Changing MP3 Pitch/Speed.

I know that you can modulate (change the Key center) of projects written in Garageband '08. Is it possible to make slight (fine tune) adjustments in pitch mp3's that I drag into Garageband '08? If doing so requires to slightly change the speed of the mp3, it does not matter to me. Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to make slight (fine tune) adjustments in pitch
slight, no.
in semitones, yes:

  • HOW DO I CHANGE THE PITCH OF A MP3 TRACK IN GARAGE BAND 10.0.02

HOW DO I CHANGE THE PITCH OF A MP3 TRACK IN GARAGE BAND 10.0.02 , i could do it in old version looking at the you tube video, now the screen looks different cant find how to do it. Can some one put up a video please
    Thanks

    There are three ways:
Use an AuPitch filter on the track
Or turn the audio region into a loop
Enable "Follow Tempo and Pitch" for the track and use the transposition slider (that does not always work reliably)
    To add an AuPitch filter:
Enable the audio Units in the GarageBand Preferences and then open the Smart Controls.
To add the AuPitch filter audio unit, click the Audio Unit button and enlarge the Smart Controls pane by dragging the dividing line to the Track Area upwards.
click the Audio Units Brick and add the AuPitch filter:
Type the pitch change in cents (100 cents per half note step) into the text field below the pitch control.
To create a loop from the audio file:
Select the region in the track and use the command "File: Add region to Loop library".
Set the current key and tempo, name the loop, and save the loop.
Now add it from the loop browser to a new track and delete your old track. The search field in the Loop browser will help you to find the loop quickly.
You will be able to transpose the sample like a regular loo by changing the project key.

  • Any way to change speed of a clip without changing the pitch?

When I do the command-J and lower the speed, the pitch lowers which I do not want.

    I don't think that's possible.
Think about it: when you slow down sound you are also slowing down the frequency of sound, making it sound lower and slower. The only way to slow it down and not change the pitch would be to take little sections of it and keep them apart from each other over a long period of time. However, this would not sound like your original audio file.
I don't know what you are looking for. Can you imagine a way in your head to slow down the audio, but not make it change pitch?
The only thing I can think of would be to slow it down normally, then try to correct the pitch using one of FCE's audio filters.

  • Changing the speed of the movie without changing the pitch

    Hi,
Is there a way to create a movie and change the speed of the movie without changing the pitch of the audio??
    Thanks in advance.

I think, this is a two-(many?)-step process, because 'speeding up' is allways pitching audio...
    so... my workflow would be:
    * extract audio from clip
    * speed up video
    * export audio (Quicktime/Expert/aiff
    * use any audio app which allows pitching (Amazing Slowdowner, Audacity...), change speed/pich
    * import back into iM....
probably a little tricky to find the right, sync settings... but you asked for a very .. 'advanced' effect ...

  • How to change the pitch of a sound file

This is not an iTunes problem, but
I don't know where else to go and it is iTunes-mp3 related.
    I play keyboards and sometimes
the tune I wish to accompany playing in iTunes is just a bit
off. I can't change my keyboard settings for that.
Is there any small application (from Apple or another company) that could enable
me to change the pitch (*fractions of a semi-tone*)
of an mp3-4 file and save it back in a format
that can be read by iTunes without changing the speed of the sound of course.
There use to be an amazing program in Classic: SoundEdit. It did anything and easy!
Why didn't they make it for OSX....
    Thanks a bunch
    iMac, Leopard, iTunes 9, E-MU 61 Keyboard
(There is software that came with the keyboard but it's just
too darn complicated, I don't get any of it). I prefer using
little programs like Easy Beat (which can only change the pitch by whole semi-tones unfortunately, I
    need smaller steps than that).

Oh boy, there's a freeware beats per minute analyzer that is really part of a DJ package for Macs that includes this. I don't have a link to it but maybe that would give you a lead on a web search.

  • How can i change the pitch of a song and burn it?

Okay, my sister has a dance competition coming up and she says that the song is just a little to fast for her to keep up with. I have already tried using the windows media player to try to change the pitch of her song and burn it to a cd but there seems to be no way how. I was wondering if there was any way that itunes or any other program out there, free please , could allow me to change the speed of any song and burn that changed song on to a cd.
This would make me so happy!
      Windows XP

If you do a search for 'Change Tempo Song' on Google, lots of programs come up. Even if it's not free, you may be able to use one in demo mode to do what you want for your sister. It's quite kind of you to help her out.
Wish I had a better answer, but I've never used this kind of software...

  • I can't change my Fios speeds to Quantum without chaning my TV plan!?

So for the previous 2 nights, i've been trying to change my internet speed from 20/5 to 75/35.
I've tried though the website, MULTIPLE times. The website works sporadically, sometimes i get furhter than others, but the end result is always the same, i get to the 4th step, where it asks for my email and phone number, in which the fields are already completed because i have all the info updated in my profile. Upon hitting the "Next" button, i'm greeted with a message that asks me to review the given information.
I decide to take to the phone lines on the first night, and i'm told to call back the next day since the dpt. that could help me with this is already closed.
I comply , and call back the next day, this time i'm advised by said department to try live chat.
Did the live chat thing for about an hour , in which i was told to try what i had been trying the previous night, about 2 or 3 times... i'm finally told they have to call me to be able to complete the process...
During this phone call, i'm told that in order to change my internet speeds, i have to switch my TV plan from Fios Extreme HD to an "updated" version of Fios Extreme HD in which one of the channels for which i signed up for Extreme HD in the first place would be lost... (Gol TV , to be exact).
" Your TV plan is old and outdated, and unless you change it, there is nothing i can do about it ".
I'm sorry? You mean to tell me , that in order for me to give you MORE money for better internet speeds, i have to spend MORE money on my TV plan , and lose some channels on top of it?
I'm not sure what Verizon's idea of Customer Service is but i hope it doesnt involve making fools of their loyal customers, and forcing them into situations that even a Kindergartener would see are unfair and, frankly, rediculous.
I'm honestly hoping that i was just dealing with one of the many misinformed customer service reps, and that maybe there is someone else who understands what is really going on , and can help me change my  internet speeds without chaning my TV Plan, unless of course, that is too much to ask. In which case my 2 year contract is up, and i'll start looking for somoene who can accomodate my needs.
    Anyone else having similar issues?

Based on nearly 10 years of dealing with Verizon on various issues, I'm not surprised. Verizon CSR's seem to be so totally script-bound they can't provide any real help at all. Plus the bureacracy and antiquated systems Verizon employs seems designed to produce the worst customer experience possible. How this company stays in business is incredible. Fortunately for them, and unfortnately for us customers, the competition is equally bad.

  • How can I change the pitch of a track?

In Garageband 10.03, how can I change the pitch of a track?
It seems that I somehow mistakenly changed the pitch of a guitar track I had recorded, so that al the notes in the track sound like they're about an octave too high.
I don't know how I did that, and how to make the pitch slider appear so that I can try to lower the pitch.
I saw three Youtube videos that show how to change a track's pitch by using the pitch slider, but none of them explain how to make the pitch slider appear.
The pitch slider is supposed to appear in the lower, left corner of my window, but it doesn't appear in my window.  Instead the lower, left corner of my window says things like, Region, Notes, Time Quantize, Strength and Transpose.

There's much to learn in Garageband!
If you want a comprehensive introduction to the new GarageBand, have a look at Edgar Rothermich's book:
Edgar's "GarageBand 10.0 How it Works"  explains it very well with many screenshots. You can buy it as iBook from the Book store, as PDF,  or as printed book from Amazon, Only, this version of the manual has been written for GarageBand 10.0.1, Some features have changed slightly since then.

  • How do I get Garageband '08 to stop changing the pitches on tracks?

I just recently updated Garageband to '08. Since then, I have started having problems with songs that I started recording prior to the update. Garageband is changing the pitches/notes for both Live instruments and MIDI instruments. I have tried changing the Key of the song on the master track. This doesn't always work. What if my song changes keys?
I have tried deselecting "Follow Tempo and Pitch", but it just selects it again on its own. In addition, that is only an option on the Live instrument tracks. What about the MIDI tracks? In short, how do I get it to stop doing this? I am considering moving back to the previous version of Garageband.

I really wish the Apple team would fix this.  It's one of those nagging things that was overlooked, I would imagine, and no one but musicians that perform would notice.
Anyway, my workaround is this.  I just put a really long silent space at the end of the song giving me time to stop it before it loops.
Hey ipad/garageband team -  How about a new release of gargageband?

  • Is there a way to Change the Writing Speed When Burning CD-R's?

Is there a way to change the writing speed when burning CD-R's?
I don't see any options in Disk Utility.
    Rob
P.S. Since I am burning coasters lately with the Pioneer DVR-111D, I though that I might solve the problem by using a lower write speed.

I dn't believe so with Disk Utility although you can with Roxio Toast Titanium. I would try another media brand, like Verbatim, as a first step and see if the coaster problem goes away.

  • Changing the Keystroke Speed

    Hello,
I'm using Captivate 2.0, and the method in the documentation
for changing keystroke speed doesn't seem to work. An arrow handle
does appear when I mouse over the end of the "Typing" bar in the
timeline, but when I try to click and resize the bar, nothing
happens. I've also tried importing my captivate file into flash to
just remove frames to shorten the typing speed, but the frames for
the typing don't seem to import correctly--in a multiline text box,
when typing on a new line occurs, the typing on previous lines
disappears. Does anyone have another solution for changing the
    keystroke speed?
    Thanks in advance,
    Teresa

    Hi Teresa123,
I am not an expert in Captivate 2 but I have been working
with keystroke speed on the modules I'm building for several months
now and after a few days of frustration, I realized that I was
simply working too fast. Even though I'm working on a lightning
fast laptop, there are some functions of Captivate 2 that require a
few seconds for the laptop to complete such as resizing the typing
duration. Like you, my typing object started out at 156s and I
    shortened it to 14.5 seconds.
    I had to...
    1. Select the typing object on the timeline
    2. Hover over the right edge of the typing object until the
double sided arrow appears (three seconds)
    3. Click the right edge of the typing object and drag to the
    left
    4. Repeat until the object is the correct duration
This is the only method that works without fail for me. I've
tried it on three different machines (another laptop and a desktop
with each running a different OS (Windows 98, XP, and Vista) in 8
    different modules.
I realize this is simplistic and probably not the best
solution but it has saved me quite a bit of frustration over the
    last several months.
    Best of luck,
    Susan

  • Changing the pitch of an audio file

Hi all, how can I change the pitch (make it sound like its gone up a key). I can see that I can seem to select the audio and go into the sample editor and do factory > time and pitch editor and change it but since its destructive I don't know whether to do it as I'm still using the sample elsewhere in the track. Will it alter the others too?

if it's only going up a tone, why not try the pitch shift plug in?
OK, if its vocals it'll sound cack, but for most other things in a mix it works.
    Or buy melodyne uno.
Convert it into a new region b4 you do anything to though if you use time machine.
    Best
    Steve

  • Changeing your burning speed

I have had a few people tell me that if my dvd's are not playing on another dvd player to change the burning speed down to 1x or 2x how do you change your burning speed on idvd, I know this is a simple question for someone. I'm using a g-5 dual and fuji silver label dvd's. thanks

thanks everyone I may just have to make a master copy and then burn it on toast because thats the only way I have found to change the burn speed and I am really getting tired of hearing clients tell me they can't play the dvd on there machine or laptop

  • A WAY TO CHANGE THE BURN SPEED????

    Hi,
I posted a similar question before, but didnt get a definative answer... I'll ask it in a more concise way. Is there a way to change the burn speed in DVD SP2? I didn't see any settings relating to that.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

There is a work around. In DVD Pro, "format" with the output device set to disc and the format to ".img". When this is finished, open Disk Utility and "convert" the .img file to a CD/DVD master (.cdr). This file can then be used to burn to a blank DVD. If you click the options arrow in the burn dialog before beginning the burn, you can select a speed other than "maximum". Not elegant, but it works. My HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4165B DVD drive only succeeds at burning at its maximum rate about 1/3 of the time. However, at 12X it has been quite reliable.
