9-BA38-FCA1E275A207}. Its common name is: U-Word 2013 Default Save Location. It's only setting is:

Anyone any idea what's the reason for this error?

    Hi Edmond,
We faced similar problem & found alternative.
Try out, if it works for u as well.
    1) Use HTTP Adapter instead of SOAP.
    Transport Protocol : HTTP 1.0
Message Protocol : XI Payload in HTTP Body
    Adapter Engine : Integration Server
    Addressing type : URL Address.
    Target Host:
    Service Number :
    Path Prefix:
Authentication type : we hv used Ananymus login, as our login details in payload header.
Content Type : application/soap+xml;charset=UTF-8( this is IMP).
    Header Fields.
    Name         value
    Host           target host
    XI Payload Manipulation
    XML Code : UTF-8
    Hope, this helps...
