Changing default apple id for app update

When I go into the app store and try to update all, it goes to a different apple id by default.  It says I'm logged into my ID but goes to a different one.  How do I fix this problem?

Were those apps that have updates originally download by the account that is showing ? If there were then only that account will be able to download updates to those apps, all content from Apple is tied to the account that downloaded it. If they were downloaded by the account that you are logged in as then does that show at the bottom of, for example, the Featured tab in the App Store app ?

  • How do I change my apple ID for apps update?

My apple ID for apps update differs from my usual apple ID. How do I match them so that I can update the apps (refuses my password)

I am using the apple ID that I want but my iphone asks me for the old apple ID's password to update the apps and I don't know what to enter since what I enter, prompts a message that says that my password is less than a year old and I need a new one. I don't want the iphone ID but the iTune ID instead

  • Apple ID for app updates does not match new Apple ID cannot get updates

Can someone tell me how to get the Apple ID for app updates to match new changed Apple ID?
I can get new apps with new ID but not updates....old ID shows up and will not accept password.

Your advice is to change my Apple ID again?
No I gave you a link to try to get a new password to work with the old Apple ID.
And are you saying that I will not be able to access any updates for apps that were acquired under the original Apple ID and password?
I am saying that the only way to update apps acquired with the old Apple ID is with the old Apple ID. You cannot update them with a new Apple ID.

  • How to change apple id for app updates

The user id that displays on my ipod is correct on the settings menu but when I try to update my apps, the apple id that displays (and wants a password) is one that I no longer use.  How can I change the apple id for this one function to my current correct one?  I've tried poking around all the settings and can't find where to change it.  Once it is changed, I can then use my regular password.   Thanks!

    Hi jabsykes,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like you may have downloaded or purchased applications from two different Apple IDs. To update those applications, you will need to sign in to the Apple ID that downloaded the applications initially. Please use the attached article for instructions on how to sign out and sing in to different Apple IDs on your iOS device.

  • Changing default apple id for iCloud?

I have changed my apple id in Itunes and in settings for user in my mac - BUT when I go to icloud on the mac it always defaults to old apple ID !! help please?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

  • Why my iPad requires apple id for app updates coming from iTunes?

This also applies to my iPhone, but basically since the last time I changed my Apple ID password, everytime I use the sync-with-iTunes process to update app's that have been downloaded to iTunes first, the iPad and iPhone both ask for my Apple ID password. The Apple ID is correct, and I have checked all saved passwords in both devices are correct, but when I sync I still get asked for my Apple ID password which previously never happened, and so to my knowledge is not supposed to be happening.
    Any ideas?

This is also happening to apps being installed through "Automatic Downloads" which is on for both devices.

  • Apple Id for App updates

    Hello,
I have a question - my ex boyfriend set up my Iphone when I got it so he used his Apple Id (he has a macbook) but since then we broke up and I hav ecreated my own Apple Id but all of a sudden, my phone is asking me of his Apple Id to update my apps... I have been to my settings and changed the Id in the Itunes Store/App Store section but that didn't change the fact that I still need to input his Apple Id password to be able to update my apps.
Anyone had the same issue / knows how to resolve this?
    Thank you!

The apps are attached to the Apple ID used to download them. There is nothing you can do to change that. You could always delete the apps and re-download them with your Apple ID.
    Hope that helps

  • How to revert my apple id for apps update

I too have the same question......When I try to update iPhoto on my macbook pro via the App Store, despite being signed in to the app store with my Apple details, the apple id on the iPhoto update has an old email address which can't be changed, as it's greyed out. How do I update to current email address?

  • HT201413 INCORRECT/OLD Apple ID for App updates in App Store!

I am unable to update my Apps. Every time I  select "Update", I am asked to confirm the password for my OLD/PREVIOUS Apple ID which I no longer use. I have already updated all Settings with my new Apple ID, email and information weeks ago...this is the only item that asks for my old ID.

Content acquired via iTunes is permanently tied to the Apple ID it was acquired with.
Enter the correct password for the Apple ID that is being prompted.
The only other option is to delete the content then re-acquire it with the current Apple ID>

  • Removing Apple ID for App Updates

I am renting an iPad from my college. When I connected it to my Mac I was able to put my apps, music, etc. I was able to get it assoiciated partially  with my iTunes account but, I cannot update apps. The other account is from the loaner departement I got the iPad from. I also made a in-app purchase but I did it on my iPhone because I could not do it on the iPad. Is their any way to get around the orginal iTunes account so I can update apps, and presubly unlock the in-app purched content? Thanks for the replies

When you want to update apps, you have to use the ID that was used to purchases the apps. Purchases are always tied to the ID used to make the purchases. That means that you have to sign into the other ID in order to update those apps. Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap your ID and sign out! then sign in with the other ID.
What you do not want to do is download previously purchased apps with the other ID because then you will associate the pad with that ID and lock yourself out of your own ID for 90 days.
Were you trying to make an in app purchase for one of the apps that you purchased with your ID?

  • HT1311 Changed my apple ID for iTunes, but did not work for app updates.

I followed the directions on my phone and successfully changed my apple ID for iTunes. But when I to update apps, the old ID still shows. How can I change my Apple ID so I can update my existing apps?

Correct! The apps I had previously were downloaded using my husband's apple ID. We are now separated, and I would like to download updates under my OWN apple ID. I followed the instructions for changing my AppleID on my phone, and it works with iTunes downloads. Yet the old AppleID continues to show up for App updates/downloads. Can I change the apple ID for App updates? Or must I delete all the apps on my phone that were downloaded under HIS apple ID and then redownload them under my own ID?

My iPod touch was stolen and recovered.  I can use my Apple id for this site but the theif changed the Apple id needed to update apps etc and I do not know how to delete his acct. Any help with this will be greatly appreciate

If the thief enabled activation lock on the device, then there is nothing that can be done.  Only the password for the Apple ID that it is locked with can disable activation lock.

  • On my iPhone 6 how do I change iPhone apple id for the app store. it is in someone elses name?

    hello I need help,
on my iPhone 6 how do I change iPhone apple id for the app store. it is in someone elses name?

Why is it in someone else's name?
Did you get this iPhone from that someone else?
If so they should have released the iPhone form their account before giving it to you.
All purchases made with that account will be forever tied to it and will require it to update in the case of Apps.
If nothing has been purchased, you can go into Settings->iTunes & App Stores->Apple ID and sign out of their account there , and sign in with your own.

  • I changed my Apple ID for an iphone 4s and need to change the iCloud Apple ID/password.  I am unable to change the Apple ID under the iCloud account information without the password which no longer exists.  How can I update my phone?

I had to change the Apple ID used for my iphone 4s.  How do I change the Apple ID for the iCloud information? - the old Apple ID/password no longer exists and this information is requested to make a change.  I am unable to change the Apple ID for the iCloud account.

Apple IDs never go away, so it still exists.
But lets be clear. You actually stopped using an Apple ID and created a NEW Apple ID. You didn't just change the email address of your Apple ID? That means that all of the music and apps purchased with the old Apple ID will have to be purchased again.
If you really did create a new Apple ID you will need the password associated with the old one to disable Activation Lock. There is no way around this. As I said, the old one still exists. You can use the standard tools to recover the password at https://appleid.apple.com.
